The physical exam is here. Me, Eric, and Lily all stood about with the other students who had passed the test and awakened their Arcana. We were all in the courtyard, waiting.

Soon, the teachers would tell us the instructions and the exam would start.

"Can I see your sword?" Lily asked.

Woah! Hold on, let's get some more context here!

"Sure." Replied Eric. He manifested his Arcana into his hand, revealing a vibrant, golden European sword.

"Wow." Lily gasped. "So this is an S Rank in person..."

"Yeah..." Eric chuckled, slightly embarrassed.

"Surprised you got an S Rank?" I grinned.

"Yeah..." Eric repeated.

I can see that two days haven't numbed the shock of the situation.

"Welcome everybody to the physical exam." Aiko stated. "The exam will last for an hour, where you will do your best to destroy as many robots as possible. But do not worry, the robots are nonlethal and we have a kill switch if needed."

"This exam will be inside of a smaller, condensed version of Tokyo, and the robots will be modeled as different D to C Rank monsters." Aiko explained. "You may team up or stay alone, but you are not allowed to fight or injure other students."

"Now." She snapped her fingers. "Let's begin."

All of the sudden, we started to descend. Students gasped in surprise, but I knew this was coming due to the anime.

The courtyard started to descend downwards into the earth, revealing a city under the highschool.

If you didn't realize how major Legacy High is, now you know. They have a HUGE budget, and most of the best adventurers come from this school.

It's a big deal.

"This is incredible..." Eric gasped, gazing in awe at the small city around us.

"They had this under the courtyard?!" Exclaimed Lily.

"This is cool..." I muttered.

I would have never seen a sight like this back in my old life. Perks of living in a world that's years in the future, I guess.

The courtyard fully descended, now a park in the middle of the city.

"The exam starts now." Aiko stated. "I look forward to see what you are capable of."

Eric looked at me. "Team?" He asked.

I smiled. "Sure."

He then turned to Lily. "Team?"

Lily smiled. "I would love to!"

Eric, you're just digging your grave more and more. Soon she's going to fall for you, and then you've got one yandere after you.

Sorry buddy.

We ran in a direction away from the other students, determined to defeat as many monster robots as possible.

Unfortunately I don't know what the average amount of destroyed robots are, but since we have a whole hour it must be fairly high.

Being in this group with Eric and Lily will let me easily blend in. Hopefully I'll be able to hide in their shadows and stay fairly undetected by the teachers.

A robot monster turned onto our street, growling as we manifested our Arcanas. It had a gray body with blood red eyes. It's teeth were sharp, and it looked like a wolf.

Except, a large wolf. The size of a car.

I read about this one.

Lupinus, a C Rank Monster.

Now a C Rank monster would usually be extremely dangerous for new Arcana wielders like us, if it wasn't a robot and slightly nerfed, and the fact we have three of us and one of us has an S Rank Arcana.

TL;DR - It won't be a problem. It will just take all three of us.

"Lily, you attack from behind. Ken and I will attack the front." Eric ordered. "We'll pincer it."

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Eric is kind of a natural leader. There was never an explanation as to why however.

"But how do I get behind it?" Lily asked.

The Lupinus growled.

"We'll distract it." Eric replied.

Lily nodded. "Alright."

Eric and I rushed at the Lupinus. It barked at us, running towards us as well. Time seemed to slow down as I felt my heart racing. This is different. I've never fought with powers before.

Deep breath. You can do this.

If you want to survive, you'll have to fight.

And you most definitely won't go down without one.

Eric slashed Excalibur at it, which the Lupinus caught with it's teeth. I raised Fenrir, slicing it across the eye. It roared in pain, jumping backwards.

It roars in pain? That's an advanced robot.

Lily then appeared from behind, jumping onto the wolf and stabbing her dagger into it's neck. It struggled, shaking around and trying to fling Lily off.

But in this process it let go of Excalibur.

Eric rushed at the Lupinus, using his sword to slice it's head off, taking one monster out for the party.

The head fell down, revealing the mechanics inside.

Like I said, HUGE budget.

We then started to head forwards, continuing to explore the mini-city. It wasn't long before we discovered more monsters.

This time there was more, but they were a D Rank species, so it wouldn't be that hard.

They had a gelatinous body, and were in the shape of a blob. We all know what this is.

Yes, a slime. The most starter species of enemy that you can have in a fantasy world.

They were fairly large, as about as large as a bike.

They started to hop towards us.

Menacingly.

I reside my hand, igniting it in fire. I hurled the fire at the slimes, creating a fireball. The fireball hit a slime, making it burn. The slimes continued to jump towards us.

Why? Slimes have a weakness to magic, so it should have easily destroyed it!

Oh, that's right. They're robots.

Fuck.

Eric rushed forwards, easily slashing his slime in half. If you couldn't tell, Excalibur has some extreme cutting power.

Lily jumped onto it, stabbing it's knife into the top of it multiple times. I'd you couldn't tell, she likes the "jump on and stab" technique.

I just stabbed my axe into the top of the slime. I then started to hack at the slime until it was only pieces of mechanics.

"How did you control your element so well?" Eric asked in wonder.

"I'm awesome." I answered.

Lily rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure."

"Oi, you want a fight?" I growled.

Of course, we're joking.

At least I think we are...

We continued on our way, hacking and slashing an stabbing at any monsters that appeared. Most of them were Lupinuses or Slimes, but every once in a while we got a Crabber.

A Crabber is a large crab the size of a bike, so about the same size of the slimes, and is also a D Rank monster. They were easy.

And whoever named it "Crabber" needs better naming sense.

And then we finally discovered a different one from those three. It's a...

A Minotaur.

Wait, a Minotaur?!

Why the fuck is a Minotaur here?!

A Minotaur is a B RANK MONSTER!!!!

"Oh fuck." I muttered.

"A Minotaur?!" Exclaimed Lily.

"Pincer maneuver. Minotaurs a known to be fast, so we won't be able to run away. If we can surround and pincer it, maybe we can easily take it out." Eric theorized.

Looks like he's also done some research.

"Good plan." I nodded.

The Minotaur was...well you probably know why it's called the Minotaur. A man with a bull head and legs. 7 feet tall, and wields a large sword.

That's the Minotaur. And it's scary.

Eric bravely rushed at it, clashing his smaller blade with the Minotaur's larger blade. Eric is strong despite his small and skinny frame and can actually match the strength of the Minotaur for a short time.

But only a short time, because he's no superhuman. At least, not yet.

Lily sneaked behind, jumping into the Minotaur's back and digging her knife into it's spine.

I told you, she likes the "jump on and stab" technique.

The Minotaur roared in pain, and as Lily pulled the knife out spewed...blood?

Blood?

Excuse me, let me just check something for a second. Since when have robots had blood? Blood?

"It's not a robot!" Lily exclaimed.

"What?!" Gasped Eric, jumping back from the Minotaur.

The Minotaur roared, violently shaking Lily off. She fell onto the floor with a large thud. The impact was so strong, I could hear it. Lily groaned as she laid on the floor.

She looked up, only to see the Minotaur raising it's sword to cut her in half. There would be no kill switch activation by the teachers. Because this is a real B Rank Monster. This would be it. Death.

"No!" Eric yelled, rushing forwards.

He raised his blade overhead, blocking the Minotaur's large sword. Eric struggled to keep it up, his legs shaking violently as he held the sword back.

"Eric..." Lily gasped, hearts starting to grow in her eyes.

Oh, so that isn't just an anime thing. The yandere-ness has started.

And while Eric was struggling to save Lily, what's as I doing? I'm just standing here to the side, like an idiot. My friend is in danger. Correction. Friends, now including Lily hopefully, are in danger. And I'm not doing anything.

Once again, I feel useless.

Useless...

Useless...

Useless...

Useless...

USELESS?!

I tightly gripped Fenrir in my hand, rage bubbling under my skin. I threw it straight at the Minotaur. It implanted itself in the Minotaur's eye, causing it to back up while roaring in pain.

Eric gasped in relief, falling to his knees.

The Minotaur glared at us, now with an axe stuck in his eye.

Shit.

The Minotaur was about to rush at us when an explosion rocked itself straight through his body, creating a hole in his chest.

The Minotaur fell down, revealing the Principal behind him.

"Are you guys ok?" She worriedly asked.

"We're okay, now. What the fuck was that?" I demanded.

"A rift opened up in the middle of the city, releasing three Minotaurs. This was the final one." Aiko "I'm terribly sorry."

"Is everyone alright?" Eric asked.

"One person broke a leg. Otherwise than that, the rest of the students are okay." Reassured Aiko.

"That's the end of the physical exam. Meet up back at the middle. The robots have been shut down, so don't worry about having to fight anything." Aiko stated. "I'm going to do a quick search if there any students missing."

She then ran off in another direction.

That...never happened in the anime. At least, not to Eric.

Us three struggled to hold off a B Rank Monster for a couple seconds. The Principal killed it in one hit.

...

I need to get stronger.
