Violet's POV:
"Remind me why we're doing this again? I forgot." I speak, clearly bothered by this meeting.
"Because we need more and perhaps better artillery." Alex quickly replies to me before continuing to explain his plan.
This wasn't a formal meeting, Blake's men weren't attending it.
It was just us. Alex, Sil, Jacob, Blake and me.
I was going to question something but Alex seemed to read my thoughts "And before you ask, Violet, the answer is no; we can't send our men to do this because it's something we have to do." He smirks, knowing he just read my thoughts like I was some opened book.
I nod my head and give up, finally listening to him talking.
"We won't have problems. Tonight we will only discuss with them about the artillery, which we'll receive a couple of days later." He pauses for an instant, before speaking again "If we fuck up tonight, they won't give us the artillery."
"Everybody understood?" Alex asks, his look satisfied when everyone in the room nods.
We all get up, ready to leave as the meeting's over.
Blake hasn't said a word for the whole meeting. He just nodded every time he agreed with Alex, so basically for the whole meeting.
I watch as everyone leaves and stop him as he's about to exit the room.
"Mr Ferreri?" I speak, waiting for him to turn around.
When he does, I can see his smirk.
"Calling me like you used to, when you hated me?" His tone amused.
"What makes you think I don't hate you anymore?" I speak, sitting on my chair and leaning my back, getting comfortable.
He takes a few steps towards me, before stopping in front of my chair and leaning with his arms on either side of it.
I feel his hot presence, he's too close.
"Just the way your body reacts to me, sweetie." He smirks before stepping away, as I finally feel like I can breathe.
"My body lies to you. It's part of the game, sweetie." I mock him, feeling a little wave of satisfaction rushing through me.
"I'm not touching you, I don't think you deserve it. Do you?" He speaks, I roll my eyes annoyed because he understood that I was putting on all this act just for him to touch me.
But I needed his touch. It was the only thing that could keep me sane in that moment.
"Fine. Don't touch me." I reply getting up from my seat and walking towards the door, not making it when he grabs my arm and pulls me back, close to him.
"Stop acting like a child. You're a grown woman, Violet. So act like it." He coldly states, before letting go of my arm and sitting on a chair behind him.
He wasn't wrong tho. I was acting like a kid.
"I will act like a grown woman when you will show that you're a grown man. Seriously? You are judging me? What about you, Blake?" I state in front of him, looking dead into his eyes.
"Your point?" He asks. The audacity this man has.
"I can't do this anymore." I mumble rubbing my forehead "You know what? Forget about it. I'm leaving." I speak loud enough for him to hear me.
I don't even bother looking at him as I reach the door and leave the room.
I quickly walk to the garage, grabbing the keys of the only car I missed. That sweet Range Rover.
I get inside, turning on the car and going out of the garage.
As I leave the mansion, I start to feel some sort of peace. Of serenity.
And finally, I speed onto the street.
I wasn't here for 2 years. But I did give signs.
There was this one night, I was staring at the ceiling, wondering what I was going to do the next morning. Or the next week. Perhaps month.
I decided to call him. I called Blake.
It was about 1 am when I did it, I wasn't really thinking, I just needed to hear his voice.
I assumed he wasn't asleep, since he doesn't sleep much.
The phone rang twice, before he picked up.
Flashback of the phone call
"Hello?" His beautiful voice spoke through my ear.
I remained silent, not knowing what to do. What to say.
"Who am I speaking to?" He spoke again after a few seconds.
It's me. It's Violet. I'm still here, under all the mess we've created. I'm still by your side.
That was all I wanted to say, but instead I kept my mouth shut.
I think he understood that it was me, he was no fool.
But I hung up before he could say anything else.
After all, I got what I wanted. To hear his voice again.
I pulled out the sim card and destroyed it, so that he couldn't track me.
I didn't sleep that night. Or the other nights.
(End of flashback.)
A tear drops from my eye, I quickly wipe it away before gripping the steering wheel.
Violet, you're going too fast. You should slow down.
My phone rings as Blake's name pops up on the screen.
I ignore his call. His texts. And again, his call.
He's leaving a lot of messages, probably too many.
As I look up from the screen I realise I'm almost hitting another car. How the fuck did I get on the other lane?
They honk, making me go back into the opposite lane in one swift motion. I hit the brakes, stopping at the side of the road.
I hit the steering wheel hard before I rest my head on it. I almost had a car crash.
My door swings open as I hear someone shouting at me.
"Are you fucking out of your mind? What the fuck were you thinking, Violet?" Blake's voice echoes through my ears. He followed me.
He grabs my body and pulls me out of the car, sitting me on the hood of the car.
"Are you hurt? Does it hurt somewhere?" He asks, grabbing my chin and making me look at him. His eyes are filled with worry.
I shake my head no. He sighs in relief, letting go of my chin and bringing his head up, looking at the sky for a moment.
"Grazie a Dio." He mutters before looking back at me.
("Thank God.")
I start laughing. I don't exactly know why.
I guess after what happened, the adrenaline makes me feel like this.
"You think this is funny?" Blake questions, his anger is kicking in. But I don't care.
"Kind of." I giggle before getting off the hood of the car.
He is fast enough to trap me, his arms on either side of the hood.
I sit back down, trying to keep a little distance between us.
I'm not laughing anymore.
"Why are you doing this?" He asks, sighing.
"Why am I doing what?" I question confused.
"This. Constantly trying to die. Why?" He asks again, furrowing his eyebrows.
Constantly trying to die. Am I really doing that?
"I'm not trying to die. And why are you following me?" I ask, curious to know.
"Oh don't act like you don't know." He says, turning his back on me and looking at the road in front of him.
"I'm safe now, you know." I say, getting up from the hood and entering the car again.
"Is it that hard for you to believe that I care about you?" He says, turning back to me.
I remain silent, looking into his eyes.
"I can't lose you again." He sighs.
Oh.
"You won't. But I need you to promise the same thing. That I won't lose you." I'm no longer looking at him, I can't.
"No one can hurt me, I-" He begins but I cut him off "Who knows, Blake? Maybe you're next. You run a goddamn Mafia, not a freaking bakery." I state annoyed. He knows I'm right.
"I promise." He says, before walking to his car which was parked behind mine.
"You better keep it." I speak to myself, closing the door and driving off.
___________
"Hey Alex, do you have a minute?" I question as I see my best friend training with knives.
He's always in this room, the training room.
"Sure, give me a second." He says, putting the knives back where they belonged and putting on a new t-shirt, since he was drenched in sweat.
"All yours." He says smirking as he approaches me.
I smile before speaking "I think it's better if I stay here tonight. You know, I don't feel like taking part of the mission. Especially since it's in a club."
He looks at me as I speak and nods.
"I understand. In fact, I should've thought about it. I'm sorry." He says bringing his hand on my shoulder and giving it a slight pat.
"Thank you." I smile, hugging him.
As I let go, I quickly get out of the training room and reach my bedroom.
I am so going to sleep tonight.
"Oh hey! Good thing you're here, help me choose a dress!" I hear Silvia's voice before I see her.
"Well hello to you, too." I laugh and she smiles.
She grabs my arm and drags me to her room, shutting the door behind me.
"Okay so, I can't choose between these two." She speaks, pointing at the two dresses on her large bed.
"If I take the black one, my whole back is fully exposed." She speaks "And if I take the argent one, my chest is a little exposed. This one actually hugs my body." She says, underlining the last part of the sentence.
"The argent one for sure." I say after looking at her choices.
"I knew it! That's my best friend." She says excited and I smile.
"You already chose, you just wanted me to confirm it." I say, not impressed at all.
She smiles and nods, before turning all her attention to me "What are you wearing tonight?"
"Oh, I'm not coming. I'm not really in the mood, you know." I look at her beautiful face as she nods, understanding.
"Well, keep your phone close. I'll update you about anything that happens. Especially if that involves Blake..." She smirks and I grab one of her pillows, throwing it at her.
We laugh. It's been a while since I've last felt like laughing this way.
