=======================================
"Frankly, I don't know what in the heck is wrong with Tea." Duke shrugged his shoulders, "She's always, like, mean to (y/n) specifically and I don't know why."
"Did she do something again?" Joey asked as his eyes narrowed.
"Yeah," Duke nodded, "While you were unconscious, Tea full-on went rude on (y/n). Like, she was being extremely pessimistic, and then she started shitting on (y/n) for no reason."
Yami's eyes narrowed, "What do you mean by that?"
"Like, for no reason Tea goes 'well Yugi sees everyone as friends but not in my eyes', things like that." Duke mimicked her as he quoted her exact words; giving you a headache upon recalling it. Joey physically flinched and shook his head,
"Did she really say that?" Joey asked,
"Yeah, and she went all 'well at least friends tell everyone their secrets', like so demanding on (y/n). Like she made the atmosphere worse and for some magical reason Tristan kept trying to defend her." Duke rolled his eyes, "Like, come on."
"Aw man, Tristan defended her?" Joey's face scrunched,
"Yeah, he kept like, saying how both (y/n) and Tea need to stop when really the only person who needed to stop was Tea. And when she angrily left, Tristan ran after her like a lost puppy. Not to mention he tried justifying her actions when he got back and was all mad when I told him that (y/n) was right." Duke shrugged, "Like seriously, Yugi, I mean no offense in asking, but what were you thinking in being friends with her?"
"Duke." Yami narrowed his eyes,
"I mean, come on, I know you see it too. She's only like this when (y/n) is around." Duke said, "Like, seriously what is up with her?"
"For some miraculous reason, Tea doesn't like the idea of people not telling her everything." Joey rolled his eyes and looked at you, "Sorry 'bout that, (y/n). Tea is a real piece of art."
"No, it's fine.." You shook your head, "It's just the way she is."
"She's not always like that, (y/n)." Yami turned to you, "She's really kind and an amazing friend."
"Not to (y/n)." Duke rolled his eyes, "look, I'm not into like, causing anything, but Tea is seriously overstepping her boundaries."
"No, I agree with ya." Joey nodded, "She's a real weird one, she tried tellin' me that she saw ya as a friend."
"Me?" You perked up and watched Joey nod,
"Yeah, when I asked her about how she's being really mean, she said she cherished ya as much as everyone else."
"Bull." Duke scoffed, "I recall that too, she doesn't act like a friend to her though."
"She would be like a switch, but I don't mind." You partially lied. In all honesty, you really didn't care nor want to care about her. After earlier's confrontation, you literally wanted nothing from her. You just wanted to leave this tournament and never talk to anyone except for Yami and Joey....and maybe Duke. Honestly, the people in this room are the only people you genuinely like besides Mokuba and Seto (to some extent).
"I've noticed some strange behavior from Tea, but I never thought she'd go like this." Yami's hands overlapped and he looked at you, "I am so sorry you have to see Tea like that. She really isn't like that."
"No no, I never doubted her friendship to begin with." You assured, "I'm sure she's nice. Would love to see that."
You didn't notice, but Yami flinched when you said that. Only Joey saw that, and Joey clenched his fists and looked at Duke,
"I'll try to get more info outta her. Not only that but I'm gonna talk to Tristan about it too. This isn't fair at all."
"That's what I was gonna say," Duke shrugged, "I was hoping we'd confront Tea about it, but when I tried asking she just left and said it's "too much" or whatever."
"Sounds like her." Joey groaned, "God, knowing this all happened when I was unconscious."
"The atmosphere just made it worse, that's it." You shrugged, "I'm sure she's all good now that Yugi won and you're awake."
"I mean, that doesn't justify how she talked to you." Duke frowned,
"It doesn't, it really doesn't." Joey shook his head, "Before Tea walks in all suspicious, I'm gonna meet with everyone else downstairs and beat Kaiba."
You blinked and stared at Joey in confusion, "What?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna duel Kaiba." Joey said with a grin, "I'm gonna beat his stupid face for a bronze medal!"
"....a bronze medal?" You furrowed your eyebrows,
"Yeah! See ya! I recommend leaving here, cause I just know Tea is gonna come up and look for us." Joey put his hands in his pockets and left the infirmary. Duke shrugged his shoulders and looked at you,
"Tea's a weird pack, but she's nice? We're gonna keep asking why she's like this at you."
"You don't have to," You shook your head, "Really, you don't. It's thoughtful, but you don't have to."
You really didn't want to enter Tea's mindset, you honestly feared for what other insults and judgemental thoughts she has on you.
"Nah, we are. To be honest, she was like that at me for some time...and some girl named Rebecca. It's just for some reason, Tea has an extra warranty on you." Duke frowned,
"Rebecca?" You blinked, "Who is Rebecca?"
"A young girl that Yugi met earlier before the tournament." Yami responded, "She has a crush on Yugi-" Yami flinched and rubbed his shoulder.
"Well, either way, Tea becomes really weird when new people come into play, so you're not the only one suffering." Duke winked, "See ya guys, don't smooch for too long!"
Your cheeks immediately heated up and you covered your face. Yami flinched and stared down at Duke with his cheeks completely red,
"D-D-Duke-" Yami stuttered as Duke smirked and left the infirmary to leave you and Yami alone.
"....Y-Yami," You squeaked out, "Look....I-I don't expect much from Tea, a-and I want no like drama or anything-"
Yami cleared his throat, "(y/n), Tea is the least of your concerns. Do not waste your time thinking about Tea's sudden shift in attitude." He said while slapping his cheeks as though he can slap the redness away. Raising an eyebrow at him, you watched him lean forward and look at you with concern, "Let's ignore Duke's....notion...and follow them to see Joey and Kaiba duel."
"Oh...yeah...sure." You nodded and stretched as you got up, "What's with this bronze medal?"
"Joey feels the need to duel him." Yami shrugged, "He wants to give Kaiba a piece of humble pie."
"What?" You furrowed your eyebrows, "Joey thinks he can be able to teach Kaiba anything relating to humbleness?"
"Worth a shot."
"You've been literally doing that since you first met him and he still is the way he is." You frowned as Yami rolled his eyes,
"Maybe with Joey it'll be different?"
"Ooh~?" You smirked, "So I guess you'd say Joey has some special place in Kaiba's cold, icy heart?"
Yami's eyes widened upon the idea as his feet stopped in place. It seemed it never had occurred to him about that.
"You know, (y/n). You really do open my eyes to a lot of things."
"Exactly." You nodded, "Change my mind."
"Now hold on..." Yami paused and rested his hand on his hip, "...wait you got a really good point."
"Mhm." You nodded confidently, "Always do."
Yami furrowed his eyebrows as he put his other hand on his chin, now suddenly thinking about all the interactions Kaiba and Joey had. ".....Joey does seem to tug a few strings in Kaiba, not in any way I nor Yugi can."
"I'm telling you." You nodded, "Now watch, Joey and Kaiba are gonna duel right? Keep watch in how they talk to each other."
"I will. Do you think we should talk to Joey about it?" Yami asked,
You stared at him as the door opened, "What for?"
"To see if the direction we're taking this is the right one." Yami laughed as he walked with you out.
"No no no!" You shook your head, "If we do that, then it's gonna mess with the vibe! Ya gotta take it back and watch how it escalates before the confrontation. That's how people normally handle situations like this."
"So you're experienced with romance?" Yami asked,
"Nope." You shook your head, "Being isolated makes you incredibly bored, so I search up videos."
That isn't a lie. To keep your mind off things, you would normally search up random things on the internet out of pure entertainment.
"Ah, I see." Yami sneered with a tiny smile on his face, "Speaking of, I really want to ask you something."
"Hm?" You looked at him, "What is it?"
"Well..." Yami's eyes averted to the ground, "I've been thinking, well, (y/n), since you're inexperienced...as so am I...w-would you like to start an experience with me?"
You stared at him in pure confusion, what experience is he talking about? Are you dumb?
"Experience?" You blinked, "With what?"
Yami started to look visibly panicked as his cheeks went red, "Y-Y-You know...e-e-experience with going o-out...just the two of us..."
Just the two-
....hold on.
Is he asking you out?
Your brain shuts down the moment you processed his question, first off, what in the timing? There is a whole prophecy (two at the very least) and the first thing Yami is asking is a date?
"I-I know the timing is a bit off.." Yami gulped, "..I-I figured after this whole thing is over we can....you know..." Yami rubbed the back of his neck, his eyes completely avoiding you.
Oh, this guy is Nervous.
You gulped and stared at the floor with your cheeks turning red as well. Are you even allowed to go on a date with him? He's someone who is possibly levels higher than you, what makes you think you're allowed? On the second note, is the Seal gonna let you? You wouldn't dare take another opportunity to escape your prophecy once more for Yami.
...But for some reason, you really couldn't refuse.
"I-I mean..." You gulped, "...I-I don't have anything to do after this tournament?"
Lies. You knew deep in your guts that was a lie. But watching Yami's eyes light up with a smile he couldn't hide, you lost the heart to refuse.
"R-Really?" Yami chirped, "G-Good...th-that's good...w-we can talk more details later...you know, once this tournament is done."
"Y-Yeah...obviously." You nodded, "S-So then, now that's settled, let's head and check out the duel."
"O-Of course." Yami nodded and awkwardly followed you.
By the gods themselves, you found Yami to be incredibly confusing. Some days, he's as bold as anyone with his affectionate routines but the next he's like a middle schooler realizing what a crush is. You'll never understand men.
It didn't take long before you felt your hand being held and Yami soon caught up next to you.
"Wh-What do you think is happening down with Joey and Kaiba?" Yami asked,
"You want me to be honest?" You asked, "Kaiba's probably kicking Joey's butt."
"Now now, (y/n)." Yami sighed, "Joey isn't a bad duelist."
"Not saying he isn't." You shrugged, "Just knowing how Kaiba is 'n all..."
"...true." Yami muttered, "But let's not lose hope in Joey. I'm sure Joey will win."
You and Yami finally made it to Joey and Kaiba's duel and watched them intensely. As you advised, both you and Yami were especially looking into how Joey and Kaiba are interacting.
"You know, Joey and Kaiba's mutual hatred of each other is making this duel hard to watch," Duke mumbled,
"I summon Gearfried in attack mode ya son of a bitch!" Joey hissed,
"I activate enemy controller you ass-clown!" Kaiba sneered,
"Rich boy!" Joey hissed,
"Hecher wuss!" Kaiba hissed in return,
"Money bags!" Joey hissed,
"Idiot with blonde hair!" Kaiba hissed,
"I hate you!" Joey hissed,
"I hate you a slightly larger amount!" Kaiba hissed back,
"You hear that? That right there?" You whispered to Yami, "No way Kaiba talks like that to anyone else."
"(y/n) they made it clear they hate each other." Yami raised an eyebrow,
"Haters to lovers arc." You crossed your arms and nodded. Yami slowly averted his gaze to you with the most confused look before he shook his head with a smile and stared back at the game. After about a few more minutes, you felt Yami's hand's hand gripped onto you and you felt your whole side go heavy. Snapping your attention to the source, you find Yami leaning on you looking extremely dizzy.
"Woah, you alright?" Shifting your entire attention to Yami, you straighten him up and hold him in place. He looked completely out of it as he looked down on his puzzle,
"(y/n)...I have a bad feeling..." He mumbled,
"About what?" You feared it was the anxiety about this whole thing now creeping on him. The mere idea of him having an anxiety attack made you want to snatch it all away and put it in your place instead; the thought of him having an ounce of what you go through struck something in your heart in a way you could not explain.
"It's...it's about Tea." Yami started acting up, "(y/n), we need to check on Tea."
"What? Why?" You were taken back by his response, it was not what you were expecting. His hands gripped your arms and he leaned to look at Joey, "Joey, we'll be right back." He told him as he immediately took off, dragging you with him.
"Now hold on-" You were still processing what's happening as Yami ran back inside the tower. "Yami, if you would-"
"It's Tea." Yami stared at you, "She's in danger...I-I can't explain but.....but we've got to go."
"Oh....alright? No details or anything?" You asked as Yami frantically looked around,
"...We need to go up," Yami muttered,
'Yeah...so that's a no...' You mentally sighed and looked at the nearest elevator, "...There's an elevator over there."
"(y/n), you're an angel." Yami briefly smiled at you as he ran over to the elevator. You quickly followed and went in the elevator with him and the door closed. Without hesitation, Yami pressed the button for the highest floor.
"...What makes you think she's in danger?" You asked,
"...The Millenium Puzzle. It's warning me about her." Yami answered as he clutched his puzzle, "I have a really bad feeling."
"Got it." You nodded and leaned against the railing. This guy never catches a break. Yami intensely stared at the ceiling as the elevator ran up the floors to reach the roof. You honestly couldn't help but feel bad for him,
"You know," You sighed, "It's okay to rest for a bit after this whole thing is over. You deserve it after all."
"Hm?" Yami looked at you, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, come on." You shrugged, "You're going through a lot. You should rest, I'm thinking after this Tea situation dissipates."
"What about the duel?" Yami asked,
"What, you mean Joey and Kaiba? Meh, just a lovers quarrel." You rolled your eye with a smirk, "I'll let you know who wins when the final duel is on."
"Alright, if you say so." Yami shrugged and leaned back, "I'll consider it once I figure out what's happening with Tea-"
The elevator stopped in its tracks as you and Yami finally made it to the highest floor. Right as the door opened, you and Yami bolted out towards the stairs. Within a minute, both you and Yami were able to determine what's happening up at the roof. To say the least, it's not one you'd want.
Tea was on the floor, and standing before her were Ishizu and Marik - who was aiming his Millenium Rod at Ishizu.
"Hold on." Yami sternly spoke as his puzzle began to glow.
"Now look at this!" Marik laughed, "It seems I am quite popular today!"
"This has gone far enough, Marik." Yami hissed,
"Ah, welcome, Pharaoh." Marik smirked, "Our battle will begin sooner than I thought!" He said as he raised his Rod at Yami, the eye at the tip starting to glow. The sky around this floor began to turn purple, as though Marik was taking everyone here to the Shadow Realm. This soon changed when Marik gave a laugh and shook his head- the sky turning blue once more.
"On second thought, I don't want to end this just yet." Marik approached Yami, "That would be too easy, Pharaoh. And I have something more fun in mind, so until then, good day! The next time we meet, your power will be mine!" Marik laughed as he walked past Yami and stared at you,
"You know, you're really lucky you have the privilege against me, enough to take Joey away from my part-time entertainment." Marik's eyes narrowed, "Just as I was having my fun, you take it away just like that. Sounds about right, given who I am talking to." He sneered as he purposely bumped your shoulder and walked down the stairs. You sneered at him as he left the scene and soon turned to Tea, who was unconscious on Ishizu's lap. You looked at Yami, who stared at you while being extremely conflicted. Already getting a hint about a possible interrogation, you shifted your head in Tea's direction in hopes to divert his attention to her for the time being; which was successful because Yami's eyes averted to Tea.
"Is she alright?" Yami asked,
"Tea's been through quite a bit, but she'll be fine soon." Ishizu replied.
You stood there awkwardly as the full attention was focused on Tea. What are you gonna do when Tea wakes up, deal with her bullshit again when she sees you? Ugh, you need to prepare for that, especially now that Yami asked you out-
Oh shit. Your eyes widened, how is Tea gonna react when she finds out Yami asked you out? It completely slipped your mind when talking about it with Yami. As you were already thinking of several reactions, you suddenly felt nauseous and dizzy- hearing a familiar growl in the distance.
Oh shit, here we go again. You felt your eyes roll back as you stumbled to the wall behind you. Quietly panting, you look to see Yami and Ishizu's attention still on Tea. Finding this as an opportunity to leave, you quietly descended down the stairs and unintentionally followed the source of the growl. To be honest, this time the source felt a lot closer to you than the previous times it was around. It was as though you were so close, yet so far at the same time. As you walked down the stairs, you began to hear muffled whispers, and even though you couldn't determine the exact words, you knew they were calling for you. You began to feel your back burn, but not in the same way it has been in the last few days or so. It felt like something was meddling in, it almost reminded you of the stone you absorbed back in Noah's world. Once you made it down the stairs, you leaned against the wall and let it guide you to wherever you were supposed to go. Yeah, you were still in the tower, but it didn't feel like it. The strange heat moved to your heart, as it began to pound with energy - forcing you to change your speed towards whatever is making you like this. You kept going and you began to realize a lime green path, almost around three centimeters wide was on the floor. You stopped moving and stared at this path for a bit until the growling came back. You continued your way while following this path until you reached your room. Opening it immediately, you walked in and finally made eye contact with the source.
Standing before you once more, with its yellow eyes and purple skin with scales.
It was the Great Leviathan. Right below it embarked the very same green color making a symbol.
The very same one you're way too familiar with.
Letting yourself in with the door closing behind you, you stared at this beast as you felt your eyepatch fall off. You felt something go down your cheek, but you didn't seem to care about what as you slowly approached it. Its growls sent shivers down your body that felt nostalgic. You were a lot closer to it than normal, this coming from a real-world experience. Yet something didn't feel right. The aura the Great Leviathan emitted felt different from the previous times you've encountered it, especially in Noah's world.
Something was wrong. You felt it through the Great Leviathan. It stands before you as though it had come with a warning. Without thinking, you reached your hand towards it in hopes to make contact as you did in Noah's world. The Great Leviathan slowly leaned forward to your touch, and without a moment's hesitation, you heard a booming voice shiver through your whole body;
"There is no time. You must take action."
Stiffening up, you watched the Leviathan leave within a blink. You felt lightheaded as you fell to your knees and stared at the floor. Unsure of what just happened, you staggered to your feet and leaned against your desk. You found yourself incapable of staring at your reflection, you stared at the floor with your body trembling.
You weren't sure what's going on at this point, but you really needed to leave. You needed to get out of here and find out whatever the hell is happening with the Great Leviathan. Without hesitation, you rose from your seat and grabbed your eyepatch from the floor. Wiping your eye from whatever the liquid was (as you didn't dare look), you put the eyepatch on and ran out of your room. Feeling your head begin to pound, you quickly bolted down the halls and towards the exit when you halted directly in place the moment your eyes latched onto two people. One of which narrowed her eyes the moment she made eye contact with you, as for the other...
"(y/n)!" Yami's eyes lit up as he walked over to you, "There you are! We've been looking all over for you!"
"Oh...oh you have?" You asked with a loss of breath as you felt this rush of emotions soon dissipate. Yami nods as he narrows his eyes,
"(y/n), you're paler than the last time I saw you, are you alright?"
"Oh...yeah..." You nodded as you straightened yourself, "...yeah...yeah I am."
"Are you sure?" Yami asked,
"I'm sure she is." Tea approached you and Yami, "Right, (y/n)?"
"Yeah.." You nodded, "I am, let's...uh...let's go."
Yami's eyes locked onto yours with extreme doubt as he nodded his head. Without hesitation, Yami's arm wrapped around yours in hopes to keep you steady - which you were grateful for because now you're capable of walking in a straight line. You caught Tea staring at you, but that stare was soon lost as the three of you reached where Joey, Duke, and Tristan were.
"How was the duel?" Tea asked as Joey frowned,
"Don't ask. What's the big idea with ya guys leavin' me when I needed ya' the most?" Joey asked,
That tells you he lost.
"It's really not what it seems, Joey." Yami answered,
"You missed Kaiba kicking Joey's ass." Tristan smirked,
"Aw Joey, you lost?" Tea looked sad,
"Yep!" Tristan smirked as he patted Joey's back,
"C'mon, you know Joey did a good job, it's just Kaiba did better," Duke smirked as Joey started steaming,
"WHY YOU-"
"You'll...get him next time." Tea encouraged, "For now, we got bigger things to worry about."
"Like what?" Tristan asked,
"Yugi's duel with Marik." Joey narrowed his eyes, "You ready, pal?"
"Always." Yami nodded and looked at you, "And you? Are you alright?"
You frowned and nodded, "...a little worried, but fine."
"I'll be fine." Yami assured as he looked at everyone else, "Come on, let's go."
With that, everyone followed and went up the stairs towards where Marik stood, waiting with a grin.
"Be careful with this guy, he plays in his own rules." Joey warned as Yami looked at him,
"...Joey," Yami leaned close to Joey and whispered him something. Joey stared at him and nodded before Yami went up the stage.
"Yami-" You called out as Yami looked at you,
"Yes?"
"....B....Be careful." You bit your lip as Yami gave you a smile,
"I will."
And thus the duel began. Not before Kaiba ran in and gave Yami a card to use, a "trump card" Kaiba believes will help Yami beat the duel.
For the first time in a while, your whole attention was focused on Yami's duel for at least most of it. You watched as Marik made it a Shadow game, something you were way too familiar with. Not only that, but you watched Marik make it a game that risked both his and Yami's other selves; the other Marik and Yugi. You felt hands go on your shoulders but you didn't seem to care much- you already knew who it was, his soul was strangely familiar to you since you pulled him out of the Shadow Realm. You watched Marik's stability go off the hill but you slowly felt your vision go off as well. It was slow, but the sounds around you turned muffled as you began to realize you were being watched. It wasn't long before you made eye contact with someone whom you haven't seen in a while...well at least in person you believe.
You stared at Dartz, who smirked at you. He tilted his head as he took a heavy breath before he opened his mouth.
"you have what's mine. That'll be fixed."
"...not if I can help it." You seethed in return, your fists clenched. An eyebrow cocked from Dartz's head, and soon enough, he disappeared along with the purple aura given by the Shadow Game. The moment he disappeared, you realized the sky had turned blue once more. Taking a step back, you stared at the duel grounds to find Yami still intact and standing.
"And the winner and champion of the Battle City Tournament is Yugi Motou!" It was announced. You stared at Yami in pure shock as everyone around you cheered. You stood there in pure shock as Yami's eyes soon locked with yours. He smiled and gave you a thumbs up. At that point, you wanted to run and give him a hug but having everyone run over to him the moment Yami hit the floor made you stop in your tracks. You looked at Marik, who seemed less insane and psychotic the last as he had been this whole time, and realized how normal he looks. It's like he just swept everything away and is a new man or something.
Then it hit you; if Marik is really back to normal, does that mean Mai is alright?
Mentally apologizing to Yami for ditching him once again, you bolted down the stairs and to the infirmary. You opened the door and stared at the scene before you to find Serenity and Mai staring at you.
You immediately teared up to finally see Mai look alive, her skin was back to normal and she was sitting up, staring at you.
"...well hey there sugar~" Mai winked, "How's it going-"
You teared up and ran to her arms; arms which accepted you immediately. You never thought you'd see the day where you'd be able to hug Mai like this. You thought you almost lost her. Mai stroked your hair and hummed as she smirked at you,
"Did you really miss me that much?" Mai asked,
"She did." Serenity nodded, "I am a witness."
"Oh?" Mai smirked as her ego boosted, "There there, (y/n). It's all good now, I'm awake."
That's all you needed to hear. After around a couple more minutes, you pulled away and wipe your tears as Mai smirked,
"I have an idea." Mai said,
"What idea?" Serenity asked,
"I want to scare Joey." Mai grinned,
"How?" You asked as you blew your nose with a tissue,
"Pretend I never woke up." Mai's grin only grew. Serenity gasped,
"That's evil!"
"It's what he gets for playing with my feelings." Mai rolled her eyes, "You two look like good actress's, you can play along to make it more convincing~."
"Oh great gods." You rolled your eye and soon found yourself laughing, "I'm in. How about you, Serenity?"
"Hm..." Serenity hummed before smirking, "Actually I'd love to do that since Joey gave me the scare of my life."
"Great!" Mai swept back under the covers and back to her position, "Ready~?"
"Yeah." You straightened yourself up and went on your knees next to Serenity, "Ready when you guys are."
"All set." Serenity nodded as Mai closed her eyes and feigned unconsciousness. Giggling, you clenched the sheets and covered your face with the blanket as though you were struck with grief. Serenity giggled, then switched to a solemn mood as within moments after, the door went wide open.
"How is Mai!" Joey chirped,
"She's not up." Serenity answered with a straight face.
"No way...what gives?" Joey gasped,
"I don't know." Serenity answered,
"Hey...Mai...wake up. Hey, you should be awake! Yugi beat Marik so you should be free from the Shadow Realm!" You heard Joey's voice tremble and held everything back to laugh. Instead, your body began to shake, which is good for the act because now everyone thinks you're holding back the urge to break down. You felt hands gently rub your back for comfort.
"It's...It's not fair!" Joey's voice shook, "Mai...please wake up!"
As awful as this will sound, you really wanted to laugh because Mai was literally awake. For some reason, Joey saying that broke you as you started to giggle. It wasn't long before Mai followed as her giggle turned to a laugh as she threw Joey under her arm.
"That was priceless!" Mai laughed, "I was faking it and I got Serenity and (y/n) to play with me~!"
You lifted your head from the bed while suppressing the urge to laugh at Joey's stricken face. Looking behind at the source of the comforting hand, Yami raised an eyebrow at you and soon shook his head with a smile.
"Oh come oooonnn, it was a prank!" Mai laughed as Yami smiled at her,
"I know, let's go." Yami rose you to your feet and everyone got up and walked out of the infirmary. For the first time in a while, you locked arms with Mai as everyone made their way to the kitchen - realizing Bakura was hogging it all.
You stared at Bakura realizing how much you actually forgot about the battle city tournament before literally minutes later, you overhear from security that the whole tower is going to explode.
"...Honestly, I have come to the firm theory that nothing can end without some form of explosion when it comes to Kaiba." You frowned as everyone made their way outside to find no sort of transportation. Duke and Bakura ran back inside to see if the engines could work.
"...Should we panic or..." you mumbled as Joey grabbed one of the security's collar,
"You're literally the man next to Kaiba, where's that damn rich boy?!" Joey hissed,
"T-There's no way I can reach Mr. Kaiba...he's nowhere to be found!"
"Not if I can help it!" Joey hissed, as Duke and Bakura ran out,
"We need more time!" Tristan called out as you noticed a chopper.
"...uh..."
"Damn...how can we get that! We're literally gonna explode!" Tristan gritted his teeth,
"...Guys?" You spoke and everyone looked at you, "...uh...there's a chopper right there."
"What?" Joey blinked in astonishment and soon saw it, "Well I'll be damned!"
"...where did it even come from?" Mai mumbled,
"Oh wait!" Tristan grinned, "It's the helicopter Mokuba called for when Joey was in a bad shape!"
"Oh wow." You cocked an eyebrow as Serenity ran back to the blimp and call anyone who was still in there. You and Yami were the first to walk in,
"...I think your theory is right, (y/n)." Yami whispered,
"Exactly." You sighed as you sat down. Yami sat next to you and watched everyone else get in.
"Just think, if you weren't in a bad shape earlier we wouldn't have been able to get this helicopter!" Tea excitedly said. Raising an eyebrow at Tea's immoral statement, the helicopter soon took off...without Kaiba. A minute later, the whole tower began to explode.
"Is he....really gone?" Joey mumbled.
Smirking at Joey, you shook your head,
"Your boyfr- Kaiba wouldn't go out like that." You feigned a cough that only caught Yami's attention, as he suppressed a laugh and elbowed you.
"I bet he has some jet around that he used-"
"HOLY SHIT!" Joey screeched as a blue-eyes white dragon jet appeared next to them...with the piolets being Kaiba and Mokuba.
"...I told you." You muttered, as you watched Kaiba smirk at Joey. You rolled your eye between the tension of Joey and Kaiba and you covered your face with your hands in order to properly process everything before the helicopter lands. You felt like you were being watched, and looked to see Kaiba staring at you.
"I'll take you with me soon."
Once the helicopter landed, everyone got out and Mai stretched as she grabbed your arm and pulled you out.
"Even though I won't be able to sleep in your room in that blimp, I feel you deserve a night out. Come on~"
"You're leaving?" Joey asked as Yami finished things up with Marik.
"Well duh, (y/n) and I still need to have our night out." Mai rolled her eyes, "The open road calls, I came for the tournament and it's gone."
"Oh Mai...don't go..." Serenity looked sad, "...you...you were like a sister to me."
"I know, I know. I want to thank you." Mai pinched Serenity's cheek, "I know you looked after me when I was in the Shadow Realm. Thank you for that."
Yami silently made his way over to you and wrapped his arm around you. Mai looked at Yami with a smirk,
"Just so you know, the next time I duel it'll be with you."
"You're on." Yami smirked as Mai turned to Joey.
"Uh...Mai..." Joey gulped,
"Yeah?"
"...uh....uh......nevermind. Have a safe trip." Joey mumbled as Mai quirked an eyebrow.
"Well, bye. Come on, (y/n)~" Mai locked arms with you and she started walking. Yami stared at Joey with a disappointed look as he let himself be carried away by you, who was being dragged by Mai.
"Looky you, Mr. Escort~" Mai cooed at Yami with a smirk,
"I can't help it." Yami shrugged, "What else can I do? Joey is being a little weird so I am taking his place."
"Isn't he always?" You asked as Yami opened the car door for you. You sat in Mai's purple car and Yami closed it,
"Yeah, he is." Yami nodded,
"MAI, WAIT!" Speak of the devil, Joey ran in just as Mai sat in the drivers seat. "Mai...I...uh..."
"Joey, you don't have to say anything." Mai raised an eyebrow with a small smile, "What you did back there said it all. You know, my favorite part of this whole thing was that I got to know you." Mai said with a smile. Joey sighed and smiled at her,
"Thank you, Mai." Joey said,
"No problem, but just so you know, I'm still gonna kick your butt later." Mai winked as she turned on the car.
"....Wait." Yami walked over to you. You and Mai looked at Yami as he leaned on the car and looked at you.
"Yeah?" You blinked,
"Tomorrow. Meet me infront of Yugi's game store; Kame Game at one in the afternoon. You remember where that is, right?" Yami said. For a second, you completely forgot what he was talking about until it hit you.
The date.
You nodded your head, "Yeah."
"Then it's a date. See you tomorrow, (y/n)." Yami ruffled your hair with a genuine smile and took a few steps back next to Joey. You bit your lip and nodded,
"Yeah...it's a date."
Mai's mouth was wide open in pure shock, which soon turned to a smirk as she pulled up and away from the two boys. As the car went, Joey stared at Yami in shock,
"...never knew you had the guys, Pharaoh." Joey blinked,
"...T..To be honest," Yami gulped, ".....I felt it was time...and-"
"Yugi forced you, didn't he," Joey smirked,
"....That too.." Yami nodded.
Meanwhile, with you and Mai, Mai was freaking out.
"Oh GIRL! We have to plan things for your date! We need to find the perfect outfit and make-up!" Mai was excited as she maneuvered her way out of the warehouse to head to the streets. Nervously chuckling, you looked over at the side and took a deep breath. For the first time in a while, you actually felt at peace....unfortunately for you, you're the vessel of the Orichalcos. Why? Because right at that moment, Mai drove by a man in a white cloak, and unfortunately for you, you recognized who that man is.
It was as though the interaction was in slow motion, but you made full eye contact with Dartz in the flesh. You had the worst feeling it was him in person because of his aura being incredibly similar to when you saw him in Noah's world, his smirk was all too familiar to you. However, this time you noticed that, unlike his white and pale-blue clothing, he wore a necklace that caught your attention the most. This necklace had a lime-green gem that had the symbol of the Seal on it. Your eye widened at this new accessory as Dartz flew away from your vision as Mai found the streets.
"I'm so excited, you have no idea! We have no time to waste, we're going to my place and having a sleepover!" Mai cheered as she laughed with no worries.
You nervously smiled and stared at the rear-view mirror. You knew for a fact that your prophecy was right up the door. It was only a matter of time before it all begins.
Again, just a matter of when. Which was no problem to Dartz at all, for Dartz smirked as he looked up at the sky.
"Yes....yes we are ready." He caressed his necklace, feeling at ease for once in a while,
"Yes...it's time to begin."
