On the second day of her school, Eleanora made sure to wake extra up early. She wasn't going to get late today just because her brothers were too lazy and nonchalant about getting late.
She hurriedly made her way into the dining room but her feet started to hesitate at the sight of Alexander present in the room.
She was considering her options about walking back to her room. She wanted to be anywhere but near her father.
Just as she took a step back, a hand fell on her shoulder. Slightly flinching at the sudden move, she slowly glanced behind to see Damon.
He gave her a reassuring nod and led her inside.
Alexander looked up the moment Nora and Damon entered the room. His dark gaze bored into them in such a way that Nora could almost feel prickling sensation under her skin.
Her father was scary.
"G-good morning father." Nora greeted him nervously out of respect.
He didn't even bother to hide his grimace at her stuttering.
"Morning daughter. Try to speak clear next time instead of these pauses. You know it sounds 'pathetic'." Damon's hands gripped the back of Nora's chair tightly.
His eyes held a menacing glare directed clearly at his father who just ignored it while pretending to be busy reading his newspaper.
Nora frowned. Her mood turned incredibly down. Her father had called her pathetic second time and it really hurt her for some weird reason.
Usually she would ignore what others think about her but she couldn't handle this direct word that was said at her face twice.
Her frown slowly faded when Damon softly grabbed her small hand in his comforting big hand.
She gave him a small smile.
Others joined them soon. William was the only one absent today because he went to some business conference late last night.
He would probably be back by the evening today.
After finishing breakfast quick, Nora took her leave along with Vincent who offered to give her a ride because twins weren't going to school with her due to some work.
Nora looked at her school building while taking a deep breath in. Without her brothers, she felt lonely within these all people but she hoped to find a friend for herself.
She, somehow, managed to find herself in a different place. At different hallway. Just to her luck, the small map that was given to her was also in her locker.
She let out a small internal whine and tried to search her locker. She was standing in front of number 456 but her locker number was 204.
She followed the backwards path tracing her footsteps back but she paused when a loud sound of something falling reached her ears.
"YOU MUTE BITCH! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!" She heard a shrill voice screaming.
Nora gulped. She wanted to leave but her feet stayed rooted at place for a minute and then led her between the crowd of students. She squeezed her way past in between them to witness the scene.
Her eyes fell on a girl who was laying curled up on the floor while three girls who looked like the perfect definition of mean girls kicked her.
The girl didn't raise a voice of protest or even she yelled at the pain of those harsh kicks, instead she just remained curl up and let the assault happen.
Nora was surprised to see the teachers who passed by them totally unaffected. Like it wasn't a new thing.
"AUGH! ARE YOU FUCKING NUMB TO PAIN OR SOMETHING?" The leader of the group who was a redhead girl with blue eyes sent a harsh kick directed at her chest that pushed her back to the lockers.
"ALRIGHT! THAT'S ENOUGH!" Eleanora raised her voice.
Everyone quietened down and looked at her with wide eyes. Some just chose to wisely walk away from the scene because they knew well enough about her family.
"Who the hell are you?" The redhead girl scoffed while crossing her arms over her chest and placed her foot on the beaten's girl back while deliberately putting pressure.
"A-arabella...She's H-h-hades and A-Angel's sister." Her minion tend to whisper in her ear but nervously said it out loud.
Whoever didn't know at first, gasped at the revelation. The hallway started clearing abruptly.
"So you are her, hmm. I don't want to hold any kind of resentment towards you. Take my advice and stay away from my business newbie." Arabella said while putting more pressure with her foot on the beaten girl's back with each word.
"If you think I would let you bully someone and keep my eyes closed, then you are wrong, Arabella." Arabella closed her fists but calmed down in next second.
"It would be fun to see you around." She scoffed and gave one last glare at the beaten girl at her feet.
Her whole group followed her out of there.
"Hey. Be careful." Panicking, Nora crouched down in front of the small girl who was starting to tremble due to some reason.
Suddenly she started to cough.
"Hey hey. Calm down." Nora soothed her hair down gently and patted her back.
Her eyes widened when she coughed out blood.
"Oh god. Y-you are bleeding. Let me take you to the nurse."
Nora was trying to get her up from the floor but she frowned when the girl shook her head and wiped the blood off her chin like it was nothing.
Slowly she looked up at her.
Her green emerald eyes made contact with Nora's dark eyes.
Nora was stunned seeing her eyes.
They were beautiful. For some reason, she could see the depth of pain hidden in them but the way she carried herself to stand up despite the pain or due to her stubbornness showed she was mentally strong if not physically.
That girl whose name Nora still didn't know looked back at her and gave her a small nod.
She was about to walk away but Nora called after her.
"Wait. Could you please help me? I'm kinda new and lost."
When that girl looked back and nodded faintly again, Nora smiled and ran after her.
"Thanks." She beamed up at her before getting a little uncomfortable at her own weird behaviour. She never reacted like that.
"Erm well I'm Eleanora."
They finally stood in front of her locker.
The girl nodded lightly again and opened her bookbag. She pulled out a small notepad and scribbled some thing over it with her slightly trembling hand that Nora noticed with concern.
She showed the notepad to her and Nora read what she had written.
"Anastasia!" She read out loud.
"That's such a pretty name." Nora smiled at her.
"Umm I hope we could hang out later. Only if you don't mind?"
Anastasia frowned and wrote something on her notepad again.
"Why would I want to be seen next to you?" This time it was Nora's turn to frown at these words.
"Why wouldn't I, Anastasia? There's nothing wrong with it."
Anastasia stared at her for a good minute lost in thought. Finally, she snapped out of her daze and wrote something on her notepad again.
Nora was wide-eyed when she finished reading the next lines.
"You are not a curse, Anastasia." To put emphasis on her words, she pulled Anastasia into a hug.
Anastasia flinched so hard in her embrace that Nora was concerned but she didn't pull away. Slowly Anastasia relaxed.
"You are a precious gem, Anastasia. You are not a curse." Nora said to make her point clear.
"Please don't think about yourself like this next time. So where's your first class?" Nora asked with a hopeful smile.
Anastasia showed her schedule to her. Nora skimmed through the paper with wide smile on her face.
"Oh yes. We have 3 out of 6 classes together. But how come I didn't see you yesterday?" She couldn't help but question.
"You skipped, ohh I see. Otherwise I wouldn't have missed your pretty eyes." Nora giggled.
She softly smiled seeing Anastasia's expressions soften for a moment.
She noticed that Anastasia was limping a bit but she didn't question it. Instead they walked in just silence.
They were incredibly late but for Nora atleast it was worth something unlike yesterday.
She might have made a new friend.
