"You're a Tier 8." I replied. "I'm a Tier 3. Why would you need me? Not to mention you're incredibly smart, and easily one of the greatest upcoming Adventurers of our generation."
"I am smart. But you don't give enough credit to yourself. You're also scarily smart. Being able to infiltrate the Royal Knights without suspicion." Irene stated.
You think that highly of me? It wasn't that hard to be honest. You might just need to improve security or something. Just like Legacy High.
"You match up to me in smarts, and it's only been a couple months since your Adventurer training must have started. You're already at Tier 3, and you've almost mastered the Dragon Fist style." Irene listed out the reasons.
Wow, I'm flattered.
"And now I'm not sure who to trust. One of my own Royal Knights attempted to assassinate me, and ALL of them are loyal to the Aegis Family. Having one defect is unimaginable..." Irene continued. "I need your help."
"And you can trust me?" I replied. "You're smart, observant, and intuitive. You don't need my help."
Please, just leave me alone. I saved you, and that was my only goal. You should then be able to deal with your brother Isaac, and Iris won't be become a yandere. I've done enough here.
"Obviously I'm not enough, because I would have been dead if not for you. And if you weren't on my side, you wouldn't have helped me." Irene stated. "I have my suspicions on the culprit, but I need you to help me. Two minds are better than one."
...
"And I'll make sure to make it worth your while." Irene added.
Worth my while?
"How?" I curiously asked. What is it?
"First, I'll pay you. And while you're my bodyguard I'll make sure you have the best equipment, on me of course." Irene stated.
Those are good. Having money and equipment will definitely help me survive...but I don't know if it's worth it...is it worth getting into the mess of Arc 2...?
"And I'll tell you everything about strengthening your Arcana." Irene finished.
What?
"There's more?" I asked, shocked.
"While we don't have enough information yet to completely inform the public, we still have theories and evidence. You'll have access to see it all if you become my bodyguard." Irene smiled. "And I mean as my personal bodyguard."
"Isn't that Cyrus?" I wondered.
"He is, but I'm not sure if I can trust him." Irene stated.
My god. She's a monster. Scarily smart.
Cyrus ends up being a traitor in the anime, known as the "Treacherous Knight", despite having an incredibly loyal personality. He even grew up with Irene and Iris. They're practically childhood friends, yet he ends up betraying them. It's believed that he was ordered by Isaac, and that's the only reason he betrayed them.
But still...to obey the orders of a corrupt prince to murder your own childhood friend...?
"He's the most loyal out of all of them, but if one of them already defected..." Irene sighed. "I hate to suspect him. I've known him my entire life. But if my theory is correct, then he's not safe to be alone with."
"And there's the fact that he attempted to assassinate me in broad daylight in front of a crowd." Irene added. "Which means he either is bold, dumb, or..."
"He has someone to back him up." I realized. Isaac Aegis. The Prince. Did she realize?
"Right. So please, become my bodyguard." Irene pleaded.
...
This...it's worth it. There's no guarantee that Irene won't be killed in another assassination plot, and I won't know since Irene is supposed to be dead in the anime. I'm in new territory. Plus, there's a good chance that Main Character Eric could be dragged into the Arc 2 mess, and as his be at friend it means I would most likely get involved anyways. Taking this offer gives me an advantage however.
Equipment, money, and information. After all, Arcana upgrading didn't exist in the Heaven's Hell anime. Somehow the death of Irene prevented the public from learning of it. It quite literally changes everything. This is an investment that will greatly help my chances at survival.
"I'll do it. I can't refuse a request from the first princess, now can I?" I smirked.
Irene smiled. "Thank you. Now then, let's get you ready."
"What?" I asked. What do you mean?
"We need to get you ready. If you're going to be my personal bodyguard you're going to have to be by my side 24/7." Irene explained.
...fuck.
"First let's go visit the Taiyou Dojo and let your trainer know you won't be able to come for a while." Irene stated.
"Alright." I sighed. "Wait, how do you know I go to Taiyou Dojo?"
"Connections." Irene stated, showing me her phone.
You did that while we were talking? The fuck?
...
...I still don't understand how you did that! We were talking the whole time!
Irene opened the panel, letting the driver see us again. "Stop here." She ordered. The driver stopped, letting Irene out.
"Are you sure miss?" The driver asked.
"Of course." Irene nodded. I exited the car, following her. "I'll be fine."
The driver hesitantly nodded. "Okay. Be safe." He got back into the limousine, driving off.
"We're walking?" I wondered.
"The Royal Knights, our butlers, all of them are completely loyal to the Aegis Family." Irene stated. "But I suspect that the perpetrator is...my own brother. If so, they must follow his orders."
"Seriously? But wouldn't you have a higher priority than him?" I asked. "You're the first princess. Older than him by a year, and set to be the next Queen."
"I would, but I suspect that there is foul play involved. Isaac has always been trouble. He would stoop that low." Irene explained.
"And you sure it's Isaac?" I asked.
It is, but I want to hear her reasoning.
"All of the other enemies of the Aegis Family are gone." Irene stated.
...that's totally not scary at all...
We arrived in front of Taiyou Dojo. Irene opened the doors, walking in with me shortly behind. Goku was sat down, wiping sweat off of his forehead with a towel. He looked over towards the new arrivals.
"Ah! Ken! And...Miss Aegis..?" He realized. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to inform his trainer about something. May you lead me to him?" Irene politely asked, walking up to him.
"I am his trainer. So, what's going on?" Goku questioned.
"Kage won't be able to come to the Dojo for a small while." Irene stated.
"And why's that?" Goku asked, raising an eyebrow.
"At the moment he's now my personal bodyguard." Irene revealed.
Goku just stared at me. "How the hell did you manage to do that?"
Before Irene could say anything I quickly made an excuse. "It's a long story..." I said.
"That excuse was horrendous." Loki stated.
Look, it's the best I could do on the spot.
"Well, that sucks." Goku sighed. "Well, make sure you be careful kid. Politics are dangerous. I would know. Irene, you better not get him killed. He's sixteen."
"And I'm eighteen. Despite our age, we can handle this." Irene replied.
"Don't die kid." Goku ordered, looking at me.
I smiled. "I won't."
"Good!" Goku grinned. "Once you come back we can finally get you to master the Dragon Fist style!"
"Alright." I nodded.
"Thank you, and goodbye. May we meet once more in the future." Irene said as we left.
"That was incredibly fancy. Do you say goodbye like that to everyone?" I replied, sweatdropping.
"No. But Goku Taiyou deserves a lot of respect. I worked with him once before. Despite being a Yakuza Leader he is an honest and kind man." Irene stated.
"So what's next?" I asked.
"We contact the Principal of Legacy High." Irene told me.
"Excuse me what?" I questioned. "Did I hear you right?"
"Of course. I must let her know that I'm pulling you out of school for a little while." Irene said, as if it was obvious. "Remember? You're going to be with me 24/7."
"Is that really necessary?" I asked.
"Of course. You never know when an assassin will strike." Irene stated.
"What about when you go to the restroom? Or to bed?" I wondered.
"You'll stand outside of the bathroom, and you'll sleep in my room." Irene nodded.
"...you're incredibly smart but do you have any common sense?" I asked her.
"What?" She replied, confused.
"I'm a man. You're a woman. Similar age. In a room together, and ALONE. In Japan. Do I need to spell it out any further?" I stated.
"You won't do anything." Irene stated, shaking her head. "You're not that kind of person."
"And how would you know? You've barely known me." I replied.
"Actions speak louder than words." Irene responded. "Now let's call the Principal. I wonder if she'll be happy to hear from me again?"
"With what you're going to tell her probably not..." I sighed.
Who knew the First Princess of the Aegis Family was like this? She's a polar opposite to Iris...
"And after the call we'll get you your gear." Irene stated. "I believe the next attempt will come soon. But this time, it might not be on me."
"You mean?" I wondered, pieces connecting themselves in my head.
"Yes. I believe there will be an attempt on Iris during her and Isaac's birthday party on the 15th. We must get as ready for then." Irene revealed.
Her birthday?! After the death of Irene there wasn't a birthday, but a funeral and grieving party for Irene! Why is there a birthday now-?!
Oh. That's depressing.
Iris didn't have a birthday party that year. Because instead she had a funeral for her sister.
However, I prevented the death of Irene Aegis. So Iris shouldn't become a yandere.
Right?
