Day one of the tournament. The longest day, consisting of sixteen different one-on-one matches.
Today, half of the representatives will be eliminated. I don't plan on being one.
But this is a little more complicated than a simple one-on-one, and that's due to the stage. Or should I say, stages.
Before the match starts a roulette is spun by the commentators, and the stage that is chosen becomes the stage for that round.
It's some highly advanced technology, which in simple terms, switches the "floors" of the arena, creating different, unique fighting grounds.
Other than this, the rules are fairly simple. The two fight until one gives up or can no longer fight. However, attempting to create major injuries or death is not allowed.
The first seven matches of the day have been completed, and I didn't pay much attention to them. Both Iris and Bianca's matches aren't until later.
Once I finish this battle I'll analyze the other matches to see some of the abilities and techniques of the winners.
Unfortunately I don't know much about my opponent Eiko except for the fact that he's extremely arrogant and confidant. His arrogance could be founded, or it may not be. I won't know until we actually fight.
I stood in the preparation room, wearing a simple black muscle shirt and blue jeans. I wasn't wearing any armor, but that was fine.
I had a solution.
A giant gate stood in front of me. It was made of metal and was similar to a cage, allowing me to see through it.
The two representatives of match seven just left not to long ago, leaving the desert styled arena that they had been fighting on.
Four people sat in a box high above the arena. It held the two announcers, our Principal, and one other person.
"Alright!" The announcer said. "That concludes the exciting match seven! Coming up now match eight!"
"Before anything, we should spin the roulette first, and find out what arena the two shall be fighting in!" The other announcer stated.
The first announcer spun the roulette wheel. It spun and spun, before landing on a symbol of a lake and tree.
The arena started to rumble, as the floor moved down and a new one came up. This one was a large forest with a single lake in the middle.
"Looks like the arena is 'Oasis'!" The second announcer stated. "Now, for our first student, we have Third-Year Eiko Nakamura from Hamamatsu Adventurer's Academy, the second largest school in Japan!"
"And for our second student, we have First-Year Ken Kage from Legacy High, the largest school in Japan!" The first announcer exclaimed.
"Now it's time to start the match!" The second announcer stated. "The gates shall open, and the two representatives will enter!"
Just like the announcer said, the gate in front of me opened, slowly moving upwards and allowing me to enter the forest.
I quickly entered, jumping onto a tree and traveling through them. All of that Freestyle Parkour with Lily is already coming in handy. I could easily see a path through the trees.
"Miss Kato, everybody was surprised when they found out that your third representative was a First-Year. Why did you choose him?" Asked the first announcer.
I glanced to the stands. It was hard to believe that all of those people would be watching. Irene, Iris, Lily, Yui, Amber, Erica, Goku, and the other thousands attending.
Time to put on a show.
"Despite his younger age and lesser time with his Arcana, he is extremely smart and clever. He's also had actual experience, having been tasked with being the bodyguard of two important people before." Principal explained.
"Who were they?" Asked the second announcer.
"That's a secret." Smirked the Principal.
"What do you think about the First-Year, Mister Sato?" Asked the first announcer.
"While I doubt a First-Year can defeat the Third-Year Nakamura, I am curious to see how well he does. After all, Nakamura is known as the second strongest in his school." Mister Sato explained.
It wasn't long until I arrived near the lake in the middle of the arena, hiding in the outskirts of the trees. Near the lake stood Eiko, looking around while impatiently tapping his foot.
He wore a golden chestplate, making him stand out from his surroundings. It made me wonder if that was for armor or for show.
"Where is this little fucker?" He muttered to himself.
I materialized Loki in my hand, morphing him into his gun form. I aimed it at Eiko, hoping to hit him with a strong, concussive blast to the head and maybe knock him out immediately.
"Bang." I whispered.
A small bullet of fire erupted from my gun, speeding towards him. Eiko's eyes widened as he heard the rushing wind. He quickly dodged the bullet, letting it streak into the lake.
"Hey! Stop being a pansy and show yourself!" Eiko yelled.
"Fine." I muttered, jumping down from my branch, into the clearing around the lake.
Eiko burst out laughing at me. "Your Arcana is a gun and you actually revealed yourself?! And you have no armor?! This is hilarious!"
He extended his arm, an overly extravagant golden sword appearing in his hand. Unlike Erica's Excalibur, instead of beautiful, it felt ugly and disgusting.
It physically pained me to see it, and for some reason just ticked me off.
"Time to show you your place! This is my Tier 8 B Rank Arcana, Midas! It'll show you how much stronger I am than you." He arrogantly stated.
The second strongest has a B Rank? Either the school isn't as strong as it seems, or he's actually very strong.
He is a Tier 8, so I shouldn't underestimate him. He's probably less strong than Bianca and Irene, but stronger than Lily and Amber.
Heh.
Let's do this.
He quickly dashed at me, swinging his sword overhead to finish this in one blow. He grinned as his sword came downwards on me, but the grin quickly faded.
Medieval styled black armor appeared around me, except for the helmet. Instead were two black horns on my forehead, and a tattered green cape behind me. I caught his sword with my armored glove, staring him in the eyes.
Tier 6. Asgardian Armor.
"Magical Armor?!" He exclaimed with wide eyes.
Magical Armor is an incredibly useful and rare type of tier which, like it's name, creates magical armor around the wielder.
It provides a layer of defense that rivals an Arcana's attack, which means it's the only type of armor that can completely stop a high-leveled Arcana's strike without it cutting through.
"Gotcha." I grinned. Desummoning Loki, my other fist lit on fire. I pulled it back before sending it forwards. It slammed into his face, sending him flying backwards.
Fire erupted from the bottom of my feet, sending me flying towards the mid-air Eiko. He stared at me as I rocketed towards him. Flipping in the air, I sent my foot in a devastating kick into his stomach.
He slammed into the ground, sending dirt flying into the air. He stumbled to his feet, clutching his sword as he tried to ready himself.
I summoned Loki once more, morphing him into a one-handed hammer and sending the hammer into Eiko's stomach like an uppercut. He keeled over despite the armor, leaving him wide open.
I grabbed him by the hair, chucking him into a nearby tree. His back hit the tree, bending backwards as he coughed out blood.
He dropped to the ground, growling. He shakily stood up, touching the tree behind him. It started to turn into gold.
He picked up the golden tree, ripping it from the ground. "Fucking die!" He screamed, throwing it at me.
"No." I replied, waving my hand.
Fire erupted from my hand, in a giant wave which crashed into the golden tree. The golden tree started to melt, falling to the floor in a shiny yellow puddle before it could reach me.
"H-how?!" He exclaimed.
"When fire is hot enough, it can melt gold." I smiled.
"What the fuck?! Do you know hot that needs to be?!" Eiko exclaimed in shock.
1,064 degrees Celsius. Probably enough to burn a man alive.
I morphed Loki from a hammer into a spear, throwing it at him. The spear stabbed into the tree, right next to Eiko's pale face.
"Yield." I ordered.
"Ha!" Eiko laughed, lunging at me. "You discarded your weapon!"
Eiko brought his sword for another swing. I sidestepped it, sending my knee into his face.
He stumbled backwards, blood running down his nose. Before he could get his bearings, I grabbed him and threw him into the ground.
I stepped on his chest, grabbing his sword and throwing it away. "Yield."
"N-no." He coughed.
"Yield. Don't make me do it." I replied.
"Never...you bastard chea-!" He started to yell.
He never finished as I sent a punch straight into his face, knocking him completely out. As soon as he loses, he tries to accuse me of cheating. What an asshole.
"E-Eiko Nakamura has been knocked out, K-Ken Kage has won the match..." The first announcer stated in surprise.
"What...just happened?" The second announcer audibly asked, shocked to his core.
