Perseus's POV
I sat there at the roof of one of the houses, a few blocks away from (y/n)'s home. I stared at her, walking down the empty road while clutching tight on her pepper spray.
"No one will hurt you, not until I get the taste of that blood." I said as if she could hear me from here. The tip of my ring finger circled around the rim of the plastic cup, (y/n)'s lipstick stain was visibly there.
I put the cup against my nose, eagerly smelling her scent that was left. I want her. For the first time ever, I felt a sense of thrill.
It's been so long since I felt the urge, the pain of not having her blood against my tongue. And hers only. I've played with her dreams before, yet today was unsuccessful.
I felt powerless, confused and bothered. I didn't understand it. Why cant I control her? but then again, that's what makes it so...exciting.
"(Y/n), (y/n)," I laughed, her name rollijg out of my tongue naturally as if I knew her for years.
A strong wind blew by, a strand of my hair flew between my eyes. Before (y/n)'s stained scarf could even fall down, I caught it with my hand.
I put it up against my face, the scent becoming more powerful. I'll make your blood mine, (y/n).
(Y/n)'s POV
I woke up from my phone vibrating beside me. I turned away, trying to get more sleep. It stopped for a few seconds until it started vibrating once more.
Feeling annoyed, I finally reached for my phone and answered. "Hello?" I said, my voice quite raspy for just waking up. "Hey (y/n)! It's Norah!" she said from the other side of the phone, "Hey Norah, what's up?" I asked while I stood up and stretched my back, a yawn following right after.
"Just wanted to ask if you would like to go out? There's a new café that was close to the festival yesterday night." Norah explained.
I looked outside and it was snowing quite heavy, "Uh, yeah sure." I answered back, "Excellent!" she said in excitement.
We both hanged up after a few small talks as I headed downstairs. "Good morning, (y/n)!" My mom said, pecking me on the cheek.
"Can I borrow your car later, mom? I'm going out with a friend." I asked, even though I'm certain she wouldn't say yes since she doesn't trust me much with a vehicle.
"Absolutely not, (y/n)." my mom fumed, I knew it. "Then can Alex drive me there?" I plea, this time with a little more hope.
She thought about it for a minute and finally looked at me, "Fine." she gave in as I hug her. "Oh come on!" Alex complained, not wanting to go. I nudged his shoulder and teased him. I honestly love ruining my sibling's day.
"Aw, you're so cute when you're annoyed!" I laughed, poking him by the cheek as he slapped my hand away. "Oh, fuck off (y/n)." he mumbled. "Aw, that's cu-" before I could even finish my sentence we heard a loud thud coming from underneath. I flinched.
My mom gasped from the sudden noise. "Was that from the basement?" My brother asked, slapping my frozen hand away from his face.
"I heard noises from inside there before, its probably just a huge rat knocking off things." I explained, giving out my best logical answer for those noise. But even though that could be a possibility, it still freaks me out.
I was upstairs in my bedroom, ready to dress up to meet with Norah.
As I was about to lift up my shirt I heard a creak from the door behind me. I looked around and only saw my door slightly open.
I knew I definitely closed that. I peeked out of my room and looked left and right, "Alex, did you open my door?" I asked in a yell but he replied back sayinghe didn't.
I sigh and closed the door, locking it this time. "Stupid perverted ghosts." I mumbled to myself, trying my best to keep my composure and possibly not freak myself out.
I stared at the mirror and fixed the wrinkles of my black, denim jacket. On top of it was a white turtleneck and a pair of black jeans, pairing it with my black Dr. Martens boots.
I heard a knock on my bedroom door as I opened it to see Alex with his green beanie and green sweater, pairing it with his dark, denim jeans. "Can we go now?" Alex asked impatiently with a foot tapping on the floor nonstop, I nod in reply as we went inside the car.
When we arrived in front of the café, I immediately saw Norah waiting patiently through the window, when she finally noticed me she waved her hand. "Is that her?" Alex asked, looking close "Why didn't you tell me you have a hot friend, sis?" I pushed him back to his chair and glared.
"Bye! Now go away!" I said as I got out, "Aw, you won't even introduce your brother?" Alex frowned.
"Why should I?" I crossed my arms, waiting for his reply. He laughed, "Because I got the car key!" he grinned, twirling the keys around his index finger.
Alex and I went inside the door, the bell chiming as a way to say welcome. This place was moderately packed, with some busy people with their laptops and others with friends or individuals on a date.
I walked towards Norah as we hugged, greeting each other. Norah nudged me on the shoulder "Is that your boyfriend, (y/n)?" she asked in a whisper.
I backed away and disagreed, though the words came out louder than I anticipated as some eyes laid on me.
Alex extended an arm out to shake Norah's hand, they introduced themselves and began to talk. As they talked, I couldn't help but notice how Norah beginning to act more shy.
As my thoughts withdraw from them, I looked out at the large window beside us. The sky today was gray and dull, no light seeped through but snow.
I looked down to see people walking pass, some with a hot cocoa in hand. A few were in a hurry, probably to work. But there was one man that stood still, just meters away from me. A tall figure with nothing but black clothing from head to toe.
I couldn't see his face from the shadow his hat casted on his face. "Sorry for the wait!" A male voice said, I looked away and was met eye to eye with a young man, probably around my age. His eyes were the color of emerald green and his messy hair was of the color of ash brown.
He smiled at us and placed down our drinks. When he left I looked back at the window, the man no longer stood there. He reminded me of one person, and that was Perseus. A strange man with a strange name.
I drank my coffee, the aroma giving off as quite nutty. The three of us began to talk, both Alex and Norah seemed to be having fun with each others company.
When we finally finished our drinks, it was time for us to leave. We stood up from our seats and left the shop, the same green eyed boy waving goodbye.
"It was nice meeting you, Alex." Norah smiled, "Let's hangout again sometime." Alex chuckled and I rolled my eyes, "Okay lovebirds, I already felt like a third wheeler inside so calm down alright?" I said while breaking them apart.
"You're no fun, (y/n)." Norah pouted, crossing her arms. My eyes gazed from the left as I saw a bookshop that I never noticed before. I looked back at the two "I'll just go to the bookstore for a bit." I announced and walked off.
I went inside and was greeted by an old lady at the counter, "Welcome to CrooksBooks, miss." she gave me a gentle smile as I smiled back. I looked around and went to the back aisle of the bookstore, CrooksBooks wasn't that big but it sure did have a lot of secondhand books.
While I scanned through the shelf, a book from the other side fell down to the floor in front of me.
I picked it up and looked up to see the same dark brown eyes I've seen in the party. My eyes widened as he walked from the other side to mine. I faced him and there he was, wearing a black sweater and denim jeans.
It must have been another man that I saw from the café then. "Didn't expect you here, (y/n)." Perseus smiled, waving a hand. "Hey, Perseus." I chuckle as he look down to my hand, he tilt his head. A sudden smirk appeared from his face, "I didn't know you were into that, (y/n)." he let out a quiet laugh.
I looked down from the book that fell and felt myself heating up, it was a book about sexual intercourse. I immediately put it back on the shelf and furrowed my brows, "Of course not!" I suddenly burst out of embarrassment.
Good thing we were at the back of the aisle, the shelf covered us and the only way to see us was behind Perseus.
I felt his hand suddenly caressed my cheek, he had black leather gloves on but I could still feel the chill from his touch. I stayed stock still as he suddenly began to lean towards me.
I looked at his eyes, his gaze penetrating me. I blinked. "What are you doing?" I asked with a lifted brow, making Perseus stop. "Hm, there," he said, pulling his hand away.
"There was an ant crawling up on you." he explained and showed me the tiny, dead ant.
My phone vibrated in my pockets. I took out my phone and saw a text from Alex, telling me to come back to the car.
I looked back up at Perseus and smiled, still feeling flustered, especially after what he just did. "I...I gotta go, Alex is waiting for me so-"
"Whose Alex?" Perseus ask, lifting up a brow. "He's my brother." I replied back, "Ah." was what he said and just looked at me.
I pat his shoulder and said goodbye as I hurriedly got out of the shop, still looking like a red tomato from what just happened. It was just an ant. I thought to myself.
