3rd POV Marley thought about the words Demitri had spoken to her.
She felt as if she had realized something she hadn't before.
Marley was uneasy however at the possible freling of her emotions. If it was love or at least in that same category then Marley would surely be in trouble.
Not only were the three queens but they were all three mates.
Marley knew that the three were mates. Ambree enjoyed telling her the tales of the warewolf belief in a soul partner.
Marley never really understood but then again she was a different supernatural so she didn't understand what mates really were except that they typically involved love between partners.
Marley wanted desperately to get rid of these feelings.
No
she couldn't love them.
They were queens, and she was not.
They were mates and she was not.
She thought back to Demitri's words. Still confused by them, she recalled what she had said.
'I promise to explain everything soon, and you will no longer be confused'
What did she really mean?
Marley thought to herself the possibilities of the result to her words, though nothing rational came up.
With her inner turmoil the group made their way back to the palace.
Ambree had noticed the change in Marley but decided against asking while the three were present.
Once they reached the palace they all walked out of the carriages and went inside. At this time the sun began going down and the moon and stars lit up the night sky.
Marley made her way quickly to her room, she didn't say a word on her way up, which worried Ambree more.
Sure Marley was quiet to strangers but to Ambree she likes to talk, so she took her silence as a sign of unease.
Ambree decided after about 20 minutes of waiting to go and talk to her friend to try and clear the air, but once she got to her door their was a note nailed to the wooden frame.
I am out on a flight. I will return later if i I am needed.
Ambree furrowed her brows at the paper.
Marley always made it a priority to tell Ambree personally or at least leave a personal note to let the other know that she was going to go flying. Ambree and Marley had a close bond.
They were trusted friends, they knew everything about the other, including a change in behavior.
It was easy to see that Marley was upset.
Ambree decided to go and ask the three queens about it.
They were after all the cause of it, even if Ambree didn't know that.
She made her way to the North corridor where the royal wing was held.
She climbed the stairs to the largest chamber and knocked on the heavy wood door.
A shuffling noise could be heard, and Heather had opened the door.
She was surprised to see Ambree but let her in. Ambree thanked her and got to the point quickly.
"I don't know if any of you have noticed, but I think something is bothering Marley."
The three looked at each other and back to Ambree.
"What do you mean?" Lea asked
Ambree then explained what she saw and the change in behavior by Marley.
The three listened carefully to what Ambree said. She was making a good point and it made the three worried that they hadn't realized Marleys dilemma sooner.
Which made them think of Marley and Ambree being closer then before.
After all Ambree knew every detail about Marley, including her feelings.
Demitri sighed, she didn't know if she should ask Ambree about the two or not.
Though before she could ask anything Lea spoke up first.
"Can I ask you a question princess?"
Lea asked seriously.
She had also used formalities which showed Ambree that her question was one of importance. Ambree nodded her head for the other to continue.
"What is your relationship with Marley, in all honesty, what is she to you?"
Ambree studied Lea's face. She was clearly upset, but tried her best not to show it.
Ambree seemed to understand now,
"Me and Marleys relationship... we'll it's like a bond. One that can't be broken, but it's not the kind that you think. It's almost like family. I am one of the few who knows the full story of Marleys past and how she came to be. She puts her trust and faith in my hands, and I give her the same. We understand each other's thoughts and feelings, almost as if we were sisters. There is a connection but not in a romantic way, more of a family or a strong friendship. We would give up our lives for each other. That's the strength of it. But in the end of the day. I think of Marley as my family, nothing more and nothing less."
The three listened intently to what Ambree had to say, her words easing their doubting minds. Ambree explained why they would ask her that question, and in all honesty could see why they would see the two as something more, but she assured them that they weren't.
The four talked more and Ambree explained that Marley had told her about her feelings, to which the three responded excitedly too.
Ambree then discussed that it might be good for them to begin explaining to Marley what she was to them.
Marleys inner turmoil will eventually catch up to her and Ambree could tell the three were starting to get impatient.
"Are you sure she's ready?" Heather asked
"I don't know if she'll ever be ready, that's why you must do it soon before it gets worse." Ambree responded.
The three then thanked her as she left their room, and went back to hers.
Lea, Heather, and Demitri were silent.
No one knew what to say next.
Silence filled the air until a flash of orange caught their eyes.
Heather immediately remembered the time when she saw fire and it led her to Marley.
She explained to the three what she thought the fire could be from.
They then all simultaneously decided to go and find Marley.
The followed the fire, until it brought them to the outside of the palace gardens.
A place of beautiful flowers, trees and plants growing in every witch way.
They made their way through the plants and stopped abruptly when then saw her.
Marley was sitting on the ground, a circle of rose vines surrounded her.
In her hand was s flame burning brightly, covering her entire hand.
Marleys face was fixed on the flames in front of her. She had her warriors jacket on, and her wings were out.
They draped over her body and wrapped themselves protectively around her body.
Her white wings were glowing under the moonlight giving off an angelic effect.
Her face glowing a bright orange as the light of the fire reflected into it.
Her face was calm and she looked peaceful. Heather decided to make the first move she stepped closer to Marley, the other two following behind.
Marley must have sensed a presence because her fire got smaller and she moved her wings down a little to see her mysterious admirers.
And she smiled upon seeing the faces of her lovers.
