It's been three days since that incident happened in the King's mansion. Luckily I haven't seen or heard from Ethan. I frankly don't want to see him anytime soon.

The lunch was ruined and Grace was devastated. All she wanted was to have a family gathering like in old times. I can't blame her for wanting that. I just want all this to be behind us; I don't want Liam raised in a broken home.

I seat at my desk looking at a picture of Liam and me together. I don't think I can imagine him ever being taken away from me. He's my source of light in my darkness. Without him, I don't know how I would survive the pain I'm in.

"Penny for your thoughts," Wendy said sitting opposite me.

"Nothing serious." I sigh.

"Good cause I'm angry at you." She said in a serious tone tapping her foot on the floor. I've seen her angry once or twice and trust me you don't want to be there.

"What did I do?" I asked a bit worried and surprised at her.

"How can you not tell me you were once engaged to the sexiest bachelor in this state." She whines leaning back into the chair giving me a pout. "Friends don't keep huge secrets like this from each other."

"I'm sorry." I give her a sad smile sitting straight up unlike her. "I wanted to keep a low profile after you know.... what happened."

"Yeah, I completely understand. I would do the same if I were you." She said giving me a sympathetic smile. "Well you have a patient, she came here last week with that sexy man-beast."

"Emma?"

"Yeah." She said standing up stealing a few candies from the bowl on my table. "How did I not recognize him then." She mutters under her breath popping one into her mouth before leaving the room.

I stand up after she leaves and walks up to the examination chair to set it up.

Emma is here which means he's here too. And I know I'm not ready to face him at all. After what happened at the mansion I don't want to see his face. Can you believe he threatened me?

Who the hell does he think he is?

Oh yeah, Ethan King sexiest bachelor in New York who thinks he can do anything he wants.

News flash; he's not that sexy. That's if you remove his grey eyes and chiseled jawline and beautiful smile that make you melt into a bucket of goo.

The door slams open bringing me out of my thought and Emma walks into the room excited.

"Dora!" She says running to me almost tripping herself.

I bend down to her height and smile at her. "Hey, you."

"Guess what happened!" She commands placing her hands on my shoulders.

"Um, I don't know what?" I asked.

"Come on guess." She says tugging my jacket.

"You got a new doll?" I raise my brow a bit.

Doll, seriously?

I am really bad at these guessing games. Why can't people just get straight to the point?

"No!" She giggles letting go of my jacket.

"Then what ?" I asked getting a bit impatient.

She grins so wide that I can see all her teeth, all except one.

"It fell off," I whisper looking at the gap that was in her mouth.

"Mhmm." She hums skipping toward the examination chair.

I stand up and follow behind her. "When did this happen?"

"On Sunday, we went to a café to get some tea." She says finally getting on the chair after a little bit of struggle. "I was eating a scone and it fell off."

I chuckle lightly patting her head.

Finally found someone whose tooth didn't fall off from biting into an apple. It's like some people bite into one intentionally even after when I warned them to stay away from hard substances.

"Well, that's good," I said sitting beside her. "Are feeling any pain?"

"Nope." She smiles. "But it feels kinda weird."

"You'll get used to it eventually," I say trying to get used to the gap.

"That's what my daddy tells me." She plays with the hem of her shirt.

I felt my heart drop when she mentioned her dad. This is exactly what I don't understand; if Ethan moved on, what exactly does he want with me? He has a very beautiful daughter and probably a very beautiful wife and a friendly dog so what could he possibly need from me?

The door opens and I see a lady walk in. She is very beautiful. She looks like a model with her slender body, blonde hair, blue eyes, full lips, long legs you name it. She's a goddess. She could be Emma's mom, there's a clear resemblance.

" I told her aunt Nicole!" I hear Emma shout behind me.

"Hey, little fairy." She beams at her then shifted her gaze to me. "You must be Dora."

"Yes, I am." I stretched my hand for a handshake.

"I'm Nicole, her aunt." She accepts and shakes my hand. "Can't get her to shut up about you."

"Really?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yup. She's so pretty and she gave me a pretty doll too." Nicole imitates. "I was meant to drop her off the last time but between you and me; I'm not a great fan of dentists. So I asked a friend to help me. Once I figured she was in love with you I had to come and see this Dora she's always talking about."

A friend.

Ethan.

That means Ethan isn't her father which means he hasn't moved on. But coming to think of it, he can't be possibly just friends with her. I mean look at her, she's fucking gorgeous.

I can't stop the smile that forms on my face. Ethan doesn't have a child except for Liam. I feel so relieved after hearing that. I don't know why but I feel this way but I do.

"It's okay she's a darling," I say glancing at Emma.

"We should hang out sometime," Nicole says out of the blues. "Your pretty cool."

"You think?" I look down at the marbled floor.

"Yup." She says popping the p then walks closer to where I am. "We could grab a cup of coffee or maybe even go shopping, it's up to you."

"That sounds cool," I start saying.

I don't know if I want to hang out with her. Don't get me wrong she seems cool but I don't want any chances of bumping into Ethan again.

"Why am I sensing a but?" She asked secretly begging me with her eyes. "Come on it would be cool. I promise."

"Fine." I give in after calculating my chances of bumping into Ethan.

After all, a little fun won't hurt me, right?

She hands me her card. "We'll meet at Sarah's Treats not far from here. Let's say Sunday? Two o'clock?"

"Sunday, Two o'clock." I smile looking down at the card.

"It's a date." She grins at me. "Come on little monkey."

Emma jumps down from the chair and runs to her.

"Bye Dora." She waved at me.

"Bye." I smile at her giving her a small wave back.

"Don't stand me up," Nicole warns before she leaves.

"I won't," I promised.

They both leave the room and I let out a sigh of relief.

Well, that was way better than I expected.

It could have been worse you know. Ethan showed up instead and I cried my heart out because I'm still pathetically in love with him.

Yup, definitely could have been worse.

I sit down on my chair a pull out my phone from my pocket. I scroll through my contacts till I find my dad's number. It has been a long since I spoke to him and right now I need him.

I press call and wait for him to pick up.

"Dottie?" He asked sounding worried

"Hey Dad, how are you?" I asked softly.

"Good, good." He replies. I can hear the sound of the television. "How are you?"

"I'm good," I say quietly tapping a pen on the table.

"Do you need me to fly down there to beat up that son of a bitch because I'm so ready to do so?" He asked in a warning tone.

"No dad, everything is perfect here." I try my best to convince him.

"Good." I know deep down he knows I'm lying, but he decided not to push it and I'm grateful

"How's your health?" I asked in a serious tone.

"Good but it could be better if you told Jacob to stop asking me every damn time." He huffed making me let out a small laugh.

"That's because he cares about you dad." I smile imaging the look on his face when he is reminded to take his medication.

"Well, I don't like it. I'm not dying any time soon you know." He points out

"Yes dad, I know you aren't but you still need to be careful." I sigh rubbing my temples.

"How my little man doing?" He quickly changes the topic.

"He doing great." I decided to let the health topic go. I'll deal with that later.

"So you'll bring him over here to see me?" He asked with hope in his voice.

"I would," I promised looking down at the picture frame. "when I find the time."

"Oh boy." I hear him mumble in annoyance.

"What is it, dad?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows

"It's the neighbors again." He states irritated. "Always poking their noses in my business. I'll kill them one day I swear."

"I'm sure it's not that bad." I roll my eyes at his outburst.

"They are peeking through my window right now honey, it's that bad." He groans muttering something under his breath. "I got to go honey."

Bye, dad." I smile playing with my fingernails

"Bye, princess." He says then hangs up.

I don't know how but he always manages to make my day feel a lot better.
