HICCUPS POV.

"Astrid kissed me, I can't believe she kissed me!" Exclaimed Hiccup who sat beside the waterline of the small lake inside the cove. "I mean why do you think she did that? Do you think it was just for like the flight I took her on or." Hiccup looked over to Toothless who was lying beside him eating one of the many fish he had caught.

"Do you think it was for another reason?" Hiccup asked his best friend. But Toothless simple plucked a fish out of the pile and devoured it without bothering to even look at his rider. Hiccup plucked a small stone from the grass and tossed it at the dragon as he reached back down into his pile of fish.

Toothless looked back up at Hiccup and snarled plucking a fish from the pile without breaking eye contact with his rider. "Sorry bud it's just." Hiccup ran his hand through his hair. "I don't know what to think." Toothless plucked another fish from the pile and devoured it.

"You know when your in my situation I'm not going to help you." He said standing up to pace but he could hear Toothless laugh from behind him. "Yeah laugh it up." He mumbled to himself kicking a small stone into the lake. The sun light reflected off the metal object in the lake and Hiccup had to shut his eye as the glint hit it.

He reached down into the water and pulled out his old knife. He remembered the day when he had kicked it into the lake. The day when he had seen for the first time that dragons weren't monsters. The blade of the dagger was uneven and dull to the touch from it spending the past three years submerged under the waters surface. He tried grasping the dagger by the hilt but it was to small now to be held comfortably.

Hiccup gripped the dagger tightly in one of his hands. A dagger that was once the perfect size for his past self now a tiny weapon. How much he had changed in the past three years, and not just physically but mentally. Hiccup looked down at the blade one more time, it was almost like looking down at his past. His past of being the worst Viking Berk had ever seen.

Hiccup caught a reflection of himself in the blade. His unshaven stubble beard, his unkept hair. He was no longer the worst Viking in Berk, he was the Night Rider. The thief of the Vikings and the Aid of the dragons. And with that he hurled the dagger out to the center of the lake and with a splash and a few ripples it disappeared into the lake leaving behind only a few ripples.

To the left of Hiccup Toothless pulled his head out of the pile of fish and looked up to the tree line above the cove's steep cliff's. His green eyes scanning closely. Hiccup did the same not seeing anything. But he did hear something. A silent almost impossible to hear crack of a twig from somewhere above in the tree line.

Hiccup plucked his helmet off the ground that had been lying by the shoreline and placed it over his head. Toothless was now standing looking towards the tree's with his eyelids narrowing into slits and emitting a low growl in his throat. Hiccup couldn't hear as well as his friend but he took it as there cue to leave when the growl that had been low in his throat became loud and threatening.

There was something or someone in the forest above. Hiccup rushed to Toothless's side and mounted the saddle and clipping into the pedals with his feet. "Sky Toothless." He said pulling up on the saddle making his friend take to the sky just in time as a Viking battle cry called out from the tree's and a bola missed them by only a few inches.

The rider leaned left and right on the saddle and adjusted the prosthetic tail rapidly making Toothless perform dives and quick pivots in the air trying to evade the bola's that seemed to be emerging from the tree line at a quickening rate. "Just a little longer bud we just need an opening." He told his friend as his eye's scanned the barrage of bola's looking for an opening so the two could escape into the open air.

"There!" He said pointing behind them and Toothless quickly made a move towards the opening in the cloud of bola's. "Keep going bud where almost there!" He encouraged as the amount of bola's they were surrounded by dwindled. Even thought the amount of bola's around them dwindled the steep stone walls that made up the cove were still in front of them looming closer and closer due to Toothless's incredible speed.

Hiccup shifted his foot into another position so they could pull up and avoid the wall but while the tail was in the process of changing a bola encircled itself around Toothless's artificial tail fin and his real tail fin making it impossible for the pair to avoid the wall. "No no no!" He screamed frantically trying to adjust the artificial tail fin but it was to late as the rider and dragon crashed into the stone wall.

Toothless crashed head first into the stone wall knocking him unconscious in an instant and throwing Hiccup from the saddle and into the stone cliff as well. The pair, one conscious and the other not fell down towards the ground, Hiccup clipped a rock that protruded from the cliff wall on his way down cracking the right side of his armor sending scales off in every direction.

He hit the ground with a thud knocking the wind out from his lungs immobilizing him for a few moments making so he couldn't avoid the unconscious Toothless who landed on his left foot pinning him to the ground. Hiccup sat up in pain and with both hands gripped his pinned leg and pushed Toothless away with his free leg trying to free himself.

There were multiple cries of pleasure and accomplishment coming from the direction of his attackers and as he looked over he could see a swarm of Vikings entering the cove all with large smiles spread across their faces. "Over there!" He heard a female Viking yell as she spotted them and the posse of Vikings started to charge around the lake towards him and Toothless.

Using all the strength he could muster Hiccup still tried frantically to free his leg from under Toothless but with every step the Viking posse took towards him it seemed more and more likely that this was going to be his last moments. But he wasn't going to except that. If he was going out, it wasn't going to be pinned under a dragon.

Hiccup pulled his Groncle iron sword from its sheath and wedged it under Toothless making sure the flat side was against his scales so he wouldn't hurt him. He pressed down on the sword and Toothless's body began to rise and with one last burst of energy he pulled his foot out from under the dragon.

Hiccup rose from the ground and pulled his sword out from under his friend brandishing it in front of him making the posse stop about thirty feet in front of him. "I'll deal with him myself." Said a man as he stepped out from in the crowd. A burley man with broad shoulders and large muscles and thick red hair. His father.

"You get him chief." Yelled a Viking. "He doesn't stand a chance!" Yelled another which was accompanied with dozens of other encouraging words towards his father. "I don't want to fight you." Hiccup said but his father didn't listen. The chief charged at his enemy with his axe down by his side until he brought it up at lightning speed which Hiccup was barely able to block.

His father advanced quickly attacking with two quick swings directed at his arms before taking a step back. His father was a professional warrior. He had been training his whole life to defeat his enemies but Hiccup had been self taught. Only learning his skills as a warrior through fights with dragons and dragon hunters.

Hiccup blocked one of his fathers attacks but he quickly brought his axe down towards Hiccups legs leaving his torso exposed which his father took advantage of. Stoick punched Hiccup in the chest making him fall to the ground. His father raised his axe above his head ready to bring it down when Hiccup sprang up from the ground and with one punch knocked his father to the grassy floor.

There were gasps from the crowd as the punch had been so hard it knocked there chiefs helmet off his head leaving it lying on the ground beside him. Hiccup raised his sword above his head and looked down on his father. He didn't move, he didn't try to fight back. He had been beaten. Hiccup pushed his sword down and rammed it into the ground and offered his father a hand up from the ground.

There was silence from him, his father and from the crowd. Would his father take his hand? Would his father accept or would he stand up on his own. After what felt like many minutes his fathers hand moved slowly up to Hiccups and the two grabbed each other's hands. From under his mask a large smile spread across Hiccups face.

His father accepted his hand! Could this mean he could tell his father who he was? Could he go hom-." The first thing he felt was the pain. The pain in the right side of his torso. He looked down at his father who had in his moment of weakness and distraction had picked up his axe and attacked. He had rammed his axe through the damaged part of his armor that he had received in the crash.

Hiccup stumbled back a few feet his hand leaving his fathers who rose from the ground himself. The pain, it hurt so bad. He lost his footing and fell onto his back. Around the pain he could feel blood spreading. Hiccup squeezed his eye's shut for a moment as his vision blurred. When he opened them again his father stood above him.

The chief reached down and pulled the axe out causing Hiccup to squirm in pain. He tried speaking but no sound came out. As Hiccups father stood above his raising the axe above his head readying to preform the final blow Hiccup reached out with his hand. He placed it on his fathers foot and tried to form a single sentence.

"Spa-sp-spar-sp- spare." Hiccup let out a raspy cough and his vision blurred again. "Spare Toothless." He said but his father kicked off his hand not listening to his final plea. As his father raised the axe higher into the air blood from the blade dripped down onto his face mask. Hiccup looked away from his father and saw Toothless.

Still lying on his side unconscious. Would they kill him? What was he thinking, of course they would. Or they would use him for sport. "I love you bud." He chocked out quietly and looked back to his father. His father looked down on his masked enemy, and his masked enemy looked up at him. The chief of Berk and the heir that was presumed dead reunited once more, and for the last time.

"Spare Toothless." Hiccup closed his eye's trying to relax for his final moments. Hiccup took a deep breath trying to slow and steady his breathing. "IT'S HICCUP!" Yelled a voice. 'No Astrid no, why would you tell him? Why would you tell him...'
