My back was against the wall, my butt against the floor. A bloody knife was stabbed into the floor between my legs, dangerously close to my sacred place. Rain pounded against the windows, but it couldn't drown out the rapid thumping of my heart banging in my ears.
"Ken. Be mine." She grinned, adorning a bloody face of obsessed love.
A discarded body laid behind her, stabbed once through the heart. Blood leaked from under it, slowly staining the floor.
Why was this happening?
How did I get here?
Well...it all started at the beginning of this arc...
. . .
I yawned, affected by the return to school. Now I was no longer allowed to sleep in and was forced to wake up early for school once more.
"Hey Ken. Eric's not here yet, and class is about to start. Is he ok?" Kai asked, pointing towards the empty seat next to Lily.
Strange. Even Lily's here, but Erica isn't?
"I don't know." I replied. "Maybe he's feeling what all of us are feeling right now; the dreaded first day back."
"You don't know? But don't you live right next to him?" Kai wondered.
Right, nobody exactly knows that I now live with the Aegis Family.
The bell rang as the teacher entered the room, placing his papers at the desk. He cleared his throat, silencing the class.
It's official, Erica is late for the first time.
"Uhm...from today onwards we'll be having a...new student?" The teacher stated with a strange tone at the end.
Immediately everybody started talking about who the transfer student was, but this announcement left me in dread.
Transfer students are usually main characters in anime! It's a cliche way to add a new character to the main roster!
The only time this ever happened in Heaven's Hell was when Yui became an adventurer-in-training. She then transferred to Eric's class in order to stay with him.
But this happens after the events of Arc 3, so why do we have a transfer student now?!
"Come on in." The Teacher stated.
The transfer student walked in, leaving everyone in shock. A cute girl wore the school uniform, with familiar blond hair and green eyes.
"My real name is Erica Arthurson." She bowed. "I'll be in your care from now on."
The whole class fell into a shocked silence, before all chaos erupted. "What?!" Everybody exclaimed.
I face-palmed. Of course Erica would reveal the fact that she's a woman and start going to school as one, now that she's finally living as a girl.
"Due to unknown reasons, Erica here was pretending to be the male Eric...from now on however, she'll be Erica..." The Teacher stated, still confused as well.
"Reverse trap?" Kai gasped under his breath, incredibly confused. "They're real?"
Apparently. Even anime is real. After all, I'm in one.
Erica walked over to her seat next to Lily, smiling at her. She glanced over at me, her eyes connecting with mine as she gave me a short wave.
"Looking at him-her now, she looks so much like a girl...how did we never notice?" Kai muttered under his breath.
Don't think too hard about it. It's anime logic.
Anime in real life logic.
"Ken Kage, please come to the Principal's office." A speaker in the classroom suddenly stated, sending the students into a deafening silence once more.
Immediately whispers filled the room.
"What the hell did you do?" Kai asked.
"I didn't do anything!" I hissed at him.
I looked at Lily and Erica. Erica gave me a worried look while Lily gave me an accusing stare.
Damn you Lily! I didn't do anything!
I stood up, walking out of the room. I traversed the hallways, before eventually reaching the Principal's office.
Knocking on the door, I was met with a "Come in."
I opened the door, closing it behind me. The Principal sat at her desk, gesturing to the seat in front of her. I complied, sitting down slightly worried.
Did I do anything to warrant a trip to the Principal's office?
Well, I did murder the king...
...
I guess that's a no, then. I didn't do anything to warrant this!
"You've gotten yourself into quite a lot of trouble, haven't you?" She sighed. "You're becoming quite the interesting student."
"I don't know what you're talking about." I replied.
She raised an eyebrow at me. "The Lesser Dragon, the Minotaur, the Ice Golem, and then the whole mess with the Aegis Family?"
"Ah, fair point." I realized.
"On that note, because of your recent adventure you've been given an opportunity." The Principal stated.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
Before the Principal could respond, the door to her office opened as two people entered. Turning around to see them, my eyes widened in despair.
You're the last person I want to see!
Yui Yosei stood in the office, a man wearing a suit next to her. He had slicked back, black hair and a pair of sunglasses on. He took them off, tucking them onto his collar.
"Hello again." She shyly smiled.
"..eh?" I muttered out in surprise.
"We want you to become the idol Yui Yosei's bodyguard." The Principal stated.
...you're kidding me, right?
This is supposed to be Erica's role! She's supposed to be the one who becomes Yui's bodyguard and make Yui fall for her!
If I'm in that spot, then I could be the one to make Yui fall in love! Not to mention the last time I was a bodyguard I made a girl turn yandere for me, and she wasn't even a yandere from the original anime!
"Wouldn't anyone else be better?" I said, trying to get out of this. "I'm low tier, and only a first year. Shouldn't you hire an actual adventurer or something?"
Actually Tier 4, extremely high for my class, but they don't know that and it doesn't matter right now.
"Usually, but you're the ONLY student here with actual bodyguarding experience. And after a certain person saved her, she wished for that person to be her bodyguard." The Principal stated.
How'd they know it was me?!
"It wasn't hard for them to trace an Arcana using student with an axe back to you." She added.
Damn it!
"We needed someone trustworthy to be her bodyguard, and after Yui's recounting of the attempted kidnapping, I know you're trustworthy." The man explained.
I led her into an alleyway. Are you sure about that, random man?
"I don't mean to be rude, but...who are you?" I asked him.
He grinned. "My name is Yoru Yosei, at your service."
What?! Her dad?! Are you her dad?!
"Yoru is the father of Yui, and also the man who works the business side of her idol career, including setting up events and hiring bodyguards." The Principal explained.
Seriously?!
"I really wish that you accept. Of course, you will be rewarded so it won't be for nothing." He stated.
Shit!
I don't want to be her bodyguard, but if she ended up dying it would be very bad! Not only would it cause a lot of chaos, but an amazing healer would be lost.
Yui needs to awaken her Arcana, which means I need to get her to fall for Erica and become an adventurer-in-training.
Because I don't want to make her fall for me and then get another yandere after me! No way! No way in hell!
Wait, but if Erica's a yandere and likes me, making a yandere fall for her could be dangerous for myself...
Damn it! This is such a bad situation!
...
I got an idea. I'll have to make Yui fall for Erica. I doubt she'll attack me because of how sad it would make Erica, and how it would make Erica hate her. But even if she did try to, she wouldn't have a chance against me.
I'm a Tier 4. Even if she did awaken her Arcana, it'd still be a supporting Arcana, not good at all to kill someone. And it's be a lower Tier than my own.
I'll just have to take the risk. It's better than losing a good healer in the future. After all, the whole world rests on the main party stopping the Demon King.
And like it or not, I'm now part of them.
"Can I agree, but on one condition?" I asked.
"What is it?" Yoru asked.
"Can I also have one of my friends be a bodyguard as well? Two would be better than one." I wondered.
"Hmm..." Yoru thought. "How much do you trust them?"
"With my life." I stated.
"Then that's fine." Yoru nodded. "It's a pleasure doing business with you."
"You as well." I nodded
The Principal sighed. "Well, who else are you dragging with you?"
"Erica Arthurson." I stated.
"Ah, her. Another interesting first year. Honestly it makes a lot of sense. In a couple months she's already reached Tier 3 with her S Rank Arcana, and you two seem to be pretty close." The Principal thought aloud.
"Please take care of me." Yui said to me, bowing down.
"Oh, and starting tomorrow Yui will be transferring to your class so you can better protect her without being pulled out of school like last time." The Principal suddenly added.
I suddenly feel like I've just made a huge mistake...
