Smiling I enter the room where dad was teaching Liam how to play Uno. I don't why he is teaching how to play it now, he has a lot of time to teach him.
"You can only place a card if it's the same color or number." Dad corrected handing him back his blue card.
"This isn't easy at all." Liam whined folding his little arms. "I can't just get it."
"Nothing is easy at all in life." Dad dropped the cards on the table. "but that doesn't mean we don't try our best to overcome the difficult task."
"Have you ever faced a difficult task?" Liam asked genuinely interested at what dad was telling him.
"When your grandmother was sick." He told him. "It was a difficult time for your mother, uncle and I."
I looked down when he mentioned mom.
I remember how dad was during the period was really sick. I was normal seeing her sick but this time you could tell she wasn't going to make it. The doctors tried everything they could for her to survive. We all knew deep inside it was better for her die peacefully than for her to live her life moving from hospital to hospital.
"But mommy said she in a better place now." Liam looked up.
I tried my best to explain to him why he only grandma. Once he's older he understand these things at a deeper level. For know I'm not going to make anything complicated.
"Sometimes it isn't easy letting people go, you never know the last time you'll ever see them. Cherish the time you have with people you love now you can. Forgive them even when they offend you. Sometime it may seem whatever they did is unforgivable but nothing is unforgivable. They only do what they do because they love you. They hide things from you because they love you."
I look up to see dad looking at me. I instantly knew that message was for me. I knew what to do. I left the room and headed upstairs to my room.
I pull out my phone from the charging port. I've been procrastinating this call. I'm scared of what he would say or how I'll react. I find his number and click on it.
It start ringing.
I sit on my bed waiting for him to pick up. My palm gets really sweaty and for some reason I feel stuffed up
On the third ring I start getting a bit worried. He never takes this long to pick up a call from anyone.
"You've reached my voicemail.
Soften your tone Ethan.
As you wish doll."
He never changed it. I remember when we recorded that. It was in the kitchen of our apartment. He phone was stolen by one of his fans so we got a new one.
"Ethan it's me Dorothy. Please call back." I whisper into the phone.
I quickly dial Mia's number and wait for it start ringing.
"Oh my god Dora you're okay." She sounding concerned yet tired.
"Mia are you okay?" I asked worried because of the way she sounds.
"I'm going too poop out a child of me in the next thirty minutes." She said with a groan.
My heart instantly dropped. I was so kin of avoiding Ethan I forgot she was pregnant. "I'm so sorry I couldn't make it."
"Let turn this to a video call." She suggested. I quickly switched to video call. Once I saw her face I felt so bad. She looked like hell. Huge bags under her eyes, a messy bun on top of her head with wrinkles on her forehead but she still manage pull up a smile.
"Oh Mia. I'm so sorry I was so selfish that I didn't realize when your due date was." I said with tears in my eyes.
"Don't sweat over it." She shrugged. "I would totally run away if that type of new was dropped on me."
"I wish I was there." I smile at her.
"Me too." She whispered back. "I'm so sorry for keeping that kind of secret from you. I really wanted to tell you but I couldn't break the code."
"It wasn't your fault Mia." I say to her. "I probably would have done the same if I were in your shoes."
"Have you talked to him." She asked raising a brow.
"I tried calling him but it went straight to voicemail." I say looking at the poster behind her.
"No one has heard from him since you left." She sighed. "The only reason why we aren't bothered is because Luca gives us updates on him."
"I should come back." I whisper.
"Oh don't come back at all." She warns. "At least not now. Somehow the media knows he has a heir."
"How's that a problem." I asked raising a brow at her.
"He has enemies. Lots of enemies and I'm not talking about his business rival. I'm talking about blood thirsty mafias who would do anything to kill Liam."
I start feeling sick. I can't imagine what I would do if Liam was ever taken away from him.
My breakfast started coming back up my throat. I run to the toilet and puke my guts out. I heard Mia in the background calling out my name.
I rinse my mouth and wash my face before picking up my phone.
"Are you okay?" She asked looking so concerned at my well being. "I heard you throw up."
"It's okay I'm probably sick." I shrugged dismissing what just happened.
"What do you mean?" She asked confused. "Is this the first time it's happening?"
"No. I started last week, must been something I ate or something."
"Or something." Mia emphasized.
"What do you mean by that." I said flushing the toilet. "I'm perfectly fine."
"When was the last time you had your period?" She asked looking at me seriously.
"If you are insulating that I'm pregnant then you are wrong." I laugh walking back into the bedroom.
"Just answer the question." She prompted.
"Fine." I sigh and started thinking. "The last time I had my period was err...it was not so long ago. It think it was....fuck I might be pregnant."
I can't be pregnant. I'm not ready to have a second child. Ethan and I aren't even on speaking term and his second child could be inside me.
"This is fucking painful." Mia groans. I can hear David's voice in the background. "Don't tell me to fucking calm down."
"You can do this Mia." I say to her in a comforting tone.
"Do something for me will ya?" She asked.
"Anything you want." I promise her wanting her to feel at ease.
"Take a pregnancy test right now." She said. I heard a few gasps from the background. "Take one now."
"Okay Mia it's time to start pushing." I heard the doctor say.
"Dora take the test." She groans at she tries to push.
I get up and head to the bathroom. Shelly brought a few test over she came back from her friends party. I bring out one.
I feel my whole inside burn with anxiety. I really don't want be pregnant. I can't have another child for Ethan when we aren't on good terms.
I peed on the stick and dropped it on the counter. To say I was scared was an understatement. I picked up my phone to check up on Mia.
"How you doing over there?" I asked her.
"I feel like my pussy is tearing!" I heard her scream in pain. "I'm never having unprotected sex again."
"Same goes for me." I muttered under my breath.
"I can see the head." The doctor announced after a few minutes of Mia groaning in pain.
"Really!" I hear Grace's excited voice in the background. "That's it honey you can do this."
"Mia you can do this." I smile brightly leaning my back against the bathroom wall.
After a few minutes and Mia's groaning I heard the cry of a baby. My heart leaped with joy. She did it. I heard all the cheers and coos from Grace and the hospital staff in the background.
The camera adjusted a moment later and I could see the cute baby girl she held close to her. "Dora say hello to Addison."
"No way." I whisper as a tear rolled down my face when she called out the name of the baby.
"I named her after your mother. I know I didn't meet your mother physically but the stories I hear about showed me the true virtue of a woman." Mia explained to me. "Doesn't she look like an alien."
"She the cutest alien you'll ever meet." I smile looking at the baby. She looked so beautiful.
"I'll call you later and you tell me the result." I heard her whisper to me with the noise around the room.
For a second I was confused then I remembered I took a pregnancy test. "Okay."
I told everyone goodbye and hung up. I stood up from the floor and picked up the pregnancy stick from the counter. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath.
Positive.
It was positive.
I'm pregnant.
Again.
