He finally got to sleep before the sun came up and when his alarm went off at seven, he expected to still feel very tired. However, what he did not expect was Eniola hovering over him with wide eyes and an equally wide smile.
"Princess?" He would have sprung up but forced himself not to as she was leaning over him.
"Hi, pretty boy." She answered quietly, still smiling with her hair bouncing everywhere.
As he tried to move, he realised her thighs were pressing against his and if she would lean in any closer, she could feel his morning... Signal.
This was not the distraction and embarrassment he needed that morning.
"Can you get off of me for a bit? I—I am a bit uncomfortable." He sputtered out and she looked at him in amusement for a moment before lifting herself off him and falling on the bed with a sigh. "Thank you."
"Alvaro said he was going to go house hunting!" She blurted out after he had returned from the bathroom.
"Did he?" Tobias asked as he scanned through his boxes for clothes. He never got around putting them in the closet.
"He did. Are you really going to stay?" She questioned making her way to his pile of clothes. "This colour is nice, it goes with your eyes." She raised a dark green sweater to his beautiful face.
"Thank you." He smiled in appreciation and gently took it from her. It was a rare dark knitted sweater with a zigzag pattern and a turtle neck. He too thought it would look nice.
"You should wear a blazer too. That's if you're planning to go out. Do you have a black one?" She asked to go through his other box that seemed to have only warm coloured dress shirts. "You still don't have a lot of dark colours."
He nodded even though she wasn't looking at him. She muttered a few words before pulling out a dark suit from the very bottom of the box.
"I think these would really go well together." She said to herself, patting down the fabric through the suit bag. "How about you just wear a t-shirt and jeans then you wear this outfit to my trial tomorrow?" She asked him and he just sighed and nodded, taking the clothes from her to air them out.
"Thank you." He agreed and took out a random white t-shirt with light blue sweats. "You're here?" He asked the beautiful woman who was so focused on rearranging the clothes she had pulled out.
"Yeah..." She answered absently, not so subtle in hiding a cream hoodie behind her.
He chuckled at what she was doing and quietly retreated to the bathroom to bathe and get changed.
He turned on the shower and gritted his teeth as the water hit his skin. He hated cold water and the cold in general but at least it felt good on his tired body. He was hardly getting enough sleep and the signs were beginning to get visible.
As he finished, he took a good look at himself in the mirror.
His usually tanned skin was almost pale and rough. He had light shadows under his eyes and that did not look as sharp and bright as before. They were dull and blunt.
He knew it would only be a matter of time until bags began to show under.
How did Enny see this and still call me 'pretty'?
He shook his head and slowly began to put on his pants and froze as he was about to wear his t-shirt.
He forgot to take an undershirt.
Call it childish and immature but he could not dress up without appropriate underwear. It was one of the perks of growing up with an almost overbearing mother.
Fucking hell.
He sighed and went back to the bedroom where Eniola was on a phone call.
"What do you mean you can't get a hold of Anthony, Nicolas?" She was trying to reach her manager.
"Nicolas, Stevie, Stephanie, it's all the same."
"...Yes it is. Have you tried his personal line?"
"...Oh, he didn't tell me he was going abroad."
"Dubai? That's fancy. I guess he really needed the time off?"
"Sure, just let me know when you get a hold of... Her eyes finally met the built half naked man in front of her and she gulped. "...him." She cleared her throat and hung up.
Tobias knew she was probably staring at the new ink on his body... Either that or he looked worse than he did in the bathroom. He really hoped it was the former.
"You have tattoos?" She gasped as he came closer and nodded before turning to look for a singlet.
At least she isn't looking at my walking dead facial features.
"Yes. I got most of them two years ago. Especially these ones." He pointed to his back; a big writing across his shoulder blades and a couple of small phrases littered his spine and lower back.
"Can I touch it?" She reached out hesitantly with curious eyes and he nodded looking away.
"La familia es primero." She read carefully. "What does it mean?" He held back a shudder as her delicate fingers traced the large cursive font.
"Family comes first." He replied quietly, not wanting to show how much her touch excited him.
She read out the others and he interpreted while she traced down to his ribs.
"Becky?" She asked in something he tried to identify as shock. "Who is Becky?"
It was jealousy. Eniola was getting jealous and she was trying her hardest to hide it.
She was never good at masking her true emotions.
"Rebecca, my sister?" He reminded her and she laughed nervously.
"Oh, right. I thought it was someone else. It's silly." She answered looking everywhere but at him and he just laughed and shook his head then went back to looking for the singlet. He took his time so she could still explore the markings on his body.
"Can you turn around? I want to see the ones in front." She asked and he obeyed.
He turned and knelt in front of her with her in a crisscrossed position that he was sure would kill her knees once she got up.
"Ouu, what's this one?" She pointed to the one directly on his heart, two small hands that seemed to be holding sand in them. "Is it sand?"
He smiled and nodded. "Remember when you gave it to me at the beach? You really wanted me to have it." He said nostalgically. It was her first time at the beach. She collected everything from rocks to shells to sand. Pretty sand as she had called it.
"You remember that?" She smiled widely as her fingers brushed against the small drawing again, sending tremors of pleasure through him as she grazed his left nipple.
"I remember that." He smiled lightly and was taken aback as she threw her arms around him.
"Thank you, Tobi. Thank you for everything." She muttered, burying her face in his neck.
It took him a while to wrap his own hands around her waist.
"Thank you for accepting me again." He said quietly as his thumbs drew circles on her back.
Everything always felt put in place with her in his arms. He never wanted to let go.
The quiet moment was ruined by a loud obnoxious knock that forced them... well him, to pull apart.
"It's almost eight. Y'all are wasting my fucking time!" Varo loudly called from behind the door.
Tobias was not a violent person, but at that moment, strangling the life out of Alvaro did not seem like a terrible idea.
"Come in." He answered back pulling his singlet over his head just as the door flung open with a grinning Alvaro dragged Clara behind him.
"Fuck, He's naked. Shut your innocent eyes, Clara!" He exaggeratedly yelled, closing the English woman's eyes with his palms before she stomped his foot.
"I'll bite your veins out if you try that again!" She frowned at him and he tried to mask the initial look of shock with indifference.
"You see? That's just a weird thing to say." The man laughed off her threats before moving his attention to his boss who had already gotten fully dressed and the dark woman sitting idly watching in amusement.
Tobias wondered why she didn't snap at Clara as she would normally do.
"Clar, he's only looking out for you." She grinned at the two who yelled at the same time;
"Thank you!"
"I can't believe you would say that!"
"Am I missing something?" Tobias finally spoke up, sitting comfortably in a chair at the far end of the room with his book between his fingers. He had even managed to turn to the page he stopped at.
"How did you—" Eniola asked in confusion. He was standing behind her a minute ago.
"He does weird shit like that. You can see where Clara took it from." Alvaro said and Clara looked like she was about to get a word in before Tobias interrupted.
"You can leave now, hermano. Clara has my card already but if the need comes up..." He instructed, carefully folding a page in the book and dropping it on the table. He opened the file next to it and retrieved the black card he first got hold of. "Here's my personal one." He looked at Varo who nodded, undoubtedly thinking up ways to unofficially use the card.
Tobias rolled his eyes.
"Awesome. Anything else?" Tobias shook his head and waved them off.
"See you later, Clar!" Eniola called after one of the duo who had just left the room.
"You too, Enny!" Clara answered back and was met with a grumpy voice.
"You know you didn't need to step on me that fucking hard."
"You want to see what I call hard?" The fading voice snapped and it made her laugh.
"They are going to be an adorable couple." She said as she shut the door.
"I see you're on better terms with her now?" Tobias smiled softly at her as he rested his head on his palm.
"She's cool. We shared a bottle of whiskey yesterday when you were out with Varo and I guess we bonded a bit? I dunno... We just chilled." She answered and Tobias felt his smile waver.
Was she tipsy yesterday? Did she forget what she did to me?
"We just talked about you and her work relationship with you. She has a very interesting life too. After growing up in England and going to Minnesota because your father had promised her a job... That was really nice of him, I guess." She continued and he only nodded.
Did she really forget? He didn't know how to feel about it. The kiss was engraved in his mind.
Tobias did not know how to feel about her disregarding it. It had made him feel warm and wanted and things he never felt the need to feel before.
If she really was drunk and either forgot about it or saw it as nothing, he would be sad. He would try his best not to feel like he had been scammed.
At least if she didn't remember, he felt the need to tell her. It would be wrong for her to not know what she had done to him. He knew how much she hated being oblivious and out of control of the things she did. Especially with the revelation of her being drunk.
He would tell her exactly as it had happened but leave out the part where he felt himself wanting more. Wanting her to be precise.
It was the scariest thing to admit. Was it even right? It doesn't feel wrong.
"Hello? Earth to Tobi?" Eniola was now waving her hand above his face, inches away from his eyes.
"Do you remember what happened yesterday?" He blurted out, immediately cursing himself for such a stupid outburst. She made him act out of character.
"I was just telling you about it." She stood over him in confusion and he rubbed his face.
"No, not that. The kiss. You kissed me twice." He said slowly.
"I didn't kiss you, Tobi."
His heart deflated. She didn't remember. It didn't mean anything.
"I pecked you then you pecked me. There was no real kiss." She continued and he just nodded, finding the hardcover of the book more interesting to look at as he felt her eyes bore through him.
"Do you want me to give you a real kiss?"
Tobias nearly had a heart attack and a broken neck.
