The intercom turns on again, except this time, it's Leo speaking.
"What do you think I'm doing, Anthony? Take a guess since you're so smart."
Anthony's face goes pale, "Leo, don't tell me you're doing what I think you're doing."
Behind the intercom, Leo is smiling, he looks as if he's about to have the time of his life.
Leo starts laughing mischievously, "I'm doing exactly what you think I'm doing,"
Anthony's face falls to a frown, and a tear falls as he screams out, "DON'T YOU DARE, LEO! YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T DO THIS AGAIN!"
Joseph starts screaming, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TWO TALKING ABOUT? WHY THE HELL ARE WE IN THIS ROOM AND NOT LIVING OUR NORMAL LIVES?"
Anthony turns his head and sees the look of despair on his player's faces. He starts to beg, "Leo, please, PLEASE, let me explain what you're going to do before you do it. They need to know."
"Fine, I don't care if you do, I doubt they'll be able to escape this anyways. Also, Anthony, I did say I wouldn't do this again UNLESS you did something to break the rules. Which is exactly what you did," says Leo.
"That doesn't mean you have to punish them for it!" says Anthony.
Behind the intercom, Leo rolls his eyes, "Anthony, my dear brother, the rule was that if you seem to take their side or be nice to them during ANY part of the game, then I do this. I was willing to let your mistakes slide, remember what I said? Now that you've made another mistake, you're going to get double the punishment."
A look of realization falls on Anthony's face as he starts muttering curse words.
Leo continues speaking, "So, 'my players' if you wanna blame someone for what I'm about to do, blame Anthony, or how you used to call him, X."
"Anthony, what the hell is he talking about?!" says Blake.
"I'll explain now... Whenever I seem to be 'too nice' to the players instead of remaining neutral or against them, Leo adds an unexpected challenge, I don't even find out about it unless I open the exit door and see this goddamn absolute cursed room. This is considered to be Leo's 'double punishment.' It's considered double because while it hurts you guys physically, it always ends up hurting me emotionally."
Everyone goes silent. They're unsure of what to say. It seems to be like this only for a bit.
"Anthony, what exactly is the challenge..?" says Ana.
"That's the thing... I don't know. He never tells me, I only find out once you guys do. All I know is that he only stops once two people are dead."
The atmosphere in the room turns cold. A shiver goes down everyone's back.
"Excuse me?" says Ana.
Anthony can't stop himself from crying, he tries to keep his voice calm, "You heard me, once he starts the challenge, please be as alert as you can possibly be. If he can't kill anyone after a bit, he gives up. Work as a team, be coordinated, and be 10x more alert than you guys were in the games."
"Please don't blame yourself, Anthony. You were just being a normal human!" says Lexi.
"Lexi's right! You were just letting your emotions get the best of you, you wanted to root for what was right. There's nothing wrong with that, Anthony, it just means you're human!" says Carly.
"Ugh! Can you all shut it with this sappy stuff? Moving onto my favorite part, let's start. Watch out for the top," says Leo as he laughs maniacally.
"Wait a minute, that note wasn't a hint??" says Joseph with panic rising in his voice.
"Oh it was a hint, just not for the escape room," says Leo as he smiles behind the intercom.
Leo presses a button and a noise is made that can be heard across the whole room.
Joseph jerks his head up and he sees pieces of the roof starting to fall. He looks at one piece, and it's right above Lexi. The adrenaline kicks in and he starts running mindlessly.
Joseph starts to yell, "LEXI! WATCH OUT!"
As he yells this, Lexi looks above her to see a piece of the roof coming right for her. She feels frozen in her steps.
Joseph pushes Lexi out of the way and she's unharmed. The piece of the roof falls on Joseph's legs. Throughout the whole room, everyone can hear Joseph's screams of agony. The bones in his legs are completely crushed, and the blood seeps out onto the floor.
Lexi goes pale as she sees Joseph's blood on the floor, "J- joseph? Are you alive?"
Joseph breathes rapidly as he tries to make himself not feel as much pain, he's able to speak a few words, "I- I'll b-be okay, Lexi. Don't j-just stand there." He starts to cough up blood.
Lexi doesn't listen, she goes over to him, and she starts speaking. Everyone else is trying to be wary of where they stand as they run, but with Lexi and Joseph, it's as if time has stopped.
Lexi kneels to Joseph's level since he's on the floor. She starts to tear up as she speaks, "Joseph, I hope that nothing happens to you, but if something does happen, I'll do your dream for you! I would hate for it to go to waste. I'll name my company after you, and I'll make that company sell cars too."
Joseph smiles, "T-thank you, but please, w-watch out, don't spend a-any more time with m-me."
Lexi frowns, "You got it," she says as she starts running.
Ana screams from across the room, "LEXI! IS JOSEPH STILL BREATHING??"
"YEAH! HE'S OK FOR NOW!"
"Thank god," says Rachel.
Pieces from the roof keep falling and falling while the rest of the players just barely escape death. The whole room is a mess, the floor is all slanted and broken from the roof pieces falling on it, there are at least 10 holes in the roof, and everyone looks out of breath, there's barely enough time to stop and catch your breath.
Everyone keeps tripping on their own feet and it feels too hard to even move one step. Out of all the games and stages, this one challenge seems to be the hardest. There's no reviving in this, there's no safe spot for them either. The only safe spot is for Anthony, who just can't seem to stop crying.
Anthony yells, "LEO! PLEASE JUST STOP THIS! I'M BEGGING YOU!"
"No can do, you started it, you have to pay for your actions," says Leo.
"There's no point in this, Leo! They never did anything!"
"Quit your crying! Jesus, I forgot how annoying you were when you cried. There's no point in me stopping, Joseph is practically doomed, so we just need one more person. Oh! Speaking of one more person, I see someone in a bit of trouble."
Anthony has a look of shock on his face as he screams, "WHAT? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" He turns his head and he sees her, not sure if she's going to win this.
Carly screams out, "ANA, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! WE HAVE TO SURVIVE THIS!"
"I KNOW! I'M GOING TO SURVIVE," Ana screams out while she's not sure she believes those words.
All around Ana are pieces of the roof. They're massive. Outside of the roof pieces, is the broken floor, if you step in the wrong place, you'll most likely get stabbed.
"You can do this, Ana! Don't overthink it, If you stay in the same place for too long, one of the roof pieces will fall on you!" says Carly.
"But if I step on the wrong part of the floor, my foot will get stabbed and I won't be able to run, I'll barely be able to walk!" says Ana.
As Carly is about to continue speaking, a roof piece starts to fall above her. She starts running and ends up on the other side of the room from Ana.
"*You've got this, Ana. You didn't get this far just to die. Just go for it, I'm sure you'll make the right choice.*" Ana thinks to herself. As she steps on the floor, hoping for the best, a sharp pain hits her foot. Ana begins to scream out in pain. Carly turns towards her with panic all across her face. Carly runs over to her.
A tear falls down her face as she starts to speak, "ANA! Are you ok? Do you think you can walk?"
"Not a chance, I've been stabbed multiple times because of this floor," says Ana. Her voice is full of despair.
"I can carry you!" says Carly, hoping to find a solution. She starts to pick Ana up.
"Stop! I don't want to slow you down! We can't both die! Try to survive, Carly. Let me be," Ana says as she starts to cry.
"Fine. I'll leave you be, goodbye, Ana, I wish I had gotten more time with you," says Carly as she runs off crying.
As Ana is on the floor in pain, she realizes she's not that far away from Joseph. She scoots towards him using her arms. She's exhausted just from doing that. As she looks back, she realizes she's left a trail of blood.
"Hey, Joseph, you still alive?" says Ana hoping for an answer back.
He coughs before he answers, "Y-yeah, I'm not doing so good though."
"I can tell, neither am I," says Ana as more tears fall down her face, "Joseph, I'm scared. I don't wanna die."
"I know, it's gonna be ok," says Joseph as a tear falls down his face.
"I'm gonna miss everyone, especially her," says Ana.
Joseph lets out a small laugh, "I know, but it's ok. After all, you have me by your side, you won't be dying alone."
"Thanks, Joseph. I'm glad that I have you. You know, I saw you as an older brother. I know that's stupid considering I'm a full-grown adult, but it doesn't matter. There are bigger problems in the world. You were a really cool dude, I'm glad I got to know you, I know it sounds stupid, but let's try to survive this, ok? I'm not ready to die yet, what do you say, Joseph?"
Absolute silence is met by Ana. The panic inside her rises, she turns around to face him, and she faces a horror she was hoping she wouldn't have to witness. She starts to tear up. Joseph's eyes are closed, there's blood on his face from coughing so much blood up, and he's smiling.
Ana laughs while tears fall down her face, "God damnit, Joseph, you should've stayed alive."
A robotic voice starts talking from the intercom, "Joseph has died, 6 players remaining."
Everyone stops running, stuck in place from what they've just heard. A few tear up, while the others try to stay strong for Joseph. It doesn't work though, they all end up crying. Lexi reminds everyone to keep running, even though they're all sad. You can hear sobs throughout the whole room and see tears falling down everyone's faces while the players are running and roof pieces keep falling.
All Ana does is just look straight up, she's accepted the fact she's going to die.
A part of the roof starts to crumble, and it begins to fall. It's heading straight for Ana.
"Goodbye Carly, goodbye everyone," she whispers to herself.
As Ana finishes her sentence, the roof piece falls on top of her. Her whole body has been crushed and her blood seeps out into the floor.
The robotic voice begins to speak again, "Ana has died, 5 players remaining, Challenge completed."
After hearing the announcement, Carly drops to her knees. She can't stop crying. In fact, she was still crying from when Ana had told her to leave her be.
"Everyone, get up!" says Leo. A new door shows up, it looks the exact same as the exit door. The same door they thought would've let them leave.
The remaining players stand near the exit door, hoping to finally get out.
"Anthony, it's time for you to do the honors, erase their memories," says Leo.
Anthony wipes his tears away, "Yes sir," he walks over to the players, "I'm so sorry, my players."
"We understand, just get it over with please," says Blake.
"I understand," says Anthony. He opens the exit door, and they all walk through it, never to be seen again.
"Memory wipe complete," says the robotic voice.
