A/N: Just remember that you asked for this!!!
Strong arms squeezing his body brought Raephier back to the present. It was only then that he realised he was shuddering as sobs wracked his body. Rather worryingly he also felt his whole body tingle in a very familiar way. He knew he needed to calm down, and quickly.
"Shhhh, it's ok, it's all over now," Jacob said soothingly, as he stroked Raephier's hair.
Jacob's calming voice worked and the tingles subsided, yet Raephier only sobbed harder in the knowledge that it wasn't over. It would never be over.
Jacob just held him, offering soothing words every now and again, and Raephier was thankful that for once he didn't have to pretend he was ok.
When Raephier's tears had slowed and his breathing was under control again, Jacob said,
"You don't need to tell me anymore if you don't want. I understand if it is too painful."
"No," Raephier replied immediately, shocking Jacob and even himself with the resolve in his voice. "I need to go on. I've never told this to anyone and I think it's just something I have to do."
"Ok then," Jacob said, resuming his stroking. "You can tell me anything. We've got all night if you want."
Raephier nodded slightly, then took some deep calming breaths, readying himself for the rest of the story.
(Flashback Continued)
The song just seemed to flow out of Raephier's body. It was a beautiful sound. Almost too perfect to be made from a living creature. He wasn't sure at all how he was doing it, but he knew that all his emotions were now flowing out of him in this song.
He looked across at Jas to see his reaction.
Jas's eyes were wider than Raephier had ever seen them, and he had the biggest smile on his face, making Raephier smile right back.
"I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" Raephier said, noticing that talking didn't interrupt the flow of the song at all.
"It's beautiful!" Jas said with a breathy sigh.
Raepheir was about to agree but Jas continued.
"And you're beautiful too," he said.
Raephier squirmed, rather embarrassed by the compliment, but then he noticed that underneath all that tingly energy that was humming round his body, he felt different. Something felt......kinda off.
"I'm handsome, not beautiful!" he replied, trying to keep his tone light and teasing.
Jas smiled, and Raephier felt his legs threaten to buckle.
"Are you saying I don't know what beautiful is? Me? The Prince? Who has been introduced to countless Princesses who have been described as the fairest in the land?"
All the time he was talking, Jas was creeping slowly forward towards Raephier, his eyes never leaving his. It sent all the nerves in Raephier's body into overdrive. He felt like he was being stalked. Jas was looking at him like he was ready to devour him. Jas had never looked at him like that before and Raephier was beginning to realise that he might never recover from this experience.
"I-I'm thinking that y-you don't know yourself right now," Raephier said, moving slowly backwards.
Jas stopped immediately and pouted at Raephier, a look that left Raephier trembling in anticipation. He'd seen that look on Jas before. He'd used it on him before to get his own way. But never with this intensity. Never while flirting.
"Do you not want me?" he asked, making Raephier's chest squeeze slightly.
"You don't want me," Raephier said firmly, more to remind himself than anything.
Jas looked astounded then laughed.
At first Raephier thought it was a joke, and Jas had finally cracked and he wasn't affected by the song after all. But then Jas suddenly lunged forwards and grabbed hold of Raephier's hands in his.
"I want you more than I want life itself," Jas said firmly, "I want you and only you. I want to be yours for the rest of my life. I promise you, I have never wanted anything more."
Raephier was torn between swooning and laughing.
"Oh Jas," he said fondly, shaking his head.
Jas inched closer making Raephier draw in a quick breath.
"Say you'll be mine," Jas whispered.
He was so close now that Raephier could see the many different colours of green in his eyes.
Jas lifted one of Raephier's hands to his face and kissed it gently.
Raepheir felt a fluttering in his stomach at the gesture.
"Your hands are so dainty," Jas said in awe.
Raephier frowned. He had never been particularly tall but his hands were certainly not small.
He was about to argue, when he caught sight of them himself.
They were!!!! In fact......
Raephier pulled his hands out of Jas's grip and stared at them in shock. They weren't his hands at all!
Something clicked in his mind, and he quickly stared down at his body. He had breasts!!!! And a petite feminine figure! And blonde hair! Lots of it!
"I told you! Beautiful!" Jas said.
Raephier felt his body deflate. Jas didn't think he was beautiful. He didn't love him. He loved this apparition that his body had created.
He turned and moved away quickly. Raephier didn't want to do this anymore. It hurt. It was stupid when he thought about it. He knew that Jas didn't feel the same way as he did. But there was a difference between knowing in his mind and actually being presented with it to your face.
Clearly what Jas liked was pretty blondes with big boobs.
He hit his chest with force, hoping to knock them back in, but he cringed as it hurt a lot more than he expected.
He faintly registered that Jas was following him, pleading with him to come back.
The song! He was still singing.
He shut his eyes and willed the song to stop. But it just kept on going. How was he supposed to stop it?
"Wait!" Jas said, catching up with Raephier and taking hold of his wrist to stop him from pulling away.
"What!" Raephier snapped back at him.
Jas flinched back, making a small slither of guilt flow through Raephier.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you," Jas said, and to Raephier's surprise, he saw Jas's jaw start to wobble.
Was he about to cry? He'd never seen Jas cry before!
"Please," Jas said desperately. "I'll do anything! I'm sorry! I love you so much, please tell me what to do and I'll do it!"
Raepheir just stared in amazement. The curse really did work. But it was also a little upsetting to see Jas looking so distressed.
"It's ok," he said, putting a hand onto Jas's cheek and smiling gently. "I know you do."
Finally Jas smiled a little, and Raephier couldn't help but smile back. How different his life would have been if Jas really did love him.
Raephier gulped as Jas moved in closer and put his arms around Raephier's back.
"Is this ok?" Jas asked, with a mischievous glint in his eye.
It was ok. It was more than ok. Raephier's heart was close to beating out of his chest.
Jas shuffled forward just a little more until their bodies were flush together. Not for the first time, Raephier wished that he didn't have two mounds of flesh between them getting in the way.
"I never thought I'd ever get to know what love feels like," Jas said, reminding him of why he agreed to do this in the first place.
"What does it feel like?" Raephier whispered back.
Jas smiled. "It feels like coming home."
Raephier bit his lip to fight off his emotions. Whenever Jas travelled as part of his duties as a prince, he always said that he knew he was home when he saw Raephier.
Perhaps there was a part of Jas that loved him. Probably just as a friend, but still, it was a thought that comforted Raephier, and made him momentarily forget that he was currently a busty blonde.
Then Raephier suddenly realised something. This was an opportunity. A unique situation that he was never going to be in again. And there was a good chance that Jas might not even remember it.
There were so many things that Raephier had dreamed of telling Jas, that he knew he never could. Well this was his chance to do that.
Jas was looking at him like he was the most precious thing in the world, and it both made his heart sing and weep.
Raephier swallowed the lump in his throat, then closed his eyes briefly to gather up the courage he needed.
Then he looked Jas in the eyes.
"Jas, I love you. I think I've loved you for a long time, but it took me a while to realise what it was. I know that you don't love me the same way, and I know you'll go off in a few months to find your new bride, but I just wanted you to know that you are loved. And you always will be."
Jas just stared right back like it was taking a few moments for the words to sink in, then the biggest, brightest smile stretched across his face.
"I love you too," he said, and then he leaned in so their noses were touching, their lips tantalisingly close.
Raephier knew that Jas had stopped to ask for permission. After all, a kiss was the equivalent of a marriage proposal.
Raephier knew that he should pull back. He knew that Jas wasn't himself. But he wanted to know what it would be like. What his lips would feel like on his.
"Please?" Jas whispered.
And Raephier could never say no to Jas.
He gave a small nod, and that was enough for Jas to close the space between them, their lips crashing together.
The moment their lips touched, Raephier felt a burst of energy erupt within him. It made him feel like he was soaring through the heavens. This was nothing like when he had briefly kissed Khloe.
He felt his arms tighten around Jas, almost like he was afraid he would just disappear, and he felt their kiss deepen as Jas opened his mouth allowing Raephier's tongue to dance with his.
Raepheir felt like he was drowning in pleasure. He could feel it. He could feel the love radiating off Jas and pouring into his body. The only way he could describe it would be to say it was like being hugged from the inside. He never wanted it to stop.
But then he felt Jas's body go limp in his arms, making them break their connection.
"Jas!" Raephier said, trying to blink away the dizziness he was feeling from his high.
But Jas was now like a dead weight in his arms, so Raephier gently lay him down.
"Jas!" he said, shaking him gently. "Jas!"
But there was no response.
Raepheir started to feel a trickle of fear work it's way down his spine.
"JAS!!!" he said, shaking him quite roughly now.
There was no response. The silence around them made Raephier realise that the song had stopped. It had stopped the moment Jas went limp in his arms.
"HELP!!!!!" Raephier shouted.
He kept shaking Jas, pleading with him to wake up.
"HELP!!!!!"
It was no good. There was rarely anyone around here, that was why they used it as their meeting place.
Raephier scooped Jas up in his arms and began to head back home as quickly as he could, getting increasingly frustrated with how long it was taking him.
All the way Raephier begged for him to be ok. But somewhere in his heart he already knew that he wasn't.
As soon as he entered the settlement, he screamed again.
"Help someone!!! Please help me!!!"
This time he was heard by many, and bodies flocked to him to see what was wrong.
"Get help! We need a healer! Quick!" he shouted.
Finally Jas was lifted out of his arms by several pairs of hands and Raephier collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.
"What is it? What's going on?" came the voice of Jeremiah, one of the healers.
Raepheir didn't answer him. He couldn't. All he could do was lie on the ground with his eyes closed, listening to the sounds around him.
He heard more voices, panicked voices. And then he heard someone crying. And then there were more people crying. And he knew. He just knew.
"Someone get the King and Queen!" another voice shouted.
"What do I tell them?" someone asked.
"Tell them....tell them that their son has died. Then bring them here."
Raephier felt like the air had been sucked out of his body. In many ways, he wished it had.
"Raephier! Raephier! What happened?" someone asked, shaking Raephier to get his attention.
Raepheir finally opened his eyes and found his father looking back at him. His father's eyes were wide and afraid.
Raephier opened his mouth to say that he didn't know, but then his whole body just broke down in sobs.
His father pulled him into his chest, consoling him and telling him everything would be ok.
But it wasn't ok. And Raephier was pretty sure it would never be again.
"I killed him father!" he wailed. "I killed him!"
