It's been around a day since Lexi was taken to the infirmary, and everyone is worried sick.
Everyone is silent in the lobby, you could almost hear a pin drop. Someone decides to speak up.
"Hey, X?" says Rachel.
X looks around the room carefully before he speaks. His boss is there.
"What are you looking at? One of your players is trying to ask you something, turn back around," says X's boss.
"Yes sir," says X as he sighs, "What do you need, Rachel?"
"Where exactly is Lexi? I know she's in the infirmary, but I think you only showed Joseph where that was."
"Did I? I didn't realize," says X with a tone that's hard to read.
"*What the hell? Why is he talking like this? Just yesterday, he was congratulating us with joy in his voice. Can he not talk freely?*" Rachel thinks to herself.
"Yes, you did. Could you tell us where the infirmary is too? I think it's only fair," says Rachel. There's a hint of cautiousness in her voice.
"Of course, as you said, it's only fair. The infirmary is near the cafeteria, you should find it easily," says X. His voice is numb.
As everyone gets up to find the infirmary, Blake starts speaking, "Why did you only tell Joseph?" His voice sounds dangerous.
"Joseph was the only one that asked," X says as he returns the same tone of voice as Blake.
"You are supposed to tell us when a new room opens up. Why didn't you?"
"Blake, just leave it. I'm confused on that too, but let's just be glad that he told us now," says Chase.
"I'm not doing that! I don't get why X is doing this, he's acting so bipolar! His mood is happy one second, and the next he's trying to get on our nerves!"
"Blake, I'm telling you, just leave it. Get up now. We're going to the infirmary," says Chase. His tone is more urgent. He knows why X acts so different at times, and now that Blake has said that, there's a chance he might've gotten X in danger.
"Fine!" says Blake as he walks out of the lobby along with everyone else.
X turns off his mic and just sits there, silent.
"What exactly did Blake mean by that? Since when are you 'happy?'" says X's boss.
X's eyes widen in fear, he calms himself down immediately, and turns around, "To be honest, I'm not sure. It was probably just him overreacting like always, after all, it is Blake that we're talking about."
"Don't bullshit with me. Have you been being nice to them behind my back?" says X's boss.
"I would never do that. I told you that I want to see them again, I wouldn't do anything to put that in jeopardy!"
"I must admit, I find it brave that you're lying right to my face, you're even looking straight into my eyes while you do it. But, I also find it idiotic. You can't lie to me, nobody can. I'll just see right through it."
"What..?"
"You heard me, X. No one can lie to me, I appreciate the bravery though. I'll tell you what, I won't get you in trouble now, but if you lie to me again, you'll get twice the punishment, understand?"
"I understand, sir."
"Glad we cleared that up, now then, pay attention to your players, they just got to the infirmary."
"Yes sir," says X as he turns back around to look at the cameras.
"Lexi!" says Carly as she goes to hug her.
"Are you feeling any better?" says Ana.
"Yep! You know, I actually think my leg is all better!" says Lexi.
"Lexi, you know that's not possible," says Chase.
"I agree, I've been here with you the whole time, I gave you x-rays every hour," says Joseph.
"You have? I thought you went to your dorm or something," says Rachel.
"I was thinking about that, but I changed my mind, it didn't feel right to leave Lexi here by herself," says Joseph.
"Guys, I promise that I'm ok! I'll just use crutches or something if you guys are so worried," says Lexi.
"Lexi, you are still healing," says Joseph.
"Lexi, if you actually want to heal your leg, there's something in the infirmary cabinet for you," says X.
"What?" says Lexi.
Chase goes to the cabinet and opens it, it looks like some type of gadget.
"Use that on Lexi's leg. Lift it above her leg and press the on button. I made it so I know it'll work," says X.
Chase reluctantly follows X's orders. He turns the gadget on and it makes a whirring sound for a few seconds and then stops.
"Lexi, can you try standing up?" says Joseph.
Lexi stands up, "I think it worked! My leg feels like normal!"
"Really? Let's go check with the x-ray," says Joseph as he leads her to the x-ray machine.
After a few minutes, they get her results back. Lexi was right, the machine worked.
"How is this possible?" says Ana.
"X, how did you make this so quickly, and why is it so efficient?" says Chase.
"You'll find out why I'm so good at this soon," says X.
"What is that supposed to mean?" says Blake.
"You'll see. Now then, it's time for the 6th and final stage, you all know where to go."
They want to keep asking him, but they doubt he'll give an actual answer, apparently they'll be finding out soon so there's no point in asking.
They all make it to the usual spot and they see the 6th and final door.
"Chase, open the door," says X.
"Got it," says Chase.
After opening the door, the players see what's inside. It's a normal room. Or, at least it seems to be a normal room.
"X, what is this?" says Blake.
"That is an escape room," says X.
Ana takes a second look at the room with a bit of surprise on her face, "Really?"
"Yes, the final stage is an escape room, this stage brings out a strong suit from everyone, which is why I saved it for last," says X.
"That's amazing, I used to work in an escape room as a teenager, this room seems like it'll bring back memories," says Chase.
"Really? So did I!" says Ana.
"So two experts are working on this, this should be easy!" says Lexi.
"I hope this takes a shorter amount of time!" says Blake.
"Well, I don't think so, Blake, me, and Ana may be experts, but escape rooms usually take an hour or more to complete," says Chase.
"That's correct, Chase. At this stage, you aren't getting 10 minutes like usual. You have one hour to complete this escape room. Now, I must warn all of you, one hour might seem like a lot, but it really isn't, not when it comes to escape rooms, you can ask Chase and Ana about that. There's a picture frame in that escape room, but as you can see, there's nothing in it. Your objective is to search for those missing pieces of the picture and put them in that frame. Once you've found every single piece of the picture, the door on the other side of the room will open up. If you don't find every single piece of the picture, all of you lose all of your lives," says X.
"We should get started," says Blake.
"You're right. X, can we start now?" says Joseph.
"Of course, everyone get into the escape room," says X.
As everyone gets in, the door slams shut behind them, leaving no way to get out except for the other door that will open once they find everything.
"The 6th and the final stage starts... NOW! Good luck, my players," says X.
"Alright, before any of you get looking, we need to establish a few things," says Ana.
"What is it?" says Rachel.
"I've seen so many people fail escape rooms because they didn't do simple things, I'm going to tell you guys what we should do, and Chase, if you want to add onto anything, go ahead," says Ana.
"Got it. Go ahead, Ana," says Chase.
"First, we should look around the room in sections. We'll split everyone up into teams. This works better because a second person might find something the first person didn't."
"Who will the teams be?" says Blake.
"Me and Carly will work together, Joseph and Lexi will be a team, and Blake, you'll be working with Rachel and Chase. We'll split the room into 3 sections," says Ana. She picks up a piece of chalk and starts making lines on the floor that show the beginning and end of a section.
"Is there anything else we need to know?" says Rachel.
"Yes. Whenever you guys find something, no matter how small it is, you need to tell everyone. They might have something else that'll help."
"Got it," says Lexi.
"It's time to split the teams into sections. Me and Carly will do section 1, Joseph and Lexi get section 2, and Blake, Rachel, and Chase get section 3. That's all I have to say, would you like to add anything, Chase?"
"Yes. Please hear everyone out guys, we all have a different point of view and those could help us figure out what exactly we need to be doing. Also, I've seen so many people overthinking about small things and it makes them fail. Don't overthink anything, if you think something in the first place, it's probably right, don't try and second-guess yourself into thinking of more complex theories," says Chase.
"Alright, everyone, begin!" says Ana.
As Ana says this, everyone takes off to their sections.
"Let's start at the bookcase, I'm sure there has to be something in there," says Ana.
Ana and Carly sit next to the bookcase and start taking all of the books out of the shelves.
They carefully look through all of the books.
"I found something!" says Carly.
"What'd you find?" says Ana.
"It's a piece of paper with 4 numbers on it, like a code. 4352," says Carly.
"Guys! Is there anywhere in your section where it looks like there would be a code that needs to be put in?" says Ana.
"Over here! There's a safe in our section!" says Lexi.
Carly walks over to section 2 and inputs the code. It's correct, the safe opens up.
"What's in the safe?" says Joseph.
"There are 2 pieces of the picture!" says Carly as she walks over to the picture frame and puts them into the frame.
"That's amazing! Come on, let's keep looking!" says Ana.
"Got it!"
20 minutes later...
"How many more picture pieces do we need?" says Joseph.
"We've got 6 right now, so 2 more," says Chase.
"Ugh, this is so annoying! This is taking too long!" says Blake.
"It's annoying but we have to get through this, Blake," says Rachel.
"Yeah, but we've looked everywhere!" says Blake.
"We clearly haven't, just keep looking," says Ana.
"Guys, I have an idea!" says Lexi.
"What is it, Lexi?" says Joseph.
"What if we switch sections? Maybe we're tired of looking at our own sections so we aren't really seeing anything. If we switch, it might be easier to spot clues," says Lexi.
"That's a good idea, ok so, me and Carly and go to section 2, Joseph and Lexi can go to section 3, and Blake, Rachel, and Chase can go to section 1," says Ana.
They all switch and it doesn't take long to find another clue.
"I found something!" says Lexi.
"What is it, Lexi?" says Joseph.
"Behind the bookcase, it looks like there's a room behind it, can someone push the bookcase?" says Lexi.
Ana and Chase push the bookcase, and sure enough, there's a room behind it, Lexi was right.
The room isn't too big, inside the room is a chair and a doll. Inside the doll's hand is a key. Lexi takes the key.
"Wasn't there something that could be unlocked with a key in here?" says Chase.
"Yeah, there's a jewelry box over there, you need a key for it," says Ana.
Lexi walks over to the box and unlocks it, one of the final parts of a picture is in there, along with a note. As Lexi goes to put the part of a picture in the picture frame, Joseph walks over and reads the note.
"What does it say, Joseph?" says Ana.
"I think it's a hint, it says, 'watch out for the top,'" says Joseph.
"That's a weird hint," says Blake.
"Yeah, but at least it's a hint," says Rachel.
"What do we think it means?" says Joseph.
"Most likely, the final picture piece is on top of one of the pieces of furniture in here," says Chase.
Joseph looks to the clock to see how much time is left, "Everyone start looking up, we only have around 15 minutes left!"
Everyone agrees and starts searching for the final piece.
As Lexi walks to one of the bookcases to search, she trips on one of the books on the floor.
"Lexi! Are you ok?" says Carly as she offers her hand to help Lexi up.
"Yeah, I'm fine-" mid-sentence, Lexi spots something under the couch.
"Lexi?" says Carly.
"I think there's something under the couch! I saw something!" says Lexi.
"What?" says Ana.
Chase moves the couch, and to everyone's surprise, the final picture piece is there.
"What!?" says Blake.
"But the hint?" says Chase.
"Maybe it was a hint for one of the other pieces that we had found before?" says Rachel.
"Most likely. Lexi, go put the final piece in the picture frame," says Ana.
"Got it!" says Lexi.
As she puts in the final piece, everyone can see what the picture actually is. It's a person. It's a man. He looks like he's in his forties with a few grey hairs.
"Who is that?" says Lexi.
"He looks familiar but I can't really figure it out," says Blake.
"I agree, I've definitely seen him before, but I can't figure out from where," says Rachel.
As Rachel finishes her sentence, X gets on the intercom, "Congratulations, my players! You have completed the 6th and final stage!"
Everyone erupts into cheers and everyone starts hugging each other.
"WE DID IT!" says Blake.
"WE'RE GONNA GET OUT OF THIS HELLHOLE!" says Joseph.
"I CAN'T WAIT!" says Carly.
"Hold on, players! You can all celebrate once you leave the exit door, that's when it'll really all be over," says X. As he finishes his sentence, he opens the door.
"You have all finished the stages, now then, follow the path leading to the exit," says X.
The path looks dark, but the players don't care. They're ready to leave.
"Well then, are we all ready to get out?" says Joseph.
Everyone simultaneously says yes and starts walking.
