Rose's POV

A couple weeks have passed since I landed my blacksmith job, and let me tell you, I am learning so much. I am thinking of more powders and potential serums every day, so I am thankful that Miss Celeste shares my curiosity as well. I also carry around my journal everywhere incase I get inspiration from something or think of a question to ask.

My individual and Level 1 elemental lessons have only been getting harder. Mr.Casey expects a lot out of me due to our fight and has told Mr.Patterson to train me hard in my classes. Mr.Bychkov and Mr.Jacobs are both very demanding and stern teachers. Mr.Jacobs explains everything very well though, and passionately teaches me. Mr.Ivanov has been teaching me about Air Nomads and their lessons. Mr.Monroe also expects a lot out of me, and encourages me to meditate on my thoughts during my free time. Mr.Barden apologized and has been teaching me a lot of great moves to work on. He and Mr.Kato have similar teaching styles, but Mr.Barden doesn't let his past action hold him back from pushing me.

As for combat and weaponry, Mr.Howard has been working me nonstop. Although very tiring, my stamina has improved and I am able to run for longer distances. Not only this, but I only go against Mr.Howard during our battles. He challenges me with dueling and hand to hand combat often, every time victorious. I don't know the purpose of going against him if I lose every time, but I still give it my all. One thing I do like about Mr.Howard is that he does not hold back. Ever since I told him about my remedies, he isn't afraid to graze my skin with a sword or land hard punches in combat.

My dragon training has been going well, Belvedere and I have gotten even closer if that's possible. Artemis and Apollo have grown tremendously, both a bit smaller than Ampiere. I sleep in Apollo's stable every Monday, I sleep in Artemis's stable every Tuesday, and I sleep in Belvedere's stable every Friday.

I decorated the twins' stables individually, and now, all my dragons have personalized stables. Also the twins have been training with Belvedere everyday and are getting the hang of flying pretty well. The two are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the new dragons. Trent and Marcus are always telling me to be careful when I try new things with Belvedere, but I know they find it amusing. Speaking of, I can shoot arrows off of Belvedere while flying hundreds of feet in the air. It took a lot of practice and patience, but I can easily hit a bullseye now. I am waiting till the twins get stronger to try flying on them. They started speaking to me about a week ago, and let me say, a smile never left my face.

My Life forms and Creatures class has also been going good. I finished Miss Evelyn's books within two days and continued going to the library for information. I am learning more about creatures than I would have been able to had I not attended the Academy. Miss Evelyn is always telling me random facts about mythical creatures, and often engages in conversation with me when I have questions.

I am still considering whether or not to work at the sanctuary because am I undecided about the job. Applications for standard jobs are due next week and I still have to make a decision. I have gotten extremely close with the librarian since I have been going there almost everyday to read. I also conversed with the head chef and told him about my love for baking. He tasted a few of my pastries and meals, and now wants me to work in the kitchen for a fairly high pay grade. And, of course, my job at the blacksmith.

Mr.Gordon is extremely pleased with my work, and surprisingly, business has increased since I have worked there. When I first started crafting special orders, Mr.Gordon told me to leave a note with each one, explaining the design and meaning of it. He told me it can be like my signature of some sort, claiming the craftsmanship as mine. Mr.Gordon also had Headmaster Jackson spread the word of a 'prodigy' crafter in his shop, now I am getting more orders placed by the minute.

Although I have only been working for a few weeks, the amount of orders I have crafted has made me believe that I will have a hefty amount of money in my bank account by the end of this month. Mr.Gordon even gave me a designated workspace by a window and a key to the shop. I often work my orders in the morning before breakfast, or right after school. No matter the event, I have made it a tradition to watch the sunset with Belvedere everyday. It is time just for us two and I know that it reminds him of the time spent with his parents.

My training outside of class has also been brutal. I train with Oceanus, Nightshade, and Ampiere on Fridays. I work hard with my training outside of class so that I can improve my skills. During my free time, if I am not at work or training, I usually read, hangout with my friends, or meditate.

My friends have been very understanding and know that I am busy, yet I still make time for them. So as I said, life has been going good these past couple of weeks. Right now, I am practicing Sanskrit under a tree. I am in a small meadow that is closer to the woods, a little isolated from the rest of the school. I got a Sanskrit customs book from the library, and with a bit more practice, I believe I can become fluent in the ancient language.

Suddenly, I hear shouts coming from the Academy. With my enhanced hearing, I know that there is a problem. Being my curious self, I close my book and leave it in this meadow, I can always come back for it. I quickly make my way back towards the Academy.

I stop in my tracks when I see people running away from the courtyard with frightened looks. I run towards the courtyard, not wasting a spare moment. Not the smartest idea, but if there is a potential threat to the safety of my friends and companions, I will not hesitate to act on it. I see Miss Evelyn holding somebody's head in her lap. I rush to her, ignoring the scene.

"Miss Evelyn, what happened?!" I rush out. She is on the brink of tears, worry covering her face.

"We were transporting a wounded Chimera from beyond the barrier. He was sedated but has now woken up. Everett was hurt when the Chimera woke up and now the creature is feral. He gave into his animalistic instincts when he woke up in an unfamiliar place with humans surrounding him." She chokes out.

I notice the boy in her arms, Everett, taking short breaths. He has a long slash running from his left shoulder to hip and is bleeding out quickly. I quickly grab my healing powder and spread it over his wound. I generously cover every area of the slash, hoping it will slow the bleeding. Slowly but surely, the blood stops flowing and his wound begins closing up. I cap my vial, throwing it in my sword case, instead grabbing my energy serum. I place a few drops of my replenisher serum in his slightly ajar mouth.

His eyes flutter open and he groans in pain, I sigh in relief. Miss Evelyn finally releases her tears, thanking me repeatedly. She must have been traumatized to see a student under her watch almost die. I look up and see that one year 4 student and 2 adults are surrounding a ginormous Chimera. They have given the creature space, not wanting to scare it into self defense.

I rise from my position, slowly inching towards the Chimera. My hands are out in front of me and I am soon in the creature's line of sight. The adults side glance at me, but don't comment, not wanting to alert the Chimera. The large creature snaps his head towards me and begins growling loudly.

Normal chimeras are very strong, and have the body the body of a feline breed hybrid of other animals or creatures. Strong Chimeras may have a dragon head attached to their body with wings. This Chimera may be one of the more powerful of his kind. He is larger than any Chimera I have studied, and instead of having three different animal heads, he has a powerful lion body with two dragon heads and wings. His body is black with its feral state showing through. The veins in its legs are the same bright red color as his eyes.

Due to the slimness of the dragons necks, I can identify them as a part of the Drake ancestral line. They are usually calmer breeds, enjoying soothing activities. They are definitely the types of dragon to stay by your side as you sleep or meditate. The Chimera cocks his head at me, as if confused. He continues growling at me, not even registering the other three people right now.

I slowly take off my swords and other weapons. I set them on the ground so that the creature can tell that I will not use the unfamiliar items against him. I am aware that more powerful Chimeras are able to achieve mental connections with their companions, yet I do not want to let the creature into my mind quite yet. I slowly move ahead of the adults, getting closer to the feral animal. He growls louder at me, noticing my proximity.

With nothing else to do, I begin humming. I hum a familiar tune lowly, it soon turns into a melody. I gently sing the words to the Chimera, still edging closer. I know that the dragon blood in his body will soothe his tense state upon hearing my voice. His growls lessen, but the lion still bears his teeth. The song is a rhythmic melody often used to calm people or lull babies to sleep. * Let it Go - James Bay *

So come on, let it go Just let it be Why don't you be you And I'll be me?

Everything that's broke Leave it to the breeze Why don't you be you And I'll be me?

My voice is gentle and soft. I have never sung in front of others before, not even Oliver knows I sing. I carry the tune along with the wind. My voice holding out the notes with passion. By the end of the song, the Chimera has stopped growling, but looks at my figure wearily.

A few feet away from the Chimera, I sit down. Knowing that the creature has turned to his inner instincts, I make no move to shift from my sitting position. The Chimera approaches me with caution. He threateningly walks in my direction, the dragon heads on either side sniffing me out. The lion head also sniffs me, determining whether or not I am a danger to him. The creature steps away from me, still within an arms reach, and lays down. This is the first step of trust, he will see if I will make a move to hurt him now that he is not as alert. I begin humming along to another tune. My soft voice lulling the Chimera to relax and calm down. * Purpose - Justin Bieber *

I put my all into your hands Here's my soul to keep I let you in with all that I can You're not hard to reach And you've blessed me with the best gift That I've ever known You give me purpose Yeah, you've given me purpose

Thinkin' my journey's come to an end, oh Sending out a farewell to my friends For inner peace Ask you to forgive me for my sins Oh, would you please? I'm more than grateful for the time we spent My spirit's at ease

I sing the lyrics, unknowing if the Chimera can understand my words. I slowly reach out my hand to the creature. His eyes pierce into my hand, not completely trusting me yet. I force my hand further until it reaches the lions mane. I pet the Chimera while continuing the soothing melody. When the song ends, I shift closer to the creature so that I can pet him easier. The creature lowly growls at me, then stops when I only prove to pet his mane. The left dragon head of the Chimera lowers its head, looking me directly in the eye.

I stare right back into the red eyes and realize that they are shifting from that of bright red to a yellowish color. I don't know why, maybe because of how powerful this Chimera is, it can read my intentions, or maybe my aura. I still don't understand, but I continue with another song, just humming the base of this one. I continue to stroke the lion's mane, calming the creature. When I look back into its eyes, they resemble a greenish-yellow. I have tamed the Chimera. I continue petting his main head, my attention now shifted to my surroundings.

I see the adult tamers looking dumbfounded, the other kid in awe. I see Miss Evelyn supporting Everett's weight, both looking at me wide eyed. I see a few other of my instructors looking at me in utter shock, as if in a trance. I then shift my gaze to Headmaster Jackson. His face gives off no indication of any of his thoughts, though I can see traces of curiosity lingering in his eyes.

"Miss Evelyn," I speak up for the first time. "I will need you to show me where to take the Chimera, but you will need to walk at least 5 meters in front of me the whole time." I inform her. "Headmaster, I need you to make sure nobody crosses our path. No instructors, no students, no one. This Chimera is still weary of everyone. Why he trusts me, I don't know. But everyone," I say, looking at the gathered crowd. "Will need to be at least 9 meters away from where I will be walking. Can you do this please?" I ask. He nods, immediately ushering everyone far back.

"Everett, you need to visit the infirmary. My powder can only work so well." I tell him. He nods, dismissing himself from the situation. Miss Evelyn looks like she wants to follow up with his condition, but stays with me and the powerful creature. While everyone is being ushered away, I talk to the Chimera in a gentle voice.

"Do you have a name?" I ask. The lion head looks at me inquisitively, both dragon heads doing the same. "I know you can't communicate with me, but I can't just keeping calling you 'the Chimera'." I tell him. I think for a moment before talking to the creature once again. "How about Caesar?" I ask. The Chimera perks up at the name and I laugh. "I am going to assume that means yes." I say. Caesar purrs when I scratch behind his ear, running my other hand through his mane.

"Well, my name is Rose." I start off, then look at the dragon heads. "And I have 3 dragon companions." I say. The Chimera snaps all of his heads in my direction. I lightly chuckle. "Yes, three dragons. My fated companion, Belvedere, is a northern healing dragon. This is my companion mark." I turn my back so Caesar can see. "My other companions are Artemis and Apollo. It is kind of ironic because they are both powerful twins and are of unidentifiable breeds. Artemis used to whine about his girly sounding name until I told him the meaning of it in Greek Mythology and that it is a universally unisex name. Artemis is a matte-black dragon and Apollo is a bright gold dragon. I love both of them very much, and they have lots of fun pranking Belvedere together." I laugh recalling a few memories.

"They are only a few weeks old, but are so big that they can pass for older dragons. Me? I am a Multi-Wielder of all of the elements and, you guessed it, a Dragon Rider." I talk one sidedly to Caesar. I sigh. "Can you give me a sign showing that you understand me? Personally, I think I may look stupid if I am talking to a Chimera that doesn't understand a word of what I am saying." Caesar rolls all six of his eyes, standing up on his legs. I follow suit and his figure looms over me. He licks my face.

"Was that the sign?" I ask him. He licks my face again. I nod. "We are going to need some kind of code, because I can't go around smelling like Chimera breath everywhere I go." I giggle. The dragon heads look cheekily at me.

"How about .... oh, how about sticking out your tongue for yes, growling for no, and huffing a small flame of fire if you are unsure?" I suggest. Caesar sticks out his lion's tongue in response, I laugh at his willingness. "I am going to have to get used to that." I chuckle. Caesar rolls all of his eyes again. "That too." I add. The dragon heads snort in amusement. I see Headmaster Jackson give me the all clear.

"Okay Caesar, I need to walk you to the sanctuary. Nobody will be there in the way, just me and you. One person will be ahead of us, but that is just so she can help me guide you through the sanctuary." I tell him. He growls at me and I sigh. "I will ask Miss Evelyn for the job of a tamer so I can care for you everyday. I know that you don't trust anybody else, so that is why I need to help nurse you back to health. I assure you that no harm will come to you. In this case, your scariness will be in your favor, nobody in their right mind would come near you." I say. "Well, except me, but that is because I am a bit more daring and curious." I add. Caesar huffs out of his dragons' nostrils.

"I know that you are unsure, but this is the best option right now. I'm asking you to trust me, please." I plead to Caesar. He lowers his head in defeat and begins walking by my side when I move forward.

"Thank you, it mustn't be easy to trust someone you just met. Yet again, who am I to be talking." I tell him. Caesar shakes his head in amusement, cautiously looking at his surroundings. I lead him to the sanctuary, crowds of students gathered far away from the Chimera and I. I guide him through the halls of the sanctuary by following Miss Evelyn's path. I open a door that has medical equipment in it and a table. I let Caesar through the door and look at everything.

"So let's heal that wound of yours, yes?" I clap. Caesar sticks out his tongue, I smile at the sight. The Chimera lays down and rolls over, exposing the burns on his stomach. They look deeper than my powder can fix and are blistering. I gasp. "Caesar." I sigh sadly. I gather lots of burn ointment and some bandages. I put on some gloves and sit down next to him.

"This will hurt, and it would have been treated better given someone more experienced than I help you." I brief him. With that, I take some of the burn ointment and gently apply it to a deep burn. His charred stomach region needing some medicine badly. He growls as I continue applying the remedy. I spread it over all of his minor burns and blisters first, saving the worst for last. When everything but the worst burn is covered, my eyes tears up. I take a good amount of cream and press it to the burn. Caesar roars in despair, a lone tear escapes my eye ducts. He should not be experiencing this pain, it is unfair. These types of burns can only be caused by a fire wielder, why would they do this?

"I'm sorry." I whisper to the Chimera as I almost finish applying the medicine. Caesar whines in pain at my last touch. I close up the ointments and put them aside. I take off my gloves as well and roll out the bandages. "The hard part is over, but I will need you to stand in order to bandage your stomach." I say to him.

He slowly gets up, letting me visualize how I will bandage his stomach. It will be hard with his dragon heads and wings in the way, but I can work around that. I begin bandaging up Caesar's entire burn area, cutting the bandage where it may be uncomfortable for the creature's other limbs. When I finish wrapping the bandages around Caesar, I secure them and kiss him on his main forehead.

"You did so well." I say. "Try not to tear at them, I will reapply them tomorrow." I tell him. I walk to the door, calling over Miss Evelyn. She gives me instructions on where to take the Chimera and give him food if he is hungry. After this, she tells me to meet her in her office.

I lead Caesar out of the door, taking him to the more secluded habitats of the sanctuary. These areas are for creatures who are not completely safe to be around, very powerful, or are wounded. Caesar applies to all three. I take him into a gated section for Chimeras. I see two other figures in the enclosure, one creature has bandages on his leg, the other with a bandaged dragon wing. They snap their heads to Caesar and I.

"This is where you will stay and spend most of your time. I will feed you and the other Chimeras if possible okay?" I ask. Caesar huffs fire. I think for a moment before entering the enclosure with the other two Chimeras inside of it. They growl at me, unaware of my intentions. Caesar steps protectively in front of me.

"No no no. None of that." I scold the three creatures. "You all must play friends while you are in here, understand?" I say. Caesar sticks out his tongue, and the other Chimeras look at him curiously. It is silent for a moment before the other Chimeras stick out their tongues. I guess Caesar briefed them on our codes. "Perfect. I am going to sing to you all until I can sense that you are more at ease." I state. I look to the other two creatures in the area.

"I will need to think of a name for both of you. Caesar here has been blessed by my impeccable name choosing already, soon, you two will as well. I picked out his name because Caesar means thick head of hair in Latin." I tell the others. Their individual dragon heads snort in amusement. The first creature is a bit shorter than Caesar. He too has a lion body, with a single dragon head, and an eagle head. I don't know what happened, but he has thick bandages wrapped around his left wing.

"Hmm. I will call you Aurelius, it meaning golden in Latin translation." I point to the first Chimera. He sticks out his tongue at the name. I look to the second Chimera. He has a body of a snow leopard, a white dragon head, and a ram head as well. His bandaged leg lays on the plant covered ground of the enclosure.

" I will call you Cornelius. It means horn in Latin translation." I point to the second creature, he too sticks out his tongue. I clap in excitement. I get closer to Cornelius and Aurelius, Caesar close by my side. I sit down and begin humming once again. My humming soon turns into a gentle song. * Talking to the Moon - Bruno Mars *

At night when the stars Light up my room I sit by myself Talking to the moon Tryna get to you In hopes you're on The other side Talking to me too Or am I a fool Who sits alone Talking to the moon

I close my eyes, taking note of my calming voice. I finish the song and begin another one. I stop singing once I realize that the Chimera's are soundly asleep. I slowly rise and quietly walk to the gate, exiting the enclosure. I make way towards Miss Evelyn's office. When I enter, she looks up to me and smiles gratefully. I also notice Fedir in the corner of the room.

"Please sit." She motions towards the loveseat in front of her desk. "I want you to work as a tamer at the sanctuary." She looks me in the eyes. I smile and nod my head.

"I was just going to ask to become one." I tell her. She smiles widely at my words and clears her throat.

"Perfect! At the sanctuary, we take care of mythological creatures and nurse them back to health. We only have 2 student tamers, Everett and David. Both of their abilities only go as far as keeping the creatures from attacking everyone. You displayed the courage needed to be a tamer and already show great potential. Not only did you tame a feral, very powerful and dangerous Chimera, you gained its trust. Not even the adults on standby could get near the Chimera." She praises. I thank her and blush at her words.

"I facilitate all of the workers at the sanctuary and Mr.Everglade facilitates every creature's progress. The purpose for you to work here will be to work with the more out of control animals. You will be tasked with more stubborn, dangerous, and powerful creatures. It is a dangerous job, but you will be compensated quite fairly. We have a few students working as cleaners of the enclosures and others who prepare the food. Seeing as how the Chimera only trusts you, you will be feeding him. Maybe we could get you to feed the other Chimeras as well, I only say this because both are very hostile and are potential threats to the workers here. Mr.Everglade is currently the only one who comes close to the enclosure." She informs me. I raise an eyebrow.

"Aurelius and Cornelius? They were hesitant to relax around me, but they did not act as you described them to. The reason why I came here when I did was because I got the three Chimeras to fall asleep. I was in the enclosure with the two just a moment ago, they are not as bad as you make them out to be." I tell her. "And yes, I did name them." I add. She looks at me in shock, writing something down.

"Well now you will surely be the one to feed and care for them, they hardly let Mr.Everglade give them their food. Anyway, this is my plan for you. I will give you a pager, much like the one you wear for your blacksmith job. The only difference is in the glow of the lights. We base the glows on the danger capacity of the animal. A purple glow represents a creature that is agitated. A blue glow represents a creature that is becoming difficult to care for. A green glow represents a creature that will not allow for any human contact. A yellow glow represents a creature that is growling and may or may not be a threat. An orange glow represents a creature that is becoming or has become a threat to the worker's safety. A red glow represents a creature that is either feral or has hurt somebody in self defense. If you get a red page, you must leave to the location immediately, for someone may be in danger. You will mostly get yellow or orange pages. I will only allow for you to answer red pages under the conditions that you proceed with caution and are very careful. Everett and David used to help each other with the more dangerous pages, but now they can use their gifts for creatures that are more within their abilities. You may occasionally get a green or blue page, but that will only be if neither Everett nor David has answered it. Give me a moment to get your contract together." She tells me. I nod, observing how Fedir has not awaken from his slumber. Miss Evelyn places three papers in front of me.

"Why hasn't Fedir woken up?" I ask before she can begin talking. "Usually if another aura is present in a space other than their companion, they are at least alert." I say confused.

"He doesn't take you as a threat. In fact, Fedir holds great respect for the knowledge you possess." She shrugs. "These are three copies of your contract, one for you, one for me, and one for Headmaster Jackson. I have underlined the main components of the contract that you need to be aware of. It states how you will work around the clock and take care of more dangerous creatures. Observing your talents today has reassured me that you are capable of taming animals. Usually, tamers only relax animals, not care for them. But because the group of Chimeras only trust you, this will be apart of your job requirement. You will be paid $27 an hour for the time you work. This is an above average pay grade because you have to both tame and care for the dangerous animals. You will also be paid for today's efforts and compensated saving another student's life. This is all mentioned in your contract. Please read over the papers and sign them when you are ready." She says to me.

I read the contract three separate times, all exactly the same as the previous one. I make sure to understand all of the job requirements before signing my name on all of the papers. Miss Evelyn takes my contract and hands it to me in the same protective covering that Mr.Gordon used. I thank her for the job and leave the sanctuary.

'Star, can you ask Headmaster Jackson if he has my things I placed on the floor? I also left a book in the clearing by the pond.' I bond-link her.

'Give me a second.' She says. 'Yes, he says your book, sword, and other belongings have been returned to your dorm. Miss Celeste has also granted you access to her room to replace your vials.' Star answers me.

'Thank you.' I say. I get to my dorm, shower, and lay down on my bed. I ended up giving away some of the treats the Wilson's gifted me a while ago because there was no way I could have possibly finished them all. Let's just say that the Academy faculty was very pleased that day. I close my eyes and get ready to take a quick nap, needing rest after my eventful Saturday morning.
