I glanced from behind at the little boy whose hood had draped over his head to hide his identity from everyone. His hand had taken a hold of my wrist with a firm grip as he pulled me towards the only getaway entrance.
I was baffled, in a situation like this my mind went blank for the first time. 'This little boy, what is he thinking getting himself involved in this matter when he could run and avoid everything. Tch, I won't take responsibility for you if something were to happen'
Nevertheless, I followed his command and ran, following his lead as he pulled my hand.
"DON'T LET HER ESCAPE!" Edmond bark of order made the cloak figures step in to make the gaps between them unescapable.
But it was too late for them to block our exit as Homura, the little boy and I ran past them, dodging their hands from grabbing a hold of any of us, Homura had leaped away as one dived in to catch him. "HAHAH suck on my tail, you overgrown sac of dog shit" Homura chuckled and mocked at the cloaked finger that stumbled back up.
The thief had let go of my hand the moment we escaped through the circle of Assassins that surrounded us "follow me. I know these streets and hidden alley way more than anyone" he explain with a soft tone as we ran into the scurrying crowd that ran for the lives and for some unknown reason the boy had made sure to stay beside me so he wouldn't lose me in the wailing crowd of people.
"No, we don't need your help. Artemis always knows what to do with these brainless humans" Homura said proudly, his little fox body ran between each person's legs, going under or around making sure he wasn't kicked by one.
I smirked at his comment 'Aww thanks Homura. That still doesn't guarantee the fact I will drop you kick you, though'
"Thanks kid but I'm 100% sure I can lose them with or without your help" I told him. I glanced down at the thief who was able to keep up with me but further examination I can see this amount of speed is not his usual and he was going to run out of stamina very soon. Either way I'm impressed he could force his legs to run fast like me.
I dodged past a woman and her kid that came in my way, sliding to the left before continuing to ran after Homura and the thief.
The natural light had made it clear for me to see his disbelief facial expression and those silver eyes that glanced at me as if I was being dumb or I was just naturally dumb.
"GET HER AND THAT LYING THIEF" Edmond's voice was just audible against the bustling of the people that ran as if their lives were in trouble. I didn't look back to see if they are running after me as I already knew they would.
"Oh shit" the little thief boy squeaked as he peeked his head back, he forced himself to run faster.
I gave him a side glance "Your really are a fool" I told him following him to the corner of the street.
"What are you implying lady?" he said with a puff.
"You shouldn't mess with people who look dodgy, especially those guys" I explained to him as we seeming ran through a deserted pathway with people walking beside it.
"I didn't steal anything from them. They offered to give me a handsome amount of money for information regarding on you" he said eyeing me up and down with a playful grin cross his face.
I sweat dropped at what he said, scanning his mischievous expression I don't think he is telling me the full details of what kind of information he provided the douchebags and his dogs. "And judging by you're the way you present yourself, I think you sent them on a wild goose chase with no goose"
Those light silvers reflected how the cheekiness of his personality and how impressed he was with my analytical skills. The corner of his lips perched to a side grin. "They wanted to know if an Isvandy was here in Taivas, and I answered them truthfully however they never specified if they wanted to know exactly where you were. Gives them a good reason never to cross past a thief like me"
"heheh, I like the way this human brat thinks" Homura said from beside him. I didn't respond to him but continued to gaze at the boy, staring blankly at the little thief who was too smart for his own good.
"How are you still alive and not dead?" I said sarcastically.
"I get by" he shrugged before leaping over a crate which didn't surprise me at all.
"I can totally see that" I sighed.
"Who are they even and why are they after you? Don't tell you also stole something from them to piss them off" he said with a hint of gleam in his eyes as if he found his long lost idle. I looked away with a deadpan expression.
"For your information kid, I don't steal unless my life is on the line and second the person, we, well you in general fucked with is the prince from Terra" I explained to him, I gave him a side glance. His mouth was wide opened that even a bug could fly in and choke him, he was in complete shock as the colour on his face started to drain.
The kid slowly turned his head back to take another peek, his silver eyes beginning to shake in fear. I could read what he was thinking just by the expression he was pulling. 'He fucked big time'
"I fucked up" he mumbled.
"Huh that's his problem not ours" Homura ridiculed with a chuckle of his fox laughter.
I quickly stole a glance from behind, I nearly tripped over my words from last time. These spades were far more elite and faster than the ones from Argentum. They were quick on their feet, and they were swiftly catching up to us.
Each one swiftly and gracefully dodging each person, leaping over carriages that or wagons past them. They were like elite ninjas or something.
Damon must have assigned his best assassins after me. 'That fucking bastard what is trying to pull, I'm already having a hard time dealing with Edmond why do I need to deal with this shit. Whatever it's not like they can compare to my skills'
With my original body I would have gone faster but this one is yet still too weak and fragile. Fuck is just pissing me off right now.
An incoming wagon had made me move to the side, splitting me from Homura and the thief and resulting me to get blocked by a few crates stacked up and a stall that was being set up by a few people dressed in the regular common attire of the Middle Ages.
'Tch' I clicked my tongue in annoyance. Without any hesitation I jumped up, stepping on the man's back who he was bending over to pick up a wooden crate and giving myself enough force to leap into the air, flipping forward into a swirl over the crates before landing silently on the dirt ground.
I didn't take a glance back and ran after the thief and Homura.
"Woah" the glimmer of amazement that the boy pulled, his mouth widening into a huge o shaped form while he stared at me.
"How did you do that?" he said.
"Don't ask any quest-" I felt an incoming hot attack, dodging to the side with a near miss of a fireball I looked back to see one of the mask men creating another ball of fire with his hand.
"That was dangerously close" the thief said also glancing back. "Who knew one of them was from Drakon" he said.
I scowled in frustration.
"Fire. I hate fire" Homura gulped. "First, metal humans, fox eating dragons, a wrinkly human, bad man cave and now people who throw fireballs at us. What's next earth spikes?"
'Homura, don't you dare jinx it' I sent him a hostile glare that he didn't even see.
I scanned our surroundings for any way we can lose them. "Oi kid you said you know Taivas better than anyone"
"Yeah" he said with a puff of breath. It seems like this is getting over his average limit of running especially with the speed we are going, and I too could feel my lungs getting heavy.
With a grin forming in the corner of his lips, the thief said "The one and only person"
"Tch no need to brag about it. We get it" Homura grumbles loudly.
An incoming wagon crossed our paths, Homura ran under nonchalantly while the thief and I slid under it as if we have been doing it for a long time.
"That was cool" he said glancing over with an excited look.
"Yeah whatever" I answered bluntly.
"Which way now?" I asked. I don't know why I'm running away when I could take those assassins single handedly. Maybe because the thief took off in a run with me in his hand and I just followed him without thinking.
Oh well I guess we'll just lose them in a chase then fight and cause more of a ruckus.
His gaze was firm, and the thief expression pulled into a stern look, he was thinking of something.
"Taivas is like a Labyrinth but without any dead ends. Wherever you turn you will end up in a different route or alleyway, sometimes you will turn yourself into the same alley way you just left."
"Which gives us an advantage to lose them in a chase" I continued.
He nodded his head, giving me a side glance and the same cheeky smile as before. A brow of mine lifted and I glanced at the thief who looked like he won something "Explains how the knights in Taivas have trouble trying catching you" I said.
He snickered a little laugh.
"They didn't memorise the whole map if Taivas and its routes, even the secret tunnels that were created 500 years ago in order to escape the monsters that used to reside here"
I examined his expression; it was readable, and I could tell what was going through his head
"And your thinking of using those tunnels to confuse them?" saying that I saw his face glint and his silver eyes glow for a second.
I was impressed with this kid's tactical knowledge.
"Jackpot"
"Finally, something this human brat had said" Homura said with an eye roll.
I never follow anyone but myself or master however this time I will let this kid do the leading.
"Take the lead kid"
~Lykos P.O.V~
"You haven't been yourself lately" I side glanced over to the silver head who leaned against the wall with his hands crossed right beside me, the usual shimmering silver eyes I thought I would never see again had come back to light, the colour on his face returned and he was seen in a really good mood lately.
"Your eyes are just playing tricks on you" I said with a huff, raising my head to look at the marble decorated ceiling so I would avoid the eye contact that was burning my skin.
"I have keen eyes, Lykos. I know something is wrong when I see it" he said stubbornly. "You haven't argued with any of the knights lately but giving them a blind eye to their slacking behaviour." He started with his annoying motherly lecture.
"You have been dazing off to somewhere else when someone talks to you neither have you been paying attention to any of the meetings. You just stand in the corner, leaning against the wall with the angry pissed off expression" he continued.
As I listened to him there was a sudden ach in my chest 'Neither would he join you to find the crystal that doesn't concern him anymore then to die because of your stupidity.'
That's what she said, and I remember clearly that the female voice said something about Neil's death.
I stole him a quick glance and I felt something sting my eyes. 'Is Neil going to die? No. He can't. his safe here in the palace of Ventus. So why was she speaking as if he was supposed to die and if was why wasn't I there to prevent it? fuck'
"Lykos. Lykos. What's wrong?" I snapped out of my daze and stared at the silver head prince who eyed me worriedly.
"Nothing I was just thinking how I'm going to kick you out of this room" I quickly changed my attention around from his and changing the thought away. I didn't need to look at him to know the air around him started to become distressful filled with disbelief and worried.
I know Neil. He was someone to worry about the people around him, he would leave it first until the person is comfortable enough to speak about it but if they don't, he will take in his own hands.
But...
'It's one after another. I can't get a damn little peace anywhere I go. Stress and worry.'
I bit the bottom of my lip, just the thought is giving me paranoia. I don't feel assured to leave Neil's side out of fear something is going to happen if I'm not around.
A faint sigh came from Neil, he shuffled his silver hair before slumping his head against the hard white wall.
"You're such a pain in the ass to get any answers from you. You know that right?" he said, I gave him a blank side glance.
"Yes, because some information are just irrelevant for the world to know" I answered.
"I know there is something wrong and you're not willing to tell me, and I get it but keeping it to yourself isn't going to get you far. In the end you're just going to be slumped in the corner of the room miserably" Neil explained, his silver eyes averted to the window, gazing at the clouds that past by. "Either way Lykos. If your ready to say whatever is going through your head, I'll be in the library or with Ben" he placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled a warm smile that reminded me of his mothers.
"Yeah whatever" I shrugged his hand away and he let a light chuckle shaking his head. I could see how happy his been lately ever since Ben recovered. It's good to see him as himself again not the droopy and moody Neil from before.
"Hey Neil" my mouth suddenly spoke on it's own, the sudden feeling of seeing him like this must have sparked my mouth to act on it's own.
"Yes" he answered titling his head and crossing his hands. My red eyes traced down to my feet and I placed my hands in my pockets.
"Do you remember what Bedelia said yesterday?" forget about what I thought earlier maybe we can figure about what's going on with the that mysterious old lady named Alethia that saved Ben.
Neil looked over at me with eyes that had held the world within in it, he stood not far from me. "I remember. She said something about Alethia being in disguise"
"What do you think?" I asked.
Neil's eyes averted up; he took a long breath. His chest rose up and an outline of his broad shoulder, well-built body, and arms. Anyone who sees him would know how well trained he is and how packed he is.
No wonder women are prohibited for entering the training grounds. To many shirtless men with well built bodies training. I remember a maid accidently stumbled her way in and coincidently me and Neil were sparring with our blades shirtless.
She was found on the floor with a bloody nose and red face.
No wonder so many girls fall for him. Handsome guy, intelligent, perfect body, and a crown prince and not so shitty personality as mine.
I don't care though saves me the trouble of dealing with annoying girls. He can have them all for himself I rather live by myself with Cyrus.
"I think Bedelia may be on to something. I've seen many old ladies in my lifetime, and none held themselves so high and young like Alethia did and her voice was rather young and sharp and her eyes..." there was complete silent as he stared up at the ceiling.
It was quite for a moment, reading his expression he was thinking yet I didn't know what. 'I wish I could read minds'
I was caught off guard when immediately Neil's silver eyes widened. I rose an eyebrow in interest at what had this air head had thought of.
He looked at me wide eyed as is he just seen someone turn in a dragon.
"I thought she was familiar" he mumbled.
"Who? The old lady?" I asked baffled, titling my head a little.
"Yes." He said shooting up, "Do you know of Diana" Neil said pointing his finger at me.
'Diana?'
I stared blankly at him. I didn't know who he was talking about.
He also stared at me but looked rather annoyed that I didn't know what he was talking about.
"Diana Glacies, the eldest daughter of the grand duke of Aureum and the former Duchess of Isvand and Aureum, Mariana Lancaster" he explained.
I knew who they were. That old man who thinks he is a better dragon rider than I am, someone who can't get a hold of himself and fucks around in brothel's behind his wife's back and Mariana the woman who was rumoured to be the golden ice princess of Isvand. A beautiful woman with a gold heart that even the goddess envied.
Yet I don't know who Diana is. Who is? Have I met her before?
I can't rack my brain on who this woman is.
I shrugged in response and Neil went dead panned on me. A long-frustrated sigh escaped his lips and he rubbed his temples. "She's that bratty spoilt girl that clings to the crown prince of Aureum, Damon. At every banquet we were invited to in Aureum"
I stared at him with a clueless face and eyes that stared back empty.
"Your so clueless" he said this time pinching the bridge of his nose.
"No, I just don't pay attention to the aristocrats in other Kingdoms especially ones who overly obsessed themselves with princes" I said with a grumble, moving the spikey red hair away from my right eye.
Neil ruffled the back of his head, face pulling into a tight thinking expression.
"Don't think too hard you might get intense constipation" I said sarcastically as I approached a nearby table and grabbed a decorated cup filled with black tea and took a sip, my red flaming eyes still on the air head that was busy thinking.
"The girl" he said clicking his fingers.
"This still about Diana?" I said lazily and blankly staring, taking about of a macaron then a sip of black tea while I did.
"Yes, it is." He nodded his head. "Remember the white-haired girl who locked her arm with your arm and tried to flirt with you shamelessly at the royal ball of Ventus 2 years ago" Neil continued to explain.
I stood there motionless trying to remember a specific white hair woman but the only person I can think of is no one. I can't remember a white-haired girl trying to flirt with me or grab my arm for that matter.
I think I'm worse than that dumb prince from Terra. What's his name again. Eddy, Edgar, Eddison, I don't fucking remember.
Taking the tea pot, I poured in more "I don't pay attention to peoples faces except for their clothes" I said.
Neil clicked his fingers again "That's it." the air head looked at with a smirk. "the white-haired woman who wore the most dreadful dress that looked like my grandmothers grand birthday cake and she had trouble walking in it"
Leaning against the white stones table with a hand resting back I blinked, staring directly into his desperate looking eyes that hoped for me to remember.
'Diana and her frost cake dress? Hmmm-' I rose forward when I realised who we were talking about.
"Thee Diana Glacies?"
