ASTRIDS POV.

"Astrid. Astrid wake up." Said a deep and gruff voice as a large hand shook her by the shoulder. Astrid's eyelids slowly peeled open and she let out a big yawn stretching her arms as she pulled herself up from the wooden table where she had been leaned against sleeping. "Sorry I must have fallen asleep." She said to the man she now recognized as Stoick.

"It's alright lassie." He said moving away from her and move towards the still unconscious Hiccup. Astrid knew that Goathy had said that his chances of survival where slim and Astrid knew that healing takes time but for some reason she felt that if Hiccup didn't wake up soon that he never was going to.

Astrid noticed the amount of light that shinned through the thin fabric of the tent. "What time is it?" She asked with a final yawn. "Early, the sun has only been up for a few moments." Astrid rose from the stool and offered it to Stoick so he could sit after she noticed the dark circles beneath his eyes. Stoick had probably been up the entire night talking with the Vikings who had seen Hiccups face and trying to calm other furious Vikings about the fact that they were caring for the Night Rider.

Astrid on the other hand guessed that she had only slept for about four maybe five hours because of how long she had sat with Hiccups dragon. She stretched both her legs. From sitting with Hiccups dragon for hours on the arenas stone floor and then sleeping in such an uncomfortable position it felt as if her legs and back where more stone now then muscle and bone.

"Has there been any change?" Asked the chief as he plucked his sons hand from the table and grasped it in his own. "No." She said diverting her eyes towards the floor as she couldn't bare to see the sadness of her answer in his eyes. Astrids stomach growled from hunger and she finally noticed how hungry she was. When was the last time she had eaten?

I must have been days, it was the day she had shot down Hiccup and his dragon because after that she and Goathy mended to his wound, and then she had to go find the twins and that took the whole day, then the raid where she was taken. And at Hiccups house she haven't eaten either.

Days, she hadn't eaten for days. It was weird for her to think about, that all that had happened to her recently, shooting down The Night Rider, being taken, finding out who was beneath the dragon scale mask. It was weird to think that all of that had transpired in a few days. "You should go to the Great Hall, I'm sure there's still some food there from last nights feast." He said taking a seat in the stool.

"Feast?" Astrid asked. "Yes, last night there was a feast held in celebration of our capture of the Night Rider." He rubbed his eyes and Astrid could see that the events of the past few days had been very taxing on him. "Go Astrid." He said looking up to her. "I'll keep an eye on him." Astrid thought it unwise to disagree with him plus why would she, she was starving.

As Astrid walked out of the tent she immediately felt uncomfortable as all the surrounding eyes from the Vikings where on her. Outside of the tent there where around three dozen Vikings who looked at her angry and displeased that the Night Rider was still alive. The cocky Viking that had threatened to behead Toothless also stood among the crowd.

Judging by the fact that the village still didn't know about the Night Riders identity she assumed that the speech Stoick had given him and the others about Hiccups identity had compelled him not to tell anyone but by his presence among the mob of angry Vikings made it fairly clear that it didn't matter to him that the Night Rider was the heir to Berk he wasn't happy with him still breathing.

Astrid walked through the streets that was packed with Vikings fixing a variety of things but after a few minuets she noticed that they were all having almost identical conversations. Each conversation she listened into was about the Night Riders capture. "Why is he still alive?" Or "Why are we helping him?" Where general statements that she could hear from most of them.

After a few minutes she reached the staircase that traveled up to the entrance of the Great Hall. As she ascended the stairs she could tell that there was definitely a feast that took place because the staircase was littered with dropped ale mugs and a few bones from what looked like chicken legs. Astrid took a single step into the grand room of the Great Hall and could not get out quicker.

The repulsive smell of the room alone was enough to put the toughest of Vikings into a daze but the rooms odor after a feast almost put Astrid into a coma. She forced herself to breath with her mouth as she entered the room but somehow she still got nauseous which made her grimace. If the stairs and the smell didn't confirm that there was a feast then the room certainly did.

There were bones from chicken and sheep, left out bowls of soup and even some overturned stools and tables but most of all where the ale mugs. She didn't even know Berk had so many mugs! The Great Hall was surprisingly empty but it became less surprising when she realized most of the Vikings where most likely working off a hangover. Astrid weaved around the room avoiding the trash that littered the floor and eventually she made it to a big cauldron of soup that hung over a smoldering fire.

Astrid pulled a bowl and spoon from the stack she hoped was clean and ladled what appeared to be yak soup into her bowl. After a moment of trying to decide at what table was the cleanest to sit at she settled upon one that was in the far corner on the room that way if anyone came in they would have a lower chance of seeing her. Astrid was sleep and food deprived the last thing she needed was to have a conversation with a hungover Viking.

Astrid sat at the table and began shoveling the soup into her mouth ignoring that fact that she needed to breath until she was almost blue in the face. "I can't believe their letting that heathen live!" A furious voice boomed as a teenage boy walked through the doors and into the Great Hall.

"I mean the Aid to the Dragons!" Astrid looked up from her bowl and noticed that Snotlout was the one who had interrupted her meal. He was talking to or more like yelling to the twins and Fishlegs who trailed closely behind him. "Has Berk really sunk so low that we will help heathen's who have terrorized in and out of the Archipelago!" The teenager continued to shout.

"Do you even know what heathen means Snotlout?" Fishleg's asked. "Of course I know what it means Fishy it means - ummm it means - ummm it means." Snotlout stopped walking and placed his hand on his chin tapping it with his finger as he thought. "That's exactly what I thought." Said Fishlegs passing the confused Viking. "Oh shut up Fishface!" Snotlout said through his teeth.

"I think it's cool that the Night Riders here!" Yelled Tuffnut excitedly. "I mean I wonder if he'll teach me how to ride a dragon!" He said words just pouring a ask lol out of his mouth. "And I hope I ge-!" His twin placed her hand over his mouth. "WE hope WE get a Hideous Zippleback! Two heads!" Tuffnut removed his sisters hand from his mouth and finished the sentence. "Twice the explosions..." The twins snickered to each other exited about there plan.

"No, no!" Snotlout yelled turning towards the two. "You two are not going near that man he can't be trusted!" Ordered Snotlout but the chances either of the twins would listen to him are about a zero percent chance. Ever since Snotlout was made the heir he acted like he was better than everyone and liked to think he could order people around, not like he'd not do that if he wasn't heir.

"And plus if anyone's going to be getting a dragon around here it's me." The arrogant Viking pointed to himself with his thumbs. "The heir." The twins nodded there heads but when he turned away they began snickering between one another again. Astrid tried sneaking into the shadows of the room to tryand not be seen but with the room being highly illuminated by mass amounts of cooking fires and torches she knew it was only a matter of time until she was seen.

"You really think you'd be the one to get a dragon Snotlout. If anyone here was to get one it would be me." Said Fishlegs pouring soup into a bowl. "Oh yeah and what tells you that?" Asked Snotlout clearly offended that Fishlegs thinks he'd be more worthy over him. "Well if they wanted Berk to still be standing they wouldn't give you a dragon Snotlout they'd give me one the most level headed Viking in Berk."

Snotlout scoffed. "Please you wouldn't know level headed if a boulder fell on your head and made it level." Fishlegs turned back to the heir and gave him a questionable look. "Well I think if anyone's going to get a dragon it's Astrid." Said Ruffnut folding her arms. "And what makes you think that?" Said the heir angry once more that someone thinks someone is more worthy than he is.

"Well isn't it obvious? The reason Astrid came back alive at all is clearly because the Night Rider is in love with her and he'll give her a dragon as a wedding gift!" She said upset but her brother gave her a look. "Are you kidding me!" He shouted. "It's Astrid who's in love with him and she's clearly trying to save his life hoping that it'll make him love her back!" Astrid scoffed and rolled her eyes at the two's theories.

Astrid shifted her right arm on the table but accidentally knocked one of the mugs off of it and onto the floor with a loud clatter. Astrid tensed up and looked at the group of Vikings who now had there's eyes on her. The four where instantly running towards her stumbling over each other, plates, and mugs trying to reach her first.

Snotlout won and almost jumped across the table to reach her. "Astrid I'm so glad your back when you were taken I was so worried!" Yelled Snotlout which made Astrid feel disgusted. "Astrid where we're you?" Fishlegs asked through heavy pants. "Zippleback, Zippleback, Zippleback!" Chanted the twins in unison.

"I was on his island." Astrid said answering Fishlegs. "His island!" Exclaimed Fishlegs. "Was there a lot of dragons?!" Asked the twins, excitement plastered on there faces. "Uhh yeah." She said sand the two scurried off to do God's no what. "I can't believe he kidnapped you! Ugh I'm so angry right now!" Snotlout said his face turning red hot in anger.

"I wasn't kidnapped, if I was he never would have brought me back." She explained to the two Vikings to still remained. "He was actually very nice." She said her voice adopting a softer tone as she remembered how kind he had been to her even when she had not shown it back to him. "Kind! People like him cannot be kind!" Snotlout shouted furiously spinning around and exiting the Great Hall.

"I'm glad your okay." Said the remaining Viking before turning to follow Snotlout out of the Great Hall. "The twins are wrong about a lot of things but they were right about one thing today." He turned his head back to face her. "You do love him." Astrid turned red at the comment and turned away so he couldn't see her blush. "Good luck." He said and then he left.

Astrid quickly left the Great Hall after that to busy to think eat after what Fishlegs had said about her. In love with Hiccup! She wasn't in love with Hiccup! Astrid remembered the moment when Hiccup had been trying to convince her to help him free the dragons, she remembered the sudden feeling she had had when he was pleading with her. She hadn't been able to identify it their but could it have been... love?

Astrid walked a few more steps when she looked up and noticed she was already standing outside of the medical area. She continued up to the front of the tent and placed both hands on the flaps. Would Hiccup be awake when she goes in? She didn't see Goathy around so maybe she was in there helping Hiccup. Astrid pulled open the flaps but Hiccup was still lying on the table unconscious and Stoick still sitting by his side.

(Authors Note) (Please Read) Okay, okay I know I have a lot to repent for. First I'd like to apologize to cs1122334455 for telling you that there would be a new chapter in around three days but in fact there wasn't one for almost two weeks so I apologize. Also like always if there's any spelling mistakes you see leave a comment of the paragraph there in and I'll try to fix them. Another thing is I tried to put the other teens in this chapter but I'm not sure how I did with them so if you can leave a comment telling me if there like there movie/tv counterparts or if there not so in the future I can edit them. And finally just needed to let you all know that I'm going on vacation and won't be back for five days so I don't know when I'll be back so I won't be able to give anyone an estimate on when the next chapter will be. -Samuel Scutter
