The gush of the waves sunk me deeper inside the tranquil, steady waters. My mind came afloat, with my body feeling lighter with every bubbles that came out of my mouth like droplets of rain. I was floating with the waters drowning me without a sight of my lifeless fingers.
My legs wanted to move, to swim back to the emitting light of the moonlight from above. A piercing scream was heard from the ship on the distance, a blurred physique of a woman getting dragged to the ocean by a young, tailed man.
The sirenizing hum of a man echoed through the ocean, the ethereal sound lingering around me with penetration as I sunk farther to the riddling shallows.
I narrowed my gaze from across my stilled vision to perceive the sight of a man, as he got closer the louder I heard his echoing words. He sang the same lullaby, the one who he had Ella between his ghostly grasps. Had I knew from the start, that it was he who had put this fate upon us. My mind did not lie.
In a blink did two hands caressed my cheeks softly. My sealed lips broke apart to see Merrik at sight, woefully singing each words with delicate care. "Wherever you may be, I will find you from ashore, little bird. I will drown you in the deepest of oceans, for you are mine." he said with certainty with emerald eyes that shun down to a dim.
He let's go of my cheekbones, the ocean coming to a whirl from my frozen body. I shook my head, wanting to scream in protest but was far from being able to protest. The sound of the waters relinquished through the haunting echoes, the sight of Merrik ceasing to exist as I fluttered my eyes open with my mouth ajar.
Had the next day come in such sudden notice with my mind pondering at flow from what had happened yesterday, the experience of being held captive by a mythical man was a preposterous thought.
Without hesitation, I stood up from the bed and ran down to the flight of stairs. I opened the door from the kitchen to be hit by a scent of freshly baked bread, "Good morning, lady (y/n)," sir Barron chuckled to himself without a bother to make eye contact as he kneaded the dough.
He craned his head to the side with an edging smile, lifting his arm to see a crumpet at hand. "Care for a crumpet, lady (y/n)?" he asked but I only brushed it off and walked forward with crossed arms, plastering a disturbed look while I darted my gaze down on the concrete floor. "No thanks, sir." II muttered out with a following sigh.
"Has the lady slept at the wrong side of the bed? You look as grumpy as those old folks I tell ye'!" he joked, laughing at himself while I responded with an eye roll. I fidgeted with my fingertips with a foot tapping on the ground lightly while I pondered over my questions.
"Sir Barron, I think I know who paralyzed Ella." I said, making him stop from humming while he kneaded the dough. He turned around with flour on his hand and pat it on his apron with brows lifted, "Have ye' lady (y/n)? And who might that be?"
"It's Merrik, sir Barron! I saw him in the ocean and he's....well..." I stumbled under my words, unable to find the right words to describe the hypnotizing man. "He's like a mermaid, sir Barron! With this humongous blue tail!" I said in exasperation, pushing my arms apart as to foresee to how long it was but failed for my little charade was not how it was like from the depiction on my head.
Sir Barron only laughed in quite a yell, shaking his head slowly while he turned around and took the basket of freshly baked bread. He turned back to me and pushed it forward, catching the basket with open arms as he smiled. "You're quite creative, lady (y/n) but I believe no such tale. It's better for me to see it to believe." he winked and pushed me back gently with a palm.
"But sir Barron, I'm telling you the truth! I definitely saw Merrik! I know he's the one who cursed Ella!" I frowned, raising my voice up high but he was from being persuaded with my tone as he only dismissed me with a hand. "Run along now, lady (y/n). You wouldn't want sir Merrik waiting for ye' arrival at the bakery." sir Barron snickered, but I did not laugh but only glared.
"Very funny, sir Barron." I said in a sarcastic tone, turning to my heels and leaving the kitchen.
