Kingsley Creed Next day
Kingsley brushed through her hair while the music softly played from her brand new phone, Royce gifted her. Seeing her mom for the first time in months was running in her head all night. Once she finished getting dressed she left the hotel and met Tim outside in the car garage.
She looked down at her phone that buzz in her hands.
Royce❤️ Good morning love, have a good day. I miss you already.
She couldn't help but smile. She send him a quick message back before putting away her phone. "You from Dallas?" She asked Tim.
"No, I'm from New Jersey." He said. "I've been living here in Dallas for about 3 years."
"Do you like it?" She asked.
"Yea the area is nice. It gets really hot here in the south, I tell you that." He said.
"Yea it's does." She said. "How did you start working for Royce?"
"I met him in New York actually. I was working in retail and he came in the store and spent so much money. I asked him what he does for work, he lied to me and said construction to began with." He said chuckling. "He could tell that I knew he was lying so he told me he own businesses. I told him I need to get like him and he gave me his number and told me to hit him up if I wanted to upgrade my life and money."
"So driving for him is your way of living?" She asked.
He nodded his head. "Believe it or not Royce is one of the most charismatic people I ever met. He always puts me on game or whoever works for him. He looks out for us, he pays us really well, and he also treat us like family. If it wasn't for Royce I'll still be working retail living with my grandmother."
Kingsley nodded her head absorbing the information he was telling her. After a while of driving, Kingsley realized she was close to arriving home.
She fiddled with her fingers looking out the window. "You alright?" Tim asked.
"Yea, I'm ok. Just haven't been home in a while." She said. "Haven't seen my Mom in a while either."
"I know that feeling." He said. "You'll be ok. You just in your head overthinking things."
She let out a deep sighing before rubbing her sweaty palm in her jeans. "You had issues with your Mom?" She asked.
"Yea." He said in a low tone. "Wish I could go back and just apologize and start over. She died two years ago from liver disease."
"I'm sorry to hear that." She said.
"It's alright." He said. "I turn up here don't I?" He asked pointing to a neighbor hood sign that read, 'Timber Creek Meadows'.
"Yes." She responded as her heart drop to her stomach as he makes the turn into the neighborhood. As Tim drove around the neighborhood, he finally pulls up to her Mom's house.
Tim puts the car in park and turn back to look at Kingsley who looked like she was nervous. "Nervous?" He chuckled.
"Yea." She said. "My Mom and I didn't have the best relationship. I don't know if she will even be happy to see me."
"I'm pretty sure she will. Give it a chance." He told her. "Take your time though if you'rere not ready right now.
"No, I am." She said before opening the car door and getting out.
She walked up the driveway then onto the porch. She hesitated to ring the doorbell before knocking. She stood there with her heart beating fast. She held her breath hearing footsteps approaching the door.
Once the door swung open her Mom stood there. Her Mom squinted her eyes due to the sun light. She opened the door wider to let Kingsley in. She stepped in the house looking around.
Everything with still the same, nothing had changed. Her Mom closed the door behind her. She stepped back to get a good look at Kingsley before speaking.
"Well aren't you going to tell me where you been?" She folded her arms.
"I moved." She said.
"And you didn't let a single would know?" She said. "You and Asia just decided to up and leave?"
"Something like that..." She said. Her Mom went silent. She stared at Kingsley with her arms folded. "I came back to see you. I figured we could talk about some stuff." Her Mom didn't respond, she continued to stare at Kingsley with her arms folded. "Can we?"
"I don't get you." She said. Kingsley eyebrow knitted together wondering what she meant by that comment. "Where were you all this time? I called you back to back and got no answer from you. I was so close to filling a missing person report."
"Why didn't you?" Kingsley asked her.
"Because i got a text from you saying you were moving to Miami for good and you wasn't coming back. Asia told her momma the same shit. I figured that was yall little plan anyways but hey, you a grown ass woman I can't stop you from doing shit." She said.
"Ma, I just came here to talk-"
"About what? Miami eating your pockets and you need to move back home? Need some where to stay?" She said. "I don't appreciate you going away for that damn long without acknowledging me about nothing. You show up here like ain't shit happened."
"Yea, ain't nothing changed." She huffed feeling so disappointed. "I'm disappointed in myself for even coming here thinking I was going to be able to converse with you. You still bitter and angry with me for no reason."
"I'm bitter and angry? Kingsley you disrespect me every chance you get. Ever since you were a teenager it never stopped. You always disrespect me and I only try to be a mother to you."
"Be a mother to me? You were barely there for me as a teenager. You was barely home, you were in the streets." Kingsley raised her eyebrow feeling her eyes about to sting. "Ma you kicked me out at 16 because you wanted to impress Derek and show him you had some type of power over me. You let this man think he was my Daddy. You would let him beat me, yell at me and all type of shit."
"Yea because your real Daddy walked out."
"Because of you. You wanted to spread yo legs to other men not thinking it would cost both of us. I lost my daddy because you wanted to be a hoe-"
Before Kingsley knew it her Mom's hand came flying across her face. "Now you watch how you talk to me! The disrespect! This is what I'm talking about right now!"
"Ok." She said. "Every time I try with you it never goes anywhere. You never take accountability or try to see where I'm coming from."
"Get out my house. Go on back to wherever you were. Seems like you were just doing fine. I literally can't with you. Just go!"
Kingsley wasted no time to walk out the door. She hurried and got back in the car with Tim. Instead of Tim asking if she was ok, he decided not to say anything and just drive.
She picked up her phone and the first person she decided to call was Royce. He wasted not time to answer the phone.
"Hello?" She said with a shaky voice as if was about to cry.
"What's wrong?" He asked. She paused taking a deep breath trying to gather her words. "It didn't go well?"
"It never does." She said as the tears bang to pour.
"Damn." He said. "I was really hoping it would for you. I'm sorry it didn't work out how you wanted it too."
She bit down out her lip to keep from sobbing. Tim looked in the rear view mirror seeing she had her face covered with her hand.
"Kingsley? Talk to me." Royce spoke. She continued to stay silent and just cry. She began to cry harder she couldn't even speak. "Alright I'm sending you a plane to come back to New York. Just get your stuff and I'll let Tim know to drive you to the airport. Kingsley?" Royce began to feel sadden hearing her cry.
"Ok." She said wiping her face.
