HICCUPS POV.

As the flames from the Titan Wing Monstrous Nightmare engulfed Hiccup he placed his hands over the slits of his helmet to protect his eyes from fire. The heat of the flames made Hiccup sweat and it felt as if his armor might just slide off him. The sound of the fire as it swirled around him overcame any other noise.

The heat and the sound of the fire soon disappeared and Hiccup removed his hands from the slits on his helmet. Everyone around him was silent even the dragons above him, along with Firestrom who now realized who he had truly attacked.

Firestorm's eyes wouldn't meet Hiccups as he rose from the charred dirt out of either shame or embarrassment. Possibly both. Hiccup approached Firestorm and positioned himself under him. The dragon in shame brought its head down and Hiccup placed his right hand between the animals nostrils.

The dragon must have been able to see in Hiccups eyes that he wasn't upset with its mistaken attack because it let out a short and happy roar. Hiccup whistled and all the dragons that had landed shortly rose into the air. They let out a series of short and happy roars and squawks and flew off into the distance.

Hiccup turned back to the gathering of Vikings behind him and addressed them all. "Dragons are not what you all think they are, they are kind and gentle creatures and they mean you no harm." Spitelout who had pulled himself up off the ground spoke first.

"If they mean us no harm then what would you call this boy'o?" Every Viking agreed with the Yorginson. "They were protecting me. They tracked me here and attacked out of concern for my safety." Hiccup rebottled. "Concern for your safety my rear, that dragon almost roasted you like a chicken!" Gobber said from somewhere in the crowd.

All the Vikings agreed again. "Firestorm didn't know it was me, and I was never in any danger." Why wouldn't they listen to him? They had just seen that the dragons could be reasoned with. "I have enough of this!" Stoicks voice cut through the murmurs of the crowd.

"You brought Hell down upon my village and my home. Onto the my friends and family." The chief continued. "Gobber's word may have spared you before but it won't know, you and your dragon will die!" The chief yelled pointing his sword at the boy.

The Vikings cheered at the verdict. "Tie him up! We'll make him watch his dragon die first!" The chief said giving the crowd one last thing to cheer about. "No!" Hiccup yelled but he couldn't be heard over the chanting. But a man and women's call could be. "Astrid!" Called the man. "Astrid where are you?" Called the women.

The Vikings looked down the street of houses that were beginning to put themselves out at a man and women searching frantically through the debris. It took Hiccup a moment to recognize the two because he had never really seen them much before, but when he did his heart sank.

They were Astrids parents. Hiccup stared down into his left hand were he still clutched Astrids axe. The wooden handle was black and it was almost charcoal and the axe head was severely scorched. "You! Thief of the Vikings!" The voice caught him off guard. He looked up and the Astrids mother wrap her hands around his throat hoisting him up to the air and then driving him onto the ground.

"Where is my daughter?!" She demanded fiercely her eyes showing pure hatred. "Th-th- the dra-." He tried to form a sentence but couldn't get any words out with his throat being squeezed so tight. He pulled on her wrists trying to get one breath of air. She eased up a slight bit letting him get a breath and speak a sentence.

"The dragons, they took her." The furious mother wrapped her hands around his neck tighter then they had been before. Hiccup desperately hit her hands hoping she'd get the message that he had something to say. She released a slight bit and he squeaked out five words. "I can get her back." Astrids mother released him and pulled him to his feet.

Astrids fathers then took over in the interrogation. "How can you get my daughter back?" He asked. Astrids father was much more level headed than his wife but nowhere near docile. "How!" He insisted. "My island, the dragon that took her most likely would have brought her there."

The father gripped him by the chest plate and pulled him close to his face. "Most likely!" He yelled. "It wouldn't kill her, and it didn't bring her back here! So most likely brought her there." Hiccup yelled back. He immediately regretted his decision to yell because the man could know very well kill him.

Instead the man grabbed the axe from his hands and started to lead him away from the crowd who stared at the two parents in confusion. "The Night Rider is under the protection of the Hofferson family. You want him dead you will have to kill us." No one no matter how much they disliked Night Rider dared to challenge the family.

The Hoffersons were fierce and dangerous warriors, they could easily take on twenty Vikings. But when fighting over the safety of there daughter, maybe fifty. "Get these fires put out and start on rebuilding!" He heard his father order from behind him.

There was the sound of heavy footsteps behind the two Hofferson parents and Hiccup and he knew it was his father. "It would be futile to try and stop us Stoick." Astrids mother said. "Well I'm still going to try." The Viking chief said. 'Stop them from what? They aren't going to kill me right?' Hiccup thought.

The four of them rounded a corner in the town and the arena was in front of them. "Look, I know what you two are going through, the loss of a child." Astrids father snapped instantly no longer the level headed man he was before. "Do not speak of her as if she's dead! I think you have her mistaken with another person."

The words were ice cold and they had come from a place of pain inside the man who's every instinct told him that his daughter was not dead, but every sense of reason these people knew that she was. The four of them were soon at the entrance to the arena. Stoicks next words were short and you could tell he had been hurt by the words.

"I'm sorry, but you are not letting him go." The women pulled her sword from her sheath and held it to there chiefs throat. "You may not let us, but it's happening none the less." The chief backed up allowing them to open the gate. They walked into the arena that was darker then the sky.

The women still held her sword at Stoick. "There will be consequences for this." He said eyeing her. "I don't care, at least my daughter will be safe." Astrids father tossed Hiccup to the cold stone ground outside one of the cages and opened it.

Hiccup couldn't see his dragon in the dark but he could hear his happy muffled roars. Hiccup rushed over to Toothless and hugged the dragon sliding off its muzzle. "I missed you to bud." He whispered. Unlike Hiccup and the others Toothless had no problem see in the dark and growled at the Vikings in front of him.

"It's ok bud, we're going home." He said mounting Toothless. The Night Fury walked out of the cage and stretched out its wings. They were about to take off when Astrids father grabbed his arm completely ignoring the threading growl from Toothless.

"If you don't bring her back alive, I will search to the ends of the Earth to kill you." Hiccup nodded back and the pair took to the sky and erupted out of the hole that was still in the roof of the arena. And the two sped off into the night leaving the smoldering Berk behind.
