Past Angelina's POV
"Miss, are you hungry?" Marie asked me while I held her hand for support. I couldn't walk unless someone held my hand and help me.
"Mhm" I nodded. As we passed by my father's study, we heard loud shouting. Both me and Marie stopped in our tracks.
"Is father angry again?" I asked. It's not unusual to hear my father throwing a fit. But I never found out the reason.
Marie sighed and said, "His grace's mood has been getting worse and worse..."
"Don't mind him, miss. Let us go to the dining room. We wouldn't want to keep our hungry lady waiting." Marie smiled and led me to the dining room.
As I expected, no one is there. After all, I'm always late for breakfast.
I watched as Marie pulled back a chair and helped sit down. In front of me was a bowl of warm porridge.
"....."
"Miss? Is something wrong?" Marie asked.
"It's always porridge..." I sighed.
"But this is for miss's own good." Marie stated before gently patting my head.
"Okay..."
It's always porridge. I want something else for once. I want to eat meat, cake. But all I get is vegetables, fruits, and porridge. I couldn't help myself from getting bored of eating the same things everyday.
I glanced around the dining room and sighed. It felt pretty lonely. Only Marie is here with me. Everyone else in this mansion avoids me like I'm some sort of monster.
But I can't blame them. My complexion is quite ugly. Face as pale as paper, body weak and scrawny. My silver hair only made me look even more weak and sickly.
'just when will I get better...'
********************* "Mm..." Angelina slowly opened her eyes. Her eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings as she attempted to wake herself up.
"Miss!" Marie called for Angelina as she rushed in room.
Angelina, who has just gotten up, lifted her head and looked at Marie.
"Lady Rienne from the Balloria household is here and she is requesting to see you miss." Marie said. She walked up to Angelina and sighed.
"Miss needs to get ready quickly. We wouldn't want lady Rienne to see miss in such a state..." She shook her head.
******************** "Sorry to have made you wait so long, lady Rienne."
Angelina entered the room and greeted Rienne, who was sitting on the couch.
"It's no bother, Lina. It's partially my fault for coming without a prior notice." Rienne said before sipping her tea.
"Speaking of which, is there something you need to inform me of? I found it quite strange for you to seek me so suddenly." Angelina walked over and sat on the couch, facing Rienne.
"Am I not allowed to visit a friend?" Rienne raised one of her eyebrows.
"That's not what I meant." Angelina calmly responded. She was unaffected by the piercing gaze Rienne was shooting at her.
"Well I just felt like complaining today." Rienne carefully placed her teacup down.
"Hm? About what?" Angelina asked. She became quite curious.
"About your b*tch of a sister!" Rienne shouted suddenly and slammed her hand down against the table.
"...." Angelina was little startled, but managed to calm down quickly.
"Earlier, I heard that she had been going around bragging and giving away invitations. But that was not the worst part, she didn't even send me one! She is clearly trying to humiliate me!" Rienne shouted in rage. Her face became twisted and wrinkled.
"What invitation..?" Angelina furrowed her brows. She had a suspicion of what it could be, but decided to confirm it.
"Obviously it's her engagement party..." Rienne said as she rolled her eyes.
'oh... it's as I have expected.' Angelina thought.
The engagement party had been planned since two months ago, but has been postponed. Due to the fact that both families have been too busy recently.
But now it is finally being held.
Remembering the faces of the two people she despised, Angelina frowned.
'so this day has finally arrived.'
"Ugh...who does she think she is!? We are both from equal ranks! Being the center of attention and having a beautiful face must have gone to her head!" Rienne complained while ruffling her hair.
"Calm down. If you want to get an invatation, why not ask the Casspan family?" Angelina suggested.
"Like I will beg for an invitation! I wouldn't go if I had a choice! But...not being invited is humiliating!" Rienne scowled.
Angelina rubbed temples before saying, "I'll see what I can do..."
Hearing that, Rienne's eyes brightened.
"Thank you Lina! But don't make it seem like I'm begging to be invited, because I'm not!" Rienne harrumphed and crossed her arms.
"Yes of course..." Angelina twirled a lock of her hair and pondered.
****************** Alone in the grand hallway, Angelina sighed. She's been having many dreams lately. But they were all just some random memories belonging to Angelina.
"Hm.." Angelina stopped in the middle of her tracks and stared at the door beside her.
'isn't this the duke's study?'
Earlier, she had a dream where Angelina was walking pass here and heard loud screaming, and even glass breaking from inside.
'i never knew the duke had such a bad temper. I wonder what's the reason...'
******************* The door creaked as Angelina slowly opened it. She entered her room and saw Marie, sleeping. Her head was laid on the end of Angelina's bed, but her body was in a sitting position.
'it seems she's really tired today...' Angelina suddenly felt bad.
She sat down on her bed, and gently move Marie's head to lay it on her lap.
She sat there in silence and admired Marie's sleeping face. Marie was even drooling. But Angelina didn't mind.
If this was the past her, she would definitely be disgusted. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
It seems she has grown more humble ever since her reincarnation.
As Angelina caressed Marie's head, she suddenly felt slightly sleepy. Her eyes became heavy but still attempted to stay awake.
But her body weakened and eventually, she lost herself to tiredness.
******************** "Mm.." a young man with black raven hair and blue sapphire eyes, tossed and turned in bed, as he was having a bed dream.
In the dream, young Charles sat behind a bed and clutched a small handmade doll in his hand, and watched as a young girl entered the room and approched him.
"Charles look what Chase gave me! Isn't wonderful!?" The young girl possessing emerald eyes ran over, knelt, and shoved the doll in her hands in front of his face.
The doll looked like it was carefully made. The doll possessed black hair like her's, and a pair of small emeralds for eyes.
He hardened his heart and nodded.
"It's very pretty, Lily."
Lilith's smile grew even sweeter and she stared at the doll with fondness.
"Chase is so nice..." Lilith exclaimed.
"......." Seeing the tenderness in Lilith's eyes, Charles felt his heart torn. He had never seen her look at him that way.
The doll's craftsmanship was much better than the small doll he made for her, which was messy and not as pretty.
Months before her birthday, he went to Emma and asked her to teach him to sew. He wasn't very good at it, and hurt himself several times, but finished it anyway.
The doll he made was the size of a palm. But it was still difficult for him to make. The small doll he made was of her, wearing a crown and in a royal attire. He wanted to make it look like she was royal wife.
But looking at the doll Chase gave her, and comparing it to the one he made, Charles felt ashamed.
"So where's the gift you mentioned?" Lilith suddenly turned to him and asked.
"Um... It's nothing..." He replied. His voice slightly shaking as he hid his handmade doll behind his back.
"Huh...?" Lilith raised one of her eyebrows and looked at him with puzzlement in her eyes.
"I lost it..." Charles lowered his head and avoided her gaze.
"Oh...um.. okay" Lilith continued to play with the doll in her hands. She was slightly disappointed. She was actually quite looking forward for his gift, whatever it was.
Such a shame she never got to see it, since after that day, he threw it away.
