"Bye!" I waved, "Be back before 12, (y/n)!" Mom said and I nod as I left. I wasn't that far from the festival and I could definitely get there in no time. As I walked on the unpaved road, with the sky glistening with stars I gazed around.

There wasn't much to look at, it was just houses after houses. I looked at the lit up window of another house and could see a figure of a woman, when we made eye contact the light suddenly vanished.

The street was empty and it only added up with the creepiness of it as I clutch on my purse, my other hand digged inside and clutching on my pepper spray. There were leafless trees that stood beside me, maybe one of it is a gallow-tree.

I finally made it to the festival, there were a lot of people considering how big they set this place up. In the night, it almost looked like an amusement park for how bright the lights are.

Fairy lights were everywhere, my eyes glistened with the colorful radiant of Christmas Parols lined up above. We used to make some when I was just a kid.

Kids ran with their candy floss of different colors, people ate and laughed. This place was so lively to see and here I was, standing at the corner being a wallflower. A few people looked at me and I felt anxious, some came up to me and said hello.

I felt a tap on my shoulder as I look around, "Hello!" a woman said that seemed to be in her 20s. "H..hi" I awkwardly said, fiddling with the loose threads of my sweater.

She looked lovely, with her icy, blue eyes that compliments her gingery blond hair. She was quite taller than me and wore a simple knitted, white sweater, the left side showing her shoulder and a pair of whitewashed jeans and fur boots.

She gave me a candy floss that's the color of purple, I hesitated at first but she insisted.

"I haven't seen you around here! It's honestly refreshing to see a new face," she said with a smile, "By the way, the name is Norah!" she extend her hand to give me a handshake as I took it, "My name is (y/n), nice to meet you Norah." I smiled back.

We began to talk and found a lot of things we're in common, like how we both find this town creepy and other things like the love of books. Especially romance and fan fictions.

Soon enough, music began to play. Norah got asked to dance with a man and here I was, standing in the shadows eating candy floss. I'll never make friends here, I thought to myself.

I watched as Norah danced with the man who has dark, brown hair. I let out a quiet laugh when I saw her trip, she wasn't the best dancer and I was no better.

As they danced through the night, I felt myself feeling tired from standing there.

I threw the stick of the candy floss to the trash and went to the table of food. There were many people gathered there, and I only came to get a cup of cranberry juice.

I sipped the juice from the cup, tasting the sweet, deep, cherry-like flavor. When I squeezed myself out of the crowd of people, I saw a tall figure at where I once was. I walked towards him and as I got closer, I felt sucked in. His dark brown eyes complimented his upturned cat-like shaped eyes, his lashes were long, dark and curved.

His hair was black as an ebony, silky and lustrous. His skin was quite pallor, yet it complimented him well. An unusual sight to see.

The dashing man wore an all black outfit, a turtle neck sweater with black jeans and shoes. As I stood there a few inches from him, he turned to me and I looked back, our eyes met each other. "Hello" he greeted, his voice deep and velvety like the one I heard from my dreams.

I felt myself feel flustered but kept my thoughts away. "Hi" I said in a friendly tone and paired it with a smile, I don't want people to think I'm quite a snob.

He extended a hand and I looked at him, eyebrows raised. "My name is Perseus, you must be (y/n)." he said, taking my hand and kissing the top. Not once did he let go of my gaze, I felt penetrated with his stare as I couldn't look away. Once more, I felt myself blushing.

I immediately took my hand from his, "Uh, how did you know my name?" I ask with a slight chuckle.

"I heard you," his lips curved to a smile, "You must be a newcomer, I never seen a pretty face like yours before here." he clasps his hands together and finally let go of my gaze, looking at the crowd in front of us.

"Oh, yeah. I'm new here." I said, carefully thinking out what to say to not reveal any hints of where I live. From the looks of our neighbors, I don't think I'll take any chances to lose friends just because of a haunted house.

"So you must be the new people that moved into the mansion? People speculate a lot-" I turned to look at him and covered his mouth, the empty cup in my hand falling to the ground.

To my surprise, his skin was awfully cold. But it might just be because of the cold weather we're having. His eyes widened in surprise, and so did mine.

I retrained from my steps and cleared my throat, feeling embarrassed from what I just did. "S..sorry...I just don't want people to know that. People had been giving my family and I weird looks because of it." I said, following with a sigh.

I looked at him and saw him covering his nose with his hand. "Are you okay? Did I hit your nose? I'm very sorry!" my heart began to pump fast, feeling embarrassed but also regretful of my actions.

I heard him inhale and looked at me as he breathe out. He put his hand away from his face and for a moment, I thought I saw his dark brow eyes gleam.

"I'm fine (y/n), I just thought I'd check my breathe." he explained with a following chuckle. He extended his arm in front of me and I look at him with curiosity, obviously not having an idea.

The song suddenly changed from pop to something more slow. "Dance with me, (y/n)." he said with a smile and before I could even protest, he pulled me towards him and went to the center of people. I gulped, his left hand sliding down to my waist.

"I..I'm not a good dancer, Perseus." I said in a whisper, biting down on my bottom lip. People looked at us, I felt more anxious than ever. I didn't like being the center of attention, and this was certainly a nightmare come true.

Perseus began to move, his fingers intertwining with my own. He moved close to my ear, I could feel his cold breath tickling me. "Just follow my lead." Perseus said with reassurance, looking at me with a hint of curiosity. It was as if he was trying to figure something out of me, yet I do not know what.

I was transfixed with his beauty and gaze, and not once did I slipped nor stepped on his shoes. I smiled, feeling proud to be able to follow his lead and not feel dumb.

Perseus seemed to be a talented dancer. I looked at the corner of my eye, seeing the other people's partner's switch places, I looked back at Perseus "Huh, we haven't switched places yet." I said with confusion written all over my face. He puts his fingertips on my chin, there I felt the same bitterly-cold touch. "Just look at me, (y/n)." he said with his gaze holding mine.

After the dance was over, I was quite happy with it. "(Y/n)!" I heard Norah call out my name from behind. I turned around to see her walking hastily towards me with a drink of cranberry on her hand and in the spur of the moment, two hands firmly grasped my shoulder as I was spun around to meet Perseus face. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" I heard Norah gasp in shock, when I look around I saw Perseus's back drenched in cranberry. The stain wasn't that noticeable with his black turtle neck on.

"Th..thanks." I mumbled, still in shock on what just happened. It was like out of a movie. "Are you okay, (y/n)?" asked Perseus, I nod in reply. "Are you?" I asked, looking at his drenched back.

"I'm really sorry!" Norah frowned, trying to find something to wipe his back with. He put up a hand and gave Norah a small smile, "It's fine." he said sternly.

Just by looking at his eyes, I could tell he was quite annoyed. I took off my scarf and pat his back, getting the excess juice out. He looked at me and was stock still, "Breath, Perseus." I reminded him and rolled my eyes.

"Thank...you, (y/n)." he said softly, looking intensely in my eyes as I met his.

He gripped onto my wrist, stopping me from wiping his drenched back. "I'll...I'll wash it for you." he said taking the scarf from my hands, I protested but he insisted as I finally gave up and agreed. A few girls went up to him as Norah slipped in.

"Whose the lucky guy?" she asked in a whisper, "He's just a friend, Norah. And besides, we just met." I answered, feeling flustered from her question. "Oh come on, a friend? Are you sure about that? Clearly he doesn't see you that way." she giggled. I cast a glance at Perseus who looked at me at the corner of his eye, ignoring the other swooning ladies as I quickly retraced my gaze back.

After a long chat with Norah, I took a peek on my phone and was surprise to see that it was already eleven-thirty. I look up at Norah and Perseus, "Uhm, its close to midnight. I have a curfew so I have to go." I said. "I can walk you home, (y/n)." Perseus smiled at me, "No thanks! I can go by myself." I said, turning down the offer.

We said our goodbyes, looking at each other's eyes once more. "Walk safe." Perseus added.
