Aurora
Tripping over a pile of socks, Aurora began to curse herself as she was yet again going to be late for work. It was going to be the third time this week and if she keeps this up, she was sure that she was going to be fired.
If Aunt Jocelyne fires her she would have no more money and no money means she can't afford the rent, and that was what started her morning panicking. She was scared that she would let her boss down and most importantly, let herself down for being irresponsible.
She hasn't even been working at the coffee shop for that long, it has only been less than a year. In that little time of having a job she managed to mess up with her late coming and it saddened her. She felt so useless but was still determined to work hard even though she felt like a disappointment.
She moved here less than a year ago when the doctor confirmed that they were able to monitor and discarding the fact that she didn't have the money to support the change to the new city, she made a way.
She started babbling to herself, her cat watching her every move with tired eyes and unconcerned with her fidgeting. She threw on a fresh set of clothes that she just washed last night, thanking the heavens that she decided to do that which saved her time.
She also showered the night before which gave her the advantage of the time being.
Her outfit was nothing out of the ordinary but it would have to do with the amount of money she does not get. There was no money to spend on clothes, it all went towards rent and the little bits of grocery shopping here and there. Most importantly, it went towards her hospital bills that left her bankrupt with every cent she earned.
Aurora was barely holding on.
Aurora glanced over at the clock and screamed at the top of her lungs once she saw that she had less than twenty minutes to get to work. There was no time to waste on doing hair, so throwing her hair into a ponytail and grabbing all her necessities she said her final goodbyes to her cat.
Rushing out of the building she caught a cab, however the drive to her work was about ten minutes and she prayed that she would make it on time.
"Right on time my dear." Aunt Jocelyne greeted her with a big smile.
Aurora was too caught up in steadying her breathing and just offered her a small smile in return. She was still a mess from rushing this morning that it took a toll on her head, the room spinning a bit as she regained her steady breathing.
Aurora was happy that she was finally on time for work and that she didn't disappoint Aunt Jocelyne.
Lauren, who stood behind the counter, snickered as she took in the appearance of the frail girl. Aurora wasn't ugly in any sense, but she did lack a sense of style which made her seem plain. Compared to other woman like Lauren, Aurora had a very dull appearance by not wearing any sort of makeup, or even letting her hair loose once in a while.
Aurora did not wear pants and sweaters, she wore dresses and skirts. Aurora had a fascination with dressing that way, even when it was chilly outside she would just add stocking and a jacket. Even with an outfit like that, Lauren still thought she it was boring and plain.
Lauren was the daughter of Aunt Jocelyne and she was not at all nice towards Aurora.
It was something that confused Aurora. She did not understand why Lauren was only mean towards her but to the others she was a sweetheart. Being kind towards the other waitresses and workers, but she was really mean when it came to Aurora.
There was nothing she did wrong yet she knew Lauren hated her.
"G-good morning Lauren." she greeted the girl softly, who was too invested in judging Aurora's lack of fashion.
Lauren just rolled her eyes and started barking orders at Aurora. Something about Lauren that got Aurora wishing to disappear was that she bossed her around, knowing that it was Aunt Jocelyne's job to do so. Instead of waiting for her mother to give them instructions on what to do, the absence of her mother caused Lauren to take charge over what goes.
Lauren stood behind the counter and watched as Aurora started moving around from customer to customer. It was very busy in the mornings, especially because of the wealthy businessmen and women who was rushing to get in their daily morning doze of coffee before work. Most were generous enough to tip Aurora for her kind nature, giving the girl a bit of money to help her through her struggles.
"G-good morning. My name is A-Aurora and I'll be your waitress. Is there anything I can get started for you?"
Her eyes were focused on her notepad as she spoke. It was a bad habit of hers to never look into the customers faces as her shyness got the best of her, having her always focus on anything other than the customers.
The woman who sat with her two children looked up at Aurora with a kind smile. "One coffee and two chocolate milkshakes, please."
Aurora gave a small smile, happy that it was one of the nice customers. She didn't like the ones who had no manners, those who never said please or thank you. It was bad manners to never say those words and it irked her when some never said it.
"A-anything else?" she asked, her voice as soft as ever.
The woman shook her head. "That would be all, thank you."
Aurora excused herself as she went to go place their orders. She went over to one of the people who was forever kind to her and her one and only friend, Chandler.
Chandler was one of the chef's working in the kitchen and the only person beside Aunt Jocelyne who made conversation with Aurora. He was a very funny and sweet soul who become close friends with Aurora in a very short amount of time.
"Thank you darling." Chandler winked at her and disappeared into the kitchen.
Aurora blushed at his words and went back to work. Which was waiting tables and cleaning after people, but she was not complaining about it.

Aurora wiped the last table after the customer left and wiped the sweat off her forehead. She was a bit exhausted but had to keep herself together, it hadn't even been an entire day but she felt tired. She shook off the tired feeling and continued with her work.
Her mood suddenly lifted as she saw the tip that the family had left her with their bill. She smiled at how nice they were, even though it wasn't that big of a tip, it was enough to have Aurora mentally thank them for their kindness.
"Aurora." she heard a high pitch voice behind her say.
She turned around and came face to face with Lauren, who had a sour look on her face. She knew it was aimed at her judging from how she must have looked with her face all sweaty and her hair out of place. She must have looked untidy compared to Lauren.
"Yes L-Lauren?"
"The water pipe had burst in the bathroom and it won't be fixed until the plumber comes tomorrow. If you want to go to the bathroom you would need to go across the street." she popped her bubble she made with her gum.
Aurora nodded at the information given to her. "T-thank you for telling me."
Lauren rolled her eyes. "I only told you this because my mom wanted me to inform you. Don't think for a second I care about your well-being."
Aurora kept her mouth shut as Lauren trotted away back to standing behind the counter. It was not anything new for Lauren to throw insults at her and she learned to just deal with whatever Lauren told her. It still hurts knowing that she doesn't like Aurora, but there was nothing she could do.
With a hurtful heart she resumed her work and held back her tears. She was way too sensitive for this and she hated herself for getting upset over the smallest things. All she wanted to do was go home and stay with her cat, knowing it would cheer her up.
Aurora went over to the kitchen to deposit the dirty dishes the customers have left and saw Chandler approaching her. He had his usual kind smile plastered on his face and it made Aurora mimic what he was doing, but the smile didn't reach her eyes.
"Our lunch break is in an hour. Care to join me?" he asked her.
"Chandler I don't-"
Chandler cut her off with a shake of his head. "Don't worry your pretty little head about it. Lunch is on me."
Aurora began to protest, hating the idea of someone spending money on her when she didn't deserve that act of kindness.
"I-It's okay. I'll just have a glass of water."
Chandler looked at her in disbelief. "No. You are going to have lunch with me. You will not turn down Aunt Jocelyne's famous grilled cheese sandwich."
Her mouth watered at the thought of tasting her grilled cheese sandwich once again. It was something she had never tasted before, something so simple yet never had the opportunity to get a taste of it as much. It was a simple dish for people who had money, but for her, it was something she could barely afford.
She bit her lip, looking at Chandler as he gave her a look that urged her to say yes. Hesitantly she agreed, feeling guilty for having him spend money on her when he could have used to to buy him something better.
"B-but this is the last t-time." she pointed at him.
Chandler smirked at her. "Sure." he said, a hint of sarcasm laced in his tone.
A/N
Yes I changed the entire thing about this book except the characters. I took away the family and I added some new characters because I wasn't feeling the previous scenario.
Don't be mad at me :)
Byeeeee.
