Aurora
Aurora couldn't sleep properly that night. She tossed and turned in the new bed, not too familiar with lying down on a comfortable bed that was not her fractured mattress. She was also disturbed by how distant Matteo was and how he gave her the cold shoulder.
She couldn't stop thinking about how mean he was since he was the one who offered her a place to stay. She thought that maybe this was the time where they could somehow become a bit more closer than they were, but that was not going to happen. He didn't even bother to communicate with her and always seemed to give her mixed signals that confused her.
There were times where he would talk to her and engage in conversation but there were countless times where he was just silent. He acted like someone with split personalities that would one moment be all jolly and talkative and then the next, he would ghost her.
She knew that her attraction towards him might set her off as too clingy and wanting too much of his attention but she couldn't help it. Matteo was a man graveling in darkness and it was a strong pull for her, a pull so strong that she couldn't move. There was a connection and she knew it but there was a possibility he doesn't at all think the same way.
He must have been doing this out of a pity and just saw her as nothing but a child. It was clear as day that everyone treated her like a little girl and he was very vogue about it on the night they met. She was being silly to even think that he would spare a glance in her direction and feel some sort of attraction like she does.
As always she might be thinking too much about this.
Before she knew it morning had arrived. She thought about showing a token of gratitude for having him bring her into his home and decided to prepare breakfast for him. It was around seven in the morning and it gave her enough time to first freshen up before she made him his meal.
She would never get over the euphoric feeling of the warm water on her body. The jet streams of hot water slapped against her skin and it calmed her body, freeing her from the cold feeling of her skin. She basked in the warmth it provided her, not only for her body but in her heart too.
Her mouth hung open when she the strawberry scented body wash and shampoo that was on the metallic shelf against the tiles. The two things Aurora loved most in this world was Kitty and strawberries, both being so dear to her heart.
Malinda told her that Matteo had already stocked up on some clothes before she had arrived. He had already done enough for her and now he had to waste money on clothes for her. She shouldn't be a brat and not accept what he had bought for her so she sucked it up and took out an outfit for her to wear.
Her cheeks reddened when she saw the many dresses and skirts in front of her. Matteo must have noticed that she had a thing for summer dresses and tennis skirts, probably from seeing her wear them all the time at work. What could she possible do to show this man how thankful she is?
When Aurora finally arrived in the kitchen, almost distracted with the other vacant rooms in the house, she spotted Malinda cleaning the kitchen counter. She didn't expect her to be up this early and wondered why she was cleaning this early in the morning when she should be sleeping.
"Good m-morning." she greeted.
Malinda's face lighted up when she saw Aurora. She gave her a small bow in acknowledgment. "Good morning, young madam. What would you like for breakfast?"
Aurora cringed at the name, not liking how formal it sounded. "Please c-call me Aurora."
Malinda smiled nodding her head. "Of course."
"Are you also the c-cook?" she asked confusedly.
"Yes. I am maid in this house so I do every chore. No complaints when pay is very good." she winked.
Aurora giggled softly at that. She got the sudden thought of why she entered the kitchen in the first place and cleared her throat, grabbing Malinda's full attention.
She twiddled with her thumbs. "I-I was wondering if maybe I could make his b-breakfast this morning? I want to show him how g-grateful I am for letting me stay here."
Malinda looked hesitant. "I don't know. Don likes breakfast made a certain way."
"Please? It's the l-least I could do for him."
"I don't know..." Malinda trailed off, not comfortable with the idea.
Aurora breathed in when she realized she had to resort in this tactic. She clasped her hands together and stepped closer to Malinda who was caught off guard by her sudden closeness. Her lips formed into a pout and her eyes, her eyes were the trap.
"Please?" she begged, her bottom lip jotting out and slightly trembled.
Malinda looked away as she huffed. "Puppy eyes not going to work on me."
Aurora sniffled in hopes that it was enough to make Malinda now change her mind.
Malinda looked baffled by her plea and her face was so contorted that it looked like she was about to explode. Aurora didn't stop and continued to stare at her in a pleading manner until she eventually gave up.
"Signore dammi forza. Okay okay fine. If don is not pleased it will be your funeral, young madam." (Lord give me strength)
Aurora squealed and wrapped her arms around the small woman. She thanked Malinda repeatedly and skipped into the kitchen, on her way to prepare him breakfast that will knock his socks off.
Aurora's legs were trembling and the tray shook in her hands as she stared at the large wood colored door in her way. She was trembling at the though that right behind that door was Matteo and she thought that this was maybe a bad idea. It was foolish of her to want to make him breakfast and she had the strongest urge to turn and run away.
What if he didn't like fruit? Maybe the scrambled eggs were a bit under cooked or he didn't like his toast that way. What if he hated orange juice and liked apple juice instead?
She calmed herself down as she reminded herself that it was her idea to want to make him breakfast. If she doesn't deliver this to him then he would be without breakfast which is the most important meal of the day, and if he didn't eat it he wouldn't have energy. If Matteo has no energy then his energy levels would drop and it could cause him to faint, and what if he fainted on the side of the road?
It would be her fault because she didn't give him his breakfast. She couldn't let Matteo die because she was too much of a coward to just drop off his plate of food and just leave without saying anything. Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Walk into his office, set the plate down and then just walk out of the room.
How hard could it be?
She took in a couple of deep breaths and said a silent prayer before lifting a shaky fist towards the door. Deciding to be brave she knocked on the door, three times before she heard his voice say "come in".
She opened the door and had her head bent so that her eyes could stay glued on the tray in her hands. Entering the office the still said a prayer to herself before she decided to stop acting like a pathetic girl and just look up. With the little bit of confidence she mustered she slowly raised her head only to nearly drop the tray on the ground and her knees going slightly weak.
It was a truly mouthwatering sight to witness that had her throat dry up, leaving her slightly breathless as well. He was not facing her even though his body was turned sideways, his back leaning against the frame of his french door, his head was turned to look outside. Aurora felt bad for shamelessly staring at the man with thousands of thoughts swirling in her brain as the sight before her was something she would never forget.
Matteo had no shirt on.
He was already a fair sight to behold and she found him attractive even when he wore a shirt. In this moment she drank in the curve of his muscles on his arms, not large bulging muscles but enough to be prominent. Her eyes caressed his every feature of his upper body the gentle curve of his smooth back that dipped down as it got lower, flexing a bit whenever his arm moved up and down.
She saw the outline of his abs and when she looked closer the could see that he was definitely a man who worked out. He did in fact have abs and she was so transfixed on the way those small bumps on his stomach created a sensual feeling in her tummy.
His body was well in shape and the smoothness of his skin showed that he took great care of himself. Not only did his body resemble the perfect image of a greek mythology god, but the dark ink that travelled down his body added more to his attractiveness.
He had so many of it on his body but not so much that it drowned away the perfection of his olive toned skin. All she wanted right now was to just run her fingers down his body and trace those patterns on his skin. She wanted to see them more clearly and already from afar they looked beautiful. She wanted to caress every dip and slope from his back to the sunken in dip of his collar bone.
This man is...flawless.
She was so caught up in her daze that she hadn't even noticed when he stopped smoking and lifted his body off his leant position against the door frame. His front was now turned to her and both of then froze when her eyes, with a far distant look met his dark ones that held surprise in them.
Her cheeks reddened when she realized that she had been caught staring at him. She was so embarrassed and wanting to throw herself off the balcony behind Matteo.
"Aurora?" It was bad enough that he looked painfully gorgeous in this moment but his morning voice pierced through her body.
She shook her head, ridding herself from all the bad thoughts that she had about him in her head.
In her flustered state she stumbled over her words. "I-I just wanted to b-bring you breakfast. I'm s-sorry if I am not allowed to d-do so. I just wanted to make you something to show you h-how grateful I am that you let me stay here."
He said nothing as he just looked at her.
She felt like a total idiot for openly gawking at the man. With flushed cheeks she walked towards the large circular table that sat opposite the bed. While she walked over to the table she tried not to trip over her own feet as she felt his eyes watching her every move.
She placed the tray down and gave him a slight bow, thinking about Malinda who always did it which was something that she was supposed to do as well.
She looked over the interior of his room. It was much more spacious than her room and it was more proper and sophisticated. She guessed it was his style to be modern with a tinge of dark since that is what the type of man Matteo was. Matteo was the personified version of this room.
"Have you eaten?" he asked.
"Not yet. I will m-make something for myself."
"Where is Malinda?" he stepped closer to her.
"I a-asked her if I could make t-today's breakfast."
He hummed and that was all. They were both silent with him looking at her and Aurora staring at the floor. She held herself back from looking again at his toned upper body and her cheeks reddened again knowing that he was standing in front of her with no shirt on.
She told him to enjoy his breakfast before turning around to walk out the door.
His voice stopped her. "Have I dismissed you?"
His voice had gotten lower and the authority in it was very clear. She gulped as she turned around, shaking her head.
"Words."
"No." she murmured.
It was silent again before he spoke up."I will be gone for the day. You have access to every room in the house besides my office. No one is allowed to step foot inside my office without permission, sì?"
He is going to leave her alone again? It was already bad enough that he wasn't home yesterday but just the thought of not seeing him again for the second time didn't sit well with her. She hated his absence and she at least wanted to spend one day with him.
"W-where are you going?" she asked him.
"None of your business." he repeated the words of last night, his voice harsh.
She played with the hem of her dress and bit her lip. "Can I go w-with you?" she asked him nervously.
Matteo looked at her, his eyes cold responding with, "No."
"Please Matteo. I am b-bored being alone in this house a-and I would like to go out too." she pleaded, her voice raised slightly.
"Malinda is here."
"Yes b-but she is busy with her chores. Besides, I really m-miss you."
She almost slapped herself for the words that spilt out of her mouth. She gasped as soon as those words left and her cheeks must have been the color of dark red.
Matteo just looked at her blankly not showing any time of reaction to what she had just told him. She felt a pang in her chest when she saw his dull look and didn't even bother to react to her words.
Matteo sighed. "Another time just not today." he said.
She gave him a weak nod before excusing herself and walking out of his room.
If she couldn't go out with him today then she would have to make use of the time she has without him in his home.
Yes I have gifted you with another upload! The reason why he didn't let her go with him will be explained in the next chapter hehehehe.
