"Come on, let's go back inside, it's getting cold out here" he said, holding out his hand from me to take.

"Mhm" I nodded, as we walked back inside hand in hand.

"Lia, I'm sorry for what I said, you're right I shouldn't say those things, and I wanted to apologise for it" my dad said, as we walked into the main lounge, with my dad's men all just staring at us.

"It's fine dad, I'm sorry too" I said.

"What are you two doing?" my dad said, pointing to our intertwined hands.

"Oh um oops" I said, letting go of his hand.

Suddenly there was a knock at the front door.

"Who could it be at this hour?" I asked, as we turned to face the door.

"I have no clue" my dad said, as he walked over to the front door.

"Did you invite anyone, and you forgot Lia?" Elias asked me.

"I'm not that dumb Elias" I said, crossing my arms and narrowing my eyes at him.

"Just making sure" Elias said, as my dad slowly opened the door.

"And plus don't you have men all over the house?" Matteo asked me.

"Yeah, obviously we do" I replied.

"Dad, who is it?" I asked.

I could see my dad frozen in place, he wasn't moving, if it weren't for the silence, I would've said he stopped breathing too but the silence was so loud that I could hear his breathing, his breathing started increasing second by second, as he took a step back from the door and let whoever was at the door inside our home. I tried to see who it was, but my dad made it quite impossible to do so, because of his height. I walked over to my father, and Matteo kept close behind me as I made it over to the door.

"Dad, who is it?" I asked, as an old woman stood at the door.

"Who's she?" Matteo asked me.

"I'm as clueless as you are" I replied.

"M-mum?" my dad mumbled.

"MUM!?" I yelled.

"That's your grandmother then" Matteo said.

"No shit Sherlock! But you said, you had no remaining family except for me" I said to my father.

"You must be Lia, my granddaughter" the woman spoke.

"H-hi" I stuttered.

"What are you doing here mum?" my dad asked.

"I brought someone with me, to see you" the woman said, as another person walked into the doorway.

No...

How...?

This is a dream...

It had to be...

This isn't real, I'm dreaming...

I must be...

How could my mother be standing in the doorway of our house...?

"Who's she?" Matteo asked.

I could feel my knees shaking, my hands trembling, tears rolled down my cheeks, it felt like my heart just dropped to my feet. Like everything stopped, like time just stopped and it was just me staring at my mother, my mother that was once dead was now standing in our front door. How? How is this even possible? She was dead. I watched her die. I saw her close her eyes as she told me she loved me one last time. I was at her funeral; we all were. So, how is this even real? Am I dreaming? Has my mind got the best of me? Is it playing some sick joke on me?

"M-m-mum?" I stuttered.

When I finally spoke, it felt as if the earth swallowed me whole.

"What? But you said your mother was dead" Matteo said.

"She was, at least that's what we all thought" I said.

"How are you r-real?" my dad stuttered, as tears rolled down his cheeks and stained his new suit.

"H-hey" my mum stuttered, as she stepped closer to my father.

"B-but, you d-died" I stuttered.

"Actually she didn't" my dad's mother said.

"What?" I asked.

"I never died fifteen years ago..." my mother said.

Fifteen years ago...

"Is that a d-dead body?" Anna said.

"O-oh m-my god..." Anna said, as she fell to her knees realising who she was.

"E-Ella... w-wake up... p-please" Anna said, with tears in her eyes.

Anna checked Ella's pulse, it was faint, but it was there, Ella could still have a chance. So Anna took her back to her house, she helped her, cleaned her wound, stitched her up and let her rest and called a family doctor.

"She's in a coma, I'm sorry" the doctor told Anna.

"C-coma?" Anna asked, in utter shock.

"I'm sorry" the doctor said, as he left Anna's house.

So Anna waited, days, weeks, months, years.

Several years had passed.

Fourteen years passed, and it was another normal day for Anna, wake up, check on Ella and go on about her regular day, hoping and praying that Ella wakes up. Anna walked over to Ella's room as usual and walked in slowly when she froze in place.

Ella was awake.

She was sitting up, awake, on her bed.

"Y-you're actually a-awake" Anna spoke, feet shaking and hands trembling.

"Y-you're Dante's mother" Ella said, rubbing her eyes.

"Y-yes, I am" Anna said, stepping closer to Ella's bed.

"H-how am I alive?" Ella asked.

"I found you on the street bleeding out from your back. I checked your pulse, it was faint, but you had one. You had a chance to live, so I took you back home and called a doctor and he told me you were in a coma" Anna explained, sitting down beside Ella.

"LIA! Where is she!? Where's my baby girl!?" Ella said.

"Baby? Ella you've been in a coma for fourteen years now, I don't think Lia is a baby anymore" Anna said.

"F-fourteen y-years? F-fourteen?" Ella stuttered, as Anna took her into her arms and Ella cried for what felt like hours.

"It's okay, we can go back and see them right now if you want" Anna said.

"Y-yes, p-please" Ella stuttered, as she stood up. But as she stood up, she collapsed to the floor.

"ELLA! Are you okay?" Anna asked her.

"I don't r-remember how to w-walk" Ella said, as she pulled herself to her knees.

"W-what?" Anna asked, in shock.

"I don't remember how to walk" Ella repeated as her eyes welled up with tears again.

"It's okay, I'll teach you, I promise you. I'll teach you everything you forgot how to do, even if it takes, weeks, months, or even a whole year. I promise I'm not going to leave your side Ella" Anna said, as she went down on her knees and hugged her.

Present

"So, I took care of her for another year until she could do everything she forgot how to do" Anna said.

"You kept her!? I thought she was dead! I thought she left me! I thought I lost her! Whilst you fucking had her all along! You could've fucking told me! You could've called! Or sent out a message! Or a letter! Or anything! Anything! At least I would've known she was alive!" my dad yelled.

He was furious, I have never seen him this angry before, not even when he found out that Marco had killed her. He was mad that she kept her away from him- from us. And so was I. I thought I lost my mother. That it was my fault because I brought her to her death. But she has been alive for a whole year, alive and we had no clue of it.

"I hate you!" I yelled at my grandmother.

"You kept her away from us, you could've at least told us that she had hope! That she wasn't actually dead! That we had hope that my mother was still alive! That I hadn't have to blame myself for fifteen long years! That I hadn't had to cry myself to sleep every night without my mother! That I hadn't had to pretend that I was fine when I was dying slowly inside! Do you fucking know what it felt like!? I had fifteen long years with no one who gave a single fuck about me! Because dad was always fucking drinking his sorrows away, Uncle Alessandro was taking care of the mafia, so it wouldn't fall apart, Elias was too young to understand, and Aunt Camilla was always taking of Elias. So I had no one! I had no one who cared about me or cared about how I was feeling! When my mother died, our whole family fucking fell apart, without her, we all fell apart. So, yes, I fucking hate you! And I will hate you till my last breath on this damned earth!" I screamed, as tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Lia, my poor baby" my mum said, as she pulled me into her embrace.

"M-mamma" I said, with a breaking voice.

"I promise I'm right here" my mum said, as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"E-Ella" my dad said, as he hugged my mum.

"Hey toi idiot" my mum said, as she hugged my dad back. (you idiot)

"I told you everything was going to be okay" Matteo said, hugging me from behind.

"Yeah, I guess you were right" I said, with a smile as my mum stared at us.

"Who's he?" my mum said, with a smirk as she winked at me.

"This is Matteo, my partner" I said.

"So, not boyfriend?" my mum asked with a pout.

"No!" I said.

"Not yet" Matteo said, making my cheeks flush red.

"Whatever, mum, wait here, I need to give you something back!" I said, as I ran to my room.

"Where's she going?" I heard my mum ask as I rushed upstairs.

After a minute I ran back down to the main lounge to find everyone still there.

"I think this belongs to you mamma" I said, holding out my closed fist to her.

"Um, what's in it?" my mum asked.

"Open my hand and find out" I said, with a huge grin on my face.

"Okay?" my mum said, as she opened my closed fist and her mouth fell open.

"You still kept my necklace?" she asked.

"Of course I did, dad and I never took it off, and we kept yours safe. But now you should have it and wear it so we could be together forever and always" I said.

"Thank you" my mum said, with a smile on her face as she took her necklace and put it around her neck, and touched it.

Cara mia...
