Kill woke up with the warmth of the thing he was resting on, it was softly moving up and down. What? Why is the ground moving?
"...ddess of fertility also known as the Lunar Nymph was known to bring children into the world... Hah?? What kind of retard thinks babies come from the moon goddess?"
His eyes shot open when he heard the familiar voice of someone speaking just right next to his ear. That's when he realized he was literally sleeping on a living creature, or in simpler words, a human.
"....!" he immediately stood up and pulled away from her embrace and tried to back away as far as possible, how shameful.
"What? You were calling me Mom not too long ago before you passed out. Clinging on to me, that is." Avy didn't take her eyes off the book she was reading entitled 'Miracles of this World'.
"H-how long have you been here, lady?"
"Almost two hours. I wasn't really planning on staying for long because I only wanted to see if you were doing fine. And maybe give you books?" she said and get up from being seated on the ground.
"If you don't read books, well, you should. I considered that our alphabet might not be the same, but after reading a little bit about where you came from, I found out that we do share the same alphabet, which is great, to be honest. I didn't know you guys came from... the South?"
"Beast People resides in the southern islands isolated from humans." Kill answered. "And I do read books." he added and took the books she took out from her bag.
"You sound as mature as me when I was your age. If that's the case, I wouldn't really mind taking you as my son."
"Really?" his golden eyes shined bright when he heard those words from her. Avy was of course, surprised by his response. She wasn't really joking but she didn't think he would take it seriously.
"Wouldn't your Mom get mad if she finds out you're looking for a new Mom?" Avy asked with her left brow raised.
"I don't have a Mom."
"You were saying Ma while you were asleep."
"Ma is the one who raised me. I never had a mother." Kill said, looking at her with a melancholic gaze, contrary to his cold facial expression.
"Isn't she basically your mom then?"
"Ma is a boy."
It took a couple of seconds for Avy to piece everything together. "His name is Ma, is that what you were saying?"
"I don't know his full name though, all I know is Ma." he stated with a small pout causing Avy to chuckle at how incredibly normal he sounded, like children his age should.
"You're a really smart kid, I like smart people. It's a shame I can't go around often and visit you." she said.
"Why?"
"You see, I'm not really allowed to go out, even though people don't know my face, they would instantly recognize me if they see the color of my eyes. They might tell on my father, he would tighten the security and that would make it harder to go out." she explained carefully, she usually talks in an impolite manner but it seems like she has taken a liking to the smart beast child that she answered nicely.
"Don't you just need to change the color?"
"It would be great if I can."
"I can do it. I can change the color of your eyes."
Avy looked at him intriguingly, she wasn't skeptical that such ability exists but she wasn't certain that a small child the age of five could control his powers so early. She spent most of her time reading and she came across something about people not controlling their powers till they reach ten to twelve years old.
'But then again. This kid is smarter than most people. It is not surprising if he's a young prodigy.' she thought.
"Okay then. Show me." she told him with a sly grin.
"Come closer." said the child which she did right away. She bent over his level and waited for him to do something.
Kill touched the sides of her head. "Do I have your permission?" he asked.
"Absolutely."
"Alter." the moment those words came out of his mouth, his eyes glowed and so did Avy's. It took no less than two seconds before he let go. It was pretty much the same, other than the fact that her eyes reflected the color of gold like Kill's eyes and not the color of blood.
"You can see it after you come back home. I don't have a mirror here."
"I don't feel anything special, I guess it doesn't have any side effect. You did a great job." stated Avy before standing up.
"I-if you want to change it back, you can just chant 'Alter' because I already cast magic on you after I received your permission." Kill was flustered by her compliment, it was long ago since he last heard one.
"I'll get going then. I'll come back soon." Avy went to pick up her bag before turning her back to leave.
"I'll be back so..." she faked a cough. "Take care of yourself." she said and started to walk away.
But the word Kill said made her halt.
"Mama....?"
She was speechless for a second or two before she decided to respond.
"Hmm?" she hummed without looking back.
The child's face brightened when Avy responded even after he called him such all of a sudden. But she did say she would be happy to take him as a son because he's smart.
"Go home safe." he said with a smile. Avy just raised her hand and waved it a little before continuing to walk away.
Kill couldn't contain his happiness and quickly picked up the book that was given to him.
He needs to become smarter.
"Mama likes smart people."

"The Pillar of Flames and his son are away, so is the War Hero while the Imperial Commander is doing his duty guarding the Palace and the Emperor. That leaves the second prince with mere servants and a couple of knights with him. This is a perfect opportunity to injure the Mighty Kriseon." an unknown man with a nasty smile said hiding in the shadows.
"And in addition to that, if he was killed in that estate, it'll create a stain on the relationship between the Emperor and his strongest weapon. How fortunate." he added.
"Should we spare the Youngest of the Arkwrights, My Lord?" a man clothed in full black kneeling before him stated.
"I heard the first Lady born in that Family is also there."
"That is right, My Lord."
"Make sure that the Duke would lose his mind by just looking at his daughter's corpse, make her death as lowly as possible. I will be expecting good news by your return."
"Yes."
~~~
"Welcome back, My Lady."
It was already almost sunset when Avy returned to the estate. Her body was worn out like the last time she went out for a trip, but this time was different, she wasn't hungry hence she went straight to her bed to lie down and rest.
"Leave." she said without giving her personal maid a glance and flopped on the bed feeling exhausted.
But before Mariel could step out of her room, she spoke "Hey Marie."
"Yes, My Lady?"
"I have a kid now."
"Pardon?"
Mariel didn't get an answer because Avy has already fallen asleep. She realized that her lady won't be able to answer her thus she decided to vacate the room.
.
.
Everyone in the Arkwright Estate was already asleep except the knights guarding the surroundings. The moon shone brightly and only the sound of nature could be heard, it was already midnight when Avy woke up from her sleep.
She felt refreshed after getting a couple of hours rest but the thing that made her open her eyes was not because she was well-rested, but because of the warm sensation, she could feel throughout her body. It was as if she was bathing in warm water, on the bright side, it wasn't painful.
"I feel strange." she said to herself, she still didn't feel the cold even though she was only wearing her nightwear that was obviously thinner than her normal clothes.
She stood up from being seated on her bed and went to switch on the illumination stone that gives light to her room.
"Oh right. I forgot to see if the kid's magic really worked." she went to the mirror and sat in front of it. Her eyes were of course, red as they should be, that is because she did what Kill told her before entering the Estate.
"Alter." she stared intensely at how her eye color would change and like what she expected, it really did. It took a second or two for the red to quickly turn into gold.
"No wonder no one tried to pursue science. If they have this kind of ability, they don't have to tire themselves just to discover the power that humankind could get their hands on if only they make use of their brain more." she simpered
"How pitiful."
Unaware of the incoming danger that was on its way to her that night, Avy spent hours scribbling on her notebook, drawing things here and there, of course, labeling them in French, her mom's native language just in case someone finds her belongings.
"So magic stones only react to those with mana? It's not obvious that everything in this world goes in favor of the female lead isn't?" Avy laughed as she reads the contents of the book about magic stones.
"I want these." she stated. The world she was currently in may not be crafted because of the author's lack of knowledge about science but because of their vast imagination. Magic stones were just mere examples of how the creator replaced science with things that entered their creative mind.
There are stones to produce heat, wind, ice, light and electricity, and many more things that Avy wants to explore. She has always been fascinated by things she couldn't explain, she either find explanations or lives with them, using the unexplainable to her advantage. It has always been her joy to make use of her brain and ability to understand, build and uncover new things. Maybe by combining her knowledge of her past life, and the wonderful existence in her current world, she'll be able to create more to satisfy herself.
"Unknown things are marvelous as always."
It was already three in the morning when she made up her mind to go back to bed. She would usually stay up until morning, reading books and articles as she does in the past, but she already finished the books that Mariel brought to her room and she has no idea where she can find more of them. Maybe she'll just tell her to bring her more or just ask where she can find them on her own.
She tucked herself in and went back to sleep. She didn't bother to close the door of her balcony because she still feels hot and wanted some cold air to enter inside her room.
Just as she was bout to give in to her exhaustion, the voice that had been bothering her made itself known once again.
"ฬคкє ยק ยภкภ๏ฬภ ร๏ยl. ๏קєภ א๏ยг єאєร."
Avy jolted awake and the first thing that she saw was a figure of a person towering over her and the blade of the knife that reflected the moonlight coming from her open balcony.
Her body reacted on its own and rolled away, falling on the floor from her bed. If she did not move, she could've been stabbed by the person who was trying to kill her.
"Fuck! MARIE!!" she shouted as loud as she can and grabbed the vase on her small table and threw it at the man dressed in all black. But he dodged it without any effort.
She heard the man snicker as the vase crashed on the marble floor creating a loud sound that echoed through the room.
"Happy huh? I would've caught that if I were you. You'd be very lucky if none of the people inside this house heard that sound." it was now Avy's turn to laugh cockily as she studied the situation.
It is true that she knows basic self-defense, but even in her original body that was obviously more used to moving around, she could barely win against an opponent a little larger than her. But Avy, being a noble lady who does nothing on a daily basis, is clearly weaker and more fragile than a twink like her.
"Who sent you–" her attempt of distracting the assassin to buy time just before someone comes to her rescue failed as the man pounced onto her with the knife aiming for her neck.
Of course, she tried to dodge all the attacks and best as she can. She was able to catch the arm that was holding the weapon before sneakily kicking him on the groin.
"Ugh!" the man groan in pain before dropping on the ground. Avy used that opportunity to run to the door so that she escape but luck wasn't on her side. The man grabbed the hem of her night gown and pulled her with him.
"Fuck you! That hurts you bitch!" she shouted when she fell on her back, the assassin were on top of her, trying to stab her chest with the knife, she was struggling to keep it away but she didn't have the strength to do so, thankfully she was able to push it on the side and it only wounded her arm.
She reached out to the shards of the broken vase and stabbed the man on his leg as hard as she can that the the shard even cut her hand. He dropped the knife and it slid right under the bed.
Avy did everything she could and kicked the man with so much force and stood up to get away.
But it was all in vain.
"AH!!!"
The assassin grabbed her by the neck, it was a good thing that he no longer has the knife. She was slowly dying from lack of oxygen, she couldn't fight back because her body has reached its limits. It seems like she was only able to move because of the adrenaline running throughout her body.
The man's long nails were digging on the skin of her neck, tightly gripping her to death.
Her eyes were slowly closing, but Avy being the fierce woman she was, rather than begging for her life, spat on the face of the man holding her neck.
"Burn in hell, fucker."
Just after she said those words with burning hatred in her eyes, a single drop of blood fell on the floor followed by blood coming from the wounds inflicted by the assassin's nails.
The blood that left her body bursted into flames.
