The incident with the Ice Golem was almost a disaster. A whole class almost died, and it took the Principal forever to get there for some reason despite the speed at which she arrived to the Lesser Dragon.
I really don't know why. I think part of it was traffic. There's a rumor that traffic was so bad that Aiko and Bianca just jumped out of the cars and ran to where we were. It's just a rumor however:
And as for Cole Carson, that backstabbing bastard, he was expelled. You can't have someone who would betray their own teammates for petty reasons become an Adventurer. Now there probably are those types of Adventurers out there in the Guild but the school isn't going to train one.
So that's one good thing that came out of the fight with the Ice Golem. This is one more good thing however...
Loki. S Rank.
Tier 1 - Fire Element
Tier 2 - Trickster God's Spirit
Tier 3 - Disguise
I gazed at my Adventurer Card. I have now reached Tier 3.
"Disguise? What does this do?" I wondered.
"It's called Disguise. What do you think it does?" Snorted Loki.
"I know that." I grumbled. "How does it work?"
"You have to touch a person with the intention to disguise as them, and then you'll be able to disguise yourself as them at anytime! It even copies their voice! It's a really nifty trick." Loki explained.
That sounds really useful. If I can touch someone once and copy their appearance, then I could have a whole arsenal of disguises to easily switch to!
"Wait, does it copy clothes as well?" I asked.
"It does." Loki confirmed.
This is useful. A plan is already forming in my head.
Because we're about to go into Arc 2, and this is when shit starts to get real. The events of this Arc turn Iris into the yandere she will eventually become.
And it all starts with the murder of her sister, the first princess, Irene Aegis.
Irene Aegis is also the leader of the Royal Knights, a task force filled with No-Arcana Fighters who deal with issues pertaining to the Aegis Family. The Aegis Family is influential enough to have their own personal guards. Who are also knights. It's kind of crazy.
Irene is betrayed by one of her own Royal Knights, literally stabbed right in the back while conducting a public speech. I believe the speech was about recent events or something. And it would be her last speech ever.
The sword used by the backstabbing Royal Knight went straight through her heart. There was no chance to save her.
Irene Aegis is extremely powerful, being at Tier 8 while only 18. She never expected a sneak attack by one of her own men, however. This was her downfall.
And likely what started Iris' path to becoming a yandere.
This gruesome event was broadcasted on all of television. It caused a lot of chaos as you would expect. And this is what kicks off Arc 2, commonly known as the "Aegis Civil War" arc.
This is because whoever that Knight was, they were ordered by the first prince, Isaac Aegis, to murder Irene.
As Irene is older than Isaac, if he wants to become the heir in the family he has some obstacles. Obstacles he opted to kill, despite being family.
Isaac is nothing like Irene or Iris. He's practically worthless. Lazy, no Arcana, and willing to murder his own family. Truly trash.
So we have the murder of Iris' sister, and the revelation that her brother was the one who ordered it. You can see why this Arc makes Iris a yandere.
Especially since Isaac is her own twin brother, and his focus is shifted to murdering Iris after the death of Irene. He never succeeds however as Eric is roped in and saves Iris.
But I'm thinking that I may be able to prevent all of that. I believe I may be able to stop Iris from even becoming a yandere.
This was impossible with Lily, as her problems came from before the anime started. But Iris' problems happen during the anime.
And if I can prevent the turning of Iris to a yandere, that will greatly help. Why? Because Iris may be the most dangerous yandere of them all.
She's a literal princess, and comes from one of the two most influential families in Tokyo. That lets you get away with some stuff. When she's in her "Yandere mode" she becomes stone cold, the opposite of her usual kind nature. She won't bat an eye at murdering someone who crossed Eric. She's also rich, and ends up creating a cult for Eric.
Yes, you heard me right. Eventually Iris ends up creating a cult that worships Eric as some sort of god. The Cult of Excalibur.
But if I can prevent Iris from becoming yandere, then I'll have one less yandere to worry about and I shouldn't have to worry about crossing the cult. This should greatly prevent my chances of dying. And to prevent this, I need to prevent what started her spiraling descent to madness.
I need to prevent the murder of Irene Aegis.
It's going to be tricky. The Knight that murdered Irene quickly disappeared during the chaos and was never found. He wore a helmet which kept himself anonymous as the Royal Knights have an uniform. The helmet is optional however.
Not to mention it happens while she does a public speech in the middle of Tokyo on a stage. She stands up at the microphone while the rest of the Royal Knights stood behind her.
It seems impossible without drawing a ton of attention to myself. But now I have my own way to become anonymous.
I can become a Royal Knight. Many people use disguises by dressing themselves in an uniform. Now I can do that myself. I just need to find a Royal Knight, touch them, and then I have my disguise.
I then just need to integrate myself with the rest of the Royal Knights inconspicuously right before the speech.
I checked today's date. July 28.
The day of Irene's death is August 3. I only have a couple days.
It's risky waiting until the day-of to get the disguise of a Royal Knight. I may not be able to get close enough to touch one. That means I need to do it before then. And before that I need to make sure I can even use Disguise or else everything goes to ruin.
I walked out of my apartment. I just need to touch someone while trying to imagine using them as a disguise, right?
As I looked to my right, I saw Eric walking towards me while holding grocery bags. He was likely heading back to his room.
"Hey Eric." I greeted. "Went shopping?"
"Yeah." Eric nodded. "Went to that corner store."
"It's a good place." I stated. As he walked by I patted him on the shoulder, imagining myself as Eric. "I'm heading out. I'll see you later."
"Where are you going?" Eric wondered.
"Just going to wander around." I replied. "It's a nice day out."
"Have a good time." Eric smiled.
"Thanks." I responded. I quickly exited the apartment building. Now I need to try this out.
I entered a nearby public bathroom. It was empty. Perfect. I walked over to the mirror, staring at myself. I closed my eyes, attempting to use Disguise for the first time.
Imagine myself as Eric...
...
I'm Eric...
...
I'm Eric...
...
I'm Eric...
...
I opened my eyes to see a face that wasn't mine. Eric looked back at me from the mirror. As I raised my hand, so did the Eric in the mirror.
"It worked!" I gasped.
"Wow. You grasped that quickly." Loki commented. "Didn't expect you to get it first try."
"Well I did." I grinned.
"Oh, and you might want to know that I can't be disguised." Loki added.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked him.
"I can't look like Excalibur is what I mean. Not with the Disguise ability. You won't be able to make me look like Eric's weapon." Loki explained.
"I see." I muttered. "Unfortunate. I'm also going to need to somehow grab onto a Royal Knight weapon as well..."
Without a weapon, I'd be a weaponless Royal Knight. Obviously. And those just don't exist. It could draw suspicion.
"First you need to find a knight." Loki commented.
"I know." I replied. "But I know where some are."
The Royal Guard is the Aegis Family's personal guards, so they'd be near the Aegis Mansion, guarding it.
That's where I'll find one. Then I'll just need to touch one.
I walked through the streets of Tokyo, heading to where the Aegis Mansion was. When I got near, I realized just how huge the place was.
It's so large...it's like the apartment complex times 100. It's so much larger and grand in person.
Just as I expected there were a couple Royal Knights guarding the gate that led to the entrance of the Aegis Mansion. I could tell due to their uniformed armor; silver and gold with the symbol of a crown on them.
Alright, time to do this.
I walked up to one of the knights which wore a helmet, tapping his armored shoulder. I want to look like him. I want to be able to disguise as him.
He turned to look at me. "Hm? You need something?" He asked.
The Knights are actually pretty nice.
"Your sword is really cool! Where'd you get it?" I curiously asked, pointing at one of the two swords attached to his waist.
"Oh, I got it at the Ryuhi Blacksmith." He stated. "They have really good weapons. You an Adventurer-In-Training?"
Ryuhi? Isn't that Kai's last name?
"I am." I nodded. "And also, I saw someone lingering by the gate over there that looked a little suspicious. I'm not sure though." I lied.
He sighed. "Well, better go check it out."
He then walked over to where I pointed. Now you might be wondering why I did that, hm? Well I needed a way to end the conversation and get away. Besides, who just goes up to a knight and asks him where he got his sword? Suspicious.
Anyways, I now know my next destination. The Ryuhi Blacksmith.
Asking a stranger for directions it didn't take long to find the Blacksmith. As I entered I saw a familiar face at the counter.
"Kai?" I asked.
He looked over to me. "Oh! Hey Ken!"
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Well, this is my family's shop." Kai stated. "Anything I can get you?"
Wow, they never explored that in the anime.
"Yeah, I was looking for a knight's sword. I wanted to start training in swordsmanship." I lied.
"Oh, I know just what you would want!" Kai exclaimed. He moved out from behind the counter. "Follow me."
I followed him to the sword section of the shop. He gestured at multiple different knight swords.
"Here are our knight European-Styled swords." Kai stated.
I saw exactly what I wanted. A sword just like the one that the Knight used.
I picked it off of the wall. It's actually pretty light.
"That's a good choice." Kai noted. "It's actually what the Royal Knights use. It's lightweight and short so it came be used with one hand. They're pretty cheap and decently durable. It'll last you a year at most."
"How much?" I asked.
"25,000 Yen." Kai stated.
I cringed. Thats cheap for a sword, but still gonna take a lot...
"Why do the Royal Knights use such cheap swords?" I asked. "You'd think they would use better weapons since they protect the Aegis Family."
"Oh, that's because it's their backup sword. They use a more expensive sword and shield as their main weapons. It's a portable backup in case their main weapon breaks." Kai explained.
Oh, that makes more sense. It will be good enough however. The investment should be worth it however. I'll just have to eat ramen noodles as most of my meals for a little while.
"I can get you a discount so it only costs 20,000 Yen." Kai added.
I looked at him surprised. "What?"
"Yeah, it's fine." Kai smiled. "Friends get discounts. It's always been a tradition here."
"Wow. Thank you." I smiled. I won't have to eat as much ramen now!
"No problem!" Kai grinned. "I should be thanking you!"
Thanks Kai. Now everything's set. I just need to integrate myself into the Royal Knights the day-of the public speaking and stop the murder of Irene Aegis.
