(The meanings for Kate's knives will be given at the end before my author's note.) Enjoy....

I am actually going out to dinner with my super fancy and posh brother. How the hell did I not foresee this, nothing I have in my closet is appropriate for this. The dresses I have are not one I would want my big brother to see me in, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want that either. The ones he would actually be able to see without gauging his own eyes are not one I would want to wear to a fancy restaurant.

Having no other option I picked up a random outfit, pairing it with a bunch of chains and other accessories and heeled boots, I applied some light makeup with a coat of maroon lipstick. Taking one last look in the mirror I walked downstairs.

Alex had already left for his date, which I intend to talk about in detail with him later. The others were in the living room, the twins and Dante talking to each other in whispers most probably trying to plan a "small" party in the while we are going to be gone.

As I walk in Xavier looks up and scans my outfit, an uneasy expression on his face. "You're wearing that?" I can see the horror on his face at seeing the shorts and how he adjusted the gun he was carrying, making sure he had it with him. Which I'm pretty sure is for any guy who looks at me wrong.

"Well it's either this or the skin tight latex red dress." I simply answered this and it prompted him to jump up quickly, grabbing his keys and walking towards the door. Waving a quick goodbye to the guys, both of us headed out.

We had been in the car for 15 minutes, and after suffering through the awkward silence I couldn't take it anymore. "So where are we going?" "Oh, there is this perfect little Italian place I know, one of my old friends is the owner and they have the best mushroom risotto."

So we really are going to some fancy shmancy restaurant, "Ok, cool." I think my face showed exactly how boring this sounded to me as he immediately added "Or we could go someplace else. You know... any other place you might have in mind. I am flexible."

I laughed out, I seriously had no idea as to why he was acting so flustered right now, but it sure was amusing. "Okay first, relax. Second, we can go to the risotto place, it just isn't my scene exactly. But I know this is the kind of place you might usually go to so I'm willing to give it a try."

He didn't say anything else but after another 15 minutes we stopped, getting out of the car, I expected to see a fancy restaurant nearby but as it turns out we seemed to be on a street corner nowhere near a place like Xavier described.

Turning to him with a confused look, he just smiled at me, coming to my side. "The whole reason we are out right now, is for me to get to know you better and that means we are going to some place you like. So, take your pick."

With a smile on my face we started walking, looking at the restaurants we passed, until I stopped suddenly my eyes landing a big neon sign a few steps ahead of us, with music blaring around it, loud enough to burst our eardrums.

I turn to Xavier with a hopeful look, pointing to the dance club in front of us. "The lion's den?" "Let's go!!" I say excitedly, pulling him along by his arm. By now I'm pretty sure everyone who knew me, knew that I loved places like this, they were just so intoxicatingly fun.

"Weren't you hungry?" I rolled my eyes, god this guy really needs to start having some fun. "Oh, who cares? You need to start having more fun which means. We are going to the club, we are going to dance and drink and have fun."

Xavier immediately stopped "Haha, nice try. But no drinking, for you." I just shrug in return. "Eh, worth a try." Finally as we both reached the entrance, which led downstairs, the music increased in sound, making my whole body vibrate with excitement.

The guy at the counter who was supposed to give us a ticket or bracelet, looked at us the neutral expression on his face telling me clearly how much he hated this job.

Taking notice of us he took out a tray and spoke in a monotonous voice, "Put any and every weapon on your person into this tray. That includes guns, knives, and other devices that can cause someone bodily harm, you are only allowed to keep a taser or pepper spray on you because men are trash." the last part being directed towards me.

"Okay, what the fuck kind of people come to this place?" Xavier asked no one in particular while looking around the place. "Who cares? Just put your gun in, and let's party."

"How do you know I have a gun?"

"You don't hide it very well." I answered simply. Giving up Xavier deposited his gun in the tray along with a switchblade he had stashed in his socks. Then it was my turn. Since this was one of the few times I was going out with someone else I had come properly prepared.

I started with my two karambits that were tucked into my shorts, Ares and Eirene. Next were the blades tucked inside my belt Thanatos and Themis. With handles that had engravings on them, quotes written in greek, about death and justice. Tartarus and Nyx were removed from the back of my shirt, these were two of my relatively bigger daggers so hiding them on my back was a good spot, Nyx and Tartarus were twin blades, totally black. Kratos was removed from my right boot and Hera from my left, both of them with a bone handle. And lastly the tiny knife tucked away at the nape of my neck, hidden inside my hair, Nike.

Nine knives in total were submitted to the guard, I still decided to keep the other three with myself, and seeing the shell shocked expression on Xavier's face I decided not to tell him about it.

~~~
"Woo!" Xavier and I stumbled out of the club, laughing our asses off. We had spent the last couple of hours dancing, screaming and jumping around like madmen. It had taken me a while to get him to loosen up a bit but once i did, it turns out this guy can actually be pretty fun.
"Did you see that inside. Oh man, I mean I never knew I could do that move. Oh god." Xavier exclaimed, still laughing. When we finally calmed down a little, we decided on going to a mcdonalds drive thru.
And while on the walk back to the car, I jumped on Xavier's back making him carry me all the way. We were sat at the hood of our car, devouring our meal when Xavier striked up a conversation.
"I... I have been meaning to ask you something. And you totally don't have to answer if you don't want to." He said. I nodded my head, indicating for him to speak. "I was thinking and um...why didn't you ever leave. You know....mom."
Wow! I was not expecting him to ask such a heavy question, but then again it wasn't something super deep. "Uhh, well. I tried when I was 8, mom caught me and Jason did some....things to teach me a lesson." I stopped for a second when I saw Xavier wince out of the corner of my eye. "Then I tried again at 11 and I was hiding at a gas station for almost four days before they found me."
"The last time I tried was when I was 14. And god was I so close. Everything was going to be in my favour. But then they found me again." I put my burger aside, pulling my shirt up from one side, showing him the scar on my upper abdomen. "This happened that day, after that I just gave up."
"It wasn't ideal but after enough scars and nightmares I just accepted the fact that there is no way out. I mean I was totally sold on the idea that I am going to die at the hands of a druggie and the bitch who is supposed to be my mother."
I was honestly waiting for tears, my heart to hurt but it didn't. It wasn't like enough time had passed. I just didn't get affected by those memories the way I did before. It still felt bad, thinking about those years but I guess being with these guys really did help.
After that we just talked about simple stuff. Nothing to deep, it was all light conversation getting to know each other better. And strangely I was happy that I got to know Xavier better.
Currently in school, I was heading towards the chemistry lab because I forgot my textbook in the room. The lights were off so no one inside, walking inside I switched the lights on. I froze in place. Apparently there was someone inside, and not just one but two someone's.
One of the guys was practically climbing over the other one. While the one on the bottom was pinned to the desk. I fumbled over my words, apologising repeatedly. Stumbling over to the door, with my cheeks burning as to what I had witnessed the two doing.
"Kate?" One of them called behind. I know that voice. I turn around to see him, eyes wide, face as red as mine, his hair was ruffled, and clothes in a disarray. Luca. The guy pinned to the desk was Luca, boy was that a surprise.
"I um, I'm gonna go now." I tried to hurry out the door. But as soon as I stepped out Luca caught my wrist, forcing me to stop.
"Hey." It looked like he wanted to say more but just couldn't come up with what it should be. "I won't say anything if you don't want me to." I say quickly trying to reassure him a little bit and I think I was successful seeing his shoulders relax a little.
"Look I-." He was cut off by the period bell. I looked at him. "Hey we'll talk later. I gotta go to class." He just nodded. That was definitely something I'd be thinking about.
If I'm being honest I did not see that coming. I mean the way he used to be with Jennifer in the beginning just made it seem like he had something going on with her. Well he could be bi, there was a lot of things going through my mind. I'm going to need to talk to Luca properly to get some answers.
Entering the math class, I walked towards my seat, sat right next to me was Ace, an almost there smile on his face. We hadn't yet talked about the whole painting situation, I honesty had no idea how to bring it up.
And I quite liked the way things were right now. Not too overly friendly, a casual greeting here and there and silently showing each other answers when the other was stuck. Talking about the painting would definitely ruin that.
Giving a small smile of my own I took my seat and willed my mind to not die while I listened to my teacher drone on and on about quadratic equations or some shit.
The rest of the day was boring as hell but my mind was still buzzing with questions I wanted to ask Luca. Finally free from school me, Luca, Marco and Dante began our journey home, I kept quite while the other two were around.
Getting home, I didn't get out of the car, while Dante and Marco did. Turning to me curiously the other two asked "You aren't coming?" "Um, Luca is actually taking me to buy some supplies for a school project, for my chemistry class."
Not thinking anything of it they went inside and Luca restarted the car. "So you gonna start talking or are we just going to drive around aimlessly." He sighed deeply before speaking. "I'm gay. No one knows yet." I nodded my head.
"Ok, so who was the guy you were with?"
"Wait hold up. What? Don't you have anything to ask me about the... you know gay thing?" He asked.
"I'm not dumb you know, you like guys, there isn't anything very complicated here. Now, who was the guy?" I ask again, god this was exciting.
"Kevin."
I gasped, "I love it, now you guys got any proffered pronouns?" He stilled for a second stumbling over his words. A part of me though that maybe I was the first person to actually ask him that.
"I'm good with he/him, and Kevin goes by they/them." Okay I'll have to remember Kevin's. "Well that's great. And just putting it out there. They do look pretty cute. So good choice."
"But what about Jennifer? What is going on with her?" He sighed frustrated. "We were together in the start of sophomore year. And I was honestly just experimenting, wanting to know for sure. But god that bitch is clingy."
I couldn't help but laugh at his obvious misery, my gaze flitted past the rear view mirror catching the sight of a sleek black car I could swear I saw behind us two blocks ago. Luca started talking about Kevin and I could only half listen to him, my focus on the car that by now I was pretty sure was following us.
"Luca." I stop him in the middle of his confession about how soft Kevin's hair was. "What?" He asked confused at my suddenly alert demeanour and chipped tone.
I wasted no time in getting my gun out. Checking the ammo, I turn to Luca. "We're being followed." He immediately turned back looking at the black cars that had increased their speed forgetting about keeping low,probably knowing that their cover was blown.
And that was when all hell broke loose. Fuck!
—————————————————————
Heya!! A lot happened here!
I personally loved the knife scene. It was inspired by Inej Ghafa from Six of crows. The same way she has named her knives after the saints she prays to, Kate is also deeply attached to her knives and names them after the gods she prays to and respects. Did you like it??
Omg! Kate knows about Luca. Now I didn't want to portray him the way LGBTQ+ people are usually portrayed in media, he happens to be pretty reserved and since he isn't officially out to his family and friends yet he remains pretty quite about his sexuality.
A cute little Ace and Kate moment. Just a heads up, they are going to have some major moments in the future.😘😘
And what the hell happened in the end?!? Well I know but I ain't gonna tell ya! 😜😜😜
But don't worry you're gonna know soon!! Anyway do tell me what you thought of this chapter
Love you all!💕💕✨✨
