(??? POV)

"Alright, are we ready for this?" Questioned Isamu.

"He's going to be leaving any moment." Baki stated. "We have to hurry."

"Yes, not long after his departure the fabric between the void and the world should be thin enough for us to quietly breach through." Akashi stated.

Isamu, Baki, and Akashi were three very good friends. I had known them for a long time, and we have been through thick and thin together.

And now, we were getting ready to end the fight which we started.

We felt wave of mana as he left the void for the first time in fifty years. Despite being in a separate part of the void, the power it took to open that rift was so large that we could feel it from here.

"He's gone through." Baki stated.

"Then let's hurry." Isamu nodded. "This is our final chance. We failed once, and we won't get another attempt."

"It's now or never." I stated.

"Alright, let's go over the plan one more time." Akashi stated. "We secretly create a rift while the intersection is still weak, before joining with whoever is fighting against Lupercio."

"You think someone will be fighting him?" Questioned Baki. "They likely don't know who Lupercio is. Until he reveals himself as the Demon King."

"There has to be at least one person who connected everything to him." Akashi argued. "Or else our world truly is screwed."

"I hope it isn't." I sighed.

"We can do this." Akashi stated. "Even if we have to do the ritual."

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." I replied, shaking my head. "I don't think I'd be able to..."

"It's our best shot if we can't group up with whoever's fighting Lupercio in our world." Akashi replied.

"As much as I hate to admit it, Akashi is right." Isamu sighed.

"We better get going." Baki stated. "If we don't start heading there now, the connection will become too strong."

"Right. Let's move." I stated.

We got out of our makeshift house which we had been using for the past fifty years. Hidden inside of one of these rocks, we used barrier and illusion magic to keep Lupercio from finding us.

If we didn't, we'd all be dead a long time ago. Whether it's from Lupercio or his monsters that float through the void.

We headed towards where we felt Lupercio exit through the rift. We avoided the monsters as we headed towards the exit. The monsters would only stall us, and we didn't have the time.

A couple minutes passed as we flew through the void, jumping from floating rock to rock as we got closer and closer.

Landing down on a rock, we were almost there. I could feel and see exactly where he had exited. I could see a rift.

A rift? But it should have collapsed when he went through?

"That's strange." Baki narrowed his eyes.

"Do you think it's a trap?" Isamu asked.

"No." Akashi shook his head. "I think it's the 'seal' that we created long ago."

"Seriously?" Baki questioned. "You know how rare the chances are of that, right? They need to find the seal and have a descendant from each of us."

"It's possible." Akashi replied.

And then something happened. Two people tumbled through the rift, unconscious. One was heavily injured, having a whole arm missing.

The other was the Demon King Lupercio.

The rift closed, leaving the two stranded here.

"Holy shit." Gasped Isamu.

"They did it. They actually sealed the Demon King once more..." Akashi muttered. "But the connection is still weak. It won't take long until he can get back through."

"Well, shit." I sighed. "And what about that guy? Who is he?"

"I don't know." Akashi replied, narrowing his eyes. "But he seems...young."

"Are you kidding me?" I asked, looking towards him with wide eyes. "How young?"

"About seventeen." Akashi stated.

"A seventeen year old? Did he use himself to push the Demon King through the rift...?" Gasped Isamu.

I felt my fists tighten. It reminded me too much of when I had gone against Lupercio. When I had lost almost everything.

The teenager's eyes snapped awake. He seemed unfocused as he gazed around. And then Lupercio woke up.

He let out a bellowing roar of rage before rushing towards the teenager and grabbing him by the neck.

"This isn't good..." Isamu muttered.

"We need to go help him." I stated. "He's not going to stand a chance."

"We can't." Baki stated, stopping me. "If we go now, we'll all die to him. We have to wait for the opportune moment."

"I agree." Akashi sighed. "As much as I hate to see a teenager get hurt, we have to wait for an opening or we all may perish. And if that happens, everything is over."

"...fine." I reluctantly replied.

I didn't like this. Who knows what Lupercio would do to him? Lupercio is furious at him, which means nothing good.

The talked a little bit, though I couldn't hear what they were saying. We were too far away, and being closer would risk being revealed. Isamu closed his eyes, listening in. He was the only one of us could hear them from here due to one of his tiers.

His eyes suddenly snapped open in wide surprise. "Holy shit." He muttered.

"What is it?" Baki questioned.

"He's...he's your grandson." Isamu shakily replied, looking towards me.

"He's a Kage?" I dumbly asked, completely surprised.

"Yes...the son of your daughter." Isamu stated.

"Oh my god...she survived..." I happily realized, keeping my sobs in.

Now wasn't the time. I wiped my eyes, paying attention to what was going on. They were now on a rock, with Lupercio standing above him.

"I don't like this." I growled. "We need to stop him."

"Just a little longer..." Baki replied, narrowing his eyes as he examined the scene.

And then Lupercio did something which made my heart go cold. He ripped out the teenager's eyeball, crushing it in his hand.

He was torturing a kid. A fucking SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD.

"We have to do something!" I hissed. "He's being tortured!"

"A little longer..." Baki replied.

"We don't have a little longer!" I growled. "Any longer and the kid will be dead!"

"Look, if we risk it now, we're risking the lives of millions, no, billions of people." Baki replied. "We can't afford to make this risk."

"How can you be so heartless?" I hissed.

"Kagami, calm down." Akashi nervously stated. "I don't like it either, but we can't risk it."

"That's my grandson!" I growled. "I'll be damned if I let him die!"

"I don't really like this..." Isamu stated. "Are we really going to let a kid die?"

"If we have to." Baki stated.

"Baki! He's my fucking grandson!" I yelled at him.

"I get that!" He growled. "I don't like it either. But if we don't wait for the opportune time, then we could cause the deaths of billions of people."

I got where Baki was coming from, but I couldn't agree with him. Not when a kid's life was on the line, not when it was grandson.

How could I just let him be tortured? What if the opportune moment doesn't arrive? Will we just leave the kid to die?

I turned back to watch what was happening. And my blood ran cold. Lupercio had his sword raised, ready to stab my grandson straight through the chest.

"Oh n-" Isamu stated.

Baki and Akashi looked away, ashamed.

"No!" I screamed, leaping off the rock and speeding towards them at high speeds.

"Kagami, wait!" Baki cried out, his eyes wide.

The sword sunk into my grandson's flesh. He coughed out blood and spit as his eyes slowly closed and his body went still.

Lupercio turned towards me with widened eyes as I got closer. Summoning my Arcana, I clashed the sword against his before kicking him away. He flew backwards, before using his wings to reorient himself in the air.

"So, you are still alive." He scoffed. "It's been so long I thought one of my monsters had picked you off by now or that you died under a rock somewhere."

"You should know that it's not that way to kill me." I replied.

"Yeah, you're an annoying cockroach." Lupercio sneered. "Unlike your wife."

"That was your own daughter!" I screamed at him in rage. "You killed your own daughter!"

"She stopped being my daughter the moment she fell for you." Lupercio growled. "Now I think it's time I finally got rid of you."

"Not so quick." Baki replied, appearing behind Lupercio.

Lupercio quickly dodged out of the way as Baki's trident barely missed him. Akashi jumped down, slamming a kick into Lupercio's side.

Lupercio was sent flying as Isamu jumped down and attempted to use his spear for a strike to the heart. Lupercio dodged it, grabbing the spear and shoving it into Isamu's stomach.

"Isamu!" Gasped Akashi.

"Damn it." Baki growled.

Isamu stepped backwards, the spear in his stomach. Lightning sparked around him as thunderous clouds started to appear high in the air.

Lupercio quickly dodged as multiple lightning bolts rained down from the heavens, striking the rocks.

We used this distraction with quickly get out of there. I picked up my grandson, fleeing with the others.

"Quick! Get rid of our tracks!" Baki desperately yelled to Akashi, carrying a weakened Isamu.

Akashi quickly drew a rune in the air. We passed through the rune, slightly glowing before it went away.

Lupercio's roar of rage blasted behind us, realizing that we had fled. We quickly kept moving.

Hopefully that rune of Akashi's could throw Lupercio off of our trail. We quickly arrived back at our makeshift home.

Akashi quickly wrote some more runes onto the stone of the rock before we went inside, entering our makeshift home.

I quickly set down my grandson onto our makeshift table, which was two rocks with a longer rectangular rock rested on them.

"You messed up." Baki groaned, moving Isamu over to a makeshift rock chair. "I need your help."

He pulled out the spear from Isamu. I quickly used my fire to cauterize the wound so that it wouldn't bleed anymore.

"What was I supposed to do?" I growled. "Just let my grandson die?"

"...I don't know." Baki quietly replied, looking away.

"Look, Lupercio now knows we are still alive and will be coming for us." Akashi stated. "This ends now."

"You're right." I nodded. "This is our final chance."

I walked over to my grandson. I moved my shaky hand towards his neck, hoping that I wasn't too late.

I touched his neck, only to receive no pulse. My arms went limp in shock as tears started to drip from my eyes. He was dead.

"I'm...I'm sorry." Baki muttered as he realized what had happened.

"You don't get to be sorry." I growled, not taking my eyes off of my grandson.

But then something started to happen. He was enveloped in a golden light, one that was felt warm and calming.

It was familiar despite the fact that I had never felt this before. What was it?

"No way." Gasped Akashi, walking over. "It's a miracle..."

"What's going on?" Baki asked.

"A miracle. Merlin told me about these. Something so powerful, that reality bends to it's will. A blessing from god." Akashi explained.

"And that light...it has to be it." Akashi gasped.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Avalon." Akashi stated. "I remember Merlin telling me about Avalon when she would reminisce about back when Arthur was king."

"Avalon had a blessing from god. A miracle." Akashi explained. "So not only did this teenager somehow obtain Avalon, but it even used it's one-in-a-lifetime miracle on him."

My eyes widened as tears started to fall. But this time, they were of relief and happiness.

"He's alive." I smiled.

And the teenager jerked, taking a deep breath of fresh air.
