Eva stiffened her posture with a narrowing gaze, eyeing the both of us with peculiarity. I stood. "We have no time to chatter, miss Eva. As much as I despise your ship and your captain, I do not want to be plunged into the ocean," the heavy tone in my voice faced determination, a hint of eagerness, and a small beg.
I was not ready to meet my fate in the cerulean seas, not now, not ever. "We must formulate a plan, we need go to the nearest island and stay at rest there unless you all want death," I explained, scattering the crippled, blank scroll on the desk.
Eva tilted her body to the side with a brow raised, I looked. "May I, madam?" I asked with my fingertips touching the felt tip of the fountain pen. She nods, "Proceed."
I began writing down a simple, yet decisive map that surrounded the seven islands. In a foggy memory do I remember the little maps that my father makes me scribble until I could remember each island in which direction. Mount L'art, Seashore reef, Black pearl island, and so forth.
"I've seen one of the islands to the west, Mount L'art but we've passed by that. Do you have a compass, Miss Eva?" I asked she nods. "Heading to the north." Eva briefly answered.
I turned to face the scribbled scroll, "Black Pearl Island," Jack read with a hint of panic, "(Y/n)! We can't go there, it's too deadly!" he said in a strike of a ringing dread.
I turned to him, "Would you rather die into the unknown? In that deep, deep trench or at a place where we can face the possibilities and have a chance to survive?" I asked with a shiver.
Jack took a step forward with a balled fist, "How would you know, (y/n)? How could you say we can't survive this?" he argued.
I arched my brows and stiffened my shoulders, "You don't get it, Jack! You don't!" I screamed in dismay. The tension I've felt was already enough to get me to my breaking point. With teary eyes did my knees broke down onto the creaking floor wood.
"What do I not get, (y/n)? Help me so I can help you!" he responded with a shaky breath. "Enough!" the door slamed open as we all looked up at Kyriella glaring down at me with cuts on her arms and face.
"I cannot last longer with your blasphemies," she spat and turned to Jack, "You, boy. If you want to know what you dragged yourself into, then you must keep an open mind." she tapped at the side of her head.
Kyriella pushed the door close with her boot and took the scroll from my hands, "We're going to Black Pearl. What we're facing right now is too deadly, almost impossible to withstand." she explained, circling the island with black ink.
"What...I-- I don't understand! What are we facing, exactly?" Jack questioned at a lost. Eva and Kyriella looked keenly into my eyes, "That, I don't understand either," Kyriella loathe. "What is it with you that he wants?" she pointed at me.
She huffed and crossed her arms, leaning on one side. "Whatever he wants from you, I'll keep. From now on, I'll be keeping an eye on ye' lass. As long as I don't have that tailed-beast, you're going nowhere." Kyriella cackled a laugh.
"You can't keep her here!" Jack yelled, taking a stride towards them but soon froze in place as Eva held a pistol right at his head.
"Suit yourself, boyo. Then we'll let you be that creatures dinner." Eva glared with a cold remark. I pushed Jack back with a hand and sighed, not because of the ruckus but because of the tiresome. I was not able to afford another fight.
"Fine. I'll be your bait," I answered, "But just know I'm not doing this for your entertainment, this is for my sister." I sneered.
