I looked around the table, God why I couldn't remember anything or anyone at least. Sighing I shook my head which brought Daniel's attention to me.
"Are you okay? Do you feel good? You want me to take you to-" he started asking me while looking at me concerned but I only shook my head silencing him.
"No, no, I'm fine." I said but didn't miss uncertainty in his eyes "Really. I'm fine. I just feel... I don't know... like, like I'm disappointing them all because I'm not remembering any of them." I said silently as I lowered my eyes to look at the little boy in my arms.
He was so cute. He had the same dark hair and blue eyes as his dad, Xavier. At first when he jumped in my lap and started to cry I panicked a little not knowing what to do.
He held into me like he was scared that I will disappear if he loosens his hold. I mean he still does. One of his arms is wrapped around my neck while other one is holding tightly sleeve of my dress in his small fist.
Daniel soothingly started to rub my back making me lift my head and look at him "No one here is judging you for your memory loss, okay? And don't go hard on yourself, remember what the doctor told you. If you can't remember that's fine, but don't force yourself into remembering. That wouldn't bring you any good." He said while looking at me.
Nodding my head I turned my eyes towards the little boy in my lap when he pulled on my hair slightly. "What's the matter?" I asked him and he pointed towards the glass of water by my side "Are you thirsty?" Reaching for the glass I gently place it against his lips letting him drink.
When he was finished he slowly pushed a glass away from him "Enough?" I asked him again making him nod. "He is so smart and cute." I coed looking at him.
There was a chuckle from beside me and I turned my head only to find Xavier looking at us with a smile playing on his lips.
"Yes, he is." He said making a smile stretch across my face and pink blush rose on my cheeks from his stare.
"How old is he?" I asked silently. "He's a year and four months." Xavier said looking at Emiliano. "Oh, he is still so little." I said looking down at Emiliano not be able to hold Xavier's stare.
I was about to ask Xavier how did we meet when my parents cut my thoughts short "Um, excuse us." Father said as he took my mother's hand and lead her towards the crowd of people.
'They are probably going to greet some of their friends.' I thought to myself as I turned my head towards Xavier.
"So, umm can you tell me how we met? Maybe I could remember something." I said to him hoping that I really would remember something.
He was about to answer my question but suddenly out of nowhere a heavy smell of seafood made my stomach flip.
The feeling of nausea took over me and I quickly lifted Emiliano from my lap. "Can you please take him?" I asked making Xavier nod and take Emiliano from my arms.
"Are you alright?" He asked and I quickly nodded my head but regretted it the moment the feeling of nausea got worse.
"Excuse me." I said as I quickly made my way towards the bathroom. Getting inside I walked towards the sink and splashed a little of water over my face.
"Are you okay dear?" A voice with a rich Italian accent said from behind me making me lift my head and look in the mirror seeing a woman standing behind me. Her eyes slowly widened when she saw me and a big smile stretched across her face.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I said while taking a deep breath, somehow I again smelled seafood which made me gag.
Quickly I ran towards one of the restroom stalls and started to empty my stomach. From behind me, I heard Daniel and a woman talk.
"You can't be here you know that right?" The women's voice said loudly. "Yeah, I know ma'am but my sister didn't feel alright so I came to check up on her." Dani said.
"Yeah, I can see that. Oh, poor thing do you want me to call an ambulance?" She asked and I lifted my head up turning around towards them. "No, miss it's not necessarily." That was all I could say before I started to gag again.
"Are you sure dear?" She asked but Daniel answered instead of me. "It's okay ma'am. She probably feels nauseous from the smell of something."
"Yeah, seafoo-od." I managed to croak before I started to empty my stomach once again.
"Okay, but are you sure that she is gonna be better later? It's no problem for me to call an ambulance."
"We are sure. This happened before. Her pregnancy is messing with her stomach so some certain smell or taste makes her feel nauseous." Daniel said and the woman squealed.
"Oh, really? She is pregnant? Well, that is a different story than. I remember when I was at your place. Just take your time and then walk outside a little and take fresh air." The woman said looking at her watch.
"Oh, I'm sorry but I must go." She added and we bided our goodbyes to her.
Taking Emiliano in my lap I watched as Antea hurriedly made her way into the restroom. I frowned looking at the way she just went but then snapped my head when Daniel cleared his throat.
"I'm gonna go check on her." He said but before he could go Dante stopped him.
"Is she alright? She looked pale." He said making Daniel sigh and shake his head slowly.
"I'm not gonna say anything, she is fine. But you gonna need to wait for her to come back from there.." he said as he pointed towards the restroom ".. and then ask her what is happening." With that, he turned around and followed the way Antea left.
His answer left me more confused than I already was. 'Is she sick or something?' I shook my head snapping out of my thoughts when Emiliano's little hand grabbed my face making me look at him.
"Mama, bye-bye." He said quietly while his lower lip trembled and his eyes started to get glassy from tears.
Quickly I brought his head and cradled it in my chest "No, no, mama only went to the restroom she's gonna come here again. Okay? Don't cry. She is gonna be here soon. Look." I said as I pointed towards the door to where she left.
"She is gonna return through this door any moment. If you want you can watch and wait till they open. Okay?" I asked as I pulled him a little away.
He nodded his little head making a small smile stretch across my lips. Bending down I kissed his temple and he leaned his head on my chest while looking at the door not blinking.
Lifting my head I looked at Dante "So, I'm gonna take it as you didn't know that she was with Daniel back home." I said and he quickly shook his head.
"No, I didn't know. I didn't even know that she decided to go home." He answered while rubbing a hand over his face.
"Wait, she went home that day?" I asked pulling my brows together in confusion.
"Yeah, it looks like that. Daniel said that she had a car crash near the border, well that's what police told him when he came to pick her up from the hospital."
"Whole this time we looked at wrong places." Moreno said as he looked at all of us.
"Yeah, and to think that-" I got cut when someone placed a hand on my shoulder. Lifting my head to look at the person I saw one of our family friends, Serafina. She is one of my mother's childhood friends so the two of them are close.
She beamed at me "Oh, Xavier dear, I just met your girlfriend in the restroom and I must admit she is more beautiful than the picture your mother showed me." She said to me while sending my mother a wink.
"Yeah, we aren't-" I started to say that we aren't together anymore but she cut me with simple words that made me freeze and look at her like she was crazy.
"Si, she is really beautiful, but why neither one of you didn't tell me that you gonna get another child?" She said as she looked at all of us with a hurt expression.
"Another child? What are you talking about, Serafina?" Mom said chuckling as she got to stand next to her kissing her cheek in greeting.
"Well your girlfriend didn't feel good so I was about to help her but then a boy came to help her. He said that he is her brother and when I asked would she like that I call an ambulance, he told me that that's not necessarily because her pregnancy is the reason for her not feeling good." Serafina said while looking at us with a frown but her expression quickly turned into one of horror as she looked at our shocked faces.
"Dio mio, she didn't tell you. Aah, she probably wanted to suprise you and now my big mouth ruined it."
