Arabella Cattaneo POV
It had been 3 months since we started school. 3 months since we met Selena. 3 months since we've been in New York City.
And it didn't take long for us to figure out that her family was part of the Spanish mafia. She had opened her photo app once to show us a meme she made and a clear photo of the don was in it, her making a funny face next to him as he smiled. It was obvious they were family and I wasn't going to end my friendship because I could potentially die if they found out we knew.
"Hey, guys?" She gathered our attention from 'Miraculous LadyBug'.
"Yea?" I asked since Dans mouth was full of popcorn.
"I was wondering, since it's been 3 months since we've met and I've never seen anyone over the age of 20 here." She furrows her brows. "And you guys live together. Are you both adopted or what? And what do your parents or guardians do for work cause this penthouse must cost at least like 90 million?" She questions, curiously.
Dan gives me a face and I sigh, "We live with our adopted father. He's an investor and he travels a lot so he's almost never here but it's whatever."
"Oh! Well anyways, my parents have been wondering who hell would be my friend and decided to invite you bitches for dinner. Do you guys wanna come? It's tomorrow at 7. Plus you get to see my beautiful house! And my parents are amazing. Please come!" She pleaded.
"We would love to go. I'm so excited! I feel like I'm your boyfriend and I'm meeting your parents. Omg I'm so scared! What if they don't like me? What if-" he rambled on again.
"They'll love you. They love me and you are like me except more hyper and innocent. They'll love belly too. She's like me except with trust issues and she hates most people." Lena giggled. Danny chuckled as I had a smile on my face as I rolled my eyes.
"Oh! What's the dress code! I don't want to be too dressed up or too dressed down!" Danny worriedly questions.
"Dress casually but more on the fancy side!" She screamed as she waved us bye, stepping into the elevator.

So here I was, standing in front of Selena's parents house which was a little bit out of the city. It was huge and was lit up beautifully. It was pretty dark considering it was NYC, 7 pm in early December.
I was wearing a black long black dress that was stuck on my body like a glove, a slit showing my legs even though it was cold as balls outside. Danny was wearing a black turtleneck and black pants.
"I'm nervous. Are you nervous? I don't think so. Why aren't you nervous? What if they don't like me? What if they hate me? What if they don't let us be friends with LeLe anymore? What if they kick us out? What if-"
"Jordan Reece Hassan. You are amazing and if they don't like you and your amazing personality, it's their loss. Just relax." I gave him a pep talk.
"Okay. Okay. I got this!" He inhaled and exhaled, knocking on the door.
A few seconds later, Selena was at the door, smiling like a clown, "Hey guys, come in! My parents are already at the table and they are excited to meet you guys."
She led us towards the fancy as fuck dining table that had a huge chandelier and mahogany chairs with a big table. A woman in her late thirties sat next to a man who was in his early forties. The woman looked like an older version of Lena and the man had the same grey eyes as her but looked cold.
"Madre, Padre, these are my best friends, Arabella Cattaneo and Jordan Hassan." Lena introduced as her parents stood from their seats.
"Hi! I'm Selena's mom, you can call me Camila." She smiled warmly at us.
"Matias Gonzalez, Selena's father." He nodded, his Spanish accent coming out thick, way thicker than Lena's.
I always saw pictures of him on the dark web and I knew he was hot but in real life...
"Nice to meet you, I'm Jordan as you know." Danny giggled.
"Arabella, nice to meet you guys." I smiled.
We quickly got seated, Jordan and Camila were talking about some food recipes as me, Lena and Mr. Gonzalez sat on the table. Lena sat next to me, whispering random shit.
"So Arabella, where did you move from?" Mr. Gonzalez asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"We moved from Italy to England and then the USA." I truthfully answered.
He nodded, "We as in you and Jordan?"
"Yea. With our adoptive father." I lied this time, looking straight into his grey eyes.
"What does he do for work? Selena mentioned you guys have a huge penthouse." He questioned again, lifting one eyebrow.
"He's an investor, he travels a lot so we don't see him often." I answered, lying again as he nodded.
"And so you and Jordan live by yourselves?" He hummed.
"Yea." I nodded again.
He was about to question me again when a few maids came into the room and put down some paella and left quickly.
"You have a different surname than Jordan. Why is that?"
"We were both best friends, adopted at 13. Daniel, our adoptive father, gave us a decision to keep our last names or change it to his surname. We chose to keep ours." Jordan joined the conversation.
-
When we all finished, Mr. Gonzalez left to make a phone call. We were currently talking to Camila about clothes and jewelry.
"Camila, Selena, come here for a second." Mr. Gonzalez called.
Jordan and I were left in the huge modern white living room. "Do you think he's going to find out?" Danny muttered, lowly.
"No." I whispered back. "I hid everything and if they need to call Daniel, I'll give him Areno's name."
Areno was a man we knew from the academy. He left shortly after we did and we kept in touch. We protected him. He protected us.
Selena came into the room, she had tears in her eyes, her dad and mom rushing behind her.
"What's wrong?" Danny asked, confused as to why they were running into the room and Lena had tears in her eyes.
"Who the fuck hired you?" Her father glared, hiding Camila and Lena from our sight, pulling out a gun, aiming at us.
