"You might be able to advance to Tier 3." Loki suddenly stated.
"What?" I muttered, shocked. "So soon? It's only been a month. Even with my ability it shouldn't be that fast."
"Now that Eric is Tier 2, that means he has Legend's Spirit. Which means..." Loki started.
"If he considers me a close ally I get another boost in speed." I realized. "Two boosts to increase the speed at which I level up!"
"If you can land a finishing hit on that Ice Golem, you should be able to level up to Tier 3." Loki stated.
"All right. I'll keep that in mind." I replied.
Eric jumped out of the way of an ice shard which slammed into the ground. He stared wide-eyed at the large shard that would most definitely have killed him.
The Ice Golem was a huge hulking mass of snow with ice crystals poking out. It was a little over a story high, and very dangerous.
I ran up beside him. "What's the plan?" I asked.
"Ken! What happened to Cole?!" He asked.
"He's knocked out. Traitorous bastard." I grumbled. "Anyways, what do we need to do?"
"The Teacher can't take it out himself. He's a B Rank too." Eric stated.
Here might be a nice fact to know. Usually the rank a Monster has means it takes multiple of that same rank Adventurer to kill it. Like two to three. But this only applies to B Ranks to S Ranks.
D Rank. Anyone with an Arcana can beat them. As for C Ranks, a C Rank Adventurer could beat one. And most monsters have their own weakness which exploited can increase odds of winning. This could make it possible for a B Rank Adventurer to beat a B Rank Monster. From S to D, most have weaknesses.
Basically, calculating the chances of winning is complicated.
And our Teacher can't take care of a B Rank by himself. But with 20 Students-In-Training, we could do it. Or at least hold it off for enough time.
"Teacher sent out an SOS. We have to at least hold it off until then. The plan is hit and dodge." Eric explained.
Like my Dragon Axe Style. "Good. Hit and dodge is my specialty." I grinned.
The Ice Golem does indeed have a weakness. Learned it from a book. As you could imagine, it's fire.
"Hey! Who here has fire as their element for Tier 1?" I yelled.
Two other students raised their hands, one being Kai. I ran over to them, ready to say the plan.
"The Ice Golem's weakness is fire. If we can surround it in fire, we might be able to melt it." I explained. "You in?"
"Absolutely!" Kai grinned. The other student nodded meekly.
"Alright. Kai, you head to the back. Other student, you stay here. I'll head to a third spot. Then I'll order everyone back and we'll launch our fire." I explained.
Kai and other student nodded in agreement. We quickly went over to our positions. As Kai reached his spot I got to my own, in between Kai and the other student. Eric also happened to be standing at where I stopped.
The Ice Golem roared as it slammed its fist into the ground. The student targeted barely dodged. Another student quickly grabbed him, moving away.
The Ice Golem roared. It grabbed a crystal off of it's back, gripping it in his hand. He chucked it towards a student who quickly dodged.
"Everybody back up!" I yelled, manifesting fire into my palms.
The Teacher noticed me, Kai and and other student. "Everybody get back!" He repeated.
All the students backed up as Kai and other student also manifested their fire into their own hands.
I took a deep breath. Let it go.
It's got one purpose. Destroy.
The fire grew in my hands, getting larger in size. Instead of being a golf ball like before, it became the size of a basketball.
I concentrated on the fire, letting it roam free.
Throwing it at the Ice Golem it created a small wave of fire which raced towards him. Kai and other student repeated my actions, sending their own waves of fire at the Golem.
Their's was also smaller. I'm not trying to shame them on the size of their fire waves, I'm just stating a fact.
They slammed into the Ice Golem, making it roar in fury. It started to melt the snow of the Golem, slowly making the Golem get smaller. Instead of being slightly over a single story, it was now slightly under.
And then it released a wave of frost from it's mouth, freezing the fire and stopping it's melting.
"Oh fuck." I muttered.
The Ice Golem grabbed a crystal, before aiming it in my direction. Looking around me, I noticed one more student behind me. Eric.
"Shit!" I cursed.
I pushed him out of the way as the crystal was flung towards us.
Look, I'm no hero. But as long as my friends are my friends, I'm going to do my best to protect them. It won't happen again. And having the Main Character being seriously injured this early in the anime could, quite literally, be the end of our world.
The crystal slammed into me. I watched as Eric stared at me with wide eyes, surprised by my sudden and "heroic" action. Honestly, it was more of an Eric move than a me move.
I slammed down on the ground, groaning in pain. Glancing up, I saw that the crystal had me pinned onto the floor, over both of my legs. It was probably about the size of me. I summoned Loki and tried to slam him into the crystal, but it just deflected off.
It hurts. It hurts a lot. I've been through worse however, so I should be...okay. I can handle this.
Eric looked back at the Ice Golem, a furious rage morphing on his face. Honestly, I think it's the angriest I've ever seen him. Including through the anime. Kind of scary. He gripped Excalibur in his hand as a thin layer of water started to build on the blade.
Yeah, Excalibur's element is water. The most likely reason for this is the holy element is for healing only and water was the next best because the Lady of the Lake was the one who gifted the blade to King Arthur in some legends.
He swung his blade, sending a blade of water flying through the air. It went straight through the leg of the Ice Golem, completely cutting it off.
The sheer power of Excalibur can be frightening sometimes. Especially since Eric is still only at Tier 2.
"Ken!" Lily yelled worriedly, appearing next to me. "Why didn't you dodge that?! That's your whole thing!"
"Some things are more important." I sighed.
"Ken!" Kai yelled, running over. "You alright?!"
"Do I look alright to you?" I grunted. "Can you two get this off of me?"
They gripped the crystal, and albeit struggled, they pulled it off of my legs and shoved it to the side. I looked down at my legs, very much broken and in pain.
Wow. I really am an idiot. How am I going to train with two broken legs? How am I going to survive with two broken legs?
Fuck.
A girl ran over, with long flowing pink hair. She was extremely cute. You'd expect someone with looks like that to be a main character but no...I don't recognize her.
"How bad are his injuries?" She asked.
"Uh...pretty bad..." Kai awkwardly replied.
"Alright. I'll handle this." She nodded. "You two continue the fight."
We all looked over to the other students and the Teacher who continued to struggle against the Ice Golem despite it only had one leg. They were definitely doing more damage now however.
But they were getting tired. Not to mention some of them had nasty scratches, blood leaking down and leaving trails of red across their skin.
We won't last much longer.
"Stay still." She ordered. She hovered her hands above my legs as a golden light enveloped them.
Relief washed over me as my legs started to feel better. The pain surging through my legs wasn't quite as bad as before.
"You're have a holy element." I realized.
Holy element is the rarest element. How was she not a main character? Maybe because she's not yandere...? Well, I can't rule out the possibility of there being other yanderes. You never know in this crazy world after all.
"I didn't realize we had one in our class." I stated.
"You should really pay attention to your other classmates more." She giggled.
"So who are you?" I asked.
"Rose Valentine." She stated. "You?"
"Ken Kage." I replied.
Interesting name, that's for sure.
"Well, thanks Valentine." I replied.
"No problem Kage." She responded. "Just a couple more minutes. Then you'll be okay."
"Man, holy element is overpowered." I sweatdropped.
"Well, my Tier 2 increases it's effectiveness." Rose explained. "Usually it'd take much longer."
"Ah. That makes sense." I muttered. So she's also a Tier 2.
I looked back at the rest of the class. It wouldn't be long until they were done. Even Eric and Lily, with their training, were also tired and near their end.
After all, it's a B Rank. It's taken 30 minutes, and with A B Rank Teacher, and about 20 students and the B Rank Monster still hasn't gone down.
"It's done." Rose stated.
I looked back down to my legs. They looked completely fine, despite my ripped up and bloodied jeans. They also felt completely fine.
"Thanks." I grinned.
"No problem." Rose smiled. "I'll go heal the others."
I stood up, manifesting Loki into my hand. How am I supposed to take out the Ice Golem? We'll have no chance unless we can utilize it's weakness.
"How long until reinforcements?" I asked, running over to the bloodied teacher, cuts littering his arms.
"About 5 minutes." Teacher grunted.
5 more minutes. Unless I can do something with my fire, we're all dead. But if I do anything...
No. I can handle a short amount of spotlight. It's better than all of our deaths. No need to be unreasonable.
"Eric!" I yelled.
"Ken?!" He gasped, turning towards me. A small cut was on his forehead, dripping blood. "You're alright!"
"I'm fine." I stated. "I have a plan. I need your help."
"I'll do anything." Eric nodded.
"Can you get a large gash onto it's chest?" I asked.
"I think so." Eric thought.
"Alright. Thanks." I replied.
"Ken! Anything I can do?" Lily asked, suddenly appearing next to me.
"Distract the Ice Golem with the other students." I ordered.
"Got it." Lily playfully saluted.
She dashed off to the other students. She quickly talked to them before they all started to attack the Golem while making sure to avoid it's fists and flying crystals while it's attention was on them.
Eric dashed forwards, water gathering around his blade. He swung it forwards, sending a strong blast of water straight into the Ice Golem's chest, creating a gash in the snow.
Eric backed up. It's my turn now.
Deep breath...
I rushed forwards, igniting Loki on fire. I quickly reached the Ice Golem and slammed my axe into the open wound.
Destroy! Destroy it all, fire!
The fire blasted from the axe, burning at the Ice Golem from the inside. It roared in pain as the fire ate at it's inside. It burned through the Ice Golem, burning a hole straight through it's chest. The Ice Golem fell down, finally defeated.
I collapsed to my knees, gasping.
That's not exactly easy.
"Ken! That was amazing!" Eric cheered.
"Thanks." I chuckled.
Fuck...
The Principal ran into the area, Bianca following her.
"Is everyone alright?!" She worriedly asked.
"We're all fine. Barely." Teacher sighed.
"God...first the Minotaurs, then the security incident, and now this...nothing is going my way this year..." Principal sighed.
"Anyways, it's good to see you all are alright." She stated.
She looked over to me. "You defeated it?" She asked, impressed.
"No." I refused. "I just got the final blow."
"Hm." Bianca hummed, staring at me intrigued.
No. Stop that.
"You sure are a penchant for trouble. The Lesser Dragon, the Minotaur, and now the Ice Golem." Aiko stated. "You better become strong with that luck of yours."
Yeah. I will...
I will...
This was the final event of Arc 1, wasn't it? I need to get ready for Arc 2. This is when stuff is going to get real. The events of this Arc is what I believe cause Iris Aegis, one of the kindest people in the world, to become yandere.
And it all starts with the unfortunate murder of her older sister, Irene Aegis.
