Trigger Warning: Blood, men

"Ehh, whatever," I grumbled to myself, "I can be a little late to my first class."

I started walking, staring down at my phone.

That was until I walked into a wall.

Literally.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Emma POV*

I looked up at what I had walked into and realized it wasn't a wall.

It was something much worse.

I had walked into a row of lockers.

Now you might be wondering, Why is that worse?

Well, I'm glad you asked. That is much worse because when you walk into a row of lockers, a horrible "BANG" sound gets made.

And you know what that means.

All eyes were on me.

Fuck, that hurt. My nose felt weird too.

I reached up to touch it and came away with blood on my finger.

Shit, I was gonna be in deep trouble if anyone saw this.

"Holy shit," someone said," You okay?"

I shook my head, no, not wanting the dam holding back my tears to burst.

Say what you want about toughness but hurting your nose hurts.

The person slung an arm around me and gently guided me towards, what I presumed, was the nurse's office.

My eyes traveled over his beat-up converse, cuffed blue jeans, and ratty green Nike sweatshirt; however, before I could look at this face, a thought came over me.

That green Nike sweatshirt with its distinct green color (i.e., throwup green) looked awful familiar, almost like-

[basically this, but imagine whatever, yes it's a weird green deal with it]

"Wait, what's your name?" I asked.

"Alejandro, what's yours?"

I jerked my head up as fast as I could to confirm if this was really the Alejandro I knew.

It was.

"Jando?" I whispered, using my childhood nickname for him.

"Pardon?" He questioned, reasonably confused.

"Oh my gosh, sorry," I rushed out, "My name is Emma, Emma Lopez. I mean, I doubt you even rem-"

I was cut off as Alejandro pulled me in for a bone-crushing hug.

"Jesus christ Ems I thought I would never see you again," he said.

About 4 years ago, when we were both 12, Alejandro's dad found a job somewhere else, and he had had to move. At the time, it was heartbreaking because we had known each other since we were young. We met in kindergarten when we were both 5. Of course, he moved away before I could tell him the full extent of Gabriel's harm. As far as he knew, Gabriel had slapped me like one time and didn't do anything past that.

"I know Jando, I know." I whispered against his shoulder, "Uh, can't breathe, dude."

"Sorry, sorry," he said, "emotions."

"Anyways," I continued, "how have you been?"

He shrugged his shoulders, opting out of a verbal answer.

"Hopefully, you haven't found another girl to ask out every single day yet, have you?" I joked.

When we were younger, Alejandro was very overprotective of me but not like an older brother. He had pretty much had a crush on me since we met, which I always found weird. And for 7 years, young Alejandro had managed to ask me out every. Single. Day.

Alejandro's face flushed red, and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously,

"Yeah, sorry about that; I promise I'm not like that anymore."

"Jando, this has been lovely and all, but" I pointed at my nose, "I need something to stop my nosebleed. It hurts."

He laughed before saying, "Well, only you could walk into a row of lockers on your first day of school, only you."

Jando walked me down to the nurse's office and made to come inside before I stopped him.

"You go to class; I can deal with this."

"Bu-"

"GO." With a little wink, I turned around and walked into the nurse's office.

"Excuse me?" I quietly said.

"Yes?" The nurse said a bored expression on her face.

"Um, do you have anything for this?" I gestured at my nose and winced at the pain that coursed through it.

Oh well, I just hope it wasn't broken. Well, if it was, I could get a nose job. That would be fun.

"I can't give you anything besides ice. You want it?" The nurse said.

I sighed and nodded my head. Even across the country, the nurses still couldn't give us anything. Whatever I probably had Advil or some shit in my bag. If worse comes to worse, I could do drugs.

Shut up, thoughts. I am literally crazy what the actual heck. I blame the pain or whatever.

Just then, the door opened behind me, and in came in the most angelic-looking girl I had ever seen.

[a/n, I am in love with girls; it's a problem. Like if you're a girl, hmu. Any type of girl. Jk im a minor, lmao. Also, this girl's indian because i wanna self insert. this is not a fanfic]

I closed my eyes a bit once I got a look at the rest of her outfit. It wasn't ugly or anything; it was just so bright.

"Hi!" She chirped.

I stared at her, wondering why she was so loud at 9:00 in the morning.

"Hey," I nodded at her.

"Are you new here?" She asked.

"Yeah, I just moved here. What's your name?"

"Diya, and yours?"

"Emma. Damn, your name is nice." Well, it probably had thought and time poured into it, unlike mine [a/n this is a direct attack on me :)]

"Nice! Can I see your schedule?"

I shrugged my shoulders and handed it to her.

"Hey, we have literally the same classes except for the medical ones. Even then, I think Hollis has those."

"Hollis?" I didn't bother asking anything else like why the fuck this girl was telling me all this.

"They're my friend; you can come meet them. Let's go!"

Whatever, not like I could get kidnapped by her.

" Hold on, let me grab my ice. And what did you need?"

"A pad. Let's go; we're already late."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diya and I walked into class 5 minutes late, and I could feel the stares burning into my head.

I stared at the ground, not liking this attention. I mean, I knew I was beautiful, but still. Jesus, I'm so self-obsessed it's a problem.

The teacher barely glanced at us before waving his hand in the general direction of some empty seats.

Diya grabbed my hand, and it took everything within me not to flinch.

She dragged me over to the seats and plopped down next to the person already sitting there. She sat in the middle of the other person and me before gently poking the other person's cheek.

"What" they growled out from under the hands that were covering their face.

"Hiiiiiii" Diya said.

"Oh, it's you." They barely looked up.

"Anywho," Diya continued, "this is my new friend Emma and Emma, this is my old friend Hollis. They are actually very nice once you get past all that."

Diya gestured towards the scowl that had settled itself on Hollis' features.

Now that I had a good look at Hollis, I realized just how good looking they were. God damn, is everyone at this school hot or pretty or handsome or something. Must be the frogs in the water or something.

[hollis]

"Nice to meet you. I'm Emma, as she said." I gave an awkward half-wave and mentally cursed myself. Why did I always get like this around hot people?"

I turned around to look at the board again, ready to learn about the powerhouse of the cell. Fun.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had made it through the first half of my first day, but now it was the most dreaded part of the day.

Lunch.

Now don't get me wrong, I love food as much as the next person, probably more to be honest, but I didn't have anyone to sit with, and I was sure as hell not going to sit with my brothers. That shit is embarrassing.

Just as I was about to turn around and walk out the cafeteria, someone, Diya, I presumed by the vibrant outfit, grabbed my arm and dragged me for the second time that day.

We finally reached out location, a secluded hallway with just Hollis sitting there.

Well, this was awkward. Damn hot people.

We ate lunch together with Diya's constant babble in the background.

It was nice.

Scratch that it was until an idiotic man showed up.

Well, you can guess who it was.
