A week later, Amiyah was in court with one of her client.
Amiyah stood in front of the jury. "George Martin, is was an outstanding husband and father. He works hard to provide for his family day in and day out. He was always active in his families live's and he loved them dearly. So much love that he wouldn't have the heart to even lay a finger on his son and wife. He has never even had a ticket, let alone any charge against him. Look at him? Does that look like a man who is murderer? Or a man that misses his family deeply?but of course the past, his story, and his appearance may not matter but the proof does. And the evidence that I presented today should be the proof that you need to see that Mr. Martin did not brutally murder his wife and son but instead it was Charles Hall out of jealousy", Amiyah said. "That will be all"
Amiyah walked back to her seat and as she did she saw Lamar sitting down with everybody else in the court room.
The judge called a recess while the jury made their decision.
"Fingers crossed", Amiyah said.
George nodded before the police walked him away.
Amiyah grabbed her things and walked toward the door, but she stopped to talk to Lamar.
"Hey, what brings you here?", she asked.
"I have to testify for the next case. You know give them a detailed description and explain the evidence at the scene", he said.
"Oh, okay", Amiyah said.
Bianca began walking in the court room and saw Amiyah talking to Lamar. "Well, good luck with that", Amiyah said.
"Thanks", Lamar replied.
Amiyah walked to Bianca and Bianca walked out with Amiyah.
"Girl, who is that? He is fine", Bianca said.
"My new neighbor", Amiyah said. "He works with the police department. He's a forensic scientist"
"Isn't that what you wanted to be?", Bianca asked.
"Yea and aren't you supposed to be defending somebody right now?", Amiyah asked.
"Oh shit. Oh yea", Bianca said. "We'll talk later"
Bianca walked at a quick pace into the courtroom.
Amiyah smiled and shook her head as she sat down to get a breather and relax her mind when she got a call from another friend that she has known since high school named Dominic. While Amiyah and Bianca lived in Los Angeles, he lived in San Francisco. He would always call her or Bianca for advice on the ladies.
"What woman are you trying to get into your bed now, Nic?", Amiyah asked.
"Damn. I can't call to check on my friend?", Dominic asked.
"I'm fine, Dominic. How are you?", Amiyah asked.
"I feel great", Dominic said.
Amiyah chuckled. "What got you so happy?", she asked.
"Listen me tell yoouuuu, that advice that you gave me did not work", Dominic said.
"And you're happy about that?", Amiyah asked.
"Yes. Because that bitch was crazy", Dominic said.
Amiyah started laughing.
"Crazy as hell", Dominic said. "The type of female you gotta change yo number, address, social security number, all that shit"
"That bad?", Amiyah asked as she calmed down a little bit with her laughing.
"Yes", Dominic said.
"Well if it makes you feel any better, my love life is dead too", she said. "And Bianca's"
"Damn", Dominic said. "Y'all good women though, funny and funny looking, yet any guy would be lucky to have y'all"
"Funny looking? I'm gorgeous boy, what you mean? And so is my best friend", Amiyah said.
"I'm joking", Dominic said.
"Mhm", Amiyah said.
"But y'all standards are a little too high in this day in age. Now don't get me wrong, keep those standards. But you're not going to find a guy that has every single thing that you're looking for", Dominic said.
"Look at you. Giving somebody advice for once", Amiyah said. "But I'm not the one who needs to hear that. That will be Bianca"
"True", Dominic said.
"But, I need to go handle some business before my case gets resumed so I'll talk to you later", Amiyah said.
"Alright, lil ugly", Dominic said.
Amiyah sucks her teeth. "Bye", she said.
"Bye", Dominic replied.
Amiyah hung up and smiled as she shook her head. She got up and walked to the room that her client was in to talk about how the case was currently looking for him.

So the jury did eventually make their decision and he was not guilty. Amiyah was proud of herself and happy for her client. To celebrate, her and Bianca went out for drinks.
"I told you they gave the case to the right person", Bianca said as she held her glass up.
Amiyah smiled as she tapped her glass against Bianca's. "Thank you. And congrats on your win too", Amiyah said.
"Thank you", Bianca asked. "I just can't wait for the day that we start our own firm"
"Same", Amiyah replied.
"So, tell me about the guy", Bianca asked.
"I mean it's nothing to tell. Oh, do you wanna go to his house warming with me? He said I can bring one person", Amiyah said. "It's tomorrow at like 6"
"Yea. I can come", Bianca replied. "Maybe he has a single and handsome friend"
Amiyah chuckled. "Or maybe himself", she said.
"No that's all you. You saw him first", Bianca said.
"I told you. I don't want to date him because if stuff doesn't work out between us it will be awkward", Amiyah said.
"True, but still. That's all you", Bianca said.
Amiyah playfully rolled her eyes and smiled.
Amiyah and Bianca finished their drinks and conversations and they left and went home.
When Amiyah got home it was always the same thing. She would drop her keys into a little small dish, take off her shoes, start dinner, eat dinner while she watches TV, then eventually go to bed.

The next day was Lamar's house warming. She brought him a welcome mat and a gift card for Lowe's.
"I had no idea what to get you so I just went with the basics", Amiyah said to Lamar as she handed him a big gift bag and an envelope.
"Whatever it is it's big", he said.
"Yet , not that special", Amiyah said with a chuckle.
Lamar smiled. "Hey, any gift is special because a person didn't have to buy it", he said.
Amiyah nods.
"I'll be back. I'm just going to put this upstairs", Lamar said before walking away.
Amiyah looked around and saw Bianca talking to a couple of people. She then looked over at a table that had finger foods and and drink. She decided to just grab a water bottle and walk to Bianca.
"Oh and this is friend, Amiyah", Bianca said.
Amiyah smiled at them. "Nice to meet you", Amiyah said.
It was what Amiyah assumed to be a couple. The guy looked like Lamar so she assumed he was a relative. The lady had a pretty dark complexion, and her hair was in it's natural curly state. The guy had his hand around her waist.
"I love your hair", Amiyah said.
"Thank you", the lady replied with a smile.
Lamar came walking over. "Amiyah, I see you have met my brother and his wife", Lamar said. "Daren and Paula , this is one of neighbors Amiyah"
"Nice to meet you", Daren said.
Paula nodded in a agreement.
"Same to the both of you", Amiyah said. "Oh and Lamar, this is my friend Bianca"
"Pleasure to meet you", Bianca said.
Nice to meet you too", Lamar said.
Daren put his hand on Lamar's shoulder. "Let me talk to you for minute", he said as he walked him to the side.
The ladies continued to talk.
"She's cute", Daren said. "You better get with that or the friend"
Lamar chuckled and shook his head.
"What I'm serious", Daren said. "You saw how she was looking at you?"
"I was talking", Lamar said.
"Nah, but that was look. Like a look look", Daren said.
"Listen. I'm going to talk to some of my guests", Lamar said.
"Dude, I get it. You're still hurt after your last girlfriend dead but it's time to get back on your feet and find somebody", Daren said. "Sooner or later all the good ones are going to be taken"
"How you even know if she's one of the good ones?", Lamar asked.
"I'm not talking about her. I'm just saying in general. But she could be", Daren said.
Lamar nods. "I'll keep that in mind", Lamar said.
Daren sucks his teeth. "You always say that knowing you won't but okay", Daren said.
Lamar chuckled and walked away.
Daren walked back to his wife and jumped back into the conversation.

After the party, everybody was getting ready to go. Bianca left early because she had business to handle with work but Amiyah stayed until the end. She enjoyed herself.
"Hey, I hope you listen me", Daren said. "She's single, a lawyer, and no kids"
"How you find all that out?", Lamar asked.
"Conversation. Hey, I gotta see if she got the basics down packed to be with my bro", Daren said.
Lamar shook his head.
Amiyah walked over to them. "Sorry, to interrupt. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed myself and thank you for inviting me", Amiyah said.
"Thank you for coming", Lamar said.
"I'm about to go. Again, nice meeting you",Daren said as he got into his car.
"Same to you", Amiyah said.
Daren look at Lamar . "Ask her out", he mouthed.
Lamar shut the car door for him.
Amiyah smiled. "Goodnight", she said as she walked pasted him.
Lamar caught up with her. "If you don't mind me doing so, could I walk you? Even though your house is like right there", he said.
Amiyah smiled. "Sure", she replied.
Lamar and Amiyah began walking.
"So, like not to be nosey but are you from around here?", she asked.
"Yea. I was born and raised here but then I went to school in Washington and stayed there for a few years and now I'm back", he said.
"Which do you like better", Amiyah asked.
"Well, what do they say? It's nothing like home sweet home", he said.
Amiyah smiled. "Agreed", she said.
Lamar and Amiyah stopped in the middle of her driveway.
"So, um I hope it isn't weird or awkward if I ask for you number", Lamar said.
"(213)345-6231", she said right after.
"Woah, hold up", he said with a chuckle as he pulled his phone out his pocket.
"Sorry", Amiyah said with some embarrassment on her face.
"You good", Lamar said as he handed her his phone.
Amiyah typed her name and number in. "I also texted myself, so I'll have yours", she said before handing him his phone back.
"Cool", Lamar said.
Amiyah smiled. "Goodnight", she said.
"Goodnight", he replied.
Amiyah began walking to the house as Lamar watched her for a moment then he turned around and looked both ways before walking back to his house.
Amiyah walked into the house.
