As the due date got even closer everyone was on edge. Jiang Yanwei was excited to become a father but his worries for his wife's safety were very high, and it was very evident from his haggard face and the lack of sleep at night. Tang Shushui's mother Chu Fang was also very worried and excited. She was happy that his son's family was growing but he was also worried about her son's safety. The kids didn't know about all of this and were just excited that there would be a new baby in the family. Haohao also stopped going to the restaurant to stay and take care of his best friend. So as his due date approached Tang Shushui was treated like a queen.

"Baby?" Tang Shushui who was currently getting a foot massage from Yanwei called out gently.

"Yes, honey?" Jiang Yanwei responded gently.

"You don't have to be so on edge. I promise I'll be fine, and live with you and our child for a very long time." Tang Shushui said reassuringly, feeling the hands on his feet stiffen.

"Did you notice? I am sorry for making you worry, you already have so much on your plate," Jiang Yanwei apologized.

"Why are you apologizing? You're my husband so it's only right I share your worries. So tell me why are you so worried about me going into labor?" Tang Shushui said as he pulled Jiang Yanwei into his embrace.

"Well I was talking to a physician, and he said for someone carrying one child, your belly is unusually big, so it's either that the child is over nourished making it a bit chubbier, which would give you a painful and hard delivery, or it might be a disease." Jiang Yanwei muffled into Tang Shushui's neck.

"I'll be fine baby, that's one thing I am sure of okay?" Tang Shushui said as he pecked Jiang Yanwei's lips.

"I love you," Jiang Yanwei confessed as he kissed back.

"I love you too," Tang Shushui responded.

"Also baby..." Tang Shushui whispered.

"Yes?" Jiang Yanwei responded.

"My water just broke," Tang Shushui said quietly.

"WHAT?!" Jiang Yanwei said as he jumped off the bed.

"Chill baby, it's really not that serious," Tang Shushui said calmly before making his way to the labor room that was prepared for him beforehand, as Jiang Yanwei was running like a chicken with his head cut off. At the moment it seemed like Jiang Yanwei was the one going into labor and Tang Shushui was the responsible husband.

Because of Jiang Yanwei's screaming, everybody in the house knew that Tang Shushui had gone into labor, and in a matter of minutes, the house plunged into chaos. The two midwives were ushered into the labor room by Jiang Yanwei, and the labor had officially begun.

The family's ideals have been changed thanks to Tang Shushui, so they didn't really expect Jiang Yanwei to stay outside instead of accompanying his wife while he gave birth. The midwives we taken aback along with the servants but seeing that the family had no objections they remained silent.

Inside the labor room, Tang Shushui's pale face was covered with sweat, and he felt contractions after contraction. He was an assassin and had gotten stabbed or shot multiple times in his last life but none of it compared to the pain that he was currently feeling. He couldn't even bring himself to cry because all he could focus on was the excruciating pain that he was feeling.

{Do you need an epidural?}

Hearing the familiar yet strange voice echo in his mind, he felt taken aback for a second. This system of his never really did anything or talked to him. He only came out in dire situations. Such as when he first came, or when he first started his business but after that, it was like he just disappeared. But he was taken aback just for a little before his eyes practically shined at the word 'Epidural'.

In his last life when his wife went into labor, the moment she got to the hospital she asked for an epidural. She was in a lot of pain when she first came in but after she got the injection it seemed like she relaxed a lot and wasn't in as much pain as before. He barely knew anything in medicine but he knew that an epidural was like a life-saving grace for women in labor, so it seemed like it would be really helpful.

'Will it harm my baby?'

{No you just went into labor, and have not started dilating yet so there is no danger}

After hearing that there was no danger he gave his consent to getting the epidural. About a minute later he felt some pressure in his lower back and then felt his legs going numb. Little by little the excruciating pain was becoming lighter and he finally felt like he could breathe. Jiang Yanwei has been paying attention to his wife since the beginning so his wife was more relaxed than before.

"Honey, are you okay? Does it hurt a lot?" He asked worriedly as he wiped the sweat beads from his wife's forehead.

"It's manageable," Tang Shushui responded gently.

"Tell me if anything feels wrong okay?" Jiang Yanwei pleaded as he held Tang Shushui's hand, water swirling in his hazel eyes.

"I will," Tang Shushui responded gently.

"I know how you are with keeping your hurting to yourself, but I can't lose you. I just started living my life with you in it. A life where I can love you every day, I can't lose you, baby. How am I going to live without you? So please, I am begging you, the moment you feel something wrong immediately tell me okay?" Jiang Yanwei entreated, as he held back sobs.

"Don't cry honey, I've also just started living a life where I am loved and cherished, so I promise you that not even King Yama himself can drag me away from it," Tang Shushui assured wiping away Jiang Yanwei's tears.

No matter if he had an epidural or not when he started dilating to give birth the pain returned. And when he was pushing the pain was tenfold. Soon enough the house was filled with the screams of Tang Shushui and sobs from the distressed Jiang Yanwei.

After a stressful four hours, Tang Shushui finally gave birth to the child, which was a daughter. But the celebration was cut short as the midwives dropped shocking news that there was another child in Tang Shushui's belly. After hearing the news Jiang Yanwei was so shocked that he fainted, and the house once again plunged into chaos.

Jiang Yanwei woke up two hours later, just in time to see the birth of the second child, who was also a daughter. His eyes immediately reddened and went up to his wife to see if he was okay.

"Are you okay? Do you need anything?" Jiang Yanwei said worriedly.

"A little water please," Tang Shushui asked. Jiang Yanywei had to prepare some warm water in advance, so he poured some and fed it to Tang Shushui.

"So two daughters?" Jiang Yanwei asked in a daze.

"What? You're not ready for three daughters?" Tang Shushui joked.

"No! It's the best plus both of them look like you, so I am more than happy!" Jiang Yanwei responded earnestly.

"Baby the babies literally look like red monkeys with their wrinkled little faces, how do you know that they look like me?" Tang Shushui responded jokingly but the fondness and happiness in his voice couldn't be hidden.

"I don't want to interrupt you love birds but my Shui'er just gave birth, so he needs to clean up and then eat," Chu Fang said gently as walked into the room.

"Yes mother," Jiang Yanwei responded obediently. He wanted to be the one who took care of his wife but he didn't really have any experience plus his wife had just given birth to two kids, and he didn't want his careless care to put his wife in danger.

"Mom," Tang Shushui called out in a choked voice. To finally have such a caring mother in his life was truly a blessing.

"Why are you such a crybaby? Your brother never cried this much," Chu Fang said gently as she stroked Tang Shushui's hair.

"My brother?" Tang Shushui asked confused.

"The one that occupied the body you are now living in," Chu Fang responded gently.

"Y-y-you know? Then why are you still so nice to me?" Tang Shushui asked in shock as he trembled.

"Because you are my son," Chu Fang said firmly, hey eyes genuine. Seeing those genuine eyes made Tang Shushui cower. His thoughts towards her original son were so wrong yet... she was so welcoming towards him.

"When I first came into this body I hated my-" Tang Shushui said but paused, after taking a deep breath he continued, "brother for having everything I couldn't yet he treated them so recklessly. To me, he was dumb and ungrateful but I knew that not everything was his fault. I guess I just wanted someone to take out my pent-up anger on and my brother was the perfect victim. I am sorry."

"I get why my son does seem dumb to a lot of people but as his mother, I know that his passing was the fault of his weak mother, incompetent father, and heartless family. I knew from a young age that my son was a free-spirited person, someone who hated following rules, someone who had a lot of ideas, and someone who would not be able to live in this world. I was so scared of losing him that I tried to break his spirit at a young age, but I gave up on the first try seeing his tears, and that was my biggest mistake. He went on to do things his own way, and when he got involved with Wan Tian, I confined him at home and refused to let him go out, but the Tang family saw this as an opportunity to climb up branches and directly went against me. His incompetent father also agreed to this and even threatened to take away his rights as his mother. So I could only relent. But like I predicted Wan Tian deviated from my son and married someone else leaving my son's reputation tattered. I know that if I didn't marry him soon, Old Lady Tang would find an excuse to either harm him or kill him with the excuse of his reputation. So I came to plead to Jiang Yanwei. He agreed that he would marry my son and stay together as lifelong partners and wouldn't do anything that he didn't like, which is why I agreed to the marriage, but I didn't expect that the Tang family would go as far as drugging Jiang Yanwei, which cause the pregnancy. But JIang Yanwei didn't want to cause more drama and trouble for us so he took the blame instead of telling the truth. My son spiraled into depression and passed, and you took over his body," Chu Fang explained as she finished wiping down Tang Shushui.

"You know this whole time and still tolerated me," Tang Shushui sobbed.

"Of course I knew, I was his mother after all. I was also sad but I knew the gods weren't so unfair. They took away a son but they gifted me a new one. I mourned my son and I still do, but I also appreciate and love my other son." Chu Fand said warmly as she hugged Tang Shushui tightly.

"Mom!" Tang Shushui chocked out.

"Okay, stop crying you just gave birth you can't be stressed. I would feed you the chicken soup but I don't want to see a sulking Jiang Yanwei all day just because I fed you instead of him doing it so I'm going to leave to him," Chu Fang chuckled as she walked out
