The Sabha was in a silence, different thoughts and emotions were going on head of every but most prominent thought were of shock and emotions of disgust, loathing, anger, pity were held in everyone present there. They could only be a spectator of everything happening in front of them. Even those who never liked Karna, have sympathy for him while no positive emotions or thoughts for the great mother of Kunti were crossing in their minds. Shr truly has fallen from grace.
Pandavas were numb because of everything that happened. They had expressions of shame on their faces and hoped for a swift death rather than what happened to them just now. The deeds and words of their mother were enough for them to rethink everything they ever knew about her but they could feel the piercing gaze of everyone on them when their misdeeds were spoken was something they weren't able to bear. Never they ever could have concluded that one they hated with such passion would be their brother. The punishment was very light considering what they have done, none among them were mentally strong enough to recover.
Kunti still tried one last time for the sake of her children,
Kunti: Krishna help your bua. Please!!
Krishna was angered at this moment, even he couldn't subdue his emotions,
Krishna: Help? Bua, it seems you can't see the mercy Karna bestowed upon you and Pandavas. I am sorry but even I can't do anything more.
Kunti was enraged hearing this never she thought that she would be left alone in between everything. According to her everything was supposed to be easy and as she planned but everything was slipping from her hands. The thought of power being snatched away from her was unbearable for her, she has let go of her hesitation and insecurities of being defamed but still she wasn't getting the result that she desired instead because of a suta women she was being punished by her illegitimate and supposed gullible first born. Everything seems bleak and torn apart to her as even her five children that she raised herself were unwilling to say anything in her defense,
Kunti: No, I will not accept it. Karna you have no right to punish me or my children. You are nothing but a sin that was imposed on me. Only thing I did wrong was to let you float away in river Ganga instead I should have drowned you or thrown you in a deep valley of a mountain.
Everyone in the court was stumped hearing the words coming out of her mouth, a sharp gasp escaped from the mouths of almost everyone present there.
Draupadi, Sahdev, bheeshma, rest Pandavas, Kauravas and almost everyone present in the court looked at the madness of the woman named Kunti.
Karna himself stood in his place with his mother Radha in his embrace and he grasped the hands of Vrushali who was going to behead the crazy woman. Karna was very well aware of the power hunger that mother of Pandavas has, he wasn't surprised by her actions and neither her words hurted him because he knew these were true thoughts of the lady.
The moment he knew what his Radha maa has to go through he has detached any relationship from Kunti or her children. He was raised as Radhe and he will die as Radhe only so words of the woman were not enough to pierce him. He stood there with blank emotions.
Everyone there was flabbergasted looking at everything happened in front of them, there was pin drop silence and only rage of Kunti who seem to lost her senses or expressed her true nature was there,
The atmosphere was grim, suddenly the attention of everyone was drawn by a woman who seemed too enraged by words coming out of mouth of Kunti and she was none other than mother of Kauravas, former queen and reigning queen mother of hastinapur,
Gandhari: Kunti!!!
Kunti who has taken over by madness was not in mood of hearing anyone or anything,
Kunti: Stay out of this. I don't want to hear anything from you in the least. With what right are you shouting at me? First, handle your own family. I gave birth to him and I nourished him for nine months in my womb but is this how he repays me? I said nothing wrong. I shouldn't have abandoned him, Instead I should have killed him with my own hands then probably my family wouldn't be in this situation.
Gandhari: Kunti, a mother is nurturer and protector of her children and merely giving birth is not enough for a woman to qualify as mother. You are definitely not a mother, at least not to Putra Karna. Radha is mother of Karna because you abandoned him not once but throughout his life despite recognising him.
Kunti: So what? If not for my five children do you think I would have bothered to acknowledge him at all. And who are you to lecture me on my abandonment didn't you also do the same to your children and family?
Duryodhana, Dussasana and hastinapur royals who were there were not pleased by the way Kunti spoke to their mother, Duryodhana was pretty enraged. But before he could say anything or do anything he saw fire in his mother's eyes and it was anger. Gandhari wasn't easily enraged last time he saw such facial expressions was when dyut sabha happened but he can see his mata was more angry than then,
Kunti's words pricked the corner of heart of Gandhari that she was guilty about but now Gandhari knew it wasn't the moment to wallow in self guilt and pity instead she has to take a stance here for Karna one who was like son to her, one who gave her love and respect of a mother.
Gandhari moved forward towards Kunti and with a hard swing of her hands she slapped Kunti, the slap was so hard that it drew a trace of blood,
Gandhari: You vile woman, Oh lord Shiva how is it that Putra Karna is so unfortunate that you birthed him. Many would have pennaced their entire lives to have a son like him. Kunti you dare to say I and you are alike no we are not. I never left a newborn and helpless child in the stream of bhagirathi no, I fought tooth and nail with the entire kuruvansh for the safety of my first born. He was considered a bad omen and what not but for me he was my child nothing more nothing less.
You say, I abandoned my children, no Kunti . I punished them for their misdeed. I didn't leave a helpless child but a man, a ruling king of hastinapur. Don't you dare to say what U did was selfish because it was not. My heart bleeded while parting from my children but I still did what I should do as a mother to make them understand their wrongdoing.
You think I am selfish and power hungry like you, I never tried to use my children as a tool. I never left hastinapur in hope of getting close to Karna, I came here to ask for an apology for what he had gone through because of my children. It was the kind heart of Putra Karna that accepted me as his mother and gave me all the love and respect that a mother could get from a son. So with that right I am standing here to ask for justice that I know my son deserves but wouldn't ask from a selfish, cruel and Power hungry woman like you.
I don't know whether it was the misfortune of Putra Karna or good fortune that you accumulated in past lives that Surya dev himself blessed a part of him to an undeserving woman like you. Just because of you and your selfishness he has to struggle his entire life to get what should be his rights all along and after everything he went through to achieve everything he has with what right you dare to walk in here asking for anything. I haven't seen a woman who asked for the price of nurturing a child in her womb but you even did such a heinous thing and still you had the gall to curse and wish death of Putra Karna, with what right Kunti, I ask you, what right??”
Words of Gandhari reverberated throughout the court of Brahamnagri. Her every reasoning and words shook the sabha. Even the Kauravas who were angry with their mother's abandonment 13 years ago were stupefied. What Gandhari uttered was nothing but truth. Throughout 13 years Dussasan and Kauravas resented their mother that she abandoned them in time of need while kunti has supported Pandavas throughout but now listening to their mother they understood it wasn't abandonment but punishment that they have faced and they also realized how wrong they were thinking Kunti as ideal mother because she was anything but that.
Yudhishthir, Bheem, Arjun and Nakul stood there in daze, shame and helplessness. If it was anyone other than Gandhari they wouldn't have kept quiet but what was said was nothing but utter truth and fact and they couldn't deny anything.
Draupadi was in too much shock never she thought anyone could be so cruel especially not a mother. To wish death on one's own newborn children is not something any woman could ever imagine. She never thought Devi Kunti would stoop any lower than asking price of carrying Karna in her womb but low and behold the woman surpassed her wildest imagination possible but in between everything she was looking at her husband who stood there unaffected and unbothered but more he was like this more she was restlessness and feeling tormented. She thought her mental trauma was the worst but it pales in comparison to what he was going through and it seems he knew everything already and for a long time as well. She couldn't imagine the possible mental fortitude of Karna. She even looked at her friend who was silently shedding tears. Never has she had a tear in her sakha's eyes but it was falling freely which was enough to show the pain he was in.
Sahadev witnessing his mother like this has left him completely devastated. He is grappling with a multitude of emotions as he contemplates the price he has paid for his existence. The sudden realization that his mother may not have truly loved him and that he may have just been a tool for her to gain power and prestige has shaken him to his core .he struggles to make sense of what he is witnessing and what it means for his relationship with his mother .
Sahadev reflects on his relationship with Karna. Despite considering Karna as his brother, he now realizes that Karna was actually his elder brother, a fact that was hidden from him due to his mother's actions. This realization brings up a flood of emotions, as Sahadev thinks about all the times his other elder brothers had insulted Karna in his presence, but he had remained silent. He now realizes that he missed the opportunity to stand up for Karna
Sahadev observed his elder brothers, and he can see the regret in their eyes, indicating that they too have come to realize the truth about their mother's actions. However, their mother remains unapologetic and stands arrogantly, which is hard for Sahadev to accept. He is shocked that she had the audacity to ask Karna for a price for giving birth to him, a request that goes against the very essence of motherhood and the bond between a mother and child.
