Dorothy's POV

"Mommy, can I go play in the park today?" Liam asked finalizing what ever he was drawing.

"I'm sorry honey." I sigh dropping the knife on the chopping board. "Maybe another time."

"But that's what you said last time." He whined tossing his pencil to the floor. "It's not fair."

"Don't throw a tantrum young man." I point at him giving him a stern look. I don't know where's he's getting this attitude from and I don't like it.

"Dad would allow me if he was here." He climb down the seat to stump his feet. I take in a deep breath trying not to react to what he just said.

"Well dad's not here and my answer remains the same." I pick up the knife and keep chopping the vegetables.

"I wish dad was here!" He shouted throwing his drawing book on the floor. "I want my daddy!"

"Stop it." I hiss looking down at him. I tossed the knife and walk up to him. "Stop this attitude young man."

"But I want to go to the park." He said as a small tear rolled down his eyes. "I'm tired of staying here. Grandpa and you go out all the time. It's not fair."

I crouch down and pull him into a hug. "I know baby but I'm just trying to keep you safe I don't want you to be taken away from me."

"I don't understand." He pulled back giving me a confused look.

"How about we go to the park tomorrow." I give him a small smile. "Tonight your uncle and aunt are coming over."

"Uncle Jacob and aunt Shelly?" He asked excitedly.

"Yes." I smile kissing his head. I hate it when we fight. It makes me feel like I'm the villain because sometimes he's right and I don't want to admit I'm wrong.

"I can show them my pictures of daddy and I" He runs to pick up his drawing book from the floor. "And maybe they can meet daddy too."

"Maybe." I say standing up straight.

I don't want to make any promises because they way it's going Liam might never see Ethan again. I'm doing this for his own safety. I don't want anything in Ethan's life to affect the way Liam grows up. I may seem harsh but it's the honest truth. I can't risk the safety of my sons life to be with a man I love. Liam comes first and If it means staying away from that lying prick then I would.

"Why don't you go meet grandpa while I make dinner." I suggested going back to chopping the veggies.

**************************************

"I'm so glad you finally came here." Shelly said giving me a bear hug. "I've missed you so much."

"Hey don't manhandle my sister." I hear Jacob shout from the front door.

"Jacob!" I shouted pulling out of Shelly's grasp to hug my brother.

"Hey Dottie." He smiled kissing my forehead. "How are you doing?"

"I'm doing great." I smile up at him. "I missed you."

"I missed you too Dottie." He smiled as he let me go. "Where's the little man?"

"Yeah where's Liam." Shelly pushed me to the side and entered the living the room where he was with his grand father watching tv.

"Guess who's here?" She sings as she spreads her arms apart.

"Aunty Shelly!" Liam exclaimed running into her opened arms.

"Oh you are getting bigger everyday." Shelly groans as she tries to pick him up.

I smile leaning at the door watching Liam tell Shelly what he has been up to recently. I notice that Jacob and dad are no longer in the room with us. I slowly walk out to look for them.

"Are you going to tell her?" I heard Jacob asked dad in a serious tone.

"They haven't stayed here for long and she's not mentally capable to know this." I heard dad sighed. "She just got her heart broken this is going to crush her."

"But the earlier she knows the faster she can deal with it." Jacob pointed out. "I hate it when I keep things from her."

"Just give me time please." Dad begged him desperately. "She needs to hear this from me please."

"It's okay dad." Jacob said in a reassuring tone. "She'll understand everything."

I lean back against the wall trying to absorb everything I just heard. Something is wrong and what ever it is I'm definitely not going to like it. I close my eyes trying to focus on my breathing. They can't know what I heard. They can't know I overheard them. Whatever they have to tell me has to wait. Dad was right I just got my heart ripped apart from Ethan, the last thing I need is hear any negative news from him.

"Oh!" I exclaim when I finally walk into the room they are in. "I was looking for you guys. Dinner is about to start."

"Dottie." Jacob said in shock. "You scared me for a second."

"Yeah maybe because you are hiding something from me." I say but just in my head so nobody could here me but me. Thank you Nikki Maxwell for that tip.

Why don't we go have some dinner." Dad said breaking the tension. "It smelt good when she was cooking."

"That's when she was cooking." Jacob smirked walking out of the room.

"Jerk." I mutter behind him.

"I heard that." He laughed hugging Shelly from behind.

"You were meant to hear it!" I shout walking into the kitchen to bring out the remaining bowls.

The dinner table was full of laughter. It was really fun but I couldn't take my mind from what I heard earlier between Dad and Jacob. I know I didn't want to know now but it seems my curiosity is getting the best of me.

"Dottie." I hear my name being called and instantly I'm pulled out of my thought. "You seemed bothered"

"Sorry I was just thinking about my date with Nikolas tomorrow" I lie looking down at my plate. "I just don't know why I said yes."

"Aw that's cute." Shelly coos taking a sip from her glass. "It's going to be fine just be yourself."

"What's a date?" Liam asked dropping his cutleries

"It when two people who like each other go out to have fun." Dad explained to him.

"Can I go on a date with uncle Jacob because I really like him and I think his so cool like uncle Luca?" Liam asked excitedly.

"Well aunt Shelly has to be okay with that because you'll be taking her boyfriend from her." I smile down at him.

"I'm totally cool with you having a little bromance." Shelly giggled. "Just make sure he doesn't get to attached to you." She added making everyone at the table laugh well except Liam because he was confused.

"I'm so happy everyone is here well most of us," Jacob started dropping his fork going down one knee facing Shelly. "I've known you for a very long time and honestly I hated you the first few times I met you and I feel like an ass- I mean I feel like a butthead for that. You came into my life when I was going through shi- um I was going through hard times and I know I was a dic- a butthead to you. I know I pushed you away over and over again and I'm so stupid for trying to get rid of the best thing that have ever happened to me. I really love you and I don't want to ever lose you so I'm asking-"

"Yes!" Shelly jumped on him before he could even asked the question. "Yes I would marry you. That was the question right?"

"Yes." He laughed and pulled her into his arms again bringing out a velvet box. "But I didn't get to finish my speech."

"You could have done better but I still marry you." She smiled at him then opened the box on his hand. "This is beautiful."

I smile with tears in my eyes I don't know for some reason I feel so emotional right know. The ring was beautiful and it looked more beautiful on her finger.

"Hey buddy." I looked down at Liam who looked at Jacob and Shelly in awe. "You uncle just proposed to Shelly."

"Are they going to get married?" He asked smiling at them.

"Yes they are." I kiss his head holding him close to me.

"Are you and daddy ever going to get married?" He asked looking up at me with hope in his eyes.

"I don't know." I sigh looking back at a very happy Jacob and an excited Shelly. "I don't know."
