"HAHAHAHA"

I laughed while burying my face on the bed beside Edward and banging on the mattress with my hand.

I tried to control my laughter but I couldn't since I kept bursting out every time I looked at his face.

After rolling out of the chair, I was sitting on the floor while holding onto my stomach. It started to hurt from all the laughing.

"Pfft....HAHA" I wiped the tears coming from my eyes. At this rate, my makeup will come undone.

"My skills may not be as good as your maids but...pfft...HAHA"

"I think this is my masterpiece"

I haven't had such a good laugh in years.

I had initially planned on doodling his face beyond recognition. But then I had an enlightenment and decided to leave a message instead.

Drawn perfectly on Edward's chiseled face was the iconic makeup of the legendary character 'Joker' from the 'Dark knight' series.

Joker was my favorite comic book character back when I was Kim Eunseo. He still is, and I was so crazy fangirling back then that I had joker posters and merchandise all over my room.

My mother was so spooked whenever she came to my room to wake me up that she started burning spirit incenses everywhere inside the house.

I used multiple layers of powder to paint his face white and liquid from the eyeliner to color out his eye sockets into black.

I drew the beautiful smile that I've always admired using red lipstick and used red eyeshadow to highlight the effects.

The tricky part was the hair since I had to color it in green. I smashed the green eye makeup and mixed it with water to use as hair dye.

I used his shirt to wipe my hands clean and with that, we were done.

Surprisingly it turned out better than I expected.

"You may not be up to 'the Clown Prince of Crime' that I love. But I think you would cut out as a cosplayer"

Though I didn't want to admit it, the joker makeup suited him so well that I couldn't take my eyes off his face for a while.

"I swear I made justice to the original......HAHA"

It was simply hilarious.

"I know I shouldn't be doing this now but...pfttt"

"Damnnn! I regret not taking pictures" I exclaimed.

"If only I had my smartphone on me"

I wiped the tears in my eyes without ruining my makeup.

"It's fine...." I said waving my hands

"We can just do this and I'll save it in my memory" I kneeled down beside him so that we could take a selfie

"Say 'why so serious?'.....pfft HAHA...I'm sorry it's just too much"

"And click" I imitated a camera click with my hands.

"Ok enough jokes..." I slapped myself on the cheeks and got on my feet.

I laughed too much today and now I'm concerned about what the universe has in store for me. Probably something not good.

I was obviously running late but I couldn't say how much, thanks to this slaughterhouse having zero pieces of equipment that could measure time.

"Anyway....don't forget your ex-wife who read books and sang lullabies to your sorry face"

Then I remembered the situation I was in.

"No....that's bad. Be sure to forget me and have a blissful life with Helen" I said with a smile on my face.

I pulled the quilt and covered Edward completely.

I don't want to be busted before I get my ass out of this place.

If I were to get caught, I'm sure they would throw me in prison without a second thought.

Though, I wonder what everybody's reactions are going to be when they see Edward's face.....pfft.

So goes the Archduke of the Empire... HAHAHA.

Right then, there was a knock on the outer door.

I'm safe for now. They won't come inside Edward's room since I instructed Nathanial to keep everybody outside. I just told him that I wanted to spend some time with my husband before I leave for the temple and he happily obliged.

Then I got serious as I was about to leave for real.

"You can't change destiny Mr. Male lead, you can only fight against it"

"So I'm gonna fight mine"

I turned around and walked towards the door.

But before heading out I paused and turned back for the last time to make one final confession.

"It's such a pity" I clicked my tongue.

"Truth be told, you.......you were the one I liked the most out of all the male leads. Even more than the sunny guy who sacrificed himself for Helen"

"He was such a dum-dum. Just why would you jump in from an ARROW when you have a frickin' sword in your hands" I said with scorn on my face.

"He could've just cut it. And I think he was the Captain of the Royal Guards on top of that....sheesh"

"You were better compared to that"

"Don't judge me.....just who won't be attracted to a little big yandere-ish bad boy"

"But......it's all fun and games only till sh*t gets real"

There was another knock at the door.

"Alright it's time for me to go and die"

"It was really nice talking to you.....so byeeeee" I closed the door and left the room with those words.

Angelica opened the door to the front only to find Nathaniel standing with a dozen knights behind him.

"Madam. Your carriage has been prepared" He told her with a polite bow.

He looked at Anglica with a satisfied expression and introduced the tall knight behind him to her.

"This is Sir Tate. He will be the head of the knights who will be escorting the madam throughout the stay at the temple since Sir Luther is away on another task"

"We will be at your care" said Sir Tate making as he bowed in front of her.

"Sure...." Angelica seemed confused. She was still not used to having people surround her all the time.

"Please take care of me too"

"It's our honor madam"

"It's time" Nathaniel interjected.

They were already thirty minutes behind schedule and the priests were strict about time management.

"Please lead the way" Angelica told him with the posture of a noble lady.

"Your safety is our priority madam" said Sir Tate as he closed the door to the carriage.

'Yeah....Don't be so sure about it' Angelica thought with a helpless expression on her face.

Angelica's carriage was surrounded by a dozen knights as it passed through the mansion gates with a few more knights clad in armor following behind them.

Earlier Nathaniel had explained that the number of knights was increased due to the assassination attempt the previous night.

'No offense but it's not gonna make a difference' Angelica shook her head.

'Goodbye' She mouthed as her carriage went through the gates.

Sir Tate looked at the young noble lady who had a pitiful appearance. She looked fragile like a glass doll that would break with the slightest touch. Yet, he has never seen someone as captivating as her.

He had heard things about her from the servants of the mansion especially from His grace's attendant Herbie.

Tate had even seen her from a distance a few times. She was polite and friendly with the servants and knights, way different from the nobles he had met so far.

Most importantly, although it was a political marriage, she greatly cared for the welfare of the young master who was bedridden after being cursed.

Herbie was practically singing her praise about how she helped him to clean and attend to the young master.

She was at his grace's care for each and every need.

She frequented the residence library to study more about the curse and even conversed with the lofty priests to look for ways to undo the curse, which even left the stone butler surprised.

'We must protect her at all costs'

Sir Tate nodded with a determined heart while looking at the young lady's sad face.
