I couldn't believe it. Even though it was the next day and I was now flying towards the island with the others, I still couldn't help thinking about it.
My Principal...is my godmother?!
Seriously?!
You're telling me that she's so close to my parents that they would trust her to become my guardian if they died?!
The final words she said to me before I left her office still rang into my head. "Be careful."
No wonder she acted familiar with me.
"Ken...you okay? You've been spacing out a lot." Erica commented from besides me.
The first things the girls did before we got onto the plane was have multiple matches of rock-paper-scissors to see who got to sit next to me.
Erica won, and the others stared in envy.
"I'm fine." I sighed. "Just...thinking."
My parents...my parents?
Do I even get to count them as my parents?
Who are they? Why are they always busy? How are they super close to the Principal of the most prestigious adventuring school in Japan?
Could it be that they're adventurers?
"How long is this flight again?" Yui groaned. "I'm bored..."
"We are currently one hour in, and there's eight more to go." Iris stated.
"Ugh..." Yui groaned.
Coming with Erica and I were Iris, Irene, Amber, Lily, Bianca, and Yui.
The flight was going to be a long one. Usually I'd go to sleep for a trip, but I'm not now. I don't know if the Children Of Lupercio somehow find a way to attack this plane or something.
Better safe than sorry.
"Isn't there anyyyyything to do?" Yui asked.
"You could fall asleep." Suggested Lily.
"But that's booooring." Yui responded.
"Well, it's not my problem." Muttered Lily, sitting back down into her seat.
She pulled a blanket over herself, before falling asleep in her seat.
"No fair..." Groaned Yui, the person sitting next to Lily.
While Erica and I sat together, Yui and Lily were sitting in the same row. Iris sat next to Irene while Amber sat next to Bianca.
Speaking of which, Amber and Bianca were currently playing the game "chopsticks". A game where players extend a number of fingers from each hand and transfer those scores by taking turns to tap one hand against another.
"I swear I'll beat you..." Growled Amber.
"Okay." Bianca emotionlessly replied.
"Another one!" Amber replied as they started another round.
Wow, she really sucks at chopsticks.
A sudden weight on my shoulder took me by surprise. Looking over, Erica was now sleeping against my shoulder as Iris and Irene stared in an even larger envy.
It wasn't long until the other others fell asleep as well and I was the only one left. I felt a little tired, but I shook it off.
The perfect chance to strike would be when everyone's asleep. I'd rather not give them the chance.
I scrolled through my phone, looking at the news. Especially at the upcoming YSquare games. Some of these sound awesome...
I'll have to play them after the Demon King is defeated.
My phone lightly vibrated in my hand. It was the Principal. I clicked the "accept call" button, bringing the phone to my ear.
"Hey." I whispered, not wanting to wake the others up.
"Hey." Principal lightly said. "Others are asleep?" She asked.
"Yeah." I nodded, forgetting that she couldn't see me. "What's up?"
"I just wanted to call in and check up on you. Just to see if anything had happened to you guys during the plane ride." She stated.
"What, like the Children Of Lupercio attacking us?" I asked, surprised she thought of the same possibility.
"I meant something similar to the Bermuda Triangle mysteries but sure." She replied. "Anyways, just be careful. This is completely uncharted land. It could be filled with monsters from rifts that had opened up there."
"I'll keep that in mind." I stated.
"Good." She responded. "Just call if anything happens, and call once you get there. You should arrive in two more hours."
"Alright." I replied. "Thanks."
"You're welcome. Goodbye." She stated.
"Goodbye." I restated.
The phone hung up.
Two more hours, huh? I better go over the plan one more time.
Call Principal once we get there. Then we'll see if we can find anything, and we'll call her if we do. If we don't, call her. If something happens, call her.
Everything has to do with calling her.
I started scrolling through my phone once more. I put in some Skybuds as I started to listen to random videos.
The wonders of having money. To think that one day I'd be able to buy Skybuds. If only I could have given Kira this kind of life...
I shook the thoughts out of my head as I focused into he video. There's no point in thinking about her and becoming depressed again. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do right now.
Wait for me Kira. One day I want you to introduce Irene and the others to you.
It was almost two hours later when an announcement ran through the speakers, lightly telling us to wake up.
We were about to land.
"What's going on...?" Groaned Erica, taking her head off of my shoulder.
"We're arriving." I stated.
"No way!" Gasped Yui. "Look at this view!"
We looked outside the windows to see us descending down onto a beautiful island, but something else caught my attention.
There seems to be something in the middle of the island. I could barely see it due to the angle and all of the trees in the way.
The plane landed onto the island, allowing us to depart. We all had backpacks with necessary items inside in case we needed to camp out.
You never know what could happen.
We watched as the plane flew away, now leaving us alone on the island. I called Principal, letting her know that we had arrived before hanging up.
"So...now what?" Lily asked.
"I think I saw something in the middle of the forest." I stated. "That could be something."
"Then let's start there." Irene nodded.
We started to trek through the forest, traveling inbetween the dense forest towards it's middle.
"We haven't encountered a single monster yet." Started Iris.
"It's strange." Bianca commented.
We continued to trek our way through. It was finally about an hour into our journey that we finally happened across a clearing.
And in the middle of that clearing was a tall, lone tower made out of gray stones. Vines climbed up it's sides like snakes, almost reaching the top. It's been here for a long time.
The Tower Of Avalon.
A single wooden gate was at the bottom of the tower, with a stone circle in front of it. We cautiously approached it, analyzing it.
"What is this?" Irene muttered.
"Look, here's a tablet!" Yui exclaimed.
We looked at the tablet, where an inscription was placed.
"Chosen from the strings of fate. The legends of old incarnate. The circle of the vanishing island leads to the future. Approach, young one." Erica stated.
"You can read that?" Iris asked.
You can't?
"Yeah." Erica muttered. "Weird..."
She glanced over to the stone circle on the ground, before walking over and standing on it.
Nothing happened.
"Well, guess that was a-" Erica started to say before a loud sound infiltrated our ears.
The wooden gate to the tower opened as the stone circle under Erica glowed a golden yellow color.
"Erica..." Gasped Iris. "You're a Chosen..."
Erica looked at us in shock before looking towards the tower. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as she came to a decision.
"I'll be back." She stated.
"Are you sure? It could be dangerous." Irene asked.
"Yes. Something's drawing me inside." Erica stated, looking back towards it. "I'll be back soon. I promise."
I knew she would be okay, but I still felt a little worried.
"Be careful." I stated.
Erica smiled sweetly at me. "Of course."
She then turned around, and walked into the tower.
