Joseph is usually the first one awake out of the rest of the players. He makes it his duty to wake everyone up. Knocking on each door, every player comes out at least the slightest bit annoyed.
He gets to Rachel's door. She slowly walks out with head down.
Joseph looks worried, "Rachel? Is everything alright?"
Rachel doesn't look up yet, her expression seems alarmed "*Did he hear me talking to X last night? He couldn't have, the walls are soundproof!" she thinks to herself.
"Rachel?" Joseph asks again, seeming even more worried.
I finally see that as my cue to respond, "Oh! I'm sorry, Joseph. I'm just zoned out, I'm always like this when I wake up."
Joseph looks straight at Rachel, he's silent. After a few seconds of silence, he begins to speak, "Your eyes seem puffy, there's some ice in the fridge you can use for that," says Joseph. He goes onto the next door.
Once everyone is gathered in the lobby, Joseph begins to speak, "Alright! I was thinking we could walk around. We haven't had the time to really recognize the places in here, we've been too busy with the games."
"I like that! I think it could give us more time to get to know each other as well," says Carly enthusiastically.
"Precisely!" replies Joseph, "Does everyone agree?"
Everyone nods in agreement as they get up from their seats and walk out of lobby.
The group walks around the place they're trapped in, there aren't a lot of places to go to. No one is saying a word, the atmosphere feels weird, and it feels awkward. The group knew this place was small, but just walking around all of it really makes them realize it. Everyone is realizing fast that this isn't what they thought the walk around the place was going to be like.
The situation everyone is stuck in is seems to make a few players tense.
"This place is the absolute tiniest thing I've ever seen, there's no way it's meant to be this small," says Blake.
"There's no point in complaining Blake, we're stuck with this place until all the games are over, just deal with it," says Ana.
"Yeah, I agree with Ana, there's no point," says Carly.
"I was just saying. There's no need to be so uptight about it."
"We're not being uptight Blake, you seem to be the one being uptight, try to calm down," says Ana.
"You're telling me to be calm? We just went through a killing game AND we still have 13 more to go! I think I can be a little uptight!"
"So you're admitting you're being uptight right now? You know what, Blake? Actually...it's whatever, never mind," says Ana. She tries to calm her tone to diffuse the situation that she feels is about to happen, but she doesn't think it's working.
"No, c'mon, say it! Say what you wanna say, don't hide it! You're allowed to say what you wanna say."
"Yo, Blake, calm down, just leave it. Fighting like this will not help us at all," says Chase.
"Chase, stop acting like your some savior to us or something, you're not. We might as well argue, after all, I doubt X wants us to make friends or something."
"Blake... I agree with Chase," says Rachel, "We may be in a killing game, but that doesn't mean we're not supposed to make friends. The games only last at the most, 10 minutes, and we don't even remember any of it. If anything, I would say X wants us to make friends so it could cause more problems."
"Yeah, I think you're the only one with that type of mindset, Blake," says Carly.
"Oh for god's sake, just shut up. I can't deal with this!"
"Blake, I don't know why you're suddenly getting a problem with us but you need to stop," says Ana with her voice immediately turning cold.
"Or what, huh? What are you gonna do? You will do absolutely nothing, nothing at all."
Ana stands in silence, not knowing how to respond, the situation has already escalated, and she doesn't want to make it worse. She begins to start walking in the opposite direction as someone else starts speaking for her.
Carly begins to start talking, "Maybe she won't do anything, but that doesn't give you a right to say anything bad about us! We need to stick together. We are all that we have right now, it's not like X is gonna come down here and start being buddies with us! Stop trying to escalate things, Blake." She's definitely escalated the situation even more, but she doesn't care considering all she wanted to do was help Ana.
"Carly, you do not get to talk to me like that! Who do you think you-,"
"Stop. Please just stop it!" Lexi blurts out, "There's no point in arguing with each other, we're stuck with each other until the games are over, there's no point in creating problems with people that we're stuck with!"
Blake looks even madder now that Lexi has interrupted him. "Listen here, kid. You don't know anything. You're only 10, you're too young. Stop being stupid."
Blake realizes what he's just said and his eyes widen. He quickly turns his head away from Lexi and begins to mutter something, unheard by the others.
Lexi is on the verge of tears as she starts speaking, "You said that none of us would call me that... If that's how you wanna play then fine. I'll get someone who should know about this, after all, he's the oldest," Lexi says as she catches up to Joseph.
"Joseph! Are you just gonna let him talk to all of us like this? We need your help!"
Joseph turns to Lexi, "Usually if someone tends to get angry, you don't say anything to them. If you say something in retaliation, It just escalates the situation. I was wondering when you guys would stop."
"So you're basically just saying to ignore me, is that it?" says Blake.
"Technically, yes. The way I said something just now that you didn't like is causing you to retaliate at me and get more mad. But, now that we're on the subject of talking, I might as well continue. You do not have the right to talk badly about anyone here. Think before you say. I want you to walk in front of all of us, you need time to calm down before you talk to anyone, do I make myself clear?"
"But-"
"NOW!"
He walks up to the front with no argument. "This was a dumb idea to walk around," Blake mumbles to himself.
"Woah, players, I have to say that whole argument was very entertaining to watch! I wish I had popcorn or something and it was REALLY funny how easily Blake shut up once Joseph got involved," says X through the intercom.
"Of course, he decided to say something now," says Ana laughing to herself at X's timing.
"You really have to announce yourself before you start speaking out of nowhere, X!" says Carly.
"What do you want, X? You only say something when you have something to tell us," says Ana.
"First of all, Carly, I will not be announcing myself, it's more fun to come out of nowhere. Second of all, Ana, I was listening to Blake whining about how small the place is and I remembered something."
"Well, what is it?" says Blake.
"Ah! Don't start an argument with me now, Blake! Kidding, kidding. Anyways, I forgot to mention it but every few games I open up a new place in here."
"What?! Why didn't you mention this when you were explaining the rules?!" says Chase.
"I forgot," says X laughing over the intercom, "anyways, my bad, let me open one of the places now."
The group hears a rumble and the place starts shaking and they have to hang onto something so they don't fall. The shaking stops after a few seconds and the group looks at the new place that has opened up.
"Tada!! It's a cafeteria! Go explore it guys, you deserve it!"
"X, we already have a fridge stocked with food in one of the other rooms, are you sure we need this whole cafeteria?" says Joseph.
"Of course! 1 fridge won't work for 7 people, go ahead!" says X.
"Umm, should we go in?" says Rachel.
"Well, I am, I'm hungry," says Carly walking in like it's nothing.
"I agree, there's no point in X trying to harm us, after all, he makes us do it to each other during the games," says Ana walking into the cafeteria.
Everyone starts walking in and some explore the place before actually eating the food inside it, just in case.
"Guys, I've looked around the cafeteria and it seems safe," says Joseph grabbing something out of the refrigerator.
As Lexi sits down, Blake sits down next to her, "Hey, Lexi... I'm really sorry about what I said to you. You confided in me and Joseph because you trusted us, and I broke that. Sometimes I tend to act out and I say things when I really don't mean them. Do you forgive me?"
Lexi starts to smile a little at Blake, "I forgive you. I know it's hard to control your anger, you'll be able to do it soon, just practice."
Blake smiles when he gets up from his chair, "Thank you, Lexi. I need to go apologize to everyone else, I'll come back and sit down next to you soon."
"Alright, I'll see you soon."
