GLASS BREAKING screams awoke me from my light slumber.

Reaching underneath my pillow, I grasped the dagger in my hand and jumped up from the spot in the floor I was sleeping on.

The campfire in the middle of us had died out but the sun began to kiss the land as it rose into the sky. Everyone who was once sleeping around the fire was awake and ready to attack.

Even Mèabh jumped down from her spot in the tree beside us.

Looking for a threat I saw nothing. Nothing but a shirtless buffoon who had fear carved into his face.

August looked at all of us and realized the situation he was in. "There was a spider." He said nervously.

Everyone let out their groans and incoherent mumbles of anger, and returned to their sleeping spots.

Kingsley walked over to August who was pouting. "Where is this "Spider"?" she asked teasingly.

He glared at her through his lashes. Then pointed down, "On my blanket."

Kingsley gripped the blanket in one hand and shook it with all her might. The big black widow was launched into the air and August ran the moment he laid eyes on it again.

Kingsley stood as still as calm water, pulling out her Katana, and slicing the spider in half with one fluid motion. Her Katana clicked back into place right as the spider hit the ground.

She looked over at August, whose jaw had dropped as he peeled out from behind a tree.

"You're okay now, big baby boo."

August's eyebrows furrowed as The syndicate laughed, not understanding her mother tongue. "What did you just call me?"

No one replied to August's question and only snickers were heard.

"I'm serious, you guys!" He exclaimed with confusion, "What did she say?"

I shook my head of tiredness and my small ounce of laughter. After sliding on my boots, I began packing up my sleep spot, folding my blankets and packing them away in my saddle bag.

Running my hand along Price's neck, I reached his face. I scratched underneath his jaw, "Did you sleep well, hmm?"

He snorted and nudged me with his nose.

I chuckled, petting the top of his head, "Yeah, me too."

Hearing footsteps in the grass behind me, I turned around and saw Leland approaching me. His hair was disheveled from the late night, and he tried his best to fix it, running in fingers through its pure whiteness.

Once he stopped in front of me, his emerald green eyes caught my sea blue ones. "Hey."

"Right back at you."

"When do you think we'll reach Laventhorpe?" He asked.

I shrugged, "We should arrive around noon, if we leave now."

"Alright," He nodded. He leaned closer to me, "What did Kingsley call him?"

I snickered, "She called him a big baby."

Deep laughter rumbled out of his chest, "Yeah sounds like him."

I nodded in agreement and continued to pack. "Will you please get everyone ready for departure?"

He nodded and began to walk away, "No problem, boss." Leland began to shout orders to the army that was camping around us in the open field.

The field was clangous as each man disassembled his own tent, packing away their things and helped their fellow neighbors do the same.

Willow's and Blakely-Rose's light footsteps behind me grasped my attention and I turned around.

"We are almost to Laventhorpe correct?" Willow asked.

I nodded, "Yes. From here is a straight shot."

They nodded and Blakely-Rose spoke, "We all haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon. We should eat before we continue our journey."

Willow nodded, "I agree. We can't afford for Kavans men or us to be unfit for anything we might face when we arrive at Laventhorpe."

"I agree as well." Mèabh said, walking up next to us with Kingsley on her side. "I looked at the map again last night and there isn't a Kingdom or town on the way."

"So we have to hunt." I said, confirming her train of thought.

"I saw a herd of deer pass us early this morning. I can track them down and bring us food while you continue to move forward." Mèabh said.

"Okay," I nodded, "Bring anyone you want with you, and we'll meet you along the way."

She nodded and walked away as I continued to get ready to leave. Walking up to August, who was busy packing, Mèabh spoke, "Are you busy?"

He jumped from her sudden voice and turned around, holding his chest, "Oh! Mèabh you scared me!"

She snickered, "You are so easily scared."

He shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck, "Yeah. I'm not usually though."

She tilted her head, "Is something wrong?" He seemed to hesitate but he shook his head no nonetheless. Though she wasn't convinced, she continued, "Well the reason I came over is because I'm going hunting for food and would like you to come with me. I also need about seven more soldiers as well."

Leaving that tense moment aside, August seemed to brighten up, "Oh I'd love to come! I need to practice my archer skills anyway, and I know the perfect group of people to bring for you."

She nodded, "Okay. If you could gather them up, and meet me by the tree over there." She said pointing to the tree she slept and kept watch in.

He nodded, "Alright. I'll be there in a second." August walked off and Mèabh turned around walking back to the tree, waiting patiently for her new group of hunters.

Leaning against the tree trunk, she let her mind wander for a few moments. And it wandered all the way back to a certain Prince. She only hoped he was okay. The look on his face when KIngsley told him he couldn't come, it was burned into her memory.

He was angry, and hurt, but stayed silent. Which is how she knew how upset he truly was.

That night she couldn't sleep, and neither could Evander. And their aimless wandering led them right to each other.

"What are you doing up?" Evander asked Mèabh. He couldn't help but notice how bright her purple eyes glowed in the darkness. Her dark brown hair wasn't tied up but was down and wavy. Though she was small, her attitude made her seem taller.

Mèabh shrugged, "Couldn't sleep, but I usually don't anyway."

Evander tilted his head to the side, "Why don't you sleep?"

"I don't usually sleep, and when I do, it's usually in weird moments," She said, "Oh well. They never said being an insomniac was easy." His mouth opened in an O shape, telling her he understood. "Why are you awake?"

Evander's eyes casted down to the floor, his jaw clenching, and Mèabh immediately knew why he was up. She was always one to comfort, and even though she didn't know him well, she did what she knew how to do best.

Reaching out for Evander's hand, Mèabh grabbed his hand and squeezed it. This questure on comfort startled Evander, and he looked up at Mèabh with surprise.

"I know how badly you wanted to go," Mèabh said, "There are so many people that love you here. You are needed here."

He scoffed, "No I'm not."

She nodded,"Yes you are. If something were to happen to you, like you dying, your blood would be on the syndicate. Think of all the people that would be devastated. Your mother, sister, brothers, and your father." Evander looked up at her with clear eyes and a softened face, one of a weakness she had never seen before.

He always had a hard exterior and was rude, but even under all of that, there is still a human. With fears and feelings. She was glad that she was able to see this side of him, even if he might regret it later.

She continued, "We will bring him back to you. I will bring him back to you. I promise, gargoyle."

He shook his head and laughter sounded out from him. Mèabh was shocked at first, she had never heard him laugh before. But her shock turned to light laughter as well.

"I don't know why you like to call me that," He chuckled.

"Gargoyle is very fitting." She defended, "And it's my special nickname for you. If someone else calls you it, I'll chop their tongue off."

He laughed, "I'll be sure to remember that."

"You better," She teased, waving a finger in his face. Looking down at her, Evander's heart was beating fast but seemed calm at the same time. He felt like he could talk to her for hours, but sleep tugged on his mind.

Realizing how tired he actually was, he sighed, "I think I should go to bed. I would like to be awake when you guys leave."

Even though she was saying he needed to go, Mèabh noticed he made no effort to leave or let go of her hand. She nodded, "I agree. I'll see you in the morning." With one last squeeze, she let go of his hand and walked back down the hall to her room, feeling his gaze the whole way there.

The sound of footsteps dragged her out of her memory and to the present, where August along with seven men behind him walked towards her, their weapons in hand. When they all stopped, August began instructions, "Boy's this is Mèabh, as you know. Mèabh this is Ion, Jonz, Roman, Decagon, Bayron, Axis and Axiom.

Ion had blonde short hair that awkwardly hangs over his chiseled, lively face. Heavy blue eyes, set buried within his face. Scars stretching from the left side of his forehead , first running towards his fairly big lips and ending on his right cheek. In his hands was his weapon. A fairly short, thick, barbed blade made of folded steel is held by a grip wrapped in ordinary, brown wolf leather.

The razor-sharp point makes this weapon the best choice if you want to pierce, prick, puncture and perforate your enemies. The blade had a small, warped cross-guard, just large enough to make sure your fingers are safe and the blade will remain firmly in your hands. A massive pommel is marked with the sword maker's signature, a symbol of true greatness.

The blade itself is fairly simple. No decorations or engraved patterns. A sheathed sword has a hidden blade and a sword in use will be dirty and bloody, so only the hilt needs decorations.

Jonz had brown, shoulder-length hair almost fully covering his thin face. Narrow green eyes, and soft skin gracefully compliments his eyes and cheekbones. In his hand was a pleasant flatbow that has been masterfully constructed of heavy-duty adamantium. Its string was made from great quality horsehair, it's a very uncommon material around these parts of the world.

The limbs have been decorated with gilded details and end in points ornamented with teeth. The handle is wrapped in linen and decorated with ominous carvings. The long quiver is made from light leather and is supposed to be worn around the archer's belt. The outer side has been decorated with rows of large teeth, which may be purely decorational or might have a meaning.

Roman had ginger, dreadlocks almost fully covering his round, wild face. Piercing blue eyes, set far within their sockets. Freckles are spread elegantly across his cheeks and forehead. He too had a bow in his hand. This exceptional longbow has been properly constructed of amazingly strong poplar wood. Its string is made from first-rate polyester, it's a fairly uncommon material around these parts of the world.

The limbs have been decorated with intricate carve work and end in long points ornamented with gilded details. The handle is wrapped in ebon and decorated with magic runes.

The bulky quiver is made from woven leaves and is supposed to be worn around Roman's belt. The outer side has been decorated with magical runes, which likely have a significant meaning to the archer. In the hands of a novice archer this bow is capable of firing arrows up to 269 meters while still retaining lethal power.

Decagon had gray, shaggy hair which was tight in a ponytail revealing his skinny face. Bright gray eyes and a goatee charmingly compliments his cheeks. In his hand was 168 centimeters (66 inches) of superior brass form the base of this marvelous staff. Several intertwining cords only come together once to form a handle, which has been covered in a marble pattern.

The bottom ends in an elongated marquise shape made of metal and has been decorated with a smooth ribbon that wraps around and is engraved with glowing symbols. The top is made out of grand wood and has been crafted into bird wings, which has been decorated with a straight gilded lining on each side, with several small gems at equal distance from each other.

Bayron had black, perfectly groomed hair gently hanging over his sculpted face. Wide violet eyes, much like Mèabh. A moustache and goatee elegantly compliments his mouth. In his hand was a fairly small, thin, barbed blade made of iron held by a grip wrapped in ordinary, jade green boar hide.

A sharp, dual-edged blade makes this weapon the best choice for both cleaving and stabbing your enemies with ferocious power. The blade has a thin, curled cross-guard, just large enough to give the blade the perfect weight balance. The cross-guard has an elegant owl head on each side, this weapon is clearly meant to be taken care of with dedication.

A small pommel is decorated with a rare gem, which is to be expected from such an elegant weapon. The blade itself is engraved. Seemingly strange markings are carved into the blade, any engravings could only diminish the strength of the blade.

Axis and Axiom were twins. Axis had short brown hair with green eyes, a scar reaching from the bottom of the left cheek, running across the nose and Axiom had long hair he dyed blue, with green eyes and a 5 o'clock shadow covering his face.

Axis had 201 centimeters (79 inches) of elegant mahogany from the base of this noble staff. The staff starts off wide and narrows continuously towards the end, it only widens once more to form a handle, which has been adorned with tiny gems for a firm grip.

The bottom ends in a shield shape made of metal and has been decorated with a mosaic of smooth, multi-colored gems. All roughly the same size. The top is made out of first-class wood and has been crafted into a laurel shape, which has been decorated with countless spiky gems, giving the appearance of glowing barbs.

In his hand, Axiom had a forceful long afro shield, made from adamantine, that offered a tough safeguard, especially against bludgeoning attacks and piercing attacks. The shield's edges are augmented with double rows of metal studs and have been decorated with wing-like metalwork. Its center is decorated with complex metalwork and a painted animal head.

Mèabh finished looking over the boys and nodded, "Ready to get some food?"
