Third POV ( when Sky was ten )
Sky received a call from Jay last week. He told her that he will be coming to live in Dormitory town. She was happy to hear the news.
Now, Sky was getting ready to meet Jay and his family at the airport. Though, they didn't know she was coming and they didn't expect her to. Jay was arriving at 4 Am.
It was to dangerous for a ten year old girl to walk alone at the street at that time. Sadly, Sky never cared enough about danger to allow it to stop her from seeing her best friend.
Sky was trying her best to sneak out of her shared room and out of the orphan without anyone noticing. She safely opened the door without any noise and made it out.
The young girl was feeling extremely anxious, but luckily for her, she knew where to set her foot without causing any cracking noise.
She took the first step carefully while holding her shoes in her hand. When her foot touched the old wooden stairs, no sound was heard and that calmed her down a bit, though the journey was still long. She took the next step and then the next, and the next, but this time the sound that she so dearly didn't want to hear was heard and a loud cracking noise was released from under her foot.
Fear struck her heart. She didn't know what will happen to her if anyone found out what she was doing. Sky didn't move a muscle for two minutes straight. Once she thought it was safe she continued her stressful journey.
A bit of fear left her body when she stepped on the floor and was happily done with the stairs. Though, the journey wasn't over she still had to make her way to the back door. She moved carefully and swiftly through the furniture in the house.
She couldn't be happier when she saw the door in front of her. She reached out for the door knob. Though, once her delicate finger touched the knob she heard someone clear their throat.
Sky's eyes widened in fear and she couldn't move from her place, she was frozen with the inability of turning around to see who it was. Her instincts told her to open the door and run as fast as she could, but she knew it will only cost her more problems.
It took her a second to collect her courage and turn around, but one she did she released a breath when she saw a young boy no older than thirteen. " twenty bucks and I won't tell anyone."the boy whispered.
" fine. I will give you the money when I come back." Sky lowly whispered to the boy. He nodded his head and left.
Sky reached out for the door and this time no one interrupted her. She carefully closed the door and started her thirty minutes walk to the airport.
Sky knew how dangerous it was that late, specially when you lived at the bad side of town. So, she kept a small pocket knife in her front pocket and her hand was holding on it for dear life.
She kept walking until she finally reached the airport, if was huge. A lot of people would come to this airport because it was closed to most towns and some small cities around the area.
Sky kept walking until she finally found gate eight. She knew she was a bit late. Though, technically the plane was to land at four and until they get their bags, it could be four fifteen or four thirty.
'It was four twelve. So they most likely aren't out yet.' Sky thought. Sky stood in the airport waiting for them and when her legs got tiered she sat down by the stair.
Sky kept waiting until boredom took over, so she started listening to music. People came and others left, yet Jay didn't show up. It was eight in the morning when she decided to leave she knew people would start waking up soon and if the care taker doesn't find her, she will be in a lot of trouble.
She walked back to the orphanage. She was very tiered and once her head hit the pillow she fell in to deep sleep.
................................................
" sky" she heard a fainted whisper.
" hey,Sky wake up."
She felt someone shake her shoulder. Sky opened her eyes to see who was walking her gently. " Jay" Sky said, pulling Jay in to a hug. Jay laid his hand on the back of her head and gently kissed her forehead.
" I missed you." He whispered in her ear.
" me too." Sky replied.
Jay was worried about Sky when he realized that Sky wasn't hugging him as tightly as she usually would. He thought she might be hurt. He got out of the hug, and looked at her face, her cheeks, lips, looking for any wounds. He then looked at her exposed arms and when he didn't find anything, his eyes landed on her to ask her if she was fine. Though, when their eyes met Jay's eyes widened in horror. Sky's eyes lost it spark. He could recognize this look anywhere. It was a straight emotionless face. At that moment Jay knew that he was too late, that he couldn't save Sky. He was too late. Sky was already hurt.
