3rd POV Marley looked at the three. A small smile etching into her face. She got up quietly. The three watched her as she moved. Her wings draping over her body as she moved.
Marley got down onto one knee, her head bowed to the three.
"Greetings,"
Marley then looked up to the three,
"Your majesty's,"
Lea looked down at Marley, her eyes fixated on her wings. She remembered when Demitri had talked about them.
And she wasn't lying when she said that they were beautiful.
They looked powerful, as if they could blow the queens away, from where they stood.
Heather looked down and caught Marleys eyes. But this time it was different.
The last time she encountered Marley like this, the girl had refused to meet her eyes, but now.
Now it was different.
She looked up at the three a new look in her eyes.
Though Heather couldn't tell what it was. Demitri was the first of the three to speak up.
"Ambree came and talked to us, she said that you seemed upset, are you alright?"
"Yes, your majesty, I am alright."
Demitri frowned, she didn't really like the way Marley was saying your majesty.
In her eyes they were equal, and Marley didn't need to give them formalities.
"Can-can I ask you a question Marley?"
This time Heather spoke.
Marley nodded and patted the ground next to her for the three to sit and join her.
They gladly took her invitation and sat on the ground next to her.
The group now sat in a sort of circle. As Marley went to put her wings back, Lea said,
"If you want you can leave them out," Lea was gesturing towards Marleys wings.
"Are you sure, they are not bothering you your majesty?"
Marley asked
Lea shook her head,
" I think there quite nice, they bring a comfort to me, make me feel protected."
Upon hearing her answer Marley then put her right wing and wrapped it around Lea, just barely touching her skin, but it gave off warmth and Lea felt content.
Her left wing staying close to her side. Marley then put her attention to Heather who had yet to ask her question.
"What is your question, your majesty"
Heather too did not like that Marley used such formalities with the three, though she understood why she used them, she just didn't like her mate seeing them as unequal.
"Have you heard of mates?"
Marley paused for a second, the question caught her highly off guard.
She wondered why the queen would ask her that question so suddenly,
What is their meaning for coming to me on this night, especially after today,
Marley thought.
"Yes your majesty, my princess has told me all about mates, is there any reason as to why you ask?"
Heather almost had to restrain Railyn in her head, when Marley called Ambree her princess.
Once she was able to get her wolf under control she asked another question.
"Can you tell me what you know?"
Marley furrowed her brows slightly, the queen had not answered her question, instead she just asked another.
But she responded none the less.
"Well I know that mates stem from the belief in soulmates, a partner or partners created specifically for each other, a perfect match if you will. Ambree explained the importance of mates, and how the other supernaturals can sense their mates,"
"What about fae's can you sense mates?"
Demitri had asked the question this time.
"I do not know, in history fae's have had fated partners, all except dragons."
"What do you mean?"
"There has never been a dragon to have a mate, so I would not know if dragons can sense mates or not, we can't depict scents like wolves can, so I would not be able to tell if someone was my mate by their scent. Nor would I know by looking at them, otherwise I would have found them by now,"
Lea nodded her head, understanding what Marley was talking about, though Heather decided to ask a bolder question.
"What if you have already met your mates?"
Marley looked at Heather, her eyes filled with a sense of curiosity.
Marley thought about the question, she got confused further so she asked,
"I do not know if I would've known or not, why do ask, your majesty?"
Heather looked at her two wives, all three sharing a knowing glance.
The act didn't go unnoticed by Marley, but she shrugged it off.
"Marley, what do you know about love?"
Lea had asked the question this time. Marley almost gasped at the question. Her mind wandering to different reasons of where this conversation was going.
She wondered what sparked their curiosity, and weather it had something to do with her own emotions.
"Love? Well I believe it is like a bond, an understanding of someone that no one else gets but you. A bringing of happiness,"
"Have you ever loved anyone Marley?" Demitri's question once again catching Marley off guard.
"Well I loved my family, and in a way I love Ambree, I think of her as a sister, so I feel a love for her like I did with my real family,"
Marley responded not really understanding why they were asking her these questions.
"Have you ever been in love with someone... romantically?"
Marley widened her eyes this time at Heathers question.
The queen then looked over at Marley, a serious expression on her unusually relaxed face. Almost frightening Marley, as the four sat there under the bright moonlight.
"I-I, no I have never been In love with someone romantically, I do not think I have ever felt anything but a family type of love for anyone I am close to."
Marleys confusion continued to spiral as she caught sight of the three smiling when she gave them her answer.
"Why do ask your majesty?"
Marley had asked again. But instead of getting an answer she was faced with another question,
"What would you do if you found out that someone was in love with you.... Romantically?"
Lea had asked from her right.
Marley found herself getting upset. The three were obviously avoiding her question, and the questions they were asking her, began to get strangely specific.
"I-umm, I do not really know how I would react, I suppose surprised probably, why?"
Marley had tried to ask again, wondering why they were avoiding her question with more questions.
"Marley, what would you do if you found out you had mates?"
Heather asked her voice was stern and serious.
Marley looked up at the queen, a cautious look taking over her face.
The question was beginning to ring bells in Marleys head, she didn't know where this conversation was going, but she was getting slightly scared.
"Like I've said before, I am unaware of how I would react, I suppose shocked or confused,"
Marley then looked at all three, eyeing each woman individually.
"Why do you ask?" Marley asked her question for a 5th time.
"Because Marlene....."
Heather paused for about 3 seconds before continuing.
"We are your mates."
