I lied. I am his friend.

One month later and I can't deny that I am the friend of Eric Arthurson, resident main character. His apartment was literally seated next to mine, so there wasn't much I could do to prevent this outcome.

This should, however, protect me. Having the status of Eric's best (only) friend means that if I was killed, Eric would be extremely sad.

This fact should keep the yanderes from killing me.

Being Eric's best friend also has some other benefits for me as well. This also means that there shouldn't be a chance for me to become a yandere's "object of affection".

I was transmigrated here. I won't deny that it's possible for me to attract a yandere. But I should be safe.

Why? The reason is that Eric should end up taking them all. As sorry as I am for him, I'm not sicking a yandere on me. Or five.

Anyways, a month later and I've made good progress. I'm perfectly integrated into this future world, I've become the best friend of Eric, and I've slowly been learning more about the Dragon Fist Style.

Seriously, for a lot of dodging and punching, it's a lot more complicated and thought out then what you would expect. Certainly surprised me.

A knock on the door shook me out of my deep thoughts. I really need to stop spacing out in thought like that...

Opening the door to my apartment, it revealed Eric standing at the door in his baggy clothing once more.

"You ready?" He asked.

"Absolutely." I smiled.

We exited the apartment building, saying goodbye to Ellie on our way out. And so, we started our perilous trek through Tokyo to reach the subway and get to Legacy High, which is at the center of the city.

"You seem really excited." I commented.

"I am! I've always wanted to be an adventurer." Eric stated.

"How come you were originally going to a normal high school then?" I asked curiously.

"Ah...my parents are a little...strict. Their future plans didn't exactly match mine." Eric sheepishly replied.

Wait a minute. I've never heard of this.

"Are they okay with this?" I asked.

"They are...after Ellie told them it was a top adventurer school." Eric answered.

I'm not liking the sound of these parents. They were never mentioned in the anime, so they shouldn't be too important, but still...

I can't help but be worried.

"Well, they don't matter right now. Right now, we're on our first step to becoming adventurers." I stated.

"You're right." Eric nodded.

We waited at the subway stop. Not before long the subway train arrived. Stepping on, we sat down as we waited for the train to start again.

The seats were quickly filled up. An old woman then walked onto the train, using her cane to help support herself.

"Here. You can sit here." Eric said, standing up from his seat.

"What a nice boy." She said smiling, before sitting down in his seat.

Eric really is nice.

More people should be like him...

But a lot of us are selfish bastards. Including me.

I stood up, standing next to Eric.

"What are you doing?" He asked, confused.

"Nothing." I replied, looking the other way.

I think I saw the old woman smile at me...

A couple stops later we finally hit our destination. Exiting the subway, we headed towards Legacy High.

April 3, 2052. The start of Arc 1 of canon.

We entered Legacy High, passing the gate into the courtyard. The staff were directing the students to go to the gym for the entrance exam.

I made sure to study so I can easily pass this. But not only so I can easily pass this. I need to stay under the radar as much as possible. Hide in Eric's shadow when he becomes famous in the school.

Be a mob character.

So I studied so much so that I could get 100%, but instead get around the average score for the written test.

I'll stay out of the spotlight. This is the way for my survival.

"Hey! Stop that!" Eric's shout suddenly shook me out my thoughts. Stop spacing out Ken...

Eric ran over to where a buff brown haired boy was pulling one of the...horns of a girl. The boy looked over to Eric and scoffed.

"This freak?" He replied.

"Yeah! Let her go!" Eric challenged.

"...Fine. But I have my eye on you." He responded, leaving her alone.

There are some humans who don't like other species. Of course, that's not the only reason this girl was bullied.

How do I know? Meet Lily Akuma, the first yandere. And a succubus.

She had black hair which covered one of her eyes, with two black horns poking out. Her one visible eye was pink, and she wore a choker around her neck. She also wore a black hoodie with a skirt.

There wasn't any way for me to prevent Lily from becoming a yandere, so I just let Eric help her and get her attention on himself. Definitely wasn't because I was spacing out.

"Are you alright?" Eric asked.

"Y-yeah...thank you..." She quietly said. "But why..?"

"Why what?" Replied Eric, confused.

"Why did you help me?" Lily asked.

"Because he was bullying you...?" Eric uncertainly answered, confused by her strange question.

To be fair, I'm sure I would be confused if I didn't know why she was bullied.

"B-but I'm a succubus..." Lily stated.

And there's the reason. A succubus can be discriminated against because their kind is known for certain...actions...that can ruin relationships.

"I don't get it." Eric responded.

"Wait, do you not know what a succubus is?" I asked him incredulously.

"No. What is it?" He asked.

How the hell does this blockhead not know?

I whispered in his ear what they were and what they do. As I pulled away, Eric's face was flushed a deep red.

"Y-you don't do that...right?" He asked her.

"N-no, I don't..." Lily replied, now also a little red.

"Then I'll be your friend." Eric said. "I'm Eric Arthurson."

What Eric doesn't know was that he has just started the creation of a yandere. Poor guy. Well, her focus is on him and not me, so this is good.

And she won't kill him. Everything's fine.

"I-I'm Lilith Akuma. Y-you can call me Lily..." She said, introducing herself.

"You can call me Eric then. And this jerk here is Ken Kage." Eric said, introducing me.

"I'm a jerk?" I asked him.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Fair point." I responded. I looked back to Lily. "Then you can call me Ken, I guess."

"N-nice to meet you." She bowed.

"Hey, we should probably get going to the exam." I pointed out.

"Ah! You're right!" Eric gasped, before starting to run off.

Lily and I rushed after him, hurrying up to the entrance exam. It was situated in the gym, where they had set up a ton of tables and chairs. Each person got their own to use as a desk.

I sat down at one, with Eric at the table to my right and Lily at the table to Eric's right. Waiting for the rest of the students to come on in, it didn't take long until they started to hand out the exam.

"Everybody may start now." One of the teachers said once a paper and pencil had been passed out to every student.

Looking at the questions on mine, I found them incredibly easy.

1. Which two families are known to be descended from a Great Sage?

It's obviously the Aegis and Tsuki families.

Many of the questions were like that. I made sure to answer most of them right, but also get some wrong to put me at an average grade. Now I just have to wait until everybody else finishes.

If you've ever finished a test early and you don't have anything to do afterwards, then you feel my pain.

The pain of staring at a wall for over an hour. And I stared at that wall hard. I practically engraved every single inch of that wall inside of my mind.

It felt like forever until everybody finally finished. The teachers walked around, collecting the finished test papers of the students.

Many of them looked anxious. I however, exactly know what my score will be. The perfect average. I searched it up.

Standing up, I stretched my legs and cracked my bones. I feel so much better not being stuck to that chair.

"Everybody may stay here until the scores are recorded." A teacher said.

In order to go through the awakening, you have to pass the entrance exam test. If you pass, you then go through the awakening and have a physical test.

The physical test doesn't need to be passed however. The physical test is more for the teachers to see how the students perform with their new powers.

"Do you think you made it?" Eric asked.

"I think so." I replied.

Actually, I know so.

"I-I think I did too..." Lily muttered.

We talked with each other for a while, waiting for the results to be recorded. Finally a teacher came out with the scores and posted them onto a wall.

"Check this board for your score. If you pass, you may go to the cafeteria for your awakening. If you don't, then you may not go to the cafeteria and Instead leave." The teacher stated.

"Let's go!" Eric excitedly shouted, heading over to the board.

Eric got up to the board, and started to scan it as best as he could with all the students. His eyes then soon widened as he turned to us.

"We all made it!" He cheered.

"Nice." I smiled. I glanced at where my score was on the board.

76.

The perfect average.

And now, it's time for the awakening.

I wonder what I will get for my Arcana?
