Dorothy's POV

This seriously can't be happening, I can't see him two times in a week. He shouldn't be here after all; he left.

I look at the man standing in front of me, he was wearing a fitted suit which looked like it was just sown by a tailor. His face was filled with no emotions yet his eyes told many stories. I see his lips rise into a smirk and only then do I realize I've been staring.

"I heard a crash is everything okay?" Mia asked rushing into the room. "Oh, you."

I immediately snap out from whatever trance I was in. I look down at the mess I made: the broken bowl along with the coleslaw that Mia took her time to make on the floor.

" Oh Mia, I'm so sorry," I say bending down to pick up the glass pieces.

"Baby doll," Ethan says walking closer to me making me wince at the pet name. He bent down to stop me from touching the glass pieces.

"Get your hands off me." I snap at him pulling my hand back automatically.

"You're insane if you think I'm going to let you pick this up." He says grabbing my hand holding it in a firm grip. I felt a jolt of electricity rush through my body and I instantly jerk my hand from his grasp.

"But you could abandon me when I needed you the most." I spat at him rubbing my fingers.

I don't know what it was but I saw something flash through his eyes. But he quickly masked it. I stand up and see Mia looking at me with sympathy.

"I'll go get a broom to sweep this up," I say to her getting up from the floor.

"Um don't worry, I'll get one of the maids to do it." She quickly says walking towards the door before I could even protest.

"Okay," I whispered at her desperately wanting to shout at her for leaving me with Ethan.

"Mia," Ethan calls out which makes her turn back.

"Save it!." She spat at him.

"I deserve that." I heard him mutter as Mia walked out of the room.

"What are you even doing here?" I asked.

"This is my house in case you forgot." He smirked taking a step closer to me.

That damn smirk.

"Yeah right smartass, what are you doing here in New York?" I asked with more clarity

"I-"

"You know what I don't even want to know, I don't care what you do with your life anymore."

"Don't be like that baby doll." He says attempting to take another step closer but I just move back.

"Don't ever call me that it's Dorothea to you, mister." I snapped and walked out of the room. Mainly because I couldn't resist the urge to jump on him.

Why can't I just move on from him? That man drives me insane and I don't even know why? He left me he doesn't even want him. I thought the feelings would have died away along with the pain but when I saw him that day at the clinic I knew I still wanted him. But it hurts so much, seeing him with that little girl. It hurt like a bitch.

"I should have told you he was coming but I didn't want you to miss this lunch," Grace said apologetically.

"You knew he was going to come?" I asked shocked a bit offended she didn't give me heads up.

"I invited him over." She looked up with sadness in her eyes. "I haven't seen my son for four years. I had to see him."

She was right. No matter how bad he hurt me, he was still her son and she was his mother. I can't imagine not seeing Liam for four years.

"You right, that was selfish of me. I'm sorry." I said giving her a sad smile.

"Well, you shouldn't have," Mia said angrily at her mother's decision.

"I know and I'm sorry, but please can we just have lunch as a family." She asked with pleading eyes. "Just like the old times."

I remember when Ethan and I were still dating we used to come for lunch with them every Sunday. Everyone will meet up and talk about how their week went. Ethan and Matt would spend hours in the office while Grace, Mia, David and do something all together. It was like a tradition that they kept. We were one big happy family.

Family.

Liam.

Shit.

I rush out of the kitchen to the living room where the boys were. Ethan doesn't know about Liam and he can't know about Liam. I'm not ready to tell him yet.

By the time I got to the living room, it was already too late. Ethan was in the room staring at Liam who was oblivious to what was going on.

"Mom look Jojo and I built a tower!" Liam called out to me the moment he notice me.

Well, damn.

"Mom?" Ethan raised his brows at me with a bit of hurt in his eyes.

"I-I can explain." I stutter not able to look him in the eyes.

"Come on guys, let's give them so privacy," David said taking Liam and Jojo without giving me a sympathetic look.

"Son-" Matt tried to reason.

"Not now dad." Ethan snapped making me jump a bit. "I want to be alone with her."

Matt nodded. He walked up to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "It's going to be alright."

I wish I could believe him but lately, everything has been upside down for me.

"Explain." He commanded the moment the door closed

"You left, I got pregnant and the rest is self-explanatory," I said looking away from him.

"He's my child." He whispered.

"Take a wild guess," I muttered.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He raised his voice.

"Tell you?" I snapped sending my gaze to him.

"Yes!" He shouted. "I deserved to know! I'm his father!"

"Are you crazy?!" I shouted back at him. "I called you every single fucking day while I was pregnant but you never picked up. You not knowing is your fault, after all, you left me so why does it bother you."

"It bothers me because I'm his fucking father Dorothy!" He ran his hand through his hair. "He is my responsibility."

"No, he is not!" I snapped holding myself from hitting me. "I raised that boy for four years without you. I can still do it without you."

"Why didn't you tell me?" He sighed letting out a deep breath.

"Are you deaf I just told you I-"

"Now I'm back. You weren't planning to tell me now I'm back were you?" He snapped raising his hands. "And here I was trying to win you back while you hid the fact I had a son!"

"This is the second time I'm seeing you now you're back from god knows where. I can't just drop the bomb." I palm my face wanting to end this conversation. "And besides what different would have it made, you were not going to be there for him."

"Don't say that." He whispered hurt by what I said.

"Don't say what? You'll leave him when he needs you! Just like you did to me?" I shouted.

"I want to be part of his life too," he demanded taking a step closer to me.

"And then dump him later?" I asked folding my hands stubbornly

"Why can't you just drop it!" He snapped which made me jump. "Yes I made a mistake and I'm trying to make up for it. It's not like I'm going to make the same mistake twice."

"Well, I'm not." I spit right at his face.

"I want to be part of his life." He says again this time more calmly. "I'm his father and I have the right to have him with me too."

I kept quiet.

I'm just trying to protect my son from him is that bad.

"You want it the hard way then." He smirked walking closer to me. "It's up to you can allow me to be part of his life or I'll just take him from you."

Did he just say that?

"You can't do that," I said gritting my teeth.

"I'm Ethan King, I can do whatever the fuck I want." He said

"Go ahead threatening me!" I shout at him, shoving him further away from me. "You are deluded if think you can do anything you want. There is no way I'm going to let you take MY son away from me."

"Try me." He said looking into my eyes and I gasped once I see it cold and filled with anger. "It's up to you."

And with that, he walked out of the room.

It doesn't take long for tears to start flowing down freely down my face. I rest my back against the wall and slide down to the floor.

He can't do that, he can't take my son away from me. I won't let him take Liam away from me. Who does he think he is.

I scream and pull my hair out of frustration.

"Hey, it's okay. It's going to be fine." I absorb Mia's words as she embraces me.

But she's wrong.

It's not okay and it's not going to be fine.
