ASTRIDS POV. An hour or two later
Astrid clutched onto the Nadders feet for dear life as they soared over the open ocean. Five minutes ago the flock had flown into Hellhimens gate. A thick wall a of fog that made up the archipelago, it was also the thing that most Vikings dare not to sail through.
But it must not be something that the dragons fear because the flock had flown into it without a second thought. Astrid had never been in the fog although many she knew on Berk had been. What they had described is exactly what she was experiencing.
They had said the fog was so thick they couldn't see twenty feet in front of there noses and now that she was being carried through it she could see how right they were. But one thing they had never described, was the feeling. There was a constant feeling of dread and unease that only seemed to intensify as you traveled deeper and deeper into it.
Every few minutes the flock would fly by an old Viking or merchant ship that had tried to make it through caught in sea stacks or in shallow water totally void of human life. It seemed like they had been in there for ages when the fog suddenly vanished like it had never been there.
What she saw on the other side was breathtaking, the moon appeared to be larger then it was on Berk and the stars littered the sky forming constellations that resembled different things depending on what angle you looked at them from. The dark sky didn't have a single cloud in sight which made the experience more breathtaking.
It wasn't until the dragons began to suddenly dive that she was brought back mentally to her current predicament. Astrid looked down to see a large island that had large pine tree's and short oak tree's and rolling cliffs.
There were dozens of rivers that weaved around the islands cliffs that she could see dragons drinking from. The amount of species she could recognize walking and flying around the island sent chill's up her spine, but what did more were the ones she couldn't recognize.
On top of one of the highest peaks was a wooden house. Much larger then any of the homes back on Berk which could only house around five people comfortably this one could probably house twelve. There were three chimneys that came out of separate parts of the house.
When she thought about the Night Rider's skills the first thing to come to mind was that he could control dragons, being able to build a house was never one of them. The Nadder dropped her from ten feet up in the air and landed itself. The Nadder stood there constantly shifting its head trying to get a better look at her.
Astrid reached behind her back for her axe but all she found was empty air. She backed up a few feet away from the dragon but it followed her. Astrid stepped back with her right foot and the Nadder stepped forward with its left leg.
Astrid brought her right leg back up and the Nadder did the same. Astrid looked at the dragon curiously. Was it studying her? Astrid took two quick steps forward and the dragon did the same but then she quickly had to jump back when she and the dragon ended up to close to each other.
The Nadder copied that jump as well. Astrid glanced at the door to the house and then back to the dragon. '20 feet.' She thought to herself. She had to make it twenty feet to get into the house. She made a b-line for the door but the dragon beat her to it and she stumbled away from it falling on her rear.
The sound of muffled laughter from above her drew her attention. She stared closely above her and it took her a while to notice the Night Rider on his dragon perched on the roof. "You." She said and the dragon jumped down from the roof and landed in front of her.
She quivered as she and the dragon looked into each others eyes. The man who blended in perfectly with his dragon dismounted. The man dressed in charred armor offered her his hand and after a moment she reluctantly took it.
The man pulled her off the ground with ease. 'He's stronger then I expected.' She noted to herself. "Take me home." She instructed. "I'm sorry but I cannot, Toothless needs to rest." He said in an apologetic voice. "Who?" She replied confused.
"My dragon." He said gesturing to the Night Fury that stood behind him who's eyelids kept slipping over his emerald green eyes. "Why is it tired? It's been in a cage for days." Astrid said, the last thing she needed was to be stuck on this island.
"You think he slept at all in there?" The usual charismatic voice turned stern and it reminded him of Stoick. "Answer me something Astrid, if you were muzzled and engaged. Would you sleep." She didn't respond. It was a good point but she would never admit it.
"I will return you to Berk in the morning. Until then I'll show you to where you'll be sleeping." The pair walked towards the door but the Nadder followed as well. "Made a friend have you." He said giving the Nadder a pet. "I don't think I'd call any dragon my friend, especially the one that kidnapped me."
The Night Rider chuckled through his mask. "She didn't kidnap you. She was protecting me." He said stroking the Nadder. "Protecting you from what, your only threat where the dragons." He shook his head. "Well technically if you were to remember correctly you had an axe to my throat."
Astrid scoffed at his response and the Nadder copied that to giving off a similar chirp. "Amazing, I think this dragons taken a shine to you." Astrid rolled her eyes. "Your joking right." The Night Rider clearly wasn't. "Would you like to tell me why this dragons 'taken a shine to me.'" She said copying his tone of voice.
"Well Nadders are fierce warriors among dragons and your one among Vikings so, it makes sense." Astrid rolled her eyes and walked into the house. "No it doesn't make sense." She whispered to herself as she observed the interior of the house.
To her right left was one of the fireplaces and then in front of that was the kitchen. "Your rooms up the stairs, first door on the left." She hadn't even noticed that he had come in. "Thanks." She said walking over to the stairs that were in the back left of the room.
She walked up them and into the first door on the left. The room was small but it had enough space for a bed and a good sized wardrobe. She closed the door and got into bed. It wasn't long before a breaking jar grabbed her attention.
