"Big sis. Alphyria to big sis Artemis"
I suddenly snapped out of my sudden memory, glancing at Jackal who was waving his hands in the air like a maniac.
"What?" I answered so starkly.
"Nothing, you were just dazed for a moment there" he said with a shrug, leaping down the end of the cobblestone row and landing beside me. His cloak flapping in the wind as he did.
The little brat walked silently beside me with his hands behind his back like an innocent fool he was, eyes darting around as he came to his surroundings.
And surprisingly Homura was awfully quiet today.
Either way I didn't want to talk to him because he will begin blabbering again and then Jackal would want to know what he is saying, and I have literally have no mood at all to deal with them.
I Just want peace and quiet.
Jackal leaned his head to the side towards me and whispered softly "Why did we forget about Mr Turkey anyway?" Jackal questioned.
Mr Turkey is a nickname we gave Edmond, so that he wouldn't know we are talking about him since after all he is on our tracks and would be listening to our conversation and neither do I want him to realise that we know he is following us.
It would just ruin the fun surprise I planned for him in the end.
Glancing at Jackal, I arched an eyebrow "You sure you want to use one of your questions?"
"Yeah, why not" he didn't even hesitate to think about it. I frowned, sweat dropping as my expression became blank.
Jackal looked at me with the same expression, his silver eyes gazing up at me as if I was an idiot. "You were expecting me to keep my questions so you wouldn't have to talk to me?" he hit me in the right spot.
I glanced away from his gaze answering him, bluntly. "No".
He blinked in disbelief.
"Anyway" I shrugged avoiding anymore of his annoying remarks about me. "The only reason why we hadn't exposed Mr Turkey is because I'm curious"
"Curious about what?"
"That's two questions." I pulled up a peace sign at him indicating his second question. His face pulled back and he pouted, and his cheeks flushed with annoyance.
"I'll figure that myself then" He crossed his arms and marched on beside me.
"Though that may not be all the reasons to why."
"Would do you mean?" He asked.
"Mr Turkey is one of the greatest trackers in Alphyria" I answered softly, looking from side to side as I scanned the area without moving my head so I wouldn't seem suspicious. Jackal was puzzled, arching an eyebrow in confusion. He didn't seem to know anything about Edmond the douche bag at all except for the fact he is the second prince of Terra.
"Not as a great as a fox" Homura chirped in so suddenly, his blazing ambers eyes shone like autumn leaves as he praised himself.
I rolled my eyes.
"What did he say?" Jackal questioned; his silver eyes shooting up with curiosity.
"Nothing" I answered.
Jackal frowned and Homura chuckled lightly to himself as it was an amusement thing for him to entertain the snarky fox.
"Mr Turkey would find us no matter how far he is or what I would do to him. You can't contain a wild animal in cage for long".
Edmond is the stubborn kind. Even if I tied him to a tree he would get out and chase after me again. I escaped his grasp 3 times in one month without a scratch. Mostly explains how dumb he is with trying to keep prisoners in his hands for more than a few seconds.
That's why we nicknamed him Mr Turkey because turkeys are dumb and to mention stupid. I remember when I was a kid, my parents took me and Daisuke to a petting zoo. I saw a turkey there and instead of being with his fellow turkey members he was following around a flock of baby sheeps. All his feathers puffed out as if he was trying to impress the sheep with his awesome feathery colours.
Dumb bird thought it was a sheep.
The image of a turkey came to mind, but his head was not of a turkey but of Edmond. 'Edmond the turkey. Hah makes me want to laugh'
But putting all the turkey thing aside, the reason I didn't acknowledge is presence is because I'm curious on why his on our tail, all alone without a member of his minions behind him like before when he encountered us in Taivas.
Furthermore, not once has he tried to capture us but followed quietly without getting himself caught. Well, he did but the point is he believes he hadn't, and we are going to keep it that way.
Jackal made those thinking noises, coking his head side to side with his hand pinching his chin as he scrambled through his thoughts.
'Is my words that difficult for him to understand?' I huffed, tracing the locks of silver hair away from my face.
"Not if his dead, he wouldn't" Homura added with a grumble.
I looked down to the right side of me where the black and orange fluff ball was prancing beside me as he kept pace. Analysing his expression and how his amber eyes were fixated on the path in front of us, I concluded that he was pissed.
For what reason?
Well probably because we didn't get to kick Edmonds butt, that's probably why.
'Maybe next time Homura.'
We continued on our tracks silently, no one uttered another word while I continued to look at the map in my hands.
According to the map I had copied down, we are currently in the Nervrina Forest which mostly surrounds the Taivas empire like a wall. Last night we had stayed in a town called Prina. Which is one of the only few towns mentioned on the map, maybe because it's an important town. I don't know and I don't care.
Going further West, I land upon another forest but that's like an estimate of 40 miles from Prina. It would take mostly less than a day to reach the end of this forest, but I hope I don't stumble upon a dark forest like last time.
Just the thought of something horrifying waiting in the darkest parts of it sent a jolt of shiver up my spine and it brought a little fear inside my mind. Immediately I shook the fear away. I can't let such fear take over me.
I'm a fighter, an Assassin. I can take whatever comes at me.....
Well, some things. But the point is I can try that's only if it's not some giant tentacle beast.
I came to look up to the forest when I heard soft splashing of water that drizzled continuously like a watering stream. I closed my eyes and listened to the music of the water.
At first the sounds of chirping tweets of birds was audible then the leaves sang like twinkling bells against the soft breeze but when listened closely, I could hear it again.
"Brat do you hear that?" I said softly as I listened to the faint sounds of the water hitting against the rocks. It was like I was listening to relaxing music and my body felt so light and relaxed.
"It's a waterfall"
